I'm sure it could be a great place in normal times as it was quite busy but they are not a place I recommend during covid. We walked in with masks and got started at by everyone. Hands down the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant. Yes, it was a very busy day for them. BUT, we waited almost an hour for our food after ordering and when we finally asked another server(ours was no where to be found) we received an unintelligible response. Our food was then brought out and basically thrown on the table. It had obviously been sitting there- potatoes were cold, bagel was soggy. All the while not a single apology or even an excuse. We watched at least 3 others tables come and eat their entire breakfast before getting our food. Then we had to go and track down our bill so we could leave. Past experiences have been slightly better, but will not go there again. read more

My son-in-law, grandson and I have been eating weekend breakfasts at "The Cup" since I moved to Matlacha in 2013. Nobody seats you, and you're responsible for getting your own coffee and refills. BUT THE COFFEE? Amazing. The best I've had in SWFL. The bagels & lox, omelettes, grits, breakfast sandwiches and meats are absolutely terrific. We're regulars, and usually get there by 7 am. Good luck "in season" if you arrive late, but believe me, it's worth the wait. My wife and I have gone there for lunch, but only a few times. The sandwiches were as good as the breakfasts. This cafe is hidden in a divey looking 3 shop "strip mall" on the main road into Matlacha. The omelettes and French toast look amazing. I had the veggie omelette - it wasn't bad just not thrilling or crave-able. Potatoes were tasty. Kids liked the pancakes. Lox & bagel looked Fantastic!!! The self-serve coffee station is in the rear of the cafe, includes 4 choices and piping hot. Also noticed bottom-less iced coffee for 2.50. If you can go early I'd suggest you do cause Tuesday breakfast busy until 11. Id like to check out lunch. read more

There's a reason they claim award winning seafood chowder. Heres the skinny on The Perfect Cup: Good food, average service, crowded venue. The hours are a little suckish, as I wish they'd be open later so I could grab some of their scrumptious chowder; though with the way they are consistently swamped with people. I'd assume they'd run out of food. The Perfect Cup is very busy, so I rarely brave the crowd, but when I do the chowder is always what I order. It's hot, fresh, and contains all the delectable delicacies of the sea you crave when you start thinking of Matlacha. Their chowder is well known in the area and loved for the creaminess and flavor. It's a local favorite, so if you're passing through Matlacha, stop inside and get a cup...to go. read more

This is my family's favorite breakfast spot! We love the atmosphere and food. The portions are huge and the prices are small. You can't beat their sausage gravy and biscuits. For lunch try the seafood chowder it's is award winning for very good reasons. Staff is super friendly, the service is quite fast for how busy the place is. Be prepared to wait for a table if you come on the weekend for breakfast. But it's worth the wait! read more

This place is a real find. Very nice outdoor seating in a nice courtyard setting. Inside has the feel of a southern plantation. We went for breakfast at the perfect cup and had a great meal. I was told that the Eggs Benedict is the best and they were right. The eggs were perfectly cooked, I added a slice of cheese and a tomato to ours as I always do and it was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was excellent. Perfectly smooth, creamy and delicious. Added extra. Spoke with the owner and told him how good it was and he was so sweet and talked with me about how they make it and that it is all from scratch. He loves what he does. Have also had lunch here and it is excellent as well. They make a good latte also. Self serve coffeee. Staff is friendly. They are always busy but efficient. Now and then service can be alittle pokey but usually great. Love that this restaurant is so close to where we live. A very nice and varied menu. Parking can be a pain since they fill up but on sunday park across the street at the stores across and post office. Saturday too. Heard that the Cuban is yummy. Can't wait to try it too. read more

Visited 5 minutes before closing time on a Monday with 4 friends. They greeted us enthusiastically and had a great sense of humor. They had no complaints about our order, 2 milkshakes, 1 smoothie, a hot coffee, and an iced coffee, even though it contained 3 blended drinks (I work in food and beverage and can attest to the fact that it can be irritating when a customer orders a blended drink so close to closing time). The prices are reasonable We received our drinks quickly and accurately. They welcomed us back and gave us directions to a nearby boat dock so that we can avoid the road traffic in the future. We are planning to go back tomorrow for breakfast. If you're ever in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping at, Perfect Cup. read more

This little dive gem is so unassuming that you will drive by before you realize you have passed the best coffee in southwest Florida. No kidding. With a self serve coffee bar, you can fill up repeatedly to get your caffeine buzz. The blonde coffee blend is especially good. The food is wonderful, from biscuits and gravy to bagels with lox and cream cheese. They truly seem to care about their patrons and most importantly the food. With a great mix of locals and tourists, this is one of the most down to earth eateries in this area. Not to be missed! read more

My family and I have been coming here every winter for three years. Awesome food and quite possibly the best coffee in Florida. The owner is a master roaster and perfects his craft right on site. One of my favorite breakfast stops in southern Florida! Great variety in breakfast options with good portions! Decdent bagels (i'm from NYC) and at some point they used to have bialys but when i inquired (in 2014) if they still had bialys i was informed that they never had them though certain that about 5+ years ago on a couple of occasions i had ordered a bialy. In all i've been here about a dozen times and never disappointed. Always with a party of three or more and all always enjoyed the food. Sometimes busy on the weekend but worth the wait. Coffee is very good with variety and good that it's self serve refill coffee. Friendly staff and attentive but can be a little slow during peak on weekend ... What a disappointment. It was crowded - Sunday - but even then the service was slow. The waitress was very pleasant, but that was the end of the good news. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy. The lumps in the gravy was just that; no sausage to be found. The biscuits were cold. My eggs were fine, but my wife ordered poached eggs on spinach. The eggs were overdone, hard yellow centers, not what we generally consider getting when we order poached eggs. We ate there several years ago and it was fine, but today's experience will be out last. read more

The coffee was ok, but certainly not all it's cracked up to be on the sign out front. We sat in the back in a room that looked as if it was under construction.
