I scheduled an appointment for an oil change. when I arrived, 3 men were sitting at 3 service desks with 1 customer being served. no one even made eye contact with me. I stood waiting for 15 minutes standing in the face of 3 of the most sullen and utterly indifferent people I have seen. Outside of direct assault, I could not have been made to feel more unwelcome. I had a terrible experience at Pep Boys. After my car wouldn't start, Advanced Auto Parts gave me a diagnosis that I needed a new starter and coolant. Pep Boys wanted to charge me $200 to diagnose the engine code, but I declined. They then charged me $600 to replace the starter and later I realized they didn't even check the battery or the starter before replacing it. The next day, my car wouldn't start again. AAA found my battery was at 11% and needed to be replaced, nothing more. Pep Boys admitted they didn't test the battery because they assumed I knew the issue. I'm not a mechanic! I've relayed information, but I guess it was easier to take $600 without proper diagnosis and YOU are supposed to be the expert. It was okay to diagnosis one issue but not the other? I won't use Pep Boys again and am disappointed with Advanced Auto Parts for their incorrect diagnosis. read more

I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I have been to this location in the past 4 months with tire foreign bodies. They have not always had replacement tires for the multiple cars affected by this pandemic of road nails, screws and bolts. They have promptly and effectively patched the damaged tire when it was unable to be immediately replaced and that was sufficient in all cases to safely drive the car until the replacement is available. In all instances, I did not feel pressured to purchase an expensive new tire and I felt that I received accurate advice. They work quickly and I wasn't even able to finish the work I brought with me. This speed is different from what I experienced elsewhere at a tire store whose name rhymes with schmavis. Overall, really nice people and about as positive experience as one can expect with a damaged tire. read more

Had a situation where another Pep Boys put the wrong Catalytic Converter on my vehicle. Kirk quickly identified that they put a Federal part on my car which required the California part (Triple the price). Within 6 hours of leaving my car with Kirk the problem was handle and covered. I only had to pay for a new 02 Sensor which was $150 to cover a $3,000 job due to the other location's negligence. read more

I started at Pep Boys 6521 Roswell rd Atlanta, Ga 30328. I needed a diagnostic test run on my vehicle. I was told his "Diagnostic guy" was off and he had no one to do it. I went to 224 Hammond Dr. Sandy Springs Rd Atlanta Ga 30328. I asked for a diagnostic he told me there was a four hour wait. I stated could I have an appointment for the next day (Today is Wednesday) he told me he was full tomorrow and Friday and I could come back Saturday. I said well are tou going to give me an appointment time and take my name. He said 11am and asked for my name but wrote nothing down, and gave me no appointment card. I left and went to 3884 Peachtree Rd Atlanta Ga 30319. I couldn't get out what I needed before three guys that were sitting up front apparently waiting for me to get there immediately told me they couldn't do a diagnostic. I'm not sure what's happening here. Are they racist because I'm a black woman? I never seen anything like this. I called corporate. Well 1800 Pep Boys. I'm appalled. Black women please be careful dealing with these locations. I'm not sure what to think. read more

I can't get an appointment with the dealership until March so I went to Pep Boys to find out if there was a serious issue with my car that made would make it completely undriveable. I worked with Ray, who was wonderful. They were down a couple employees (very common these days) but I was able to get an explanation & got my car back in a timely fashion. I wish I could give them zero stars... My car completely died on me one evening and I had it towed to this location, as it was the closest mechanic to where I had stalled. The next morning I called three times to check on the status. Finally they told me that I needed a whole new engine. He said the engine was about to "blow up" and that was why it stalled, as a "fail safe." Um, what? Manager told me my options were to "get a new engine or get a new car." So, after the completely rude and dishonest feedback, I had the car towed to a Firestone location. All I needed was a new alternator and a new battery. I wouldn't trust their diagnosis on anything--take it somewhere else! read more

Scheduled appointment on-line, 3 days in advance. Chose that day as the car's driver (daughter) would be out of town. The booking allowed me to choose not only service (new tire) but also the specific - brand/model/size tire - from their list of values. Received electronic confirmation of the appointment, and tire specifics. Arrived 30 min early on day of appointment to drop off car. After waiting 9 minutes (really) for someone to acknowledge my existence at the front desk, I was asked what I need, as they had record of an appointment, but stated that electronic appointments provide them no details. After explaining, he advised he did not have my requested tire, or any tire in that size (for a run of the mill crossover vehicle). I would need to come back tomorrow, and that in the future I should call to make any appointments. Sooooo, Needless to say I advised I would not return the next day. I called a competitor not far from there m, dropped off the car, and service was completed without issue that day, and for price similar to what was quoted by Pep Boys on line... which apparently is not coordinated to the individual stores....? read more

I brought my car in for an oil change. When I went to pay it was $169 dollars. I was not told ahead of time it would be this much and the most I ever paid before was $69 for a high mileage oil change with Honest One in Roswell. I moved to this area so I decided to give Pep Boys a try. They said prices increased because of inflation. The job was done so I paid. I signed up for their offers but was told I could not use it the same day. Issue with vehicle: Oil leak since oil change. Drain plug and gasket had to be replaced as they were cross-threaded with this oil change. We discovered this while on the road. I felt disrespected and cheated when I left there and the staff had no concern for my concerns. I even went back and said something about the charge but no one cared. read more

I want to take this opportunity to talk about the unacceptable and unprofessional experience I had at this location on Hammond Street in Sandy Springs, GA. I made an appointment online for a tire repair because I have a nail in one of my tires. When I showed up at my appointment time, the store refused to honor the appointment at all and said they would "get to it when they get to it," saying it could be 4-5 hrs later. On top of that, the person at the desk spoke condescendingly and had zero care for the situation he was putting us in. I recommend all potential customers go elsewhere. They replaced my alternator with a bad one and told me I had a warranty the warranty was only for 2 months and then told me it's nothing they can do but charge me once again a big amount. To top it all they had my car for over a week and the labor to replace a alternator is 1hour. Plus I had an appointment so I can having my car for a day but a week was ridiculous especially for trash. It took two more visits to their store before Troy, one of the managers, was able to finally resolve my car problem. If I come back here again, it will be because of his taking responsibility and ownership of the necessary fixes. I will also only want him to work on my car. Who knows if this all could've been avoided if Troy had been involved directly from the first visit. Only additional gripe I have is that the other manager required me to make an appointment to come in for the final fix. As if I hadn't been waiting a week already! Do not go there! The negative reviews of this place are spot on. They are liars and frauds, marking up your bill for no reason other than to illegally line their pockets. I went in to replace my rear tires (service only, I had the tires shipped there) and got an additional "oversized tire" charge slapped on my bill - to replace 18 inch tires! The guys are the worst. They had my car for a whole day and didn't even address the problem that brought me in. (My check Engine light) They called and said it was some pump needed to be replaced. I said fix it please and also change the oil. I come in the next day and all they have done to my car is the oil change. He said I declined service for the pump which is a flat out lie. After ten minutes of him behind the computer muttering "declined service declined service" i decided to leave. I ask for my invoice so I can just get someone else to fix it and he hands me someone else's keys. This guy must have been on something. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! Manager is completely unprofessional and your car will have more problems than what you took it in for. I brought it in for an oil leak and lights on my dash.. they kept it for 24 hours...picked it up..$800 dollars later and it was STILL leaking oil. I brought it back the next day and they told me to check my oil every time I get gas and hope it doesn't catch on fire. THEN I find out my back windshield wiper and fluid is working...Do not waste your time or money here! read more

I wouldn't recommend this location, my wife took our cars there several times and the employees were helpful but also made inappropriate comments. They did do the oil changes well but were also extremely slow taking over an hour each time while not being very busy. This place is full of people taking advantage of others. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I think everyone should be warned about their practices! I arrived with my husbands vehicle over heating as I was driving it while he travelled for work. They proceeded to tell me the coolant tank couldn't hold ANY fluid. The exact description was, "when we go to fill the coolant, it just falls right out on to the ground." Naturally, I am panicking since my husband is gone and the repair quote they gave me was over $900. After driving the vehicle home (less than 2 miles) the car sat parked until my husband could take a look. Turns out, it was a simple vacuum seal that needed to be replaced and the coolant flushed. Less than $100, the car is running perfectly--- no thanks to the men who lied directly to me about the issue. read more

I went into get two new windshield wipers for my wife's car and some windshield wiper fluid. Troy hooked me up with all that and he checked my air pressure in all four tires and I think he replaced a missing valve cap. The windshield wiper fluid was complementary. No stars waited with my children at this location for hours for 2 days I feel like I was used to get a quick sell one of the workers that usually do not service cars rather he works for the front desk he tested my battery said it was low charge right after jump starting my car but I'm pretty sure it would be a low charge if we just got the car started for not even 10 mins after so this guy recommended I purchase a new battery trusting pep boys word I went ahead and used money that I did not have to purchase a battery that cost me $310.00 I left the shop soon after guess what the engine turns right off while I was driving not even 500 ft from the shop I went back the next day and my car was actually tested by someone that is certified to work under the hood and test the car so now new diagnostic codes pulled but the day before it was just the battery ugh long story short don't not purchase anything until you get at least 3 recommendations please because now I have a new battery and still a car that won't run so thanks a lot Roshawn and the investigation team for denying my request to return my original battery plus a refund for my $310.00 for a battery I didn't need. read more

Looked online last night for tires and saw they had them in stock. Made an appointment but did not order the tires. Went to the store and asked for them to be installed. After 10 minutes, I was told they didnt have them and the inventory only refreshes once a day and they must have been sold. No apologies. However, he says he will try to source it. 30 minutes later, he tells me they will need to order from their distributor or some other location and it may be tomorrow or Wednesday. I said fine. He then types up the order and it literally is over $200 more than the online price. I said...you dont honor the online price? They said of course not...you must order online and then have them shipped to the store to get that price. An hour later, I leave the store with no tires. A massive waste of time. Add to that, the fact that when I call Pep Boys to ask if this was their policy, some complaint guy named "ERICSON" (who would not give me his last name or extension) directs me to the TERMS AND CONDITIONS page which basically says prices are subject to change but nowhere did it say that online price and location prices are different. Anyhow, save your time and sanity and if you do want tires from them, order them ahead of time and avoid the bait and switch. read more

Super fast, super friendly, no cost. I started my commute and realized my tire pressure was way low. Filled it up temporarily and it was fine the rest of the day. Decided it was best to have it checked just in case and Pep Boys was one of the few places open after 6pm so I could go after work. This is the best pep boys in Atlanta! Noticed I had a flat after I left the mall and this was the only place open at 6pm on a Saturday. Headed over quickly and was in and out in 5 minutes! The gentleman here were attentive and helpful and I left so relieved! I will never go to any other tire place or any other pep boys. I had a really bad experience. I was quoted $140 over the phone for my repair. When I got in the next morning, the price went up to over $200. Also, they had never input the information for my appointment, even though I was talking to the exact same person face-to-face that I talked to on the phone. By the time they were ready to even start *TESTING* to find where the issue was, the price was nearly $300. Given that all of this price jumping took less than an hour, I scrammed out as quickly as I could. The guys there were very nice and seemed professional enough, even if they did spend a lot of their time talking about how much they couldn't wait to get off work. I was HIGHLY unsatisfied by my recent interaction with this location. About a week has passed and the incident is still on my heart and mind. Short story: DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. I should have stuck with my usual McCoullough NAPA Auto Care (right down the street with VERY reliable and timely service) Long story: ( I will preface by saying, I am a VERY patient individual because I am a pharmacist and I work with people daily basis. Therefore I try to be the most receptive customer possible. I will also begin with this isn't my first disappointment with the Pep boys franchise, this is the 4th (stop going there? Yes. Now that is my current mindset, but as I said before I am very patient and I like to give the benefit of the doubt for one bad interaction). The cliff notes for NOT recommending this location: I dropped my car off a a little after 7am requesting my back brakes and tail lights be changed. After discussing with Jon we decided to do a brake inspection, and that he would call me to let me know if I needed front brakes as well and at that point I would get a brake package from him (which I would not suggest getting because he himself said verbatim that he would not recommend them to his in-laws - who he does not like). I left my car because I had to go to work, but they were informed to please start on the vehicle because my boyfriend would pick it up so that I would have transportation home from work. About 12 pm, I received a call, about someone else's vehicle -_- Fast forward to 3:30 pm, Jon calls me and is quoting me prices for rotors and all sorts of Jazz with an astronomical price attached for the parts. My dad called back to ask what specific kind of parts they were because he was going to price them using his discount at a local Oriellys (he is a mechanic, but he unfortunately lives in SC). At this point I'm annoyed because I know with ATL traffic I will not be picked up on time and or not gets dark early and I work in an unsafe neighborhood (especially being a woman pharmacist). I tell my boyfriend to go get the car, no services to be done. My boyfriend arrives they have broken down the car, and taken all the parts off and they will not release the car to him. Both my dad and I try calling back, we are out on hold and not answered the rest of the time my car was at the shop. I, personally, was on hold for 10 mins one call and 15 mins the next. What infuriated me was the fact that, I did not sign/ authorize for these services to be completed and the fact that I, the paying customer, was ignored and left on hold while you just serviced my car and I had to find out through my boyfriend "oh they have already started putting the parts on" . We stated a brake inspection would be done (I still have NO clue if I need front brakes. They didn't even assess that). I then filed a complaint, and a manager calls me and attempts to placate me with an oil change coupon, after I've stated to him that I want no more services from them because I've had so many bad interactions; including them denying me an oil change due to a drain plug months prior. I will give him credit for offering to refund my lyft fees, but that should have never been the case. I was also disappointed in his "well this is what my employees said happened" banter, yet again as a pharmacist I know my technicians will sometimes say whatever they need to cover themselves to not get in trouble with me. But taking the tone of my technicians are right and you are clueless and wrong is very short of the answer management should be providing customers. My car was there at 7:10 am and it was not checked out until 5:55 pm, with unauthorized services performed that I STILL had to pay for, charge me for the brake inspection that I signed for. Over all unacceptable. I give credit where it's do. I write pretty much only great reviews of places. But for the second time ever, I wish giving no stars was an option. I know it's a lot but FYI for the people you may trust your car with. read more
