A fantastic atmosphere and great space. The cafe is tastefully decorated with soft calming lighting. A great place for a professional meeting or casual coffee. There are a few tables tucked into the nooks by the window which are my favorite spot to camp out and get some work done. It's my boyfriend and my go-to spot! Coffee is pretty good. Favorite is the chai latte. Decent chai is hard to find, and Periguno's does a knock up job. Their snacks and quiche are also tasty. One draw back (and why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars) is the service can be a tad slow. Mostly when there's only one barista and a full cafe. Understandable, but you'd think they'd have a better idea of their busy times and appropriately schedule staff. There's also wine served here, but I haven't tried anything yet. read more

What a perfect little cafe! Really not a place for your college crowd. The classical music, decorations, and staff are all high class. Free wifi, plenty of seating, and quiet atmosphere make this place perfect to sit down and get some work done. I had a basic panini that I watched go from fresh ingredients, to hot off the grill, to my table. I nearly burnt my mouth trying to eat the piping hot but delicious meal. Ordered a common roll and hot coco..... I can barely taste any coco in my hot coco...... Think your missing a key ingredient there. The cinnamon roll was average. The cost? Way to high! My boyfriend and I have been going to Perugino for a while now. The baristas are the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!! They are always kind, happy and efficient. I particularly am talking about Michelle and Bailey, although I've always had great service there, and always a friendly chat. I will definitely vote for them in the next "Best of" in the weekly. I forgot to mention that the coffees and the pastries are superbly done. We will continue to make this "our place " for a wonderful experience all around. read more

I've been visiting Perugino periodically for the past 5 or 6 years. Though I have left and returned and aged and changed, Peruginos has remained mostly the same; a haven for coffee quaffing poli sci students, a club house for wine tasting philosophy professors, an affordable brunch for those who work near by and a place for me to grab a beer or hit on a beautiful barista. The atmosphere may appear a bit high-brow, but one thing I can say about Perugino is that it attracts all walks of life and all walks of wallet. Peruginos gets 5 stars easy. I would give it zero stars if I could. I stopped in here on a quick trip to Eugene with three colleagues to get a cup of coffee to go. They put our orders up on the bar - in "for here" cups even though we wanted to "to go" - and some of the drinks had post it notes on them with drink descriptions. We weren't sure if the drinks were ours because of the "for here" cup situation AND the fact that the drink descriptions didn't quite match up to what we ordered. SO, we asked a man behind the counter what kind of drinks they were. In the most PRETENTIOUS tone I've ever heard, he READ to us the drink descriptions (word for word!) that were on the post it notes - right in front of us. Like we couldn't read them. It was so fuc*** RUDE!!!!!!! So, none of the drinks he read off sounded like ours, but he assured us they were and they he had actually written the correct names for "mocha" and "latte" (ummm, hey d-bag, you could probably just write mocha since mocha is what my pal ordered, but if you want to snob it up and call it something else and then make me feel like sh** for not knowing you're secret code name for it - then whatever). As for my peppermint-soy-latte, there was no drink labeled as such. There was however an iced drink up on the bar, so I asked what it was. He responded to my questions by asking what I ordered - again in the SNOBBIEST tone I have ever heard - and telling me "well, then that what's this is" he said, as he pointed to the drink. I gave him my best "sorry dude, just checkin" voice and said: "I just wanted to make sure that this is the correct drink since I have a milk allergy" and he gave a HUGE SIGH like it was a major pain to go check with the barista to see if it was soy. OH MY GOD it was probably the WORST service I've ever had. I came very close to leaving my drink and walking out. Horrible and I'm NEVER going back. read more

It has been a few years since I've experienced their horrible customer service and continues to be the worst service I've ever received, which is why I still feel like I need to share. You will be required to purchase something immediately or you will be asked to leave. During the 15 minutes I waited for friends to arrive, I was made fun of behind the counter, given terrible glares, and asked to leave because I wasn't ready to order. I knew this because I had acquaintances in the coffee shop see the manager mock me when I wasn't looking. She didn't know I had mutual friends already in the shop who would tell me about her behavior later. Quickly after I realized they were not worth any of my money or time, I walked to a different coffee shop down the street. Later in the evening I made a phone call to speak to the manager but found out the woman who treated me so poorly was the manager!! The manager yelled at me and hung up on me. It was so unbelievable! Perugino is one of the great institutions of Eugene, food, coffee, wine related, or otherwise. The atmosphere is pitch perfect for informal but not hipster. Perugino is for adults. Come for soup, salad (The Perugino is best), and a breve cappuccino. You will feel like your time here was well spent and you might just become a regular. read more

I found a slug crawling on my salad plate (after I had consumed most of it). I then discretely went to the server and handed her my plate with the crawling slug, only to have her come back to me to say, "these things happen from time to time" They never offered me my money back on anything not even the yucky salad w/ extra living protein. I had to go to them and demand they give me at least the 3 dollars back for the side salad. Needless to say, it was a terrible experience, but worse of all, the horrible unprofessional way that it was dealt with disgusted me just as much as the slug. I won't be eating there ever again, because I don't trust them now, and I don't even think I will bother getting coffee or wine there (although I trust that) just because the service was so bad. Food was merely ok. Nothing great. Ambiance is pleasant, but if you go there, I would stick to wine or coffee, not the fresh salads... they may be fresher than you expect, and apparently according to their server, this happens from time to time. I like the vibe at Perugino. It's artsy, and unique. It's situated in an older building across the street from the municipal parking lot, downtown Eugene. It has good coffee and tasty eats, and comfortable surroundings. I like everything about Perugino EXCEPT they have the worst WIFI in the world. This isn't a one-time observation, and WIFI is almost as important as coffee for today's mobile user (me). I am not sure why this has been allowed to be, but if you're Perguino and you're reading this, upgrade please. Your customers will appreciate it. There have been times when I have had to leave to go to Starbucks or elsewhere nearby solely to have a better connection. It matters. Puhlease upgrade. read more

" Ya see" this is my dilemma I drink coffee plain ol-Joe hell I even owned a cafe once, but 2 dollars for a 16 oz coffee from a warmer pot that's sat for how long? Look next to booze coffee is the best markup around for a business so when ya try to give to me in the shorts without the benefit of foreplay or lubrication don't be snooty when I'm shocked. "I know " the Italian girl isn't at fault, (in fact shes a nice touch) I like my servers hot, but they do give off a sense of rude when they think your shock is poverty. This place is way over priced, granted they definitely have the high end restaurants catering the food but it's ridiculous. The staff don't look you in the eye or seem to want to be there. And if there are less than 4 people in the restaurant why can't the staff walk the 6 steps to my table to give me my coffee. It's all relative and this place is a saving grace for the options in Eugene, read nil. All the coffee shops here close at like 2 in the afternoon which is not helpful when you need a place to study or read. I like this place because its great for settling in to study. They have coffee drinks and wine, bakery treats and salads and sandwiches. So once I get settled in to study at their huge table in the back, I can start with coffee and then have a glass of wine. It's great. Cozy brick interior, AWESOME music selection always, great coffee, decent prices, good cookies, good salads. There are a bajillion reasons to love this place, but there are only three motivating me to give it five stars: The most incredible cocount cake I've ever eaten (and damn fine baklava, too), the Sakura cherry-infused japanese green tea, and freaking Celtic jam night. Have you ever been anywhere that has a music jam circle specifically for Celtic jamming? It's crazy. And basically affordable despite the ultra-high caliber of product they serve. We really enjoyed the aroma of the coffee here !! For an overnight stay, we walked around to get to know the town of Eugene. After an easy walk through, we found this pleasant coffee shop, nearby the huge coffee chain shop. And BOY weren't we happy !!! Instead of "I am the barista of the hip shop" attitude and those burned, bitter cup of coffee, we were welcomed with the warm, charming smiles of the ladies, who made us such beautiful cup of cappuccinos, which are not only such a pleasant presentations but such a joy to our taste buds... the flavor of the coffee was so rich yet smooth, froth had a touch of silk, we really enjoyed it to the last sip. We hurried out of the shop for we had our pick up shuttle showed up earlier than expected, and regretted so much we didn't buy a pack of coffee they had! The store was nicely warm, with a charming display, and comfortable seating arrangements. Would try their sandwich the next time, our next table had one and it really looked good ! After six years in Eugene I'd yet to try Perugino, which is surprising since it's not far from my office. I came here for lunch a few weeks ago and had a delicious insalata caprese. It seemed a bit pricey, but the ambiance was good and the service pleasant. Good people-watching, too. read more

We come for the good coffee, the always friendly staff, and the ambiance, but still something more that is less tangible. Perugino is a community hub, a central meeting place, and a backdrop for some of the most meaningful conversations and interactions I have had here in Eugene. Hassle free wi-fi connection, amazing coffee. Tried the chai and it was also amazing! Super yummy food, too, but too spendy imo. I always meet clients at Perugino...I don't think I've ever been just for me, but I keep saying I will go back for that reason. :) They have wine and such, also. Chocolates abound. Only been here once. I got a mocha and a marionberry muffin. The muffin is the same as you would get at Eugene coffee co. those kinds that are so overloaded they spill over top of their muffin cup... We stumbled upon them playing a year ago when my then fiancé and I were driving through town from CA to Seattle, now we're planning on hopeful annual treks out just to listen to the duo. Love, love, love this place. I personally love the window seats and the ability to view the world walking by with a great latte. The ambiance is inviting and very homey. Coffee has a nice deep taste that soothes the soul. One recommendation I would make is to get real coffee cups for the larger lattes and coffees. Isn't quite the same drinking coffee out of a large glass. There are some really cool ones to be had. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice break from your day. This place has a great atmosphere. It has a very relaxed feel and a classy ambiance. I enjoy coming here with friends or even by myself to get some work done on my laptop. I never feel rushed by the staff, and even after being there for a while, the staff is just as friendly as when I walked in. I always feel welcome at Peruginos. They always go out of their way to accommodate their customers Their Chai Latte's are the best I have ever had! I honestly crave them all the time! Their pastries are all delicious as well.
