Estimated to $2,000.00. Dr. Loflin had moved and I didn't know where his new office was. Luckily, I was thrilled to locate him. I went back to see him. He took X-rays of my tooth from every side, with a lot of attention. My tooth had no damage. I did not need the work. He could have agreed with the other, done unnecessary work and scam me out of $2,000.00. I know that he cares about me and does his best for me. I've sent a few people to him and they all "love" him. Honestly, do not go here. You're probably better off with Wally or one of these other no-frills…read moredentist outfits. I was handed over to Zendentistry when my old dentist retired. They slotted me in with someone I was not comfortable with from the start. Immediately, the culture changed. If you like Grand Central, they bring it right into the dentist's office. Assistants rushing around, people chatting and clanging into things. A real display of chaos that makes dental work feel like a construction site. The new dentist did a cleaning and told me my crown would probably fall off. It did. I went back. They cleaned the area, treated what needed to be treated, and replaced the crown. Immediately, I could feel that something was wrong. My bite was grinding, and the gap around the crown was all I could feel when I ate. I went back and had them adjust the bite. When I questioned the gap, I was told it had always been there. Too dismissive, too defensive. I knew what my mouth felt like before the crown was replaced, and I knew what it felt like afterward. I got a second opinion. That dentist thought the entire thing needed to be redone. Instead of stepping back and reconsidering the work, I was eventually pressured into letting them do a bridge. That bridge failed along with the crown they had placed, leaving me dealing with the consequences and looking for yet another dentist. And the way they handled my questions was almost as troubling as the work itself. The dentist who did the procedure was laughing and joking with colleagues while stretching out my mouth. When I questioned the results, I felt dismissed and pressured rather than listened to. At one point I was told my tooth was moving, then the dentist told me it had been a difficult job. That was news to me. It certainly wasn't communicated while she was working on me. If you like the feeling of being rushed through dental work, pressured into additional treatment, and then made to feel like you're the problem when you question the results, you'll love this place. One thing they are really good at is dodging responsibility. The managers seem to have plenty of time away from the office when you're trying to get help with a problem. I like a dentist who is communicative, careful, and knows what they're doing. This is not my dentist. I will never go back. Best of luck with your dental search. A good dentist is a real find. I would not recommend this practice…read more Before scheduling my appointment, I specifically called the office to confirm that they accepted my MetLife PPO dental insurance. I was told that they did, and I was explicitly assured that if there were any reason my insurance would not cover the services, the office would let me know before I came in. Their website also indicates that they accept MetLife PPO. I also specifically asked about the cost of the services beforehand. During my appointment, the dental hygienist was supposed to inform me about an additional $395 charge but "forgot." I was only informed about this charge when I went to check out. At that point, I was pressured to pay the $395 and was repeatedly assured that my dental insurance would cover 80-100% of the costs. I have now found out that the claim was submitted as out-of-network, despite my having specifically confirmed my insurance status with the office beforehand, and my insurance ultimately covered none of the $395. What is most frustrating is that I made a point of calling ahead specifically to avoid exactly this situation. Had I been told that the provider was out-of-network or that I could potentially be responsible for hundreds of dollars, I would not have proceeded with the treatment. Patients deserve accurate information about both insurance network status and out-of-pocket costs before treatment, not a surprise $395 charge at checkout followed by assurances that insurance will cover it when that turns out not to be the case. I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled and will be telling my friends, family, and anyone I know looking for a dentist not to use this practice. I will be filing a formal complaint with the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker protection as well as the Better Business Bureau over these fraudulent and misleading practices.
