Customer service was outstanding! Very friendly and respectful. I came in asking for my brakes checked. They performed a thorough brake check and stated that there was no reason to change my breaks yet. They said everything looked great, pads, rotors, all of it. I was so surprised that I wasn't going to have to shell out hundreds of dollars. I asked if they saw nothing at all. They said "we noticed you are a little past due on your oil changes, but that's it." They had my car there so I had my oil change completed instead. What a Blessing that this location was open! My tire went flat between Bulverde rd. & Borgfield rd. Literally when the down pour of rain started 18th of April. My husband came and had to change my tire amidst all of the rain. Just to put my spare on and find it was flat! The ONLY place open was Pep Boys. And my oh my did these guys really work to patch my tire quickly and efficiently so that my vehicle was safe to drive home. This Pep Boys location is where you need to go! There are so many positives, I could be here all day. First of all, David, the shop manager is the kindest most professional person. He's extremely honest, and this trait is criticality important in auto repair. He's been there quite a while now and knows his stuff! I've been a happy customer for a couple of years now and had some pricey things go wrong, such as getting my cat converter stolen. And David could have taken advantage of that situation however, he did not. And now, I need a brake job as my brakes can be heard a mile away. It's pretty embarrassing actually. I have no idea how my experience could've gone if they were actually open when their times on maps say they are. I booked an appointment Saturday night online for Sunday morning at 11 AM. My tire pressure had decreased and I didn't know if I had a nail or if I just lost some air, but I had no means to fix it myself so I had booked an appointment here because most auto shops are closed on Sundays, but Pep Boys says it was open. So I roll up a little bit early because I planned on going to church before my appointment started so I tried to drop off early. In the parking lot was another woman waiting in a car for her 10 o'clock appointment and I got out my car. Went to the door to drop my keys off for the early drop off and this note was on the door. It is dated August 31 so this is clearly a new thing that they are doing, but I am not sure how this is allowed without changing hours online. The ability to make appointments for Sunday when they are clearly closed is unacceptable especially because in the time i spent in the parking lot looking for another auto shop three cars drove up for their appointments too. I understand the difficulty with staffing but again at least four customers that I know of, including myself we're expecting to be serviced and could not. I needed new tires, I wanted cross climate 2's from Michelin. Pep Boys had 4 at another nearby store, said they could go get them and install same day. Great! Is that what happened, yes. The reason for the "3" star review is that I was charged over $150 for roadside assistance. I never asked for that. I already have toyota roadside and usaa roadside. The tires come with a 60k manufacturer warranty. So I am roadside assistance over covered already. I wasn't asked at any piint if I wanted it. When it came time to pay, the assistant manager was having computer issues, they had a line of people waiting to be helped and it was close to closing. So he didn't go over the charges with me. He didn't go over the alignment check or any other normal recommendations. I just paid and hurried out so he could help the next person. I went around the block to test my tires. While I was stopped at a light I looked at my receipt. Thats when I caught the roadside. So I went back and asked for a refund. Assistant manager told me he could help me and that I would have to call to speak to the manager the next day. This seems like something that I shouldn't have to be inconvenienced by any further. The assistant manager should have the authority to issue a refund and in the event he cant. He should have the ability to reprint my receipt with a note to ask the manager to issue me my refund. Just recently they replaced the engine in my 2014 dodge pickup. The engine cover is broken and won't stay in place and the coil pigtail on #2 cylinder was causing a miss fire. I was told that they were not fixing either one. The problem with the engine is, I was told that he could provide a engine that has 23000 miles on it. After they put the engine in I asked for proof of mileage and was told that they would not give any proof. There's no telling how many miles it has. I made an appointment a this location last week. I arrived about a half hour early and they worked with me, and got my car in early. Ronnie at the front was really nice, social and attentive! The mechanic (I think his name was mike??), cane in and informed me of all he was doing and how much longer. He did the whole works on my car pretty fast and efficiently. The price was exactly what was on special online. I was in and out in less than an hour. They also have a tv in the waiting room as you just sit and wait. Went to get an oil change and they said my oil pan was leaking and would cost 650 minimum to fix. Called around and everywhere else said 350. Took my vehicle home after changing the oil and parked it in a clean parking spot for a full week. There was not a single drop of oil on the pan, under carriage or anywhere on the ground. Don't let these guys play you. Go some place where they don't try to turn a $50 oil change into $650 of fake work. read more
