PepeNero opened for business in the former Angry Donut building on NH 33 in Stratham. This place is order at the counter with lighted menu boards, drink coolers (Coke products & bottled water), TV on the wall and there's table seating (6 tables) in front of the counter. They also offer online ordering and a 10 percent discount for military, police, fire, and hospital employees with ID. They offer traditional & specialty Neapolitan pizzas (10" and 16" round), Mediterranean sandwiches & bowls, pasta, salads, appetizers, desserts, and dinner plates (falafel, kofta kabob, chicken fajita). The pricing is moderate. I stopped by Pepenero for takeout on the way home. They were offering a deal where you spend at least $45, they'll give you a free small cheese pizza. I ordered a Large Special Deluxe House Pizza ($23.99 plus tax), Vodka Pasta ($13.99 plus tax), Spanakopita (5 pc for $7.99 plus tax), and a Small Cheese Pizza (free, normally $11.99). These are cash prices and a 4 percent service fee would apply if paying online or with card. The place was steady busy as this pizza place is on a busy commuting route. My order was ready in about 20 minutes after ordering in person. I enjoyed some of the hot food on premises before heading back home to enjoy the rest. The Special Deluxe House Pizza was loaded with lots of toppings including red sauce, mozzarella cheese, sausage, pepperoni, bacon, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, artichokes, black olives, banana peppers on top of a thin crust with puffed soft edges. The crust was sagging from the weight of the toppings. The small cheese pizza had red sauce and mozzarella cheese on a firm thin crust, with minimal edge crust. The Vodka Pasta had soft fettuccine noodles smothered in a thick vodka cream sauce and parmesan cheese. The Spanakopita (Spinach Pie) triangles were crispy layered with puff pastry, feta cheese, and chopped spinach. The owners are delightful. I didn't try their Mediterranean food, I only had a cheese pizza. Unfortunately, it was a bust. The crust was soft and bready. I ordered it thin and I got a thicker than average pie. The cheese clumped together and fell off as I picked up a slice. They have no garlic or oregano on the tables, and their parmesan was past its prime and like a rock in the shaker. read more

This is one of my favorite places to get a quick dinner after work! I always get the beef shawarma bowl or wrap and my friend gets the chicken version. Both are so good and they give you lots of meat! All the ingredients taste so fresh and the staff is always so nice! I hope people come try it out! read more

Ordered on line and everything was prepared as asked. Had a couple salads, pizzas, one gluten free. Pizza had a sweet sauce and crust was heavy but tasted great. I called to order ahead. The pizza was ready very quickly. It's a slow day with the bad weather. As usual, I not only couldn't wait to get into the car, let alone to get home, before I tried a slice. Everyone knows it's a messy task to try to remove one slice from a pizza hot out of the oven. The owner came out with a spatula for me as he watched me struggle. Very sweet! This is my first time getting the Neapolitan Margherita pizza. Last time was my 1st time here & I opted for just a plain cheese pizza. I very much preferred the dough this time. It was more chewy and less like the crispy Greek style crust which was a nice surprise. Overall it's a gorgeous pizza with fresh mozzarella, baby tomatoes and fresh basil leaves with a drizzle of olive oil. The flavor is good but needs some oomph. I added a small amount of grated cheese at the restaurant & will add some salt when I get home. Overall great experience. I'll be back & will order this again! read more

Very friendly owner and staff. The cheese sticks were good and freshly made. We came for the pizza and unfortunately it didn't stand up. The bottom was a bit on the soggy side, but it was the sauce that seemed really off. It is not sweetened at all and maybe needed to cook on the stove longer. It also had a strange taste, maybe there was cinnamon in it? Anyway, friendly folks but not a fan of the pizza. read more

The pizza is GOOD. Nothing crazy amazing. Thick huge crust on the outsides. Flavorful. But HOLY EXPENSIVE. $30 for a large I'm sorry but that's too much. $18 for 8 mozz sticks is also crazy. We got a large pep, large buff chick, 8 piece moz sticks and for delivery it was $100 total. Mind you our first time trying the spot so in my mind I'm thinking I'm buying the best pizza around at these prices. No. It's not the best. It's good. But not $100 for 3 items good. Had we paid $60 id be put at ease and satisfied but that $100 dinner for what we got did not live up to it. I doubt we would go again, plenty of other options out there read more

Got a 10" pie, had 1-1/2" crust on it for $15. Was very disappointed! What little sauce and cheese was only in the middle of the pie.

PepeNero makes a great pie! The crust is crisp on the bottom, chewy in the middle and it has a great flavor. They don't skimp on the cheese or the toppings. And their sauce has a little something extra. Sweet basil? Maybe a touch of clove? I'm not completely sure, but I love it! Will be going back often. read more

Best Cheese Pizza. The sauce was so light and flavorful. Cheese was top quality. Crust and Dough were thin/airy with flavor. I am going back weekly. Staff was very friendly. Service was present/very nice. Brought my pizza out to me with plates/napkins- old school pizza feel. They had house made hummus in a fridge ready to eat or grab/go along with cake slices. We are always in search of a good eatery. PepeNero is new to Stratham, and my wife wanted to try it. We ordered a large cheese pizza along with a large fry. We decided to try the Meat & Cheese Egg Rolls and the Vegetable spring rolls. The pizza was perfectly cooked with the right mix of cheese and sauce. The crust was slightly crunchy and not burned. The egg rolls were excellent and I'm favoring the veggie one's. The Parmesan dipping sauce is great. You might have to ask for it specifically when ordering. We are excited about this place and will be going back to run thru the menu. read more

A local gem in Stratham! I've been there several times since they recently opened and have never been disappointed. Wonderful people and customer service. And the food is amazing. Home made pizza crust and great variety of sauces and toppings. Also offer gluten free. We especially love their white seafood pizza and their veggie options. We don't get up to Stratham very often, but on the way to Collector's Eye figured we would try this place, and we were pleasantly surprised! Pepe Nero is quite a bit better than your average Mediterranean pizza/sandwich joint. (Based on the extensive Middle Eastern menu, I would guess that the owners are Lebanese.) We ordered two pizzas: a cheese and an Italian. They came out cooked very nicely, with browned crust and nice spots of brown on the cheese. The dough is not my typical style -- it is quite fluffy and bready, with barely any crisp to the crust despite its appearance. And it is VERY floppy (let's just say that Dave Portnoy would not like this pizza). The cheese pie had a lot of sauce and cheese, such that most of it fell off when cutting a slice. Normally this would drive me crazy, but I ate it with a knife and fork and the taste made up for it. As others have noted, the sauce has a unusual flavor for pizza, with more than a hint of nutmeg and/or cinnamon in there, but I really liked it. Also the cheese is MUCH better quality than you find at most pizza places like this. The Italian pie was even better -- loaded with peppers, red onions, olives, sausage and salami (we skipped the jalapenos.) Next time I would skip the cheese pie and try another specialty -- the prosciutto with arugula pie also looked very good. I bet the Middle Eastern dishes are good as well. The place was bustling on a Sunday mid-afternoon, and the atmosphere was very friendly and familial. Recommended! read more
