Half special half meat lovers with olives on whole pizza
    Peter Y.

You get a frisbee with the pizza?! Yup, I'm a fan. Great tasting pizza--had to go with the half special and half meat lovers cause pictures of it looked great on their yelp page. Big bits of bacon and fresh veggies, just can't beat it. Will be back! Go here for very good food and service.

Stop #2 on the Summer of pizza tour. I had to stop in at work which is in Troy so we decided to drive to Clawson and try Perry's. We ordered a small round with half pepperoni and the other half meat lovers. Also a side of ranch dressing. The pizza was cooked and meat was generous. Ranch was a little different but still tasted pretty good. My daughter enjoyed the pizza but really wanted just cheese. Since they don't have seating we enjoyed lunch at the Clawson Park

Cheesy breadsticks add jalapeño - get in my belly

Full disclosure -- I have a tomato allergy, so I've never actually had their classic pizza. I CAN say that their cheese bread is out of this world. It's classic cheese bread, with plenty of parm, cooked to perfection. (The one in my photo has jalapenos added, cuz yum). They're open late, which I love. Last time, I ordered cheese bread with only 20 minutes until they closed, fully prepared to be told no or be chewed out by a salty pizza guy, but he was super kind.

So I have had several people recommend this place. So I tried it for the first time today. I ordered it online, but apparently, I am a high on and added lettuce as a topping instead of tomato. They so tried to fix my dumb ass mistake. I am an idiot. The pizza was delicious, and the great was delicious as well. The sauce was very flavorful pizza had a nice flop. One thing to say they are very liberal with toppings. I will order again.

    Italian sub
    Sara D.

I ordered the Italian sub and he ordered the pizza sub. There was a TON of lettuce on it and it was over baked, leaving the bun hard in spots and a little burned on top. After taking some of the lettuce off, it tasted great, but I did have to avoid eating some of the bun. Eric's was also a little over-baked. He said the flavor was really good, though.

Very solid pizza. No scrimping on items either. Will order here again when we are in Clawson!

Probably the worst place to get pizza in Royal Oak/Clawson. The sauce is the absolute worst, and the bread has no flavor.

As a New Haven pizza fan, the REAL kind, I was extremely disappointed. I know that after having eaten the real New Haven (Pepe's, Sally's, and Modern), I need to tighten down my expectations, but come on! They have these beautiful ovens, a nice, clean, and pleasant place and they turn out what I would consider pizza no better, perhaps a little less good than Hungry Howies thin crust pizza! New Haven is supposed to be crispy and chewy, NOT soggy. I tried Farmington Hills a few months ago and ate in, then last week tried Birmingham and carried out. For those of you thinking that my carry-out experience may have been bad due to the 3 miles I had to drive home, but I've carried out a LOT of pies from a LOT of locations, and I DO take that into account. There are some positives: The ingredients were impeccable. Fresh, high-quality cheese and the mushrooms were done really well. The pepperoni was of good quality but nothing worth writing home about. There are a lot of great pepperonis in the area. The doneness was great. It wasn't over- or undercooked. The flavor was good, but not, as some have said, amazing. In both cases, the crust was limp and soggy, NOT chewy and crispy. Not in the least. I don't mind if it's a little bit floppy, but not like this. An analogy I might give is to compare Tomatoes Apizza to Modern Apizza in actual New Haven is like comparing Jets Pizza to Loui's. Jet's is fine, but Loui's! (If you know, you know). To me, Modern in New Haven is at par, and not to be sacrilegious to our beloved Detroit Style, with Loui's or Palazzo Di Pizza, so it's not a style issue. My two experiences were both the same, so I don't know what to think. I'll give them one more try at some point.

I will preface this by saying I didn't order a pizza. That being said I ordered the grilled cheese…read morewhich touted mozzarella, pesto, baby spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes on sourdough. I opted for the garlic fries upcharge, bringing my total to $19.00. Somehow I justified it because I like these toppings and these toppings weirdly weren't available on a pizza. Or at least I didn't see it via the phone based ordering system. Yes, that's right, this is all of the future check with wrist bands and pour your own beer situation. Don't look for a paper menu, they ain't here. My sandwich wasn't a grilled cheese. It was basically pesto toast with large sun-dried tomatoes and scraps of mozzarella. Baby spinach was just missing. I did inquire to the host (perchance the only actual employee?) and he did talk to the kitchen and I guess they were out. With that information I turned to my friend Robert and said, "You know why we have servers? So they can let you know they're 86 spinach." I suppose I would have adjusted my order had I known this too. What's nuts is, they have ingredients to make a better grilled cheese. I mean, step one: add cheese. Why not mix the ricotta and pesto together and then add like havarti or something that may actually melt and have flavor. The sun-dried tomatoes should be sliced smaller. The garlic fries were fine, but also could have had more flavor. Robert's and neighboring table's pizza looked fine. Is it better than any other place offering Detroit style pizza? Hard to say. I guess I'm not in a hurry to go back. The kind host did make an adjustment to my bill for lack of spinach--but having a server would have prevented that being necessary.

I was heading home hungry when I passed Elephant & Co, a restaurant I had on my radar for months…read more It was way past lunch and well before dinner, so I was surprised by the steady stream of customers in this pizza/tap/game room, a difficult genre to define. Upon entering, the staffer explained the set-up to enjoy a variety of beers, poured and priced by the volume. Located at the back of the restaurant, customers can select beer flavors and serve themselves, no bartender needed. A tab is started and charged based on usage, tracked through the wristband provided to you. I ordered over mobile via a QR code, selecting pretzel sticks with beer cheese dip and a large, Detroit-style pizza. The soft pretzels were tender with a lovely crusty exterior. I inhaled the first pretzel since it was past lunchtime, savoring the salty, cheesy bites. I must admit, the pretzels' saltiness temporarily affected my taste buds because the pizza had little flavor, even with the pepperoni, sausage, and olives. I definitely did not taste the hot honey drizzle. I want to praise the light, airy crust. For a deep dish pizza, it did not sit heavy in my tummy. I also appreciated that the pizza was served on a rack, to allow air circulation and to prevent sogginess. The space was dark and had both large communal tables and smaller, intimate tables. This allowed for larger groups to enjoy community beyond a friend group. The other plus is the board games that are available to pass the time while enjoying various beers.
