I looked up Pepper Pot just to see if they were still in business. As I had the pleasure of going there before. Reading the reviews, I get it. Locals are treated better, big deal. Servers having a bad day, it happens. Life is life, and sometimes a toss of the dice. I still plan on returning, when I can. I simply loved their menudo. Delicioso. If things do not work out, Se la vie. Hatch Chilies are the best in my opinion. Peace.

This place is so cute! Indoor and outdoor seating, very reasonably priced and delicious breakfast (both American and Mexican style). Food came out quickly. It's a great stop for anyone traveling between las cruces and ABQ along the 25.

Very welcoming host and service. We sat outside on the patio, the weather was beautiful and windy. The salsa is delicious and perfectly spicy. We ordered pepper pot burritos, it was good, flavorful and spicy. Not my all time favorite Mexican food but I'm glad we stopped here. Cute town.

Very generous portions of delicious Mexican food. Their chips and homemade salsa is very tasty. I had the chili rellenos with cheese. Very very good. Definitely going back when I'm in Hatch

Great service, lovely staff, lively atmosphere with lots of locals, and amazing food. I loved the crispy onion rings and the green chili cheeseburger when I am visiting Hatch, NM. The combination plate was enjoyed by my husband since you get a variety of food but the taco was my favorite! Highly recommend giving this place the locals love a try!

Nice little place to stop in Hatch. The service was good and the food was yummy. A large menu . We ordered the combo plate so we could taste a few different things. They serve chips and salsa at the table The chili relleno was pan fried and not too hot. The cheese enchilada were good and also had a beef taco. Very generous portions and we didn't leave hungry! They also have a great looking cheeseburger a fries . Fun place!

The Pepper Pot has a spacious patio, where you can kick back, relax, and stuff yourself with chile dishes. The rellenos made a great way to refuel before heading along on our road trip, and service was pleasant and quick.

We had a great meal at the Pepper Pot. My wife had a chile relleno made with a Hatch green chile. I had the combination plate: two rolled cheese enchiladas with Christmas (Hatch red chile on the left and Hatch green chile on the right), a ground beef taco, and a Hatch green chile relleno. It's hard to get chile like this outside of New Mexico and Hatch is the center of the known universe of chile. Plain inside, dressed up with some colorful silhouettes hanging from the ceiling. There is also outdoor seating. Service was prompt and friendly.

This place was the first place, that we started us eating chili rellenos whenever we are in NM. It's also why I started making them, only using Hatch chilies of course. The food here is delicious. Reviews said service was slow but we were ok with that possibility. It wasn't the case for us but it was close to closing time... 1pm and they close at 2 on this day. And while finding someone to seat you is a bit of a task... finally was able to ask and told sit anywhere, I still give it 4 stars. We did have to move dishes to another un-bussed table as few were clean. But again, 4 stars. We both ordered the Combination plate. This has a ground beef taco, two Hatch chili cheese enchiladas and a chili relleno. All plates come with beans and rice. There were a couple of other small issues but the food was what keeps this small place in a small town, a 4 star place. The good. The rice and beans really are some of the best. Great flavor and texture, cooked perfectly. The taco was seasoned nicely and had fresh produce and cheese. They come in a corn tortilla. I did ask for soft, which I thought meant a flour tortilla but was a lightly cooked corn, but very good. The enchiladas, we were asked if we wanted red, green or Christmas sauce, (Christmas means red on one green on the other or if one item, red on 1/2 green on 1/2,) so we chose Christmas. Both sauces and enchiladas taste excellent. The chili relleno was the hit of the plate. A nice egg batter surrounded the Hatch chili stuffed with cheese. We have found and become use to sauce covering it but found ours lacking the usual sauce. Side not, we ate at a place in Yuma and you had to ask for sauce on a chili relleno and they would only allow red or green. Not 50/50 aka Christmas. Regardless, it was D-Lish-us! The good at the Pepper Pot is truly worth the stop and some small inconveniences. Just know beforehand what to expect. Also, our service at this odd time was very fast. The bad. Not a good system for getting a seat. Had to clear a table ourselves. The big bummer for us though was for some ridiculous reason, they charged us $2.00 each for Christmas style!?!? It is literally the same sauce as used if you pick red or green. By measurement it is the same amount. Red cost the same as the green. We were NOT told at anytime that Christmas was a $2 up charge. Fortunately, this massive amount of delicious food was only $12 a plate. Unfortunately, it affected our servers tip. She should have told us. Still, if you go in knowing, you won't be disappointed. We WILL return.

    Hatch Chile Burger- very good!

Leave it to me to show up in Hatch on a day that Sparky's was closed. No matter. The Pepper Pot came through for me with a very good Hatch Chile burger. The waitress recommended it even over their famous Hatch Valley Burrito! My only regret were not specifying medium rare and not including cheese, which I later learned adds a bit of saltiness and literally pulls the chiles together with the burger. Onion rings were a tasty no-cost side option. Even the salsa was good. No craft beer, but Modelos worked great in this setting. Pleasant, efficient service. Can close right after lunch, so double check their hours of operation first!

This place is a classic small town, really good restaurant. I knew it was going to be good after being in there for less than 5 minutes. It was all locals, and they all knew each other. When they brought the chips and salsa I knew they weren't playing here at all. Many Mexican restaurants bring a bland salsa - this was zippy and freshly made. The menu was diverse but not so big they couldn't do everything well. I had the Pepper Pot burrito, which had been featured on the Travel Channel. The waitress sad it was her favorite, so I went with it. It came smothered with red and green sauce, one on one end, one on the other. The pork inside was excellent, and the combination of that and the cheese and sauce made this literally one of the best burritos I've ever eaten, and I've eaten A LOT of burritos. The portion size was extremely generous. My wife had the quesadilla with chicken and it was huge, and also excellent. She got the "Christmas Sauce" on the side, which is a red and a green, and excellent. The people at the table next to us got a chili bowl and a taco plate. Both were massive, and this little old lady knocked down that taco plate like a sumo wrestler. I told her I was impressed and she told me she never leaves a bite when she eats here. The service was also very good - the waitress we had was awesome. I live about 90 minutes from Hatch, NM, and I would drive that just to have the burrito again! The prices were also VERY reasonable, unlike some of the tourist-trap places.

Stopped in after reading the reviews, and saw Anthony Bourdain ate here, and it was well worth it. Great atmosphere & amazing food that is reasonably priced. Definitely a local place!

The complimentary (first round) of chips and salsa was above par. The menu was descriptive and the service was friendly. We ordered the fajita tacos and the combination lunch plate (chicken hard taco, green chile con carne, green enchilada, and a chile relleno) with borracho beans and rice. The fajita tacos and chile con carne were okay, but the enchilada was weak and the relleno was filled with some sort of liquid cheese that poured out in the first lukewarm bite. Rice was okay. Beans were overwhelmingly over-seasoned with oregano. The combo plate was drowning in broth from the chile con carne. We were disappointed hearing that this place had such great green chiles, but it was all so watered-down that we didn't taste much of the chile flavor. :(

We are so happy he found this gem! I ordered the cheese Christmas enchiladas plate, my husband ordered the build-your-own taco plate, and the kids ordered burritos. Everything was absolutely delicious! The green enchiladas were my favorite--the sauce was creamy, rich, and incredibly flavorful. I can definitely see why these enchiladas have earned such a great reputation. The tacos were completely decimated in our family...not a single bite was left! From the delicious food to the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere, this was one of our favorite meals of the trip. We'll absolutely be back the next time our road trips bring us to Texas. HIGHLY recommend!

Our waiter, Chase, quickly came to our table to offer us drinks. Chase was very attentive throughout the entire meal. He brought our food out quickly and checked on us as we ate to ensure we were not lacking anything. Excellent service!! Now for the food... The small bowl of chips didn't have a chance to empty before Chase brought another bowl (without us having to ask). We loved the salsa bar where we were able to select the salsas that we wanted to try. We chose the traditional, jalapeño and tomatillo, pico de galio, and chipotle. We agreed that all of them were delicious. My husband had the fish tacos. The serving size was great!! He would have preferred grilled fish rather than the breaded and fried fish; but all-in-all he said it was good. (For non-fish eaters like myself, the fish smell was quite strong and overpowered the smells of the rest of our meals). My daughter got the Monster build your own burrito with chicken. She loved it and said the grilled chicken was delicious!!! My daughter's boyfriend had the chicken enchiladas Christmas (green and red sauces for those who may not be familiar). He loved it! Like my daughter, he too enjoyed the grilled chicken that came in his enchiladas. I had the cheese enchiladas Christmas with 2 fried eggs and sauce on the side. The sauces were both delicious!!!! Everyone at the table enjoyed tasting the green sauce which had a creamy and cheesy consistency with the perfect amount of green chilies and heat. The red sauce was a traditional New Mexico red enchilada sauce with exactly the right amount of heat. My single complaint about my meal is that I could have counted the number of cheese shred pieces between each tortilla of the enchiladas. All of us liked the refried beans and Spanish rice that came with our meals.

There has to be something in the dirt that makes them superior to any other. I should pick some of that up and sprinkle it on my lawn where the gardener killed the grass. Nope, bad idea. The fricken gophers would be in heaven. The chips and salsa are no slouch either. You get plenty of chips and four different salsas to tempt you. Careful though, the green one has a kick. When asked what kind of sauce I'd like on the rellenos, I told the server, NOT THE GREEN ONE! She laughed and said that they have a mild version. I opted for that. It was perfect for blanketing the entree. I didn't get dessert, cause the hotel where I was staying had a sign by the front desk stating that fresh baked cookies will be served. Well, that was a bust. The cookie lady said that the power where she bakes was out. So no cookies. I guess the old saying is true. It's better to have Flan in the hand than cookies on a sign. Quick Tip: Try to get seated by the indoor fountain. The pleasant sound of the trickling water will compliment your experience. That is unless you've been drinking a few beers. Then it may not be the trickling sound from the fountain that you're hearing.
