Ordered take out of the blackened fish tacos and the baked mushroom appetizer. $19 and only two barely filled tacos with slimy lettuce. Advertised as an avocado puree, when it's just thin slices (don't call it a puree). Tacos were so soggy and fishy tasting. Baked mushrooms...they were so salty you need a gallon of water to finish. I walked in saw my order, no one greeted me until after a couple of minutes. I grabbed my own bag then someone came running over. Having someone at the front counter to welcome guests is always key. I felt awkward, and grabbed my food and left. Overall- avoid the tacos. There's nothing in them but slimey old lettuce and doesn't hold together as a taco. Immediately fell apart from being so watery. $19 for 2 tacos I could go to Margaritas or Tacorita and get 3 for less. Tried giving Pepper's Landing a chance, but disappointed. read more

My wife and I recently enjoyed a delicious lunch at Peppers Landing in Old Town. We were seated with a fantastic view of the expansive Penobscot river. I enjoyed a perfect martini and my wife had a delicious glass of Chardonnay with our fresh oysters to start. My wife had a nicely tossed salad for lunch while I enjoyed an enormous plate of fried clams; likely the biggest plate of clams I've ever seen. Everything was prepared perfectly and our server was polite, friendly, and attentive. We'll definitely return to Pepper's Landing when we're back in the area. read more

Visited for the first time last Saturday. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable for my concerns about COVID. A very extensive menu; I saw many items I would like to try on another visit. My sister and I shared the dinner sized shrimp basket, and her husband enjoyed the lunch portion of clam strips. We all chose the side of house-made potato chips, which were seasoned so deliciously and had not a bit of oil. The service was attentive, but not overly so. The only disappointment was that their kegs were "too warm," so we were relegated to bottled beer... not really a great hardship. We all enjoyed the food and the ambiance and look forward to returning when we can sit outside on their spacious deck overlooking the river. read more

We stopped in based on Yelp reviews and were rewarded with great food: steamed clams, lobster roll "Brunswick style" (toasted roll warm with butter) and fried clams. Steamers were uniformly large and sweet (very little grit). Fried clams were lightly breaded and delicious. The standout was the mouth watering lobster roll. Pricing was Ok. Steamers were kinda pricey at 18 for a modest serving. Fried clams were 25 and lobster roll was 28. All in all a great meal. Nice atmosphere and riverside setting. read more

Great food- super nice outdoor space by the river. Staff was excellent from the minute we arrived.

Service was great. We enjoyed the lobster (although tails were a little over cooked). Coleslaw was good but corn on the cob was undercooked. The spicy shrimp appetizer was tasty but not really spicy in my opinion. Husband had the burger and it was cooked properly and decent. We were too full to try dessert. read more

We were passing through Maine on a roadtrip to Canada and discovered Peopers. Large restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the river. It was a nice day so we sat outside and enjoyed the view and weather - nice stop after a long drive and we did not want to leave after we finished our meal so we sat for a bit just enjoying the nice day. The service and food were excellent. We had the shrimp tacos and the grilled haddock sandwich, both of which were delicious. For sides we had sweet potato fries and coleslaw - both of which were your typical no frills side - along with broccoli (steamed or boiled, nothing fancy) and a simple garden salad that was close to being the size of a main. read more

I can't say enough good things about Peppers. Wonderful food, service and view. I had oysters on the half shell for an appetizer and they were fresh and flavorful. I had whole belly clams and haddock as my main meal and both were very flavorful and a very large portion. The view of the dam and river were spectacular as well. The waitress was attentive, engaging and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend eating there and if I ever get back in the area I would absolutely go there again. read more

Out of towners visiting for a funeral and stopped in for a late lunch early dinner. The food was great. Heath (chef) was very accommodating and such a nice guy. Scollops and bacon was great. Also had a jalepeno sauce we dipped our calamari in. So good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was absolutely fantastic. Angela was on point with our out of town questions as well as being so nice. The service was excellent. Went with my wife and our toddler, she had the lobster roll, and I had the braised pork. Both were delicious. Often the non-seafood options at seafood restaurants are lackluster, but that was definitely not the case here. This has been a classic spot over the years,... empty till recently. This is really , really good. Both classic and original recipes. When we entered the restaurant there were people sitting and standing around the door area but no restaurant person in sight. After waiting for a bit and no host/hostess appeared, we decided to see if there was seating at the bar. Luckily there was and so we decided to sit there. The bartender did get our drink orders and came back quickly for our food orders after a little wait. My friend ordered a margarita and said it was awful. I ordered a Guiness and received a can of Guiness draught with a glass - a first for me at a bar, however it tasted better than any tap Guiness I have had at American bars. There was, what I consider, a very limited offering for beer. Service was slow, (food service) however it seems they had not anticipated they may get a bit of traffic from the "eclipsers". We both ordered the fried haddock with fries and coleslaw. The food was delayed a bit but it finally arrived. Disappointed, my friend's order had potato chips instead of fries. She pointed this out to the server who brought us our food and she told her she would get her some fries. The server never returned and the fries never arrived. She tried the chips as did I and they were awful - really nasty. They are dusted with some type of spice and just had a funky flavor. The fries that came with my fish were cold upon arrival and the fish was barely warm. The coleslaw was served in a small plastic dish, slightly larger than the condiment container and was not full. It looked like the coleslaw was maybe equal to two possibly three tablespoons. All in all a big disappointment. No malt vinegar offered and I did not bother to ask. For the price of this dish they should make sure the fries are crispy and hot along with the fish and since they only serve the coleslaw if you ask for it fill that tiny container. read more

Pepper's Landing was the best place to go for lunch after a U of Maine move-in day! The food was delicious- we had the sweet and sour shrimp and haddock - incredibly tasty and good size portions. My sister ordered the haddock taco salad, and raved about it. The calamari appetizer was so good, tender and battered just perfectly. The service was great - all of the staff were friendly and attentive. Now, the view...we sat on the patio and had the most amazing views of the river and waterfalls. Great setting with views overlooking the Penobscot River. The restaurant is spacious but a little noisy even though it wasn't overly crowded. Need to update their menu online. We inquired about several of the online selections and were disappointed when they informed us that they didn't serve them. No chicken wings or steak tips, etc. They do offer a great variety of seafood selections including lobster, clams, etc. Our group ordered the baked stuffed haddock, grilled salmon, salads, clam chowder, fries, fried oysters, salty pretzel and others. The serving size of the portions were fine. Our server was very busy but attentive and courteous. The meals were a bit on the pricey side and they didn't offer any daily specials at this time. read more
