The newest iteration of the Crystal Cafe is my favorite new spot for breakfast. We have been here 5 times now, and have landed on a few favorites. The Chiliquiles is so good, do not ask for them spicy if you can't handle a little flavor. These are on the menu all the time. But if they are offering either their steak and eggs special or their chicken fried steak special, get it! I was not disappointed! The hot sauce with the steak is so flavorful. Been eating from here for a number of years. This place has never been anything fancy per se, but the food has always been solid. One thing I like about this establishment is that they have a menu that boasts a variety of offerings ranging from light to significant and from sweet to savory. The two main items I ordered here are eggs Benedict and the country fried steak. These are both hearty plates and will hold you over until supper time. The underlying English muffins were nothing special. I will admit that when combined with hashed browns it was a lot of food. Went on a Friday during lunch at noon and sat down right away as you seat yourself. Location was not very busy at all during this time. Restaurant is an old school diner that has booth, bar top or table top seating. Servers were very attentive and the food came out very quick after ordering. My country fried steak was so tough it was hard to cut even with a steak knife, and the two orders of sausage links - one was perfectly cooked, an identical order was burnt to a crisp. It it usually quite full and attracts an older crowd and families, although, we usually snag a spot right away without too much trouble. I often get French Toast and something salty. This trip I decided on the Rum & Crunch French Toast with Pecan Smoked Bacon. Overall not too sweet, the crunch adds a nice texture to something that can get boring in large quantities. Plenty of parking in the lot. If you're not a local this might be more of a 3-star stop, but I feel this should be rated higher in its category of a breakfast spot, for the community, and simply for the popularity. The restaurant was busy, but there were tables that had the same number of people as our table (2) that were seated after us and got their food well before we did- by the time we got our food, they were finished eating theirs. The main point you need to know is: if you have a life threatening food allergy, DO NOT EAT HERE. The service here is absolutely atrocious. The whole experience started off with the waitress coming over and without a "Hello" or "How are you doing today?" but instead it was a "what do you want to drink?" as she was tossing down the menu. My girlfriend wanted an iced coffee, and the waitress was unable to recall what flavors they had. Now the real issue comes from when we ordered our food. This cafe offers pecan bacon, which is something I cannot eat or I will die. I informed the waitress of my food allergy and wanted clarification around the bacon that was in the breakfast burrito. She first looked me as if I was crazy or a bother to her. She then replied with "what's listed is what's in it." I have never EVER had anyone be that dismissive to me about my life threatening allergy. The absolute last straw was when she delivered the food. She tossed it in the table as if we were dogs and walked away without saying anything or asking if we needed anything else. We were so shocked by the lack of care in this small interaction that we lost our appetite, and left without touching the food. Which is a shame, as the food looked good and we were excited to try out this cafe. We will not be back because they seem to not care about treating customers with any dignity or respect. This has never happened to us before. Shameful. Please note that the cafe was not busy. There was no line waiting to be seated, and a bunch of empty tables. So I'm not sure why the waitress felt like belittling us when we ordered. 0/5 stars. read more

Fat Nat's line was out the door. Again. So, we thought we'd drive over to CC. What happened to this place? I ordered Eggs Benedict - egg yolks were hard, whites runny. Food was barely warm. Blueberry pancake was cold and barely done, yuck! The booths are worn out so your chin nearly hits the table when you sit down.
