I responded to an offer for a well-priced furnace tuneup. Turns out they do water heaters and electrical as well. My furnace passed with flying colors, but Keon called out that the water heater was rusting out. What wouldn't be expected after 35 years? Then he identified that my electrical subpanel ( a main was added when I went solar) was ancient, ancient, predating when the addition was built 4 years before I bought the house in 1990-! He was able to guide me to the best water heater solution and panel replacement and was able to provide an estimate on the spot. Perfect Star was able to provide financing and scheduled me for the next week. The crew that arrived to replace the panel also was able to assess the scope of what was needed to get rid of the last of the knob and tube and to provide an estimate for that work. Tomorrow will be the water replacement. In short this is a very professional organization with very knowledgeable and skilled employees. I feel I can trust them to provide an excellent well-priced solution. They were able to give me a trustworthy assessment of what it would take to bring my electrical systems up to standard, at a much cheaper cost than private contractors I have spoken with. read more

Sales rep Jason was courteous, friendly, and helpful. We discussed various options for replacing our gas furnace without him pressuring us. He very willingly sought out as many discounts for us as we could qualify for. The installation crew of Martin J, Braydun H, and Josh C were careful and thorough. It was difficult to get the electrical wiring through the narrow crawl space in our attic but they persisted until they got it done. They left the bedroom where they installed the split heater/AC unit as clean as it was before they came. They explained how it worked clearly. Perfect Star was able to do what some other companies could not -- install a three-zone heat pump system in our upstairs -- and for less than one company asked for a single-zone system or a replacement gas furnace! So the price was very reasonable. Steven Kobold, the salesman/estimator, was very good and worked out a plan that we liked. Austin and Martin, the technicians who installed the system, were competent, polite, and kept the place as clean as we could reasonably ask. Our only complaint is that in one bedroom they put the unit directly over the bed. Given that this is earthquake territory, this necessitated that we rearrange the furniture to eliminate the likelihood of the unit falling on the occupant during the night in a shaker. I called Perfect Star because our forced air furnace was blowing air but no heat. I also mentioned on the phone that I had a couple of flex ducts that needed repair, because they were not well-attached to the registers and were leaking. Jason, the technician, was super nice. The furnace fired up with heat when he was here. He mentioned that the furnace is 30 years old and sometimes the gas doesn't light. He confirmed the ducting needed repairs. He took a lot of pictures and prepared an estimate for a new furnace and ducting before he left. The estimate was 15k-17k, which is really high! I know the furnace is old, but I was not in the market for a replacement. Jason clearly wasn't prepared to fix the ductwork. Essentially the service call resulted in a very expensive estimate that I didn't want, and it did not address the reasons for my call in the first place. Jason did a good job of checking the electrical, safeties, motors, and connections. He also cleaned the outdoor coil (and removed some bushes and ivy growing around the outdoor unit). He washed washable filter and confirmed both heating and air conditioning were working. Perfect Star came out and gave us several options on replacement it repair. We opted to get it all replaced. When our technicians came today I was not expecting 3 workers but was pleasantly surprised. Juan, Martin and Yohan worked quickly and efficiently. These guys were very respectful and worked very clean which was a big deal to me. They were friendly and completed work I was not expecting such as a new thermostat and resealing all of our registers. I'm in outside sales with a team of technicians in my industry , business copiers sales and service, and I would recommend him to my company any day of the week for a hire. 1st off, he was on time 2nd, total Covid safe 3rd, total professional Now to my issue, last weekend (Fri-Sun) we've had the highest heat this spring, 109 degrees, and this is when my AC went out. It was a miserable weekend. I Yelped services on Saturday late afternoon, read the reviews and just reached out to Perfect Star, they answered immediately (on a Saturday, my company, which is fabulous, doesn't even do that unless my customers reach out to me). First available appointment would be on Monday at 10am-Noon. Marvic, as I said, showed up at 10am, asked me to turn on the system while he got his gear and testing equipment and met me by my AC unit. We spoke briefly and he got to work. He removed 4 bolts to a panel, took a look, and said, your capacitor is bloated, (bloated???) was my thought. He looked at me, grabbed his tester, took a reading, and said it's dead and I have the replacement in my van. This is also why I called Perfect Star 1st. On their website they state that their technicians have a full stock of replacement parts for most major units on hand. Marvic went back to his van, installed the capacitor and in a few minutes my units was up again blowing cold air in less then twominutes Kirk. read more

Had my furnace serviced by one of their techs in Concord on 12/08/22. The unit is fairly new, but there were some obvious gas valve issues. After the initial diagnosis, the tech identified a number of problems with the board, blower, and gas valve, and recommended replacing the entire system (including the AC) for $12-15k. When I asked if replacing just the gas valve would fix the issue, the tech said "yes" but declined to do so. Instead, they charged me $69 and scheduled me with a sales representative, which I ultimately cancelled. Today, another provider in the area fixed the gas valve for only $250, and now the heater is working perfectly! It is very unfortunate to see that HVAC companies incentivize their techs to prioritize Sales over simple, fixable issues. Yelp prioritizes 5-star reviews, but if you read some of the negative ones, you'll see that this is a common issue. I just feel sorry for people who aren't technically savvy and fall for this trap. read more

I am extremely disappointed with Perfect Star. As a long-time customer, I've experienced both good and bad service, with the latter often involving attempts to upsell unnecessary services. However, recent events have prompted me to terminate my relationship with the company entirely. Perfect Star charges a hefty $400 annual membership fee that supposedly guarantees priority service and maintenance. When it was time to renew this year, I requested additional time to schedule maintenance due to phone difficulties. I was assured this was fine. A week later, I called back only to be met with a series of errors: my account was missing, I was falsely accused of having an overdue balance, and the membership fee was suddenly marked as past due. As a result, my service was rescheduled for November, despite my attempts to explain that this was my regular annual maintenance. To make matters worse, I was charged the membership fee without authorization or service provided. Despite multiple requests for a refund, the process has been unnecessarily drawn out. The final straw was the complete lack of customer care. I was promised a call from a manager to resolve the situation, but never received one. It's clear that Perfect Star has no interest in retaining long-term customers or addressing their concerns. *** I haven't yet received the promise reimbursement, but fingers crossed. 7/26: A manager contacted me today after reading the review and is working to fix the situation. 8/13: Updating my review. A manager gave me a great tech and he came out quickly and did the service. It was a bumpy road, however I do feel like they took responsibility and provided me with a good technician who quickly serviced our units. Thank you. read more

I'm updating my review because the technicians are very responsive and courteous. The first technician texted with me after the mishap. It turns out he accidentally knocked the pilot light off. He tried to troubleshoot with me on Christmas via text with no luck. My second technician did a great job of resolving the issue. The company, however, never responded to my call. I had to call to schedule the follow up despite having left 2 urgent messages. Take aways are communicate with the technicians about any issues (get their card) AND make sure your unit is working before they leave. read more

They put a 5 ton Lennox dual fuel heat pump into our home. It's Amazing. The airflow is powerful and the system is quiet. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, THEY PUT THE SYSTEM IN LIKE IT WAS GOING INTO THEIR HOME. They beat Stewart's HVAC by $14,000. Hometown HVAC by $4000. With superior product; and Freschi by $8000. I feel that my system was priced fairly from PERFECT STAR. No cursing, was a nice touch! A few Months back, I 'hired' Perfect Star to take a look @ my HVAC dilema. I could 'hear' water-running in the Kitchen Floor Vent, when I had the A/C on. The 'solution' offered to me was to TOTALLY REPLACE ALL of my Under-the-Condo-Unit 'Venting' @ approx $5-6K. I declined, & they left. I was very upset & 'chagrin' about my options,& shared my thoughts with PERFECT-STAR. Within 2-wks, Perfect Star REFUNDED my Costs & attached a tad MORE than I had actually Paid.
