My best friend and I took our kids to Perkins last weekend for lunch. We used to go to Perkins fairly often during our college years. Our kiddos enjoyed the kids' meal, especially the chocolate chip cookie that came with the meal. My sons thought the cookie was 10 out of 10. We got the Hearty's Man Breakfast and it was a good combo. We did request that the smoked sausage be remade since the ones we got looked pretty burnt on one side. Decided to come here hoping for a quick breakfast, at 12PM. We were sat quickly, and got coffee, but they forgot to give us utensils right away, so we couldnt stir our coffee. We ordered at about 12:30, and ordered some general items. Eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns. After about 45 minutes, in a not that crowded place, we got our food. Pancakes were great, eggs were good, hashbrowns sucked. Somehow a meal for 2 came out to $40 after tax, which was surprising, they charge $8 for coffee, even though they bring out one pot. Lets just say the negative reviews are right, will most likely not be returning. read more

My husband lost his fantasy season, so he was submitted to the "Waffle House punishment" - which here in MN, means the Perkins Challenge. For those that don't know, this is 24 hours in a Perkins, with each waffle you eat taking off 1 hour, and each pancake 30 minutes. He chose this location, and went in bright and early. By the time I arrived around 4pm, he had eaten double digit waffles and pancakes. I sat with him for his last few hours and he raved about the service: Corney was his waiter for most of the time he was there, and was very attentive and kind, refilling his water, getting him a fresh stack when he was ready to tackle more. I ate dinner with him there and wished my plate would've been a bit hotter and longer cooked: the hashbrowns weren't crispy and my eggs were more over easy than medium/hard as requested. But the service and comfort here are top notch! Their pies are always excellent and I enjoyed a cheesecake slice as my husband finished his last waffle. Thank you for such great service! read more

Food portions are too small, they took FOREVER and messed up the order, they're always out of ice cream, there's holes on the ceiling that are rotting, the fruit was sour, and the servers seem to have the "not give a fuck" energy. I don't recommend at all.. it's a failing business read more

I must have came on a bad day. Because entering the doors I waited for 4 mins standing there. While two front end people talked about what ever it was had to be important. I had to interrupt and ask them can someone seat me.. Oh yeah of course they said. The resturant was basically empty had 4 customers in there. Then I ordered 2 meals Steak Fajita veggies was burnt and meat was too tough to chew. I stoped eating that meal then I ordered waffles scrambled eggs and sausage links. The scrambled eggs was still runny inside so I didn't eat them. The manager brought the bill and said I took off $3.69 smh mind you I didn't eat the 1st meal and customer service and the second meal was uncooked. SMH I will not be coming to this one again! Good look on this at this one. Others Perkins are totally better. Update after talking to them they took care of the meal and said things will be better on the next visit. I will hold them to that. If not not about getting food paid for but customer service and get what you paid and not have your time wasted and money. I will revisit not soon tho . read more

I live in Phoenix but grew up in Richfield, and I have my first home for $28k in St. Louis Park. I was in the MPLS area for six days and ate out once a day versus my usual Keto diet I don't follow when traveling. At first saw the reviews of long waits and I am busy person catch up reading emails and news while eating but want fast service. So I went to another Perkins even though this one was closer to my hotel (Marriott) But I love their Choc malts but the other one's machine was down so I took a chance and went to this one. I was pleasantly surprised. Very fast service 3 different visits 2 late afternoon and one about 9PM. Each time the single waitress 1 guy and 2 gals, were buzzing around like hard working worker bees very efficient and friendly. I always look at menus online and when seated say that I don't need a menu since know what I want. Got immediate service and fast delivery all 3 times and great food...and that Choc Malt! So, I am glad I choose this Perkins which the chain was my favorite when I lived in Mpls area until about 40 years ago when moved to Phoenix to escape the cold, snow and misquotes. Twice I had Onion Rings, Patty Melt, coffee and malt. Once scrambled eggs, bacon, tots, toast and coffee. I like the bring a pot and large serving of malts, although not the tin like years ago but was a lot of malt and very good. read more

Very mediocre food. I sent my eggs back they were hard I ordered easy. Biscuits did not seem fresh and not much gravy. My sister had salmon which was dry and not tasty. She left most of it. I did have a little cup of fruit that didn't look that great but I tasted good. Our server did a good job. Sorry didn't get his name. All of our meals were on one slip. I know since the pandemic, restaurants are trying to regain a foothold and offer the same great food and service but this Perkins (as well as others) feels tired, boring and, well, kind of depressing. My staple breakfast is the potato pancakes with either a side of bacon or sausage (I usually choose bacon). It comes with apple sauce and I always get the apricot syrup. Strike #1: The server told me that apricot syrup is going away. I am not happy about that news. Strike #2: It seems since the pandemic, Perkins has struggled to keep up its food quality. Case and point: About a year ago, I visited the Perkins in Edina (off Hwy 100), ordered the potato pancakes and ended up sending them back because they didn't have the scallions. When I complained, the manager was surprised to know that the scallions didn't come in on the truck that week but no one bothered to tell the wait staff or management. How does one have potato pancakes without scallions? However, today was a little different problem: The cooks scorched the potato pancakes, they were overcooked and there were visible burnt pieces on the pancake. I didn't have time to complain or wait for a reorder, so I ate them and attributed the overcooked portions to "extra flavor". When I mentioned it to the manager at the cashier's stand, he was rather dumfounded. In the past, if my meal wasn't to standards, there usually was an offer of a reduction in the bill; none was offered. Instead, I got "I'll talk to the kitchen manager about it." No apologies were given and frankly, I'm considering not returning to this Perkins for the crappy way this issue was handled. I would have accepted a "sorry". As a former server, I know people have an off day but in an industry where repeat customers is essential (and I've been to this restaurant several times in the past, even during the post-lockdowns), I think I may consider more closer options than driving from south Minneapolis to eat at this Perkins again. Strike #3: Again, I know things are tight for restaurants but the men's bathroom needs a major upgrade and repair. Wall tiles missing, toilets and floors cracked, it is tired. Even the dining room looks depressing. They no longer have late hours and even close by 8 p.m. on certain weeknights; another reason for me to not come back. Maybe Perkins, in general is past it's expiration date but after this trip, I won't drive all the way out of the way to revisit this restaurant again. read more

FYI, we had a party of three. the gentleman that sat us, probably the manager or shift lead, was wonderful and very accommodating but the waitress was not (didn't check on us once). i understand it's a sunday plus it was game day, but waiting 45 minutes for food is unacceptable - probably didn't put in our ticket. 2/10 :) read more

I don't think I have been to a Perkins since 2010- but my co-workers wanted to get breakfast and this was the perfect location-wise a few weekends ago. My expectations were literally at the floor, but I will tell you in all honesty- this was really good! Was the service white glove? No but the waiter was super attentive and our food came out piping hot+fast. I had the brioche French toast- I believe it was a platter because there was bacon, eggs and crisp hashbrowns. That French toast was 10/10- so savory and rich I probably should have just had that but no, I had to get a piece of French Silk Pie to-go. My bill...are you sitting down....total, less than $20! I looked it over and over because a trendier place this same meal would have been twice that price. So if you just want a decent meal that's inexpensive at a quiet restaurant then give it a try. read more

We had the most wonderful amazing perfect hot meal at this beautiful Perkins. Our great server Corkey was so friendly and accommodating and hospitable. He did a great job describing the meals and answering any questions we had. OUr food came out hot and fast and exactly as we wanted. The manager Joseph had such a friendly and inviting smile. He was taking such good care of us and the other tables that were in the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and inviting and warm and it felt so nice to have such a great experience. This restaurant is open during this period of COVID. Seating is appropriate and ID tracking is enforced when you arrive. Service and the delivery of food is very quick here. The server was great and checked up on us frequently and brought the check quickly. It's a tricky location to get to from the 394 freeway but once you navigate through the streets, parking is ample and the access to the main roads are easy to access on the way out. read more

They have a MrBeast burger ghost kitchen and I ordered a Chris style burger and on the app it said it was ready but when I came in we had to wait 15 minutes and then when we got the order we got a regular cheeseburger, and then when we went into talk to them, the worker said you did it wrong. It's not our fault go didn't do anything about it and was extremely rude. There isn't even a regular cheeseburger option on the app. This place is absolutely terrible. read more

I come here for a quick bite to eat or a late night food fest with friends. Some of my favorite things on the menu: omelettes or a basic breakfast, turkey club sandwich, open faced turkey sandwich (if you're missing a good Thanksgiving meal), bottomless coffee and their French fries. Usually I'm not a fan of Perkins but this past week I had Erik as my server and boy o boy it was a blast. First off he started the experience or should I say show that he put on with a kart wheel to my table. The whole time he was joyful and very helpful. This will get the job done, but I can't say as I've ever thought to myself "I NEED to go to Perkins" or "Oh man, CAN'T WAIT to go to Perkins." My dad likes them because he can easily polish off a plate of 5 potato pancakes. I think he hypes them up to be more than they really are. He'll be the first to admit he can't taste things the way he used to. But who am I to tell him no? He survived cancer twice. I'm pretty sure denying him those grease circles and apple sauce would get me a one way ticket to Hell. I have issues ordering from their menu. I've found way too many things to not be what I was expecting and there just isn't that much that appeals to me. I'm much more of an IHOP girl. I go to IHOP and have trouble making a decision. I guess I have trouble deciding here too. However, at IHOP it's because there are so many things I want. Here, I just don't know what to get because nothing speaks to me. Their loaded potato soup is lackluster. I do like that they go heavy on the bacon, but it's missing sour cream. The chicken quesadillas are a bit tough and missing something. I tried to play it safe with a tuna melt last time and it was weirdly sweet. And my water glass is too often left empty or we're left wondering what happened to our server and where our bill is.
