Great food, but Perico's uses a styrofoam container for takeout. The hot food products melt this container and those chemicals are absorbed by the food. I've recommended changing over to cardboard or finding another solution. read more

I would give zero stars, if that was an option. I had the unfortunate event of choosing Perico's for catering a large event, 50 people, over the weekend. We initially dealt with Cathie, who was lovely and easy to deal with. Our order was then forwarded to Virginia, the manager at the Golf Course location, for ongoing management, as this was the location we would be picking it up from. We then confirmed our order, via the office phone, on 2/16 for pickup on 2/21. No further communication, until after 6pm on Friday evening, the office is Monday - Friday 830-230pm. Texts were sent, 3 phone calls, no VM to confirm, an already confirmed order, as well as to collect payment, something that was never asked for during any of the previous email or text confirmations. When my husband arrived to pick the order up on Saturday, 2/21 at 1pm, about 30 mins early. He was told by the employees that it was cancelled, as it has not been confirmed. Yet, there is a confirmation text from 2/16. Payment was not made, as it was not asked for until the night prior and morning of, on a phone that is an office phone, only available during business hours. I then called and spoke to Virginia, who was rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional during the conversation. Yelling and repeatedly stating "this is not my fault" and "I called and texted all day yesterday and today". Then proceeded to tell me "I am the boss," come to find out, she is the owner's wife, as well as the manager of this location, but based on her customer service, should be fired and not allowed to interact with customers. I then was able to follow up with Cathie, who attempted to help and remedy the situation, as well as, Matty, the owner, who tried to again remedy the situation, offering the make food that could be quickly prepared. I was then charged, more than my quoted amount, due to the change in my order, which was no fault of mine. Had the initial confirmation been taken, then no issues would have occurred. Matty did provide cash for the difference. When I followed up today, asking for a refund, minus the cost of the staff needed to make the food, as they should not be punished, given all of the mistakes, I was told that was unreasonable. The food that was eventually delivered, was 2 hour past the initial time, arriving in the middle of the party. It was delivered cold, the risk of having tacos and stuffed sopapillas, when the original order was for enchiladas. As a local business owner, I am appalled at the lack of customer service, willingness to refund or decrease the cost 2/2 to their mistake, as well as the overall lack of care when it comes to customer service and mistakes. I will never visit this establishment again, nor will I recommend it to others. read more

This was probably the best burrito I've had on my short New Mexico trip. I got the green combination mini burrito and it was pork marinated with green chilies. I really appreciate that they included a smaller size for people with smaller stomachs and to top it all off, it was only $6 which is a steal. I'm not sure if this is the case for all of their locations, but there is no seating on the inside so this is pick up only. I would have liked it if there was seating, but it wasn't terrible eating in the car albeit it was a bit messy from all the pork and chile juices. Depending on the time you go, there might be a long wait for pick up because it seems to be a popular spot. As soon as I bit into the burrito, the beans and cheese were bursting out, and I just thought that the pulled pork was so flavorful and marinated in the green chilies. I don't like chilies or spicy food, but after New Mexico, I have a newfound obsession with hatch green chilies, which partly stemmed from having this burrito. New Mexican burritos are so iconic and this is definitely a great place to try them out. read more

As a self ordained Fish Taco aficionado I have been really disappointed by the horrible fish tacos I've had from restaurants across Albuquerque. Pericos, on the other hand, have been a revelation. Both the fish burrito and tacos (tilapia) are my new go to meal. Also excellent: Chile Relleno burrito (Chile relleno actually rolled into a burrito). I got 3 burritos smaller than my hand for 29 dollars and they tasted bland and watery microwaved frozen junk. Both chicharron burritos had hard undercooked potatoes and not peeled correctly and the chicharron tasted so gross slimy and half hard disgusting I had to spit it out and throw them away. The bacon breakfast burrito was the same hard potatoes and bland frozen junk. For that expensive price I could have gotten so much better here in burque that was a disgrace to New Mexican food. Albuquerque is known for its food scene. Pericos is a fun visit, and part of the positive aspect of the food scene here. There are many smaller size, family, run, unpretentious restaurants with great food at great prices. I enjoy attending events at outpost performance center, and this restaurant is conveniently near. I stopped in last night for dinner. Friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere. Seating inside is at most 12 people? I had the tamales special which included two tamales, rice, beans, and a salad. It was all delicious, and it is rare for me not to be able to finish some thing, but there was more food than I could eat! It made a nice take home box. read more

We only came here because Tenampa was closed. $20 for a stuffed sopapilla with tiny, tough, burnt chicharrones. Inedible, as the entire meal tasted burnt. Sopapilla was too big and thick; doughy and bready. Opposite of what it should be. Lots of filler, not enough substance. Serving portion of carne on other plate is a whisper of what it used to be. Trabajador special didn't even fill the to go container, and it's supposed to be a combo meal. I've given this place lots of second chances, but we're done now. Adios! Major bummer!!! I use to love this place. Today we got chimichanga style bean & rice burritos, rice & cheese bowls, bean & cheese bowls, and red chile enchiladas. Cost was over $32 plus a nice tip. Got home to find STILL FROZEN enchiladas, both the rice and beans didn't have cheese, the rice is like someone cooked white rice but not all the way (crunchy) and poured tomato sauce (and not a lot at that) on it. Love a legit hole-in-the-wall! Sometimes I just want a traditional hard chicken taco...or two! Nothing weird or fancy, just simple, good Mexican food. The chicken tacos here are really good. Perfectly crispy shell that isn't too big and easy to eat & hold. The tacos are simply topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Throw some house salsa on them and you'll smile. My nephew just had a birthday yesterday, and pinning him down to deliver some birthday treats can be tricky. He's busy working, running to and fro with his girlfriend, chillin with his buddies, ya know, 20 year old stuff. But bring a young man some tacos, and you can usually corner him long enough to give him a birthday squeeze and send him on his way. Why on God's green earth would you choose a national fast food chain drive thru (where the ingredients are questionable), when you can have a quality, freshly made to order taco(s) with salsa from Perico's for appx. the same price or pennies more? You can switch up the layout...chicken, shredded beef, fish, papas con carne, or any combination thereof...oh my goodnessssssssss, soooo good. My lunch came with 4 hand-rolled and fresh from the fryer flautas, rice & beans, salad, guacamole and a flour tortilla. The beef inside the flauta was well seasoned, the accompanying salsa was equally flavorful. Overall the flautas were great. Now to the sides. The rice was ok, but was dry, likewise were the beans. This location is a short walk from my house. Got take out from here over the weekend, the food was ready fast and the staff was helpful (both in person and over the phone). Ordered a burrito, sopapillas and some tacos. Burrito and sopapillas were great. The tacos were awful. Loaded with dry and flavorless carne asada. Topped off with soggy lettuce and old pico de gallo. Tortillas were awful too, felt like they weren't even warmed up. My advise is that they make better tacos, or take them off the menu all together.
