You can tell how good they are just by how busy they get even on weekdays during lunch. I've eaten here a few times, and absolutely love the way they do their relleno burrito. Their dessert sopapillas are also good. I don't care too much for how they do their beans and rice when you order a plate. They both could use a little more flavor. The green chile is delicious. If the meat is a little bland, say for the taco salad, the red sauce you can add really fills in the flavor well. This is a place worth returning to. read more

The burritos in NM are different from the California style burritos I usually get. I got addicted to the chicharones burrito with green style. The chicharones was crispy and not soggy or chewy. I don't know if this location has a different owner but the service has gone to crap. My coworkers and I order from here like twice a week and they have always got our orders right. This past week they got it wrong and had a bad attitude when we brought it to their attention, and it was the owner!! So I can understand orders being messed up but for the owner to come back with an attitude I don't agree with, the most important thing I want to say that upset me the most was that when they put lettuce tomato and ranch on an order that never ever came that way before and when we went back the manager took off the lettuce tomato and ranch and wipes the enchilada with a paper towel and gave it back to us like that, to me that's so unprofessional. It's my second day in Albuqurque. I'm a huge fan of green chile and NM is ground zero for the best green on the planet! Tried out Perico's for lunch. Got the #2 green chile combo burrito. Simply awesome! The green chile has an awesome flavor. Decent size burrito. Liked their green chile much more than the green chile I experienced in my first Albuquerque dining experience at Bob's Burgers. Will definitely be back here. And something simple that I like and appreciate about Perico's, the soda dispenser. One of those Coke kind that has numerous selections! Good food, good service and a huge soda selection! read more

Real quick review to tell you that the smothered chicharrone burrito is off the hool with red or green but my favorite is the 6pack of tacos!.....mmm mmm goood!. ..love the shredded beef ones but the beef and potatoe ones are very good also and theyll even let you mix and match them.. ..i usually get a side of beans to eat with them also and it juat adds to the goodness...cant tell you alot about the rest of the menu cause im so stuck on the tacos....highly recommended by this guy! read more

Man I used to love this place. The food was always excellent, the prices were good, the salsa was hot. Haven't been in a while and I was in the area yesterday and stopped in. Service was ok, guy at the register was rushed and acted like it. Just wanted me out of the way for the next person and it wasn't even busy. Noticed the price of a 6-pack of tacos went up....again. Cost me $17 for 6 tacos and a drink to share with my hubby, ridiculous!! Got out food after about 10 minutes and let me tell you the food sucked! There was hardly any meat or anything in the tacos, mostly they were filled with nothing. The salsa wasn't hot, like maybe they forgot to add Chile at all. I was so disappointed. I've been eating here for more then 10 years, it's my go to for great reasonably priced tacos and salsa. I'll go back and give it another try but if the next visit is anything like this one then I won't be going back which just plain sucks! read more

Perico's is just the right place for "antojitos" shredded beef taquitos or flautas are delicious! The plate with beans well cook and the flavor that you would like some more and why not to take home , this is just one of many options!, In the burritos department has a very Tasty menú ! You just peak one! And go down the list for everyday of the week I know the place for over 17 years now and can always look better but the place is always very clean Just,...I would love to get breakfast much earlier than 9am read more

Husband and I couldn't get a table at Cracker Barrel so we decided to go to our favorite place pericos. I had a carne adobada burrito and my hubby had a chicharrón burrito. Food was good. Tables were not recently cleaned so we just used our wrapping for a placemat. I went to the bathroom before we left. The bathroom is a single men/women. The bathroom was worse than any filthy hole in the wall I've ever seen! Toilet was Disgusting!!! Feces and pink bacteria was the view. Holes in the wall where they had moved the toilet paper holder. No soap! And the roll of paper towels was sitting on the edge of the sink! I had previously seen an employee go in to the bathroom. I assume she used the facilities! There is no soap!!!! What the heck is going on there? I didn't see ladies in the back wearing gloves as they shredded a gigantic wheel of cheese. The bathroom floor was filthy and the bottom of the toilet had urine and dirt. I wanted to throw up! I asked to speak to the manager and the young cashier said she wasn't there yet! The health department needs to shut this place down! No ifs and or buts! As long as I'm alive I will never eat there again! So sorry if this is your favorite place! No soap! Fantastically authentic. I'm originally from southwest Arizona, and since leaving home I've endured Tex-Mex, which seems to be what is most offered through the US. Occasionally I've found to my delight places like Perico's. I had a mixed green burrito with pork. I was surprised it wasn't too salty, as pork can easily be. I also had beef flautas. These weren't too greasy and were stuffed with plenty of meat. The salsa was wonderful. My only complaint is that I don't live in Albuquerque, was only passing through. Next time I do I'll be sure to look them up. read more

While the food here tastes good, STYROFOAM, REALLY? I ate about 6 or 7 burritos here before ordering a chili relleno, which requires a plate and silverware. I was appalled when the food came out on styrofoam and was served with just about the chintziest plastic utensils imaginable. Not only did the styrofoam come off the plate and get in the food, the "knife" was so unstable as to wiggle the entire plate around while trying to get a piece off. Come on Albuquerque! Step up your game. Respect the environment. Use real silverware and even plastic plates that are reused over and over. Also take a hint from Portland, OR's Los Gorditos, who has (along with the carnivore's menu) a complete vegan menu, which makes them a KILLING and is super DELICIOUS. And they serve it with metal knives and real plastic plates. Like a real restaurant. read more

At this point, the ho-hum outweighs the delicioso in my experience with this spot, but the next time I'm around I'll give Ellen J's six-pack-o-tacos a shot, even though she is from Austin. Actually, that's a credit to her, I dig Austinites, but like most New Mexicans I'm more than a little cautious of advice from a Lone Star palate. My first visit was quite favorable. I had a green chile chicken burrito for lunch, and I remember really liking it. It was one of those experiences where you bite into a pit of cheesy goop where the chicken sort of mangles with the beans and the whole mess ends up on your unshaven chin and many, many napkins are required. I thought it did the trick. Visit dos: my fault. Acting with pure naïveté, I tried a fish burrito, not because I had a craving but because I'd been doing the episcaterian gig for a long stretch and it was the only safe item on the menu. It wasn't exactly safe, it turned out. The fish was... well, fish, the essence of fish enveloping the entire ordeal. I managed three bites. Last weekend: I'm only barely recalling the breakfast burrito, it wasn't anything worth committing some brain cells to, apparently. The bacon was stringy, thin and weak, I think the green chile passed the test, but the pinto beans messed up the synergy. As a general rule, I think it proves that some places should stick to their strengths. Perico's is more artistically inclined with Mexican - not New Mexican - cuisine. One final plus. I've always enjoyed the employees working here. There's a family-run vibe to the bunch, and often you'll find various generations working hard in the kitchen, crafting a product they're clearly proud of. The facility is clean, too. Three stars at this point, worth further exploration. read more

Ok so I love tacos... Like not sure anyone understands how much I love tacos. I could eat tacos 7 days a week, breakfast, lunch, and dinner so let's talk tacos: They fill the soft corn tortilla with meat, then fry, then fill with cheese, lettuce etc. result is greasy, un-healthy yum. Please don't eat these every day because our health care system would collapse. Tacos are worth the once and a whole splurge. Salsa also has a nice bite. Those who detest cilantro will not like it because it has been fine chop and impossible to remove the cilantro. I think it's good. If the burrito tortillas were better I would give 5 stars. read more

I recommend this place. I live in RR so I typically visit the golf course location. It's fast, convenient and great tasting. I would have given a five star review except I had to ask to have a table wiped down. It's a pet peeve of mine to see employees standing around talking to each other when there's side work that always needs to be done in restaurants. I went here with my sister last week before a concert. It was packed for a Thursday's night which is a good sign. We ordered the Coconut special with a chicken burrito, and fish taco. She also ordered her son a tostada. We got the chile on the side and it only came with two tiny portions so we had to ask for more. Everything was pretty good. Not the best though. We ordered Sopapillas on the side which were HUGH and delicious. Both my sister and I agreed that if we were to go back we would just get a stuffed Sopapillas with beans and rice smothered with red or green. Both chiles were excellent. read more

This is my absolute favorite place to get tacos! I get half chicken, half shredded beef and I'm so excited to get home, open up the box and dig in. I imagine it's the same feeling my dog gets when he smells meat. The tacos are deep fried and topped with cheese, lettuce and the best taco salsa these taste buds have ever had the pleasure of tasting. (Can you tell I love these tacos?) There's nothing fancy or gimmick-y about Perico's. They are the typical hole-in-the-wall dive joint that has all your favorite New Mexican food. The main difference this place has over most other places is that it tastes better than most. They deep fry their tacos and they make some ridiculously good burritos. If you haven't had them you should definitely try them at least once. I recommend the #7 chile relleno stuffed burrito (my favorite stuffed burrito in town) and the 6 pack of shredded beef tacos. I also recommend that you bring cash. For a while they had issues with credit card machines. I think they changed systems but they add a small surcharge for credit card usage now. Boo.
