It's an alright store: very good WiFi, clean restroom, Keurig coffee station with decaf and tea. There are a few tables and many chairs. You need to hunt a bit to find a place to plug-in a laptop. They are accommodating if you want to rearrange tables and chairs. I've been using Pep Boys for over a decade. They do good work. They charge a low price. I come here for brake service or lite maintenance: oil changes, brakes, tires, scheduled maintenance. For serious repair I go to the dealer. I drove an hour for my alignment appointment, only to find that the technician, Talal, had issues with the BMW alignment machine. He did not explain the problem to either the manager or myself. The manager claimed my alignment was completed, but the inspection results still indicated that adjustments were needed, with readings in red and yellow, and the technician specifically noted in the inspection report that alignment was required. My results are normally green. I wasted two hours of my time, received no apology, and was given no transparency about the situation. So you schedule appointments so you can plan your day, the tech give you an estimated time it will take to repair and you plan accordingly. I had a 0900 appt for an alignment, the earlier the appt the less likely they are running behind. Well my vehicle is just now getting pulled in the bay an hour late which in turn is throwing off the rest of my day. All I want from a business is for them to respect my time when you schedule an appointment. I respect their time by getting there at my scheduled time. Service was friendly but excuses kept coming up on why I'm not in the bay yet. They do good work but doubt I will be back if they cannot respect clients time. 3 stars for quality of work. read more

I was able to schedule a same day appointment and despite never using Pep Boys, they saw me on time and had my tire patched quickly. They charged me nothing and were very polite and helpful. Made an appointment for a 10a alignment...get there at 9:50. I have to wait 45 minutes to an hour for another car to get worked on and finished in order for mine to be seen. Appointments means nothing here! You get the next available time. Even if I returned in an hour, if another car came before I returned I'd get the next available time. read more

As I was driving home I decided to check and see if any oil change shops were still open, fortunately some of the bigger names were, like Firestone. I was originally going there when I decided to look for somewhere on the north bound side (it's just a tad more convenient). Just walked in at 6:35ish, waited for a moment while the guy at the counter attended to the gentleman in front of me. I asked "how much for a synthetic oil change?", he replied "I just can't do it now, I'm about to be out of here in 15 mins and I've got one more in front over there". I simply left. I get it, it's almost closing time but the hours clearly state that it's open until 7pm & an oil change doesn't take that long. I think it could've been delivered better...maybe. After further review Pep Boys then offered a refund on service charges. We think Pep Boys addressed this issue in a fair and acceptable manner. We put new tires on my wifes vehicle less than 2 years ago. They weren't cheap. They were over $1200 for the set. For the last year, we have noticed issues with wobble in the vehicle. We didn't even think to check the tires because they were brand new. Instead, we changed brakes and did rotations and alignments. Nothing seemed to help. We went to the dealership and were told the tires are DRY ROTTED! Less than 2 years old mind you, on a daily driver. This isn't an off road vehicle or anything. We maintain the tires and rims well. Still, dry rotted. The dealership informed us that the tires were already 3 years + old when put on. Pep Boys maintains their new stock for 4 years before they can no longer sell them(because they go bad). So they put these tires on our daily driver knowing that the manufacturer didn't even expect them to last for the duration of our "warranty". Because we have driven the vehicle frequently, we were told they would give us 5% off our next purchase. The treds are still great, but the tires are disintegrating. I'm not one to look for a hand out. I am however a customer that expects a quality product when purchasing. I would never expect brand new tires to break down after 19 months(but likely before that, just when we finally caught the problem). The staff at the Pep Boys in Ocala was nothing but rude and made no attempt to resolve the issue other than offering to sell us new tires. I feel swindled. The store manager told me we live in Florida and it just goes with the territory. I've been driving for over 20 years and owned multiple vehicles in Florida. I've never experienced tires dry rotting on a vehicle used daily. My advice is to do any and all automotive business elsewhere. Pep Boys of Ocala does not stand by their product or their service. I will tell anyone and everyone I can about this horrible experience. A side note, the car dealership offered to replace our tires for $500 less than Pep Boys and will stand by their product should something go wrong again. read more

I received exceptional customer service and a high level of professionalism. I live in Magnolia and could have chosen much closer options, but after speaking with Estive over the phone I knew I was taking my business here. Biggest idiots ever. Went for an oil change and asked them to loosen my fuel filter a little so that I could change it myself. Did the oil change, loosened nothing so when I got there I asked again. They went out when I was paying to loosen it and loosened the oil filter instead. Now I have to pay someone else to loosen the fuel filter AND climb under my truck in the rain to tighten the oil filter. Gave them 3 tries and all three times they cost more more than they saved me. Better off paying a homeless guy under a bridge to fix your stuff. I wonder how much they pay for their good reviews because they do nothing right. read more

Due my experience at this location, I will no longer be patronizing the company. Over the past few months I have spent at least $3,000.00 at this location making various repairs to the vehicle. Ended up paying for labor on defective parts that they originally installed. Never able to speak to store manager. Took my car for same-day repairs that ended up requiring 3 days. Drove less than 5 miles, and the car stopped. My experience was a nightmare!!!! read more

I needed a hub bearing replaced. Long story short, the repair took longer than diagnosed due to parts logistics. I would rate this a 5 if it were for the mechanics alone. The mechanic was knowledgeable and straight forward. He knew the vehicle and had reliable insight into the model. He was personable and professional which exceeded my expectation for mechanics. I made an appointment 7 hours prior to when I showed up for an exhaust gasket replacement. I get there and they tell me "oh we don't do that" then went on to explain that the tech that does that was out at a different place doing something. I mean really???? Not even a call to let me know that the service they say they offer is not available. I even had the replacement gasket sitting in the back seat. All they had to do was tighten two bolts down and send me on my way. I have been coming to Pep Boys since they opened a few years ago. They always do great work, keep you informed of the cost and have a lot of coupons if you look for them. While they have been through different managers, the mechanics are always professional and do a great job. Their waiting room is a bit uncomfortable, but the price is worth it to me. They informed me that the information I was given at Firestone was inaccurate and provided me with a quote that was $600 less than Firestone.
