We've been here a couple of times after church (like everyone else in Southington), and both were good experiences. Even when there was a wait, the wait staff cleaned up empty tables immediately, and we sat rather quickly. We have had the corned beef hash, which was awesome, eggs, potatoes, pancakes...everything is made from scratch and is exactly what you expect (except for the corned beef hash - that was better than expected). The coffee is weak, however. Like a couple of the other reviewers said, it's pretty much your standard breakfast place. They try to be a little creative with the specials, but fall short on that end. We were excited to try the Pepper pot for breakfast. Until we sat down, got our coffee and took that first sip. WHAT is up with this coffee?! It is seriously the crappiest coffee I've ever had! And I swear I'm not a coffee snob! The food was pretty good, I had the eggs Benedict with a side of corned beef hash. My husband had an omelette. But honestly, we both said the food isn't worth the crappy coffee. I need coffee with my breakfast. It also better taste a little better than dirty dishwater if your charging $1.50 a cup. This place is a fantastic place to go for breakfast. It's standard greasy spoon-type breakfast fare, so probably not the best choice for the calorie-obsessed, but if you're looking for a hearty breakfast/brunch this is the place to go. I love their omelettes and hash browns! Their sausage and toast and eggs and pancakes are all quite tasty, too. This is "down home cooking" at its best. Good prices, too, especially if you're up early enough for their crack-of-dawn specials! Only one warning: they can get extremely crowded on weekends, especially around church times as the other poster mentioned, so either arrive early or be prepared to wait a little while. Always heard this place was great. Never knew where it was until we were going to a place down the street, and parked in front of Pepperpot without even knowing! Of course we had to go inside. Hostess, we have always seen the same girl, is a sweet heart... always smiling, quick helping bus tables, and very friendly. We sat down, whole menu sounded awesome. We didn't realize we had sat 10 minutes before they were closing! Our waitress, I can't remember her name, but she was friendly and didn't make us rush to order. Did a great job. My boyfriend and I decided to order two dishes and share them. I ordered the omelette special, which had summer squash, zucchini, and fresh mozz. This was a great summer omelette and we loved it. My boyfriend ordered the club, which had ham, bacon, fried egg, lettuce & tomato. You'd think okay, a sandwich, but it was really, really good. Pepper Pot is obviously a popular diner and the constant 20 minute wait proves that they have plenty of regular, return traffic. However, they're not exactly consistent. The first time I went, something tasted off about the eggs, like they were from some premade mix. The coffee was burnt, and service was slow. The second time I went, I had fast service, delicious food, and left with a smile. I'll be returning again, but if the food and service quality don't stay consistently high, I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

Here's where I stand. Don't believe this illusion that all these reviews have that this is a cute interesting place. It is a carpeted, outdated and i'm sorry to say, dirty feeling restaurant. Think about it, really, how clean can a carpeted dining room be??? Yes, you will leave not feeling empty because the food is very dense. Breakfast is my Favorite meal, and i have had good food here, but the cleanliness is getting to me and turning me off. My decision was overridden to go here, and as an example, the person who did want to go there, needed to ask for a clean fork.... I'm not going review the food. So this is a 5 star breakfast, with a 1 star coffee. I get the breakfast brunch almost every time, and it is singlehandedly the best breakfast I've had in Connecticut. 3 sausage links wrapped in French toast? Plus some deliciously loaded home fries with special sauce, melty cheese and crispy bacon? They are so good. I would definitely try it if I were you. The bad, is the coffee. I've been going here for maybe 6 or 7 years. In the beginning they had great coffee, In fact my friend and I would actually comment on how good it was for it being restaurant coffee. But something has happened in recent years, and it's not good anymore. I'm not sure, but I think they maybe started pre-grinding the beans, and letting them sit out? Or maybe using less grounds per cup, I'm not sure.... but it's pretty watery and terrible tasting now. It's an easy fix, and it would push this review from a 4 to a 5 for me. But it's still a good place to eat, I mean obviously... I've still been going there for a couple years now with bad coffee so I keep going back for something! read more

More does not mean better. HUGE portions of bad food. Our server was about as unfriendly as they come. We couldn't cut through the pancake even with a knife. My home fries were burnt. My good friend brought me here for breakfast and wow!! I had the best omelette I have ever eaten. It was perfection. I think I had gotten the onion and tomato with no cheese. The potatoes were also cooked and seasoned to perfection. I normally do not like going out for breakfast because a lot of places put too much grease or butter on the food. I always end up with an angry tummy. I had no issues with anything being too greasy and everything was so tasty. I really cannot wait to go back again! 5 stars all the way here. read more

I will NEVER go here again. The manager was rude, abusive, and nasty. We planned to meet another couple for breakfast, and arrived before them. The restaurant was less than half full, and when we asked for a table for four, we were told that we could not be seated. When I pointed out that there were many parties of 2 already sitting at tables for 4, the manager started yelling at us and told us to just find somewhere else to eat. When I pointed out that the restaurant was half empty and had plenty of open tables, the managed yelled even louder and demanded that we leave. We did leave, and we will never go back. read more

The service was quick & friendly. They have quite a diverse menu & all of the misspellings kept us amused. I didn't have the coffee but those we did said it was GOOD. They had one of those BIG BELLY BREAKFASTS where you get two of everything which my friend & I shared - eggs, bacon, sausage, pancake, french toast, home fries & rye toast. WHO is eating ALL THAT by themselves?? One of the guys ordered poached eggs which were a little overcooked & every server who came by our table asked if he'd like new ones (b/c they could see they were overdone). He just kept them but it was refreshing to have observant & attentive servers. Here is the TIP: Get there right before 10 a.m. because after that the Church Rush comes in & there is a line. Went on Christmas Eve around 11-12 for a nice brunch. Had to wait in line for about 10-15 min, but it moved quickly. The food was delicious! I got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a hard roll and the loaded hash browns. The breakfast sandwich was huge! And delicious. The loaded potatoes were to die for. They come in 2 sizes: half and full. I only got the half size and couldn't finish them. My date ordered something off of the specials board. I consider this place one of the best breakfast places around for the money. The prices are about the same as Denny's but the quality of the food is much better.
