Perma Treat was recommended to us by the employee of a company we were talking to about redoing our countertops. He overheard the conversation of how bad our walk in shower looked and we just couldn't afford to redo it. Perma Treat came out to look at the shower and gave us great information about why the shower looked the way it did; how he could help and what the cost would be. They were great when I needed to reschedule due to Covid. On the day of the deep clean he explained, again, several things and different options we had to get the shower looking even better after the deep clean. Never use this company! Commercial is deceiving, the person who came to my house to do the actual work was not professional looking at all. If my husband wouldn't have been home I wouldn't have let him in. He wore dirty clothes and walked around in dirty socks with huge holes. I doubt he showered before he came out and sweated the entire time. Every time I went to check on him, he was on his phone with either his granddaughter or changing the music he was listening to. Jim had done the quote for both of our tile bathrooms and for new caulking in the shower. The worker spent more time trying to talk me out of the caulking and saying wanted to set up grout work with another company he knew. A three hour job turned into 6 hours, we never say the worker bring in any equipment to 'steam clean' with and when I asked he said they only give me these yellow rags and product. When I asked him about their cleaning product that Jim had mentioned, he told me to just buy some hydrogen peroxide and mix it with some dish soap as that is pretty much what the cleaner is. I highly doubt that he did much of anything. I was so disappointed with the service that i didn't want them back in our house even to look at the crap work but after 11 months and our tile shower looking poorly I finally called and asked them to come out. Warranty...what a joke! The estimator that came out was happy to tell me that they don't warranty caulking but would happily send me a quote for redoing the job for $125 "even though it shouldn't look that way in less than a year" was his comment. He also conveniently didn't have their wonderful product to clean with to see if it would help any, but more than happy to ship me a bottle for $30. read more

The estimator did a good job of educating me on what they could do. The technician, Joe, was prompt and professional. He was able to remove the soot from the pink travertine tile above the fireplace. I was ecstatic as we were not sure if that would be the result. Joe spent a lot of time cleaning and then sealing the grout and small marble tiles on the bathroom floor. It is restored to its original beauty after being grimy from intense use. This was my second time using Perma Treat. I was completely satisfied. read more

The guys from Perma Treat arrived to pressure wash my concrete and stone patios. My house has low water pressure, but I have personally pressure washed the same areas and the house (prior to painting) several times. Since their pressure washers are truck mounted there is a lot of unnecessary hose to get to the washers as well a a lot of pressurized hose before the high pressure water stream exits the nozzle. I asked them if they had a washer on wheels with shorter hoses. They said no. I told them I had washed many time with a 4,000 psi portable washer The guys said they couldn't do the washing. I was just amazed that they gave up so easily! Since I had made a $750 deposit n my $1,500 job, I was sort of over a barrel. I told them I'd do the washing. I'm 70 years old for cryin' out loud! Jim, the owner offered me a $500 credit if I did the washing. We settled on a $750 credit. So I rented a 3,500 psi washer and a trailer and did the job in about 7 hours. Cost: under $200. But it wore me out. A couple of days later, they came and sprayed their proprietary water repellant on the stone and concrete with garden sprayers. All done in about 3 hours. Less than three months into the 180 month guarantee I'm already disappointed. Clean rain water is staining the stonework and grout where it collects in shallow depressions. The black stain under one of the pots has blackened the concrete again. Water that drains out of the pots is also leaving a noticeable trail I am not impressed. I should have cancelled the contract when they said they couldn't pressure washed the decks. What a joke to just give-up when it proves to be a little harder than expected. But my wife wanted the sealer from the TV commercials and I figured there would be less fallout (for me) if she got what she wanted. What a mistake. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for my sealing and pressure washing contractor. read more

I stopped by the booth at the Arizona Home and Garden so to see about the use of this Perma-Treat product on my 2500 sq. ft out door patio. The owner of the franchise for Phoenix knew basically nothing about the product except that it was a mineral based sealer, nothing else. Having been in the sealing and waterproofing business I was shocked to hear these dribble nonsense comments coming out of his mouth. I then got home a looked at the reviews posted. We recently received an estimate for some interior tile cleaning and sealing on the main floor of our home and in our master bath. Total estimate came to ~2,400, but any scheduling (first available slot was three months out) had to be accompanied with a %50 deposit. When I called PT, I was informed that they required the deposit to keep people from cancelling their scheduled appointments. Given there was minimal materials and this was a service job (i.e. required no pre-purchase of materials to justify the deposit) I offered a smaller non-refundable amount. I was told that if I didn't want to pay the 50%, then they didn't need my business. Good luck to you PT. Hope when the economy slows down or when competition grows you learn that you can't treat customers that way. read more

Horrible experience with a company that advertises on TV. The product didn't work like they said. Jim the owner is as rude as other customer have said. He didn't believe his product didn't work until he came a looked at the job. We found a better product ourselves despite Jim still saying his product was better and different. Jim's tech was in disbelief that the product didn't work and he tried to hand spray the entire 3300 sq ft of pavers. They wound up leaving 2 spray bottles with us and basically told us to continue to do touch ups. Jim had the audacity to threaten to sue us after we video taped him yelling at my wife saying basically she was speaking out of her a**. Definitely not worth the 4K that was spent! Do not use this product on marble counter tops! We installed marble in our kitchen in 2004 knowing that marble is soft. However, for 10 years we had no scratching on the counter tops. We did have what we called "water spotting," however, as a result of hard well water that we did not treat the first few years we lived in the house. After a decade of water spotting, we call the counter top installer in Salem to grind and repolish our counters. They told us they no longer do that work and referred us to Perma-Treat, a product we'd seen offered for sale in at least one high-end Portland furniture store. When the Perma-Treat rep came out to look at our counters, we explained the "water spotting" problem. The rep told us Perma-Treat prevented "staining." What the rep did not tell us is that Perma-Treat refers to "water spotting" as "etching," not "staining." We did not realize we were not talking about the same problem. We had never had a "stain" on our counters. Perma-Treat gets the 2 Yelp stars because the repolishing came out great. But our counter tops began to scratch almost immediately, and of course the "water spotting" continued, mostly now caused by acidic food spills. When we complained, Perma-Treat's owner came out to look at our counters. That's when we learned the difference between "staining," "etching," and "water spotting." The scratches were already beginning to show. He offered no refund or additional work. It's been over a year, and I cry every time I clean the counters, they are so scratched. We paid a lot for the repolishing and treatment. What a mistake. I don't know why Yelp has hidden some of the critiques of Perma-Treat. I wish I'd read them before we signed up. read more

Owner came to our hose and we discussed what we wanted. Quoted us $2,500.00. He took his notes and said he would e-mail a estimate. 2,500 was a lot more than we expected but my wife really wanted to get this done. Spent the weekend moving everything off the floors and counters. When the crew arrives they told us that our master bathroom floor was not on the bid. I a said sorry for your time we are not interested. They called the owner who said he would include it. Then they said other things were not included. We ended up having them leave and gave up our 50% deposit. I did the sealing with "511 Impregnator Sealer" from Home Depot. $33.00 and it looks great. Stay away from this place it's a real ripoff. I must say the employee's were great. It's king of funny that the owner made a big deal about giving me a veterans discount, then pulled this crap on Veterans Day. read more

I told him we have had other quotes that came with different samples of caulking. Jim came with none! Told us they will come only with Home Depot caulking,and he could match. We have a similar experience with Jim, the owner. He is pain in the neck and is a complete jerk. The price he charged was very high compare to a granite fabricator company. Their product doesn't hold up to other companies guarantees like Stain-Proof from Dry-Treat. We don't recomend his products. Sealer is not permanet. You can get quality products from a big company like Dry-Treat for a lot less money and hassel. It has a 15 year warranty from the manufacturer. read more

We are very happy with the final product but it took awhile to get there due to unacceptable work the first time they came. This was true for both our beach condo and primary residence. The first treatment didn't look good so I wrote an email saying that I realize they did not guarantee perfection so that may be a "gotcha," but could they make it better? Jim came out and was extremely rude, yelling at me for the "gotcha" word and insulting my business. I felt that he would never have been so rude if I were a man as he'd get punched! The next guy who came out did a great job and matched the grout. At our condo, the first treatment did not look much better than the original tile, so I called again. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. We used Perma-Treat in 2010 for our new house, and it is not a quality product. The weekend ads are annoying and the "life-time" warranty is not true. We attempted to enforce the advertised "lifetime-warranty" and the owner, Jim, responds to life-time warranty and product issues with double-talk, and excuses and avoids direct questions, then states he no longer uses the product used on our tile, sinks and toilets. Casually says he has his own mix of hydrogen peroxide product to remove the discoloration which he will gladly sell us this product for $49.95...what a crock. He should pull his TV ads as they are not true. There is no "life-time warranty" on a product they no longer support. Stay away from this company, as the "life-time warranty" is not true, and it is not applied well, and doesn't hold up. read more

Jim Toma approached me with the idea that he would clean and apply a new product to our stamped concrete in exchange for letting KGW film the application for advertising. I agreed to this proposal. They arrived with film crew and commenced with the cleaning and application of the new product on our front entrance. His crew then moved to our rear patio and began cleaning. the process was to remove the seal coat by buffing the concrete with a screening pad on a large floor buffer. While the rear was being cleaned the front was getting the application of the new product. The finished coating failed to work. Jim brought the cleaning crew back to the front entrance and screened off the product with the buffer and pad for the second time. He was on the cell phone to the manufacture rep while the front was ground down for the second time. KGW filmed the first application and then setup to film the back yard process. After Jim finished talking to the manufacturer, they commenced to apply the product the second time. Once again the product failed. Jim was back on the phone with the manufacturer rep. The manufacturers representative came to the job site and met with Jim. The decision resulted in another removal of the product. Then the application of the third coating. The third coating also failed! Jim sent the film crew away and he removed the third coat of the product. He then left the concrete and told me he would get back to me "next summer". The front concrete was ground down to the point that the stamped concrete color was completely gone and bare cement showed in the majority of the surface. We put up with this ugly appearance until the warm weather the next year. I called Jim about getting started and he came to the house and after looking it over he presented me with a $4700 proposal. When I refused to accept this and asked him about his promise to fix the problem he told me off in a huff and said it was my problem. I made a complaint to BBB and Jim responded with a letter filled with lies regarding the entire issue and suggested that I go to the original builder who put in bad cement. KGW has continued to utilize the photos of our front of house with wet shining cement that does not look anything like the finished product Jim left us with. read more

I have a large walk in shower that has been exposed to hardwater for 20 years. The grout was gray with minerals and the tiles were white with crusted lime (we have well water). This took a couple of days to clean and the work was outstanding. I also have a wall of glass tiles which were streaked with calcium and they are now spotless. Although my outdated, but still beautiful color, tile was a hard match for caulking, I was able to find it on my own and they put it in for me. They tried to satisfy me without complaint. we had black stains in the caulking of our shower. Perma Treat came out and cleaned, re-caulked and sold us their cleaner for $809.75. Guaranteed it would never come back. Just 4 months later the stains returned. I had Jim come out and he said despite having a professional house cleaner clean the shower twice a month, that we weren't using enough cleaner and need to do it more often. We got to the point of cleaning every day with the cleaner and using bleach as well and still have stains. I asked them to come back and re-clean and re-caulk and they said it will be $125 and can't do it for a month. Bad product, bad warranty, bad customer service. stay away! read more

What ever you do don't use this company. They did my slate patio and it has never looked this bad in 10 years. The owner said that they don't strip the old sealers off because it is to caustic, so they apply their sealer over the top. When I complained about the job, he said we don't guarantee the product we used and the discoloration was my old sealer. We love what they did to our granite counter tops, but as far as the shower very disappointed. First guy said he couldn't get the water stains out of the stone then he repaired caulking with wrong color of grout. So they came back out about a month later to fix issues. The second guy still didn't bring to correct color even though I told them what color I have. He didn't address any of our concerns other than reapplying wrong color over the grout again. The grout molds just as fast as it did before they treated it. I am only rating them this high because the counter tops turned out very good. Don't bother. Used Perma Treat in Bend for our granite counter and not only did they over spray everything (windows, cabinets) I had to constantly tell them it was not clean yet. The men tracked dirt through my house and didn't clean up afterward. It took me a full day to clean my floors, windows and cabinets after they left. After the treatment to my counter it did not look any better. I would not waste my money or time and it is absolutely not worth the headache!!!! read more

The clear seal product they sell advertises they will restore you tile and grout to be like "new" and it will last for a lifetime. After less than 2 years my tile and grout became discolored even though I followed their instructions for cleaning with their special cleaner that cost $25 a bottle. I contacted them and the owner came to my home. He told me we had hard water in our area which allowed soap scum to build up and difficult to clean. He suggested another deep cleaning which costs $250. Their technician was not able to clean/restore the tile and grout back to new. I am left totally dissatisfied. He suggested I purchase a special steam cleaner for home use. WHAT, I thought the sealer was supposed to make my surfaces low maintenance. The product now only failed their claims, I'm now worried their product has damaged my surfaces so I will never get it looking like it should. We had Perma-Treat apply their coating to our tile shower and glass in 2011. At the time of the service, I was told to regularly clean the shower and spray it with 10% bleach from time to time to keep the mold from re-growing. I followed their advice and the seal seemed to hold up for several years. Recently however black stains appeared on the grout in spots. Because they offer a lifetime warranty, I called them and requested that they that look at it. They suggested a $50 cleaner that they told me would remove the stains. I purchased the product and applied it repeatedly for 6 months. The discoloration improved a bit but the product did not completely remove the black stains. I asked them to come back today and felt that the visit was confrontational. I was told I was late when my appointment was scheduled to start at 12:15pm but apparently the service person showed up at 11:45am. The solution offered was for me to pay $250 to have them clean the shower. Over the years, I've referred three customers to them, but will no longer do so. They lost a customer today too. I'm giving them 2 stars because it worked for awhile but I'm disappointed in how I was treated today and that they didn't stand behind their product. read more
