The famous stuffed pizza is unique and full of flavor, no matter the toppings...err stuffing. My favorite is simply cheese and veggies, sans tomatoes. We also order pepperoni and mushroom stuffed. The Chicken Shawarma is delicious, as well as the Royal Oaker. It's a must try in Detroit! What a unique pizza!! Definitely worth a try at least once. Surprisingly doesn't just taste like crust, which is what I thought originally based on the pictures I saw. Great amount of toppings and it holds up really well. Ordered extra garlic on the crust but didn't really taste it though. :( Will be put in the pizza rotation. The cheese bread and ranch are both great! We also split a small Caesar salad which was a good amount for two people as a side. read more

If you asked me 5 years ago what the absolute best pizza is. It's Tania's, through and through. It was my favorite pizza as a kid, especially with the gorgeous butter n' parm glazed dough baked to a well-done crisp; it hovered over what was the greatest sauce known to man, the basil-y creaminess of the tomato was unlike anything my taste buds had ever endured at that time. My parents recognized my love for Tania's so much that I was only allowed to get it when my grades were good, my chores were done, and ONLY if I was respectful. I almost cried of excitement seeing that big brown cardboard box; retrospectively symbolizing all of our petty, yet strict motivations as children. Nowadays, I would prefer Loui's, Palazzo, or Crispelli's. And yes, I believe this place has suffered the same kind of fate as that specific wood-fired cuisine, in that this place actually USED to be something incredible, something to cherish. There's a reason I say it was the greatest food, like I'm telling you right now. If you went here a while ago, 6/5. You would agree with me. Here's the unfortunate thing. It's the same interior, same service, same price, heck even the same recipe. I think it's the new workers or owners that might not be making it the way it should be, but I could be wrong! Maybe something changed, maybe nothing changed. Maybe my taste buds shifted over time, maybe I started liking less dough on my pizza, maybe I'm just schizophrenic. But this is not the same pie as the one I tried before. They've emphasized a heavier crust with a lot less sauce, which is then PACKED with cheese. If I'm completely honest, those are all the opposite's of my preferred style of pizza. When I bite into it, it tastes like a calzone. Which it is. But wanna know what it used to taste like? Tania's Pizza. I'm more sad than disappointed, more dissatisfied than upset. I hope the current owner sees this and makes a difference, because I miss my favorite pizza. I remember the first time I walked into Tania's Pizza over six and a half years ago. I wasn't even there for food, but I met Amos, who welcomed me with incredible kindness. He gave me three slices of pizza for free since I had never tried it before. I got into my car, and the amazing aroma filled the air. I couldn't resist--I ate all three slices right there in the parking lot. I remember thinking, This is really good pizza. Fast forward to today, and I've had almost everything on the menu--except Sam's Hawaiian Pizza and the Veggie Pizza. Every bite over the years has been just as delicious as that first one. The crust is always perfectly crisp, the sauce is rich and flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh. Beyond the amazing food, the warmth and hospitality at Tania's Pizza make it feel like home. I finally got to try Tania's because its take and bake pizzas were on DashMart (on Doordash), and I cooked it at home last night. Tania's had been on my list for a while now, because its stuffed crust is so unique - I don't know anyone else who does it in this area. The DashMart version came with the butter and garlic topping for me to add myself. The pizza was very good. I asked them on Instagram if they sell pepperoni, etc. stuffed pizzas and they said they're actually waiting on USDA approval for that, so for now they only offer cheese. I think it could be improved a bit with pepperoni or other topping offerings but it was very good with just cheese. I'll be stopping by at some point to get a pizza straight from them at some point, since the take and bake one was so good. read more

What a hidden gem. Looks like just a liquor store from outside. Known for there stuffed pizza tried the "Royal Oaker" Voted best pizza by Motor City Fest in 2014, 2015 and 2017! We were in the area for ice skating, and decided to stop at Tania's to grab a pizza beforehand. We had to order the stuffed crust, and we weren't disappointed. We ate in the back of the car at the park, it was a nice day for an impromptu picnic. The crust on both sides is thin and crisp with some nice garlic butter seasoning, with a plethora of cheese and meat inside. I was wondering how they'd show the half and half, they had a pepperoni sticking partway out of the side! And the taste - delicious! The large is pretty big and quite filling, it was too much for one adult and two kids. But YMMV. We will be back when we're in the area. read more

If you happened to walk into Tania's you might pick up a few drinks and leave without ever realizing it's actually home to a unique and fantastic pizza shop. At first glance, it looks like just any other liquor store! After seeing a lot of internet hype around Tania's recently, I decided to stop in and try it out myself to see what all the hype was really about. A few reviews mentioned that there can be long wait times, so I ordered online (which is always great when you can order directly from their website), and went to pick up. When picking up I did end up waiting 5-10 minutes past my pickup time, but it wasn't a huge deal, and I could tell they were having a busy night. I ordered the stuffed Royal Oaker and have 0 regrets. I opted to go for the extra cheese and extra butter (100% would recommend) -- it may not be the healthiest food in the world, but you're not getting stuffed pizza every day, you might as well make it worth it! The stuffed pizza is a really great concept and brings in the best of both Calzones and Pizza. I also got the cheese sticks, and no disappointments there either. The cost overall was really reasonable and the amount of food was easily enough for 2 meals. We ordered a cheese pizza, a stuffed royal oaker, some cheese bread and the garlic bread. The pizzas were wonderful. Not greasy and crispy, which is how we like it. I really dug the stuffed pizza, the parmesan on top reminded me of OG bread sticks. The cheese bread was good. They drop 1 star from me for two reasons, the first being the garlic bread. It just was plain Jane bread. Not sure what I was looking for, but it just wasn't doing it for me. Second, the ranch they gave me tasted weird. Like...too much buttermilk was used in the mix. Very unique pizza with great breadsticks. They are different in that it is a true "pie" with a very thin crust on top. I liked the crust, but I only had pepperoni and quite frankly I didn't taste any pepperoni at all. Cheese and sauce were nice and the crust has a little garlic butter type flavor. They've always been great but with the latest global situation going on right now, they've really been stepping up to take care of the health of their employees and customers while still delivering the same great service. **BE PATIENT WITH THE PROCESS** While ordering for the time being, you need to order online for what you want (pizza, beverages, other snacks, etc.). Fill out the information asked, determine whether you want to pick it up or have it delivered. When you get there after waiting for the time that is required or when they call you and say your order is ready, call them again to let them know you're there and how you arrived. It's a pain but they're doing their absolute best to serve the community and I am truly thankful that they are doing this and saving us from needing to go to the grocery store for alcohol. I ordered a veggie pizza just to try it out since it had above 4 ratings on yelp. I ordered the 14 inch large pizza, veggie pizza. It Comes with mozzarella, tomato, mushrooms, yellow peppers, onions, Green peppers and Black olives. It was about $15 for the pizza. The price wasn't bad. The pizza was alright, just average. I was questioning whether the best pizza here was their stuffed pizza or the calzones, would they have been better choices than the veggie pizza? The pizzas weren't bad, my husband ate it up, then again he doesn't like food to go to waste either. I had I only a piece since it was carb worthy to eat any more of it. I dint recall eating the crust, if it doesn't look chewy, I tend to pass on it. I have never understood the hype for this place, after trying it once. Had to see what all the hype was about, and now I get it! We of course went with the stuffed option and ordered a large-which was plenty of food for two people and enough for lunch leftovers the following few days. You can order online which is convenient just be prepared for it to take an hour to make your order. They are busy for a reason! The Deluxe + pepperoni was excellent and the tania's cheese bread was a perfect addition as well as the antipasto salad with Nikki's greek dressing. The cheese bread comes with a garlic sauce that is out of this world. I could drink it! We ordered our pizza well done which I would recommend if you don't like soggy dough- just enough crisp for a stuffed pizza. They brush the top with a garlic butter and you can always ask for extra. yum! If you are not familiar Tania's is located in a strip mall so be careful not to miss it. I have to admit that I wasn't very optimistic about this place, wondering how a pizza from a liquor store can be so good to have so many great reviews. But I was curious about the stuffed one and it took a while but we finally decided to try it. Man, I was SO WRONG!!! Again, I wasn't expecting much (mind you it's a liquor store) but to my surprise the pizza was amazing! I couldn't belive that such a simple concept was executed so well. We went with two medium size stuffed pies, one with pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes and second one with mushrooms, onions and vegan cheese. This was by far the best vegan pizza I've had. Huge respect for them for using Violife cheese witch is one of the best choices for vegan cheese. Most places use cheep Dayia which is terrible and many times I opt for no cheese. Tumbs up for it! Please don't change it! The pizza was delicious! Perfectly melted inside, good ratio of toppings and dough. And the garlic salt on top makes it even better. The dough is kinda "bready" if can give it a comparison and I don't think I would like the regular pizza with this dough but it works perfectly for the stuffed version. I didn't had a chance to check items inside the store, I was just there to pickup pizza and the staff was very friendly. This was the 'go-to' pizza place for Royal Oak high/Kimball High for years and now has competition from the Marcos chain that is literally on the same lot as the school. You need to try it, this place is the better option when it comes to quality and options. The stuffed crust is the one you should try, it's filling and has a good garlic/buttery flavor. Order one of the stuffed and alongside the hand tossed or thin to compare it. See for yourself, it's better than what a national chain can provide. It wasn't the best I had in the city, but considering that it is around $1.50 for a slice and considering how friendly they are, and that they serve slices late at night when many don't, I will definitely give them five stars. initial 2/5 review (3 at end) my girlfriend and i have wanted to try tania's for awhile because of their vegan stuffed pizza -- we finally ordered a couple pizzas today. i've had a shit ton of pizzas in my life, and i had reasonably high expectations for this pizza... but it fell flat. the crust is flaccid and oddly, how else do i say it -- spongy. there's a lot of it, it's flavorless (despite the soy butter they use and garlic), and the texture is just off. having it cooked longer could help, but it wouldn't help with my next irk: the sauce isn't good. it doesn't taste like much. there's no "zing" of acidity, it's not salted or at all sweet... it's just sort of there, and very bland. the violife cheese picks up some of the slack, but gooey cheese (or in this case, "cheese") with an underwhelming crust and forgettable sauce just makes for a very mediocre pizza. two large stuffed pizzas delivered ran about $50 (after tip), and it's enough to comfortably feed two people for about four meals, but when the pizza's this bland... would you really want to? i whole heartedly appreciate their violife "cheese" option, but i simply can't help but feel like their stuffed pizza creation is nothing more than a gimmick that gets the attention of children and people with little knowledge/experience/tastings of pizza... for having 35 years of business to date, i was definitely expecting a more flavorful slice. UPDATE: actually a solid 3/5 after i air fried my leftovers. it made a bigger difference than i expected. i guess the solution would just be to have your pizza ordered well done to begin with. they just really gotta work on their sauce recipe, because it tastes like pureed canned tomatoes and nothing else. i'll try tania's out again in the future, after initially writing them off entirely. read more

Flavorful, garlickly (if you so choose), indulgent, consistent, crust-filled pizza! Let's face it, excellent crust is kind of what makes the pizza, and Tanias does it the right way!! And you can choose just how done you want the crust- which is absolutely perfect because everyone has a preference for wanting it more or less brown/ crispy/ well done.... I always choose well done and I'm NEVER disappointed. It's a little hike in the wall spot that I'm super happy to have happened upon. Tania's pizza is a diverse treat. Our son loves the stuffed crust for a diversion. The market also has a ton of craft beer selection.

I would love to be able to give this place a 3 1/2 stars. I really like their stuffed pizza. It has the perfect amount of crust. It's not heavy by any means. The cheese they use it quite meaty which is always a plus. The toppings are tasty and they add a good amount to the pizza. The one draw back is the never seems to be enough sauce which perplexes me. I think if they add more sauce and seasoning to the inside of the pizza I would be off my diet- quick, fast and in a hurry. Their kinda on the high end of alcohol prices. I say this because every thing seems to be at least $1 more than other places. The dust on the bottles of wine tell me other people probably think so as well. read more
