Brought my vehicle to the shop several times, but whenever I get it there the check engine light inevitably turns off. Now, that shouldn't matter because I know what code it's giving when the light turns on. Spoke with the mechanic about replacing a part to see if that would fix it. He said no problem, make an appointment. They're so busy that you need a weeks notice to get an appointment. When I came back a week later, they told me they can't work on it unless the check engine light is on. Wasted another week waiting only for the light for turn off shortly before I got to the shop. Long story short, I still haven't gotten my ride fixed yet. read more

I was a Loyal customer since I moved to the desert in 2018. I will never ever go back. They now have some racists yahoo working the front office who absolutely does not know what he's doing, has no people skills at all. It's bad when you spend $850 for service because the check engine light came on. Then I pick up the vehicle only to drive it home for the light to go back on. This also happened last year, I gave them benefit of doubt and took it back only to experience a far worse experience. This time the idiot behind the desk, says we have no record of this vehicle, even though I spent $860 just the week before, to have it serviced. They call back and tell they need another $1100. I said for what????!? He gives me some lame excuse. But it was taken in for the same code, for work that I paired for. I told the idiot lave the car alone I'm picking it up and taking it somewhere else, since I now realize they have gone downhill in their service and repairs. When I picked up the vehicle they tried charging me another $145 for nothing. I told the idiot I'm not paying for your incompetence. Then he tried to keep my vehicle. Told him to try me!!!! This place only cares about ripping you off, because two tears in a row I experience the same issue. Needless to say I'm never taking any vehicles there ever again!!!!!! Rude ripoffs!!!!!!!! I found this company in my search for fixing my Air conditioning in my 1992 Mazda truck. I called a few places and right off the bat they said I had to install a new system and maybe the cost would be between 1500.00 to 2000.00 dollars without even asking me to bring in my vehicle to take a look at it first hand. I finally was getting frustrated and found Beth at Performance Plus Automotive. She asked to bring in my vehicle and leave it for one day. She would have her technicians start with a cleaning of my system and refill with freon then check for leaks. It was going to cost almost 200.00 bucks. I was fine with that. I took in my truck and left it in their hands. Just a few hours later Beth called to let me know that it just needed to be flushed out and refilled and its blowing cold air again. That made my day. Went here for the first time in March for a rear brake job had rotors turned and new pads charged 298.00 ! Kinda ridiculous if you ask me so I thought , Went back for what I thought was a warranty I went over my 36k miles but not the time well little did I know they couldn't honor the warranty cause I did rideshare you believe this! Anyway I didn't really have a choice cause I needed em done I got hacked for $495.41 for new rotors and new pads which took less then a hr to install I will not recommend this rip off place to anyone anymore please be cautious and check out various places before you commit to any total scammers!! I truly believe they took me for every penny I didn't have being a rideshare driver and knowing I needed brakes done ! Let me be your angel. If this review saves one person the aggravation and cost of going to Performance Plus Automotive for major work then my experience will have been worth the hassle. I will start with bullet points on how you can check your estimate. If you feel like reading more, and how much I saved by going to another shop, I share my experience below. 1. Parts prices: Compare Performance Plus Automotive parts prices with any online retailer, for example, they charge $22.74 for an $8 spark plug. Marking up parts is customary for shops but the amount of mark up compared to what I can source at RETAIL is ridiculous. This really adds up, especially for expensive items. 2. Fluff work: Ask to make sure all the work is necessary, not just suggested, ie power steering flush and brake flush were not a necessary items for my vehicle. 3. Hourly rate: Performance Plus Automotive has posted that their rate is $114 per hour. When I sought out other opinions other shops plugged in the matrix for the work that was on my Performance Plus Automotive estimate, Performance Plus Automotive rate came to $160 per hour by alternative shop's matrix. My experience: I purchased a used Chevy Astro van with 75,000 miles on it and took it to Performance Plus Automotive to look at it and button up any issues it may have. The vehicle drove great and the main reason for me to bring it to a shop was the maintain engine light came on which suggested a tune up was needed. I wanted to beef up the shocks as well. After Performance Plus looked at my vehicle I received an estimate for $5432.58. I had sticker shock but thought perhaps I purchased a vehicle that needed the work. As I was in my Lyft driving away from the shop, relaying my shock, the driver suggested I look at the cost of parts and I started to compare their cost with online retailers. Many parts were more than double the the cost I could get at retail. I called Performance Plus and they said I could source my own parts but there would not be a warrantee on parts. I had the estimate with the part numbers and started sourcing. When I went into the auto parts store and told my story the attendant asked to see the estimate and suggested I get a second opinion as the work seemed fishy due to the parts needed. In particular the control arm replacement work they suggested. The the auto parts store declined my purchase of over $1000 in parts to save me money and hassle in the end. I went to an alternative mechanic in my area to look at the estimate and explained my situation. After this conversation I told Performance Plus Automotive to stop work and that I would pick up the van. I paid Performance Plus Automotive $450 plus a $48 part I brought in for the work they had started. So I paid $500 to get my van back. After researching and deciding on my new mechanic they looked at the vehicle and there was expensive work on the estimate that did not need to be done as well as work that Performance Plus Automotive totally missed, like new engine mounts as the engine was sagging. So, I would have paid nearly $5500 for work on a vehicle that still needed work. The new mechanic cost to button up my vehicle, shocks, tune up AND with all terrain tires and alignment (not included in Performance Plus Automotive estimate) saved me $3000! Seriously, 3 grand! Performance Plus Automotive is either inept or unethical. Either way, save your money and time. Shop around. Decide for yourself. Don't be fooled by the smiles and postings on their walls about good vibes and energy. read more

Made an appointment at 10:30. A/C not working. Left vehicle. Was called around 12:00 stating problem diagnosed and part was available to fix that day. (The car is a 2012 Genesis so that is sometimes not the case.). Received another call around 3:30 stating car work was completed. Ended up being. a burnt out fan motor which prevented the auto temp A/C unit for running. I was treated professionally and am fully satisfied with the repair. After looking up shops that look at brakes and after reading positive reviews I decided to take my car here back in mid August because my 2019 Mazda CX-5 brakes were squeaking. I was told by the main mechanic that my brakes were good through two more oil changes and that Mazda put cheap brakes on my car. I was charged a $100 and drove away with my brakes still squeaking and screeching. Fast forward to last week two months since I was at Performance instead of taking it back here I decided to take it to another mechanic for him to look at the annoying screeching brake sound. My rear brakes definitely had to be replaced because they were worn down pretty good and he showed me the pads and also he advised that there is a sensor mechanism that gives off that screech warning that they need to be replaced. I payed a little over $200 for both rear brakes to be replaced. Really didn't appreciate getting lied to that my brakes were fine and blame placed on the dealership that they were cheap and being charged a $100 for it. I had a water pump and thermostat put on my 2018 Audi last December. Two weekends ago, the red engine light came on. I immediately bought the correct coolant and filled it after my car cooled. It was totally empty in 5 months. When I returned to the desert, I took it back to find out the problem. They have a 36,000 mile warranty. They could not diagnosis the problem...I brought it back today (engine light has not come on since returning to the desert.) This morning the coolant was leaking in my garage again and since it was recent and I had an oil change scheduled for 9:00 I took it in and explained again and took the photos. Not only is the front girl ALWAYS abrasive and border one rude but she seemed to have the oh well attitude....we can't find the problem.. after I paid I started to drive down the 111 and 4 times the engine red light came on! While visiting in Rancho Mirage we were informed our brake lights were not working. Of course, it was LATE ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON and we had to get back to Los Angeles. We immediately took our vehicle over to the shop and were met by Beth, who was extremely friendly and said "the problem would be taken care of." An hour before closing the problem was diagnosed and the part was located in Indio. The part was retrieved, installed, and the brake lights still would not function. We then met Tony (the owner) who went above and behind, and called in his master mechanic, who came in from home, and ultimately resolved the problem. We were there well after their closing time, and felt bad for preventing them from starting their weekend. We are new to the area! Found their Yelp reviews promising. We took our 1999 Sebring convertible in for a check engine light. They did an oil change even though it was done less than 3k miles. Had receipt to show because sticker was missing on car. They also replace radiator hose and cap even though there was no leakage under car! Diagnostic $98 total over $300 bill ti pick up the car. It had not been fixed! We were given a courtesy pressure wash to add dye to find other leaking! There was nothing leaking before it was taken in, only light indicating service! Advise the engine needed more than $1500 in repairs. Car was maintained regularly! Marquee promises car wash after oil change. No wash provided. Told that staff was short! Did not return! I have had three or four of cars repaired here over the years. The people are friendly and trustworthy. I do a lot of work myself but sometimes I don't have them time or equipment. They do QUALITY work and can always give you a reference for work they don't do like paint work etc. The prices for labor are reasonable and the best thing is they are upfront about costs, you never get a call or show up and have additional fees. Depending on the car (domestic or import) parts can be pricy and you sometimes you can find them less expensive. I have not had any issues using my own parts from time to time. I always refer everyone I know to Beth or Tony at Performance Plus. They haven't let me down in their quality work!! read more
