If you're looking for simple great lobster and clams here is where you want to find. It's tucked down a little ways off the main road but right on the water. If you want wine or a beer it's BYOB... they also have only a sink outside to wash your hands and port-o-lets out back should you need... But back to the reason we're here. You see the tanks of lobsters literally on the docks, and the guys bring them In fresh right past the tables. I had 2 one and a half pounders, and a pound of steamers. I know my limit. The table behind me ordered a 2 pound and 3 pound lobsters. They took up the whole tray! You can get soft shells or hard. I like soft. The meat is sweeter. Plenty of parking across the street, credit cards accepted great place!!

Super conflicted about this place... CONS We got here at 620 Got seated at 730 Didn't get served until 830 Probably the longest wait I've ever had at a roadside "shack" No indoor seating. True to its name Lobster roll was $35 BUT It was the best lobster roll I've had so... Maybe this should be a takeout only place?

Awesome! Awesome! Great vibe sitting out on the dock on a beautiful day. Service was fast, informative, and friendly. Food was incredible and fairly priced. We tried the soft shell dinner, lobster roll of the day, and lobster mac and cheese -- it was all great. Desserts were incredible, both the blueberry pie and the molasses ice cream sandwich with ginger ice cream, wow!

Perry's Lobster Shack - can't get any closer to the water without falling in!

Came here on the recommendation of a local friend - but was sadly disappointed by the lobster roll. To start, it was easily the most expensive I have seen since home this summer. As for the sandwich itself, it are dry to me. Roll was not buttered and toasted, which I think would have helped, and the ratio of lobster to bread was off for me. The lobster salad filling itself was good - just the right amount of Mayo and nothing extra. The slaw was vinegar based, which I like, but it just ate too sweet for me. I wanted more of the vinegar punch to cut through the rich lobster. Onion rings were good - and hot. The view was spectacular and staff was friendly.

We started our vacation in Maine on June 15th. We were driving from Bangor to Bar Harbor and decided to detour a bit from the direct route. We were so glad we did! The food was amazing and the views were a painter's dream. This was the perfect spot to unwind and relax after the flights and to get in vacation mode. The server was incredible and we loved every second.

Beautiful location with excellent service and wonderful food. If you are wanting to escape the crowds of Bar Harbor come to Perry's. Eating whole lobsters and lobster rolls while sitting on the dock overlooking the water is peaceful and priceless. Check out the Perry's combo special.

Great lobster, and clam chowder. Great price too! Be sure to bring your own adult beverage if you want to partake

Second times the charm. Came back and this time the steamers were perfection. The lobster grilled cheese great and my first time trying soft shell lobster was a success. Super sweet and easy to open. Lovely view as always. Worth it!

It's BYOB so save $$ while feasting on local fresh seafood. Lobster Nachos and specials every day. Enjoy the final days.

My friend had a lobster roll for $30...it was served on a KAISER roll. Lobster was not tender, plentiful or sweet. What shocked and disturbed me was they charge extra for grilling! Crabmeat grill cheese sandwich was $35, deemed okay. Salad was fresh and good enough. This is a byob and we did bring our own wine...but when we asked for an opener, we were told they didn't have one. Luckily one appeared about the time we were going to ask other patrons. At least the people at other tables were friendly. An ice cream/gelateria was recommended. I'd already downed half a piece of Maine blueberries pie, but we went to have ice cream and then went to the park at the boat dock to watch the Osprey, great blue herons and a couple of other fishermen til the bugs drove us off. I'd recommend the Lobster Net for their food quality.

Overall, the food was good, but a couple of small details held it back from a full 5 stars. The fries tasted a bit like the oil was burnt and due for a change, and I found a piece or two of shell in my crab roll slider. Still a really nice place to grab a bite by the water--just needs a minor tweak on the fry oil and prep detail. Would definitely stop back by for the view and hospitality!

Sweet Baby Jesus. If…read moreyou're the sort of person who requires cloth napkins, tasteful lighting and a waiter named Chad who explains the provenance of every pea on your plate, don't go here. But if you want honest food at today's prices, pull up a chair. The lobster roll was a revelation. Not that mayonnaise-based lobster purée somebody scraped out of a tub and smeared onto a bun that had been sitting around since the Carter administration. This was real chunks of lobster, lightly seasoned, piled onto a fresh roll and left alone to taste like lobster. Then came the steamers. Sweet mercy. Those steamers were the best thing I have tasted since 1974, and I'm not entirely sure what happened in 1974, but apparently somebody knew how to steam a clam. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive and without the usual modern-day restaurant ritual of wondering whether your server has forgotten you exist. The décor? Let's just say aging fish camp chic. If you're looking for polished brass and a chandelier imported from France, keep driving. If you want the feeling that somebody might walk in carrying a cooler full of flounder, you're home. For the love of all that is holy, give this place a try. Come hungry. Leave happy. And if you encounter a cloth napkin, somebody has probably made a terrible mistake

The employees were fun and they made the experience nicer. The next day it was time for lunch and my husband said lets go back to the Traveling Lobster, I said (and later regretted) no let's try somewhere else. We tried a place with a catchy lobster name and the teenage boy, behind the counter of the takeout as he handed us our change said, you're leaving me a tip - right? In unison we both said no. I added we don't tip workers at McDonalds, we're not tipping you and even if we did, we wouldn't tip you because of your demand, he walked away nonplussed, to add insult to injury the food was mediocre for the price. Later that afternoon we tried another lobster stand, and it was worse; the food was terrible for the price, we ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese and there was not a shred of lobster in it, we ended up taking it back and getting our money. Starving, we went back to the Traveling Lobster and had another great meal, listened to trivia and left satisfied. What we learned is if a stand isn't busy or has few cars, don't bother, there's a reason. By all means go the Travelin Lobster, the parking lot is busy, the line moves fast and the food comes out fast and excellent, the employees don't attempt to shame you into tipping them and when you order lobster mac and cheese, you get plenty of lobster. I also learned that my sweet husband is sometimes right :).

If you like a relatively minimalist lobster roll like we do, it's pretty perfect, with just a little mayo, enough salt to give the meat a bit of flavor, and a generous portion of perfectly cooked meat. The onion rings are my platonic ideal -- thinly cut and just a little crunchy batter. The fried pickles were surprisingly good too, again not overly battered and the pickle slices are not at all mushy. The house lemonade is great as well, and the chocolate soft serve was some of the best I've ever had. Lots of seating outside but in a rarity for the area there is a decent amount of booth seating in the cute inside as well. Would happily eat here every day if I could and would still love to try the crab roll!
