We ordered delivery. It was a 3.5. I have not eaten at Pepper Tree in some time. Our food arrived quickly as ordered. Kid (who is just home from the hospital) sucked down a Thai iced tea, ate a tofu salad roll they proclaimed delicious, and promptly went to bed at 5:30pm before eating their noodles. Their noodles looked good but no verdict has been delivered. My extra pork pad see ew add mushrooms for $2 was a little bland tbh. It didn't have as much sauce and smoky flavor as I am used to but was also less oily so maybe that's good. The pork was very lean, the broccoli was cooked perfectly, there were no bean sprouts or onions or carrots or anything. I had asked for mushrooms for $2 and expected regular old button mushrooms and got a TON of straw mushrooms which surprised me. I really don't enjoy straw mushrooms. Texture thing. I know its weird. I really only enjoy garden variety grocery store mushrooms and maybe portabellos. So this pad se ew was not a win and it's kinda my fault. Also nothing was spicy and door dash didn't let you ask for spice. Usually we order medium spice. The "oh my god" appetizer, spring rolls stuffed with crab and cream cheese was just ok. I would pass. All in all it was just ok.

Allegedly pineapple fried Rice with pork

I ordered pineapple fried rice with pork and specified"no spicy" What I got was soggy fried rice with literally two pieces of pineapple and chicken instead of pork and it was spicy. in case these people don't understand let me explain... Fried rice should be fluffy not soggy you can't call it pineapple fried rice if you put two pieces of pineapple chunks in the entire thing Pork come from pigs not from chickens And when someone asks no spicy that means no spicy Horrible food I will never return

Love all of their Currys, they have really good pad Thai, and the people here are so nice. Plenty of room for big parties, chill vibe.

The the combination of smoky, tender barbecue with the creamy Thai curry was so good. The burnt ends brought that deep, savory, slightly charred flavor, while the curry gave it a completely different dimension. The flavors worked well. I just wished the burnt ends were more fatty. We also tried a pork belly dish, which was another highlight. The pork was rich and flavorful, and I loved the crispy fried egg, green beans, cucumber, and fish sauce with it. If you're visiting Portland and want something playful and different, Eem is absolutely worth checking out!

Drinks: I cannot handle day drinking anymore, but I couldn't resist... - Acid test: bourbon based - Separation anxiety: rum based, tiki; I was hesitant about the lychee (not a fan), but it was very well balanced. This was my preferred cocktail Food: family style - Sweet and sour chicken: even the small was a big portion. Flavor was great on this, and it had a crisp, crunchy batter - Wok fried yu choy: great wok char - Smoked pork krapao: crispy pork belly pieces, a fried poached egg (literally deep fried). Break up the yolk to dip with the pork. The cucumbers and green beans are a nice clean accompaniment; spicy fish sauce was great - White curry with brisket burnt ends: I've never had a white curry, but the white curry and cauliflower was a great match for the super rich brisket pieces. I love the interesting combination! Note: pretty much everything has some spice to it, so for kids, the jasmine rice and yu choy are the main items, though my older daughter did ok with the fried chicken and brisket! Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive. They were packed on a Wednesday for lunch, so I'm glad we got here before noon to snag a table. I wish the Bay Area had more interesting fusion done right like this (I feel like fusion is a bad word in the food world...)

You can watch them frying the roti in front of you, they have a great flavor (they're a bit on the thick side), and the curry is absolutely sublime, with an incredible depth of spices without being hot. I also really enjoyed the freshness and textural blend of the "rice salad," with great cucumbers and herbs, although it was too spicy for my dining companions. I admit I didn't think the fried chicken was anything special--the chicken was moist (even the white meat), but the outside could have been crunchier. But I'm not the biggest expert in fried chicken, nor in pad thai, and both were certainly competent even if not as exceptional. Sticky rice was also cooked perfectly.

Fried Chicken Roti Combo - holy fried chicken crispy, combo comes with 1x leg and 1x thigh cut into two pieces. Curry was delicious and balance, excellent when dipped with the crispy roti or fried chicken. Pickled veggies were a great pairing and sweet and sour added another dimension. 2. Pad Thai - glistening noodles served inside an egg omelet. Very solid pad thai - sweet, sour, salty. Don't forget to add the fresh shrimp, these were cooked perfectly and plump. I recommend the restaurant should take the shrimp tail shell off for us. 3. Thai Basil Lemonade - solid lemonade, NEED more basil flavor. Overall, I'd come here again to eat and try other items as well. I'll give it a 5 star for now but more 4.5.
