Tried this place yesterday with my sister and I loved it! I personally had a great experience here. The food was delicious. The turkey sausage was delicious and the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great! Just needed to add salt and some black pepper. The pancakes here are so good! I thought they were some of the best pancakes I've had in a long time. My sister ordered one of their seasonal items and wow it was amazing!! They were pancakes stuffed with cream cheese and it was delicious. The crispy tots are so crispy!! They were better than the hash browns so definitely order the crispy tots over the hash browns. The waitress we had was so kind and accommodating! She checked on us frequently and was so sweet Parking is pretty big so you should have no issue finding parking. It's a casual diner spot that feels cozy. I did go on a weekday so I'm not sure how this place is on a weekend, but on a weekday everything was great! To another Perkins? Yes, what drew us there? ...was convenience and a 10% coupon. Kathleen, our server, who had many miles of experience, took care of us. A very competent and sweet soul. I ordered an omelette w/various veggies and a mundane cupcake on the side. Omelette good, cupcake? you already know. My close friend ordered waffles w/bacon & scrambled eggs. All this with a carafe of coffee. The staff looked like they were short handed, like a few of them called in sick, cuz they were really moving fast and really.... it wasn't that crowded. As with most chains, they placate the children with crayons and a variety of placemats to settle them in, so that their parents/grandparents can catch up on the latest gossip and office talk. Sausage not fully cooked. My boyfriend threw up as soon as we pulled into our driveway. Lots of older sick people there as well while we were eating coughing everywhere. I travel to my hometown every other month and Perkins has become the place to head for a good lunch after running errands. Can't beat the price of 1/2 a sandwich, soup and a slice of pie. My usual is the BLT, tomato soup and French silk, but any combo is great. Service is always spectacular. Mixed it up last Friday with the fish/chips platter and was not disappointed. As I was visiting my family in Scranton we figured go to Perkins, a staple. A sure thing. I was wrong. There were lips marks on glasses and the dining room looked less than pristine. That wasn't the worst osrt of all unfortunately. My sister found a dead roach in her breakfast skillet. Thank goodness she looked before she took that bite. I'm absolutely mortified by this. I've been a fan of Perkins since I was a child and we stopped at one on a family road trip to the hideout in PA. I got the potato pancakes and that is all I have gotten since. They are fluffy and delicious and have ruined me to potato pancakes everywhere else. This is my first time at this particular location. Driving home from buffalo after a business trip for work I glanced longingly at the rest stop food signage for anything other than fast food. My eyes lit up in Scranton when I saw the Perkins logo. The thing I love the most about Perkins is they give you your own thermos of coffee. It stays piping hot and you do not have to stalk the waitress or waiter for refills. Sorry to report, it looks like Perkin's keeps dropping it's standards. This was a new low. Very, very slow service, maybe short on servers but, as we waited 15 minutes for a coffee and soft drink, we overheard mixed orders, incorrect items, etc. The food arrived, average quality. I was excited to find this place since they aren't in Texas. I'd heard about Perkins since they donate so much to Give Kids the World. I enjoyed the atmosphere, reminded me a bit of Denny's. The selection of food was interesting and unique. Everyone else's food turned out really well. Unfortunately, my Granny breakfast meal was smothered in so much cheese sauce I could barely eat it. My omelet was delicious but I asked for cheese on the "make your own". Stringy home fries were hard and crunchy but I was just happy they weren't under cooked. Service was good/fast. I understand Perkins is no fancy restaurant, but I expected the presentation to be a little nicer. The eggs were underdone and the sausage links were cold. The pancakes were the best part. I am glad I ordered them, otherwise the meal would have been awful. Although I didn't enjoy my meal, they do have great prices. The entire meal was less than 10.00. That being said, sometimes you get what you pay for... About two minutes after they put our meals on the table, the waitress brought the check over. Let's be serious for a moment. This is Perkins. You get the basics - - chicken, turkey, eggs, salad. Anyone that goes off the expected path, deserves what they get. Also, we cannot compare Perkins to a five star restaurant, because it is not. However, when comparing Perkins to restaurants similar in nature, it is up there at the top (I will explain why shortly). The service is very good. I have been to many Perkins on my travels. Service is usually very good. This visit, I felt like Iced Coffee. There is no Iced Coffee on the menu. The waitress quickly stated that she will get me some coffee and a glass of ice (I know that sounds like an "of course", "obviously" moment, but you cannot imagine how many times that has not happened to me). Well. A few minutes later, the waitress returned with the that large metal holder that is used to make milk shakes, filled with ice and coffee, plus a large glass with just ice. That was Amazing. The food. We had a salad, eggs and turkey. All were a-ok. Nothing was bad, everything was ok. The price is unbeatable. Now, for the single reason I continue to go back to Perkins on my travels. The chocolate silk pie. I just simply think that is the best tasting pie, hands down, and I eat a lot of desserts. I really love the taste of the pie. Here is the only problem I have with the pie. On my last 2-3 visits, I really feel like the slices are getting smaller. Other than the slice being too small, I simply love the pie and it is the single reason I keep going back to Perkins.
