This place has a great atmosphere. It has a very relaxed feel and a classy ambiance. I enjoy coming here with friends or even by myself to get some work done on my laptop. I never feel rushed by the staff, and even after being there for a while, the staff is just as friendly as when I walked in. I always feel welcome at Peruginos. They always go out of their way to accommodate their customers Their Chai Latte's are the best I have ever had! I honestly crave them all the time! Their pastries are all delicious as well. Every time I stop in, I order a different dessert, and I have never been disappointed! Seriously, the food here is REALLY good! I would recommend this place to everyone! read more

The staff are friendly, the coffee is delicious, and this place makes Eugene bearable and even charming during the dreary winter months. Starbucks or any other chain coffee shop pales in comparison. My only wish is that they had more power outlets, as I am a grad student and practically live here on weekends. Sometimes there's a wait for an outlet. read more

Given that it's winter break for students and the sunday before new year's, i wouldn't expect any coffee shops to be particularly crowded, so I don't know if my experience today was typical of a visit to Perugino's. That being said, dear god i hope it is! if i had to pick one word to describe my experience, it was just nice. like other reviewers have noted, the architecture and decor are beautiful. i found the barista to be friendly and helpful when i had questions - she wasn't super perky, but given the calm, quiet, and classy ambience of the place i wouldn't expect her to be. my one complaint with perugino is one that has been noted by other reviewers as well - they definitely take their sweet time getting your coffee to you. so if you're in a rush i would definitely go elsewhere! that being said, the latte i ordered was pretty good - i wouldn't say its the best i've ever had, but not terrible. the cinnamon roll on the other hand, was to die for! after 5 awkward minutes waiting at the counter for my drink, i settled in with a book for a couple of very calm hours. there were only about 5 other people in the shop and with classical music playing i was able to tune out and get some work done - which given my tendency to people watch and eavesdrop is pretty good. again i don't know if the crowd there today was typical, but if it is, then this is a really good, off the beaten path if you're trying to get away from students kind of place. didn't check out the wifi/electrical outlet availability, but a great spot to get some reading/editing/grading done for sure. read more

Perugino is my favorite coffee shop in Eugene. I go there once or twice a week to work or to meet a friend. I like the atmosphere, but there are two things that keep me coming back. 1) The espresso. Hands-down the best in town. I used to only order when the manager was behind the espresso machine, but recently I've noticed that the other employees have caught on how to make an excellent shot. 2) The staff. They are always so nice, professional, and natural. This is a rare find. Whenever I move to another town, I bet I won't be able to find a coffee shop I like as much as Perugino. read more

Really great atmosphere, and terrific hip vibe. Fashionable baristas and frankly rich, deserving-of-fame coffee. They could use one or two comfy chairs inside--the patio chairs outside are more comfortable with their arms. One of my favorite coffee houses anywhere. If you want the worst coffee you could possibly ask for, this place is it. I was wandering downtown Eugene and wanted to try one of the several coffee shops around and stepped in here. The spot is actually really nice and wide open and the staff was pretty friendly. However, the coffee was atrocious. I asked for a latte and my friend got a shot of espresso. We both could not believe it. The taste was beyond bitter. It was a sour taste as if the water was bad or the coffee was rotten. I have tasted a lot of coffee from different regions and this was nothing like I've ever had. Perhaps their machine was malcalibrated and not extracting correctly but it was just bad. I tried adding sugar thinking it was just to bitter but that made it taste almost like lemon. I hope they can shape up because that was just awful. Maybe that's why they have wine in the back for some awkward but also cool reason? read more

Overpriced, over hyped. Coffee and is better at the Park Street restaurant behind it. With the exception of the blonde guy in the morning, rest of the wait staff has too much attitude. Potatoe knisch? Forget it. Bland. I ordered a bagel today, to go and they fixed it up very nice on a plate with garnish. When I told her it was to go, she go pissed put the plate down, picked up the bagel and stuffed it in a bag with creamcheese and said nothing while she handed it to me, leaving the plate with the garnish in plain site. Obviously punishing me for not saying it was to go. BUT I DID. Her coworker didn't write it down. Guess the life of a Barista is so frustratingly complicated I'll never understand their suffering. read more

For several years I have been a fan of tango. It is the most romantic of dances. To do the tango properly, the partners must make a connection. I had thought this meant they had to know one another before they began dancing, or they had to have been dance partners for a period of time - in love, preferably - to allow them to be in synch with each others movements. No, this is not the case. I learned this firsthand while in Perugino's coffee bar, on Willamette Street, in Eugene, Oregon, watching tango dancers glide past my table. Your heart would have to be made of stone not to be moved by watching two people connect while dancing the tango. Perugino's is a great hangout for coffee cognoscenti, and de rigeur for those whose romantic streak is as wide as the eiffel tower is tall. I sat many times beneath the self portrait by the master himself, that dominates one brick wall of Perugino's, while under the influence of Perugino's marvelous coffee concoctions, while nibbling Salade Niçoise, and while sipping excellent micro brews and wines. I gazed with lanquid eyes at the tango dancers, who sometimes spilled onto the street on balmy summer and fall evenings, when romance could not be contained within the narrow confines of the building. No show at the Uffizi Gallery could compete with skilled tango dancers, for pure artistry. Il divin pittore. read more

Best cap in town -- no doubt about it. In fact, best cap outside of Italy. They're perfect -- not too wet, not too dry, not too milky, just right. Plus, the food is good and the price is right. There's enough light to work but the place still feels warm and inviting (I like the rugs hanging on the walls). The food and gelato looked great, but I didn't try it. The coffee, though, was flavorless, weak, and bitter. Also, TWO dollars for a small drip coffee is ridiculous. I work downtown and have been going to Peruginos for the past several years. Great place for lunch (LOVE the panini and homemade soup) or for a cappuccino (the BEST in town) or for a glass of nice wine after work or to meet friends for a beverage and a bite. Love this coffee shop! They have true Italian style espresso drinks and their baristas make a great cup. My only criticism is that their only non-dairy option is soy milk. As I'm currently nursing my 3 month old son, who is allergic to both dairy and soy, I can't order anything other than black coffee. Hence, I havent been there in months. I can't wait to be able to order a cappuccino or cafe con panna again! read more

I've always enjoyed this cafe, relaxed atmosphere and great staff. Coffee is good, Pannani is fantastic, and now that they've gotten ride of the obnoxiously loud sorbet cooler, I'm sure I'll be in even more. I adore this place. The baristas are absolute sweethearts that pour amazing coffee. The latte art is amazing. The food is delicious. Never once have I had an issue. It's always yummy. But my favorite thing about Perugino is the atmosphere. It's in one of the last remaining late 19th-century buildings in Eugene. Along with the quirky art and decor, it's warm, cozy, and inviting. I highly recommend this place to everyone I know! Fantastic and a true gem. read more
