I was assured they would see me at my scheduled time. I specifically asked if they were at the shop and she said yes. When I get there I was told they were really backed up, so I just left. Bought 4 new tires with lifetime free rotation. After 10k miles, went for rotation and got refused because all four ties are in good condition and no rotation needed. After about 30k in, the front tires are visibly more worn. Ask for a rotation, they print out me that policy shown in the picture. The policy basically saying if the tires is good, no rotation needed. The better tires stay at rear. Starting with 4 new tires on a front-wheel-drive car, the front two tires will always worn faster. This means if you buy 4 new tires from Pep Boys, they would not never rotate for you. YET, as shown on the 2nd picture, on Pep Boys website, it suggest rotation your tires after 5k miles for $9.99 each. What is wrong with Pep Boys business logic? Can anyone comprehend this? I had a scheduled appointment this am at 8. I took off work for it. I don't have the ability to just take off a couple hours s it was a full day. I drove 45 minutes to get there because it was recommended by my mobile mechanic. I arrive and am told by DeVonte, that he doesn't know if he has a mechanic because his mechanics switched schedules and he cant call the guy t check because his phone os broken and IF, IF he is coming in. I let him know that this was not acceptable. I had an appointment and someone should have called me. His response, "Just come tomorrow." This was not an option for me. He just stared at me. Made an appointment for today to get a tire plugged, tire rotation, and an alignment. I have lifetime free alignment and the rotation was also free. The only thing I had to pay for was the tire plug.... That's the only work they did. I was skeptical when I got an alert from the Ford app stating the tire pressure on the tire being fixed was low. What made my ears perk up was when I got the call from the shop saying the truck was ready, the tire was still in the same location with higher pressure vice being rotated. I visually confirmed after seeing the plug when I got home.....Scammers. When I settled the bill, I asked if the rotation and alignment had been done and was told it was. This is unsatisfactory service. I paid for lifetime alignment and I did not receive it. I'll never visit this Pep Boys again. If I could this place zero stars, I would. read more

The service itself is OK. But they need to work on their organization and management. They allow you to make appointments as early as 7 AM, but the technicians don't even show up until 10. And they don't tell you this until you show up for your appointment, so you'll be sitting there waiting for awhile before youre even seen. read more

Not professional. I made an appointment in advance for a battery replacement for Monday the 13th. Took time off from work, got to the appointment and they did not have the battery I needed. Was told the part should be there Friday so made another appointment for Saturday the 18th. Came to my appointment Saturday and was told the data storage device required for my car was not working. I was very disappointed so I didn't even ask if the battery came in. Went to Firestone in Woodbridge they had a battery sent over from another one of their stores and I was in and out in about two hours. I worked with Pep Boys for five days and my problem was unresolved. Two hours with Firestone and I was back on the road. Their actions speak for themselves. read more

Arrived 10 min earlier and had to leave, they said it will take more than an hour. No comfortable chairs, no coffee, no waiting room, just a couple of old sofas to wait. Worst premises ever for a car services. Poor attention to the customer. If you want cheap service, this is a cheap place. don't expect more for what you pay. read more

I took my car to this Pep Boys once before for a problem with the suspension and was very impressed by their work. However this time my experience was completely different. This time one of my headlights was going out every few days but then would come back on. When the person maning the Pep Boys customer service desk told me they were going to start by checking the battery and the alternator, I should have known I was in for problems. I actually asked how a bad battery could cause a single headlight to go off and on. The service desk guy just said they had to start someplace. Not the most compelling argument I've ever heard. When I called the next day to ask if they found anything, they said no and again repeated the fact that they had checked my charging system and it was okay. When I went to pick it up unrepaired car the guy at the service desk said he had told me when I dropped it off that, since it's an intermittent problem if they couldn't get it to fail they couldn't troubleshoot it. I told him they never told me anything of the sort but he just insisted that they did. The final insult occurred when he handed me a bill for $50. He told me that was a diagnostic fee even though the Diagnostics didn't turn up anything. I asked for a copy of my electrical system readout so when the headlight does permanently fail, I van compare it to see what had changed - at least getting something of value for my diagnostic fee. They said no problem and then proceeded to provide me with the bill. I asked where the printout was (that I just asked him for seconds earlier, and which he said he could provide.) He said their diagnostic gear doesn't actually print out the findings. Why he told me that they could is inexplicable to me. From the start of the very first phone call to Pep Boys to the moment I picked it up, I had repeated communication issues with a person at the service desk. It was clear the gentleman either has very poor listening skills or he just didn't care. After my first experience with Pep Boys I thought they would be my new go-to place for auto repair. But not after this experience. UPDATE - Just days after my Pep Boys experience I got ticketed by the police for having a headlight out. Thanks again Pep Boys. read more

I usually go the Alexandria location even since moving to Woodbridge 3 years ago. I was a little skeptical because of the reviews but decided to go the Woodbridge location because it's so close to my home. I scheduled my appointment online the day before for 9am on a Saturday. I arrive a little after 9 and my car was moved to the back within 10 minutes. I came in for a high mileage oil change (which they always have coupons for) and to get my AC checked out because it was blowing hot. Not only were Kevin able to do my oil change fairly quickly but also fix my AC and it wasn't a Freon issue but like needed an actual part ordered. I was in and out in an hour and 30 minutes. The service Advisor Austin was very personable as well. This will be my new go to location for the future. read more

Purchased tires from a company on line. Paid for shipping and installation at the Pep Boys, Wiggles Worth Way. The appointment time was 8:00am as it was to be a precision type of day. Arrived at 7:45am, DeVante arrived at 7:58am. I inform DeVante I had a 8:00am tire install and the tires were shipped from another company. DeVante without looking up told me "can't do installs until 10:00am, have no techs". Then the phone rings. DeVante takes the call and assist the caller for 5 minutes. Then returns to me after seeing my order and says "we don't install these tires, don't want to take the risk with our machine". Well damn, why when the order came through, when you were in receipt of my tires you didn't think to inform me prior to my arrival. I received a reminder text from Pep Boys the day before. I should have been notified then about the issue. Not after juggling my schedule to make everything I had to do fit. My issue is the extremely poor customer service and lack of care or concern about my time. It should be noted, I asked to speak to the Manager. DeVante said he wouldn't be in until 11:00am, and he's gonna tell me the same thing. Well Damn!!! I left knowing confidently that the poor customer service was part of the store culture and there would be no remedy. Sadly, I stopped going to this Pep Boys years ago because of poor service. I only returned because of the ease of shipping and installation. I thought anybody could replace tires. I had to replace a tire in May while traveling. Pulled into a junkyard who replaced the tire. The bathroom is out of order so I asked and supposedly the 20 or so employees have to hold it all day??? I call BS! So I was told to go across the Highway to a restaurant and use theirs!! I came to pepboys for an oil change and a tire rotation. It only took them 25 minutes to complete everything and they gave me a really good price better than all the competitors around. They gave me a free complementary vehicle inspection the detailed issues that my car was having but they were not pushy about getting them done. This store claims it's an Amazon issue even though Pep Boys corporate confirms it is this store that had the tires and then lost them. When I asked about it I was told 3 others were scheduled for the same time. I have counted 6 vehicles in and out since I arrived including walk-ins. I came in for a brake fluid swap. They told me it was my booster and to swap fluid would do me no good. They were honest about it as I knew that could be the real problem with my brake "feel". They quoted me the costs for repair and helped me with my options to get it fixed. John and the other guy with two braids who's name I forgot were very helpful. Because of their assistance I will bring my Charger back for other work that I do not want to do myself. I am so grateful for this team! I rolled up exactly 2 minutes before they closed because all the alerts in my car turned on while I was right in the middle of a 4 hour drive. I'm giving 4 stars not because of service, or the employees. More so because it seemed like maybe upper management didn't mind much that the employees they did have there were short staffed. Despite it being short staffed I could see how hard everyone was working, and everything went smoothly for the service I got done. I honestly felt bad for how busy the guy was who was working at the desk and the garage, having to go back and forth so much to answer phones and work on vehicles. I would absolutely go back for service there. I just hope they get some more employees so the ones who do work there now don't get overworked. read more

I'm pretty patient and understanding, but I am highly dissatisfied with the service I received here...or the lack thereof rather. I made an appointment in person for the following day. That was a breeze and this was a 5 star rating at that point. So...how'd it go down to two? I show up for my appointment and patiently wait to be greeted. (The guy working the desk alone was on the phone. I get it. No biggie.) Once I was helped, all of my information was incorrect. 1. Wrong make & model (I don't even recall the guy who set the appointment asking originally. I could be mistaken.) 2. Wrong time. (Apparently I'm an hour early.) Too much confusion, so I clarify who I am. 3. Wrong person. Now we're getting somewhere, but... 4. Wrong day. (So I'm a whole day early now? No.) That is too much disorganization for me. I do not feel comfortable handing my vehicle over when attention to detail could make a significant difference with the service rendered to it. Thank you, but no thank you. Four strikes and a few wasted minutes later, I'm still giving 2 stars because the staff was still respectful and I appreciate that much, at least. Got a good deal on a new set of tires, but the installation was very poorly done. They did not do the front end alignment nor the wheel balance properly. I returned a week later to have it redone, which they did. The alignment was much better, but the balance was still way off. Rather than removing the weights and starting over, they simply added more weights to the wheels. I still had a terrible vibration. I took my truck to another Pep Boys rather than return for a third try. I won't be going back here for service work. read more

Due to liability they recommended I take it to someone who can service my car timely, because time was an concern for me at the time. They have a great customer service and management. Never ever go to Pep Boys. These guys have literally ruined my car. The cost to try to fix it now would be more than the car's value. I brought my 99 VW Golf in December of 2012, as it was overheating really badly. They thought it was a thermostat and replaced it. Still overheating, they tested it and said that the head was cracked and that I would need an entirely new engine. They were going to cut me a really good deal because a friend of mine worked at another Pep Boys nearby. They told me what to buy and where, and I ordered the engine and had it shipped to them. The engine arrived two weeks later, and it took them two and a half to install it. This seemed like a really long time, but they assured me that everything would be ok. When they got the engine in, they found out something was wrong with it. It sounded like it was full of marbles when they got it running. Engine was sent back, luckily under warranty, and another was sent. Pep Boys then took two months getting this one in. I could never get a definite estimate on time, it was always later than I called, but again, I had a friend working there, they were cutting me a deal, I thought it would be ok. April, I finally get my car back. It rattles when it runs, and it squeaks when I turn the wheel. I tell them this is unacceptable. They check it out: someone had forgotten to refill the power steering. Ok, squeaking gone. Engine runs really high when I'm driving, though. First hot day in May, I find out my AC isn't working. Needed to be recharged. It was working fine before the work, and they verify it had just not been refilled after they put the engine in. Great, now that's two fluids that haven't been refilled. My friend also convinced me to tell them about how high the engine was running, which was about 4000rpms at 60. They couldn't figure it out, but topped off the trans fluid. On the way home, it jerked really bad, but finally started shifting down at 50. I thought the problem was solved, but hey, now that's three fluids they didn't refill after REPLACING MY ENTIRE ENGINE. A week later, the car just quits. It starts again 30 minutes later, then quits again 15 minutes after that. Bad Cam Position sensor. Replaced, running... better. In June, I finally have a car that is working alright, except for that rattle. It had progressively gotten louder, but they assured me it was normal engine noise. The power steering goes out not a week later. Apparently, during the reassemble, the pulley attached to the power steering pump hadn't been tightened down correctly. The bolts had vibrated out one by one, then the inside of the pulley was basically hollowed out. Again, they fixed it, wanted to charge, I told them hell no. They did it for free. This is now July. 8 months they've had my car in and out of their shop. I try to register my car in Virginia. Passes Safety inspection, but fails emissions. Apparently, the computer to the engine wasn't hooked up. Now I find out. The engine installed was out of a Jetta. They thought it would be fine because it's a Volkswagen 2.0 engine, but the Jetta had EGR, while my Golf didn't. They disabled the computer so the check engine light wouldn't be on constantly. My car can't be registered legally now, and I'm just now finding this out. I am done. I can't handle any more problems. I leave it unregistered and only drive it 5 miles a day to and from a commuter lot. It seems to work ok. In December of 2013, the car began to run into the 4000's again as I'm going 50. I don't have the money to replace the car or pay for any more repairs, but I know this is something that is their fault. The car only had 87000 miles on it and no problems with the transmission until they got ahold of it. I've contacted their corporate and no one has responded. The work had been started under previous management, no one knows anything. My friend no longer works there, either. I am getting ready to get a lawyer involved. Do not, under any circumstances, take your car to this shop. You will regret it. read more

I used to go to the Fredericksburg Pep Boys; sadly I moved, and can't go to that location anymore. So I took a chance and came to this one here in Woodbridge. I have to say, the customer service is fantastic. I read these reviews of customers being ripped off, or having surprise bills, and I just don't understand how it is possible. They do not take advantage of you not knowing vehicles, you simply don't know vehicles, so you assume they are taking advantage of you. The customer service representative (and also service manager) that I got the pleasure of working with was Ben. Ben spoke extremely professional, and courteous. I would have thought he had been working customer service related jobs for years. He was doing a very good job at keeping everyone in a positive attitude in the store (surprising with some of the customers I heard in front of me). When it came to my turn in line Ben did an excellent job explaining all of the parts that were wrong or needed to be fixed in my vehicle. He carefully explained to me all of the parts, what they do, what went wrong, the prices of each part, the labor involved to fix, replace, or repair the part, and how long it would take. He even brought me into the bay with these funny looking goggles, and actually showed me where the concerns on my vehicle were, so that we could properly address them. I left him with my vehicle, and his technician James did an excellent job taking care of it. It was done on time, just as Ben had said. As a result I have brought my car and my wife's car there several times now, and I will continue to do so as needed. Every time I have gone I have requested Ben. Nothing is more ideal than a customer service representative/service manager who can speak properly, politely, and professionally. In all honesty his level of professionalism is sadly wasted at Pep Boys (at least at the retail level). He would exceed extremely well in the business world where person-to-person interaction means more. None-the-less, the level of professionalism and tact that Ben has, has definitely convinced me to keep coming back. read more

Amazing. There are no words to explain how AMAZING the staff at this store is. We were traveling home from SC to CT and our car broke down. It was a Sunday and by some grace of God we ended up at their exit. We walked into the repair department and we were met by Jason who told us the alternator we needed wasn't in stock BUT he tried calling countless places to find one for us. He and the other staff there (Rick I believe was one of their names) helped us figure out the closest location to get a hotel for the night so we could tackle the issue the next day when things were actually open. The following morning we showed up at 8am opening and met Allen. Jason was not in that morning but Allen took the horse by the reigns to try and locate us an alternator near by. My Father was able to find one in Fredricksburg (at another store, not PB) so we rented a car quickly (they also showed us where to do that) and grabbed the part. By the time we got back to the shop, our van was already up on the lift, the bad alternator removed and ready for the new one to be installed. We were able to get back to the hotel, pick up my husband and two kids and get on the road home by noon. You have NO idea what this kind of service meant to us. Your store is absolutely amazing. I am nearly 7 months pregnant and this stressed me out so much. The fact that your staff was so willing to go above and beyond and reassure us that they would help us get this fixed, helped so much. I really appreciated the efficiency of this Pep Boys today. I made an appointment for 1pm to have my emergency break adjusted, and it was completed in about 40 minutes. All the workers were extremely nice and made sure that I knew that I was a priority. I would have given this place 5 stars had the bathroom been clean. The bathroom reminded me of a gas station bathroom that hadn't been cleaned in quite some time, and I was a bit grimaced when my 2 year old had to use the restroom. read more

These guys are awesome! I've came in twice for minor things with my car, such as a leak tire, Oil change and an inspection. Both times they've done great work and we're very cheap. For instance when there was nothing wrong with my car when it came to the inspection they waved the inspection fee.
