The drinks we ordered were lovely: I ordered the honey cinnamon latte and my wife had the regular chai, both drinks were iced. We had our dog and two of the employees came out to greet us all and gave our dog a treat. The ambiance is relaxed yet bright and colorful. They have a fun trivia question for a bonus card punch and postcards that you can send to anywhere with fun branding and colors. The downtown Eugene business area is modernized industrial buildings. Restaurants, cafes, and shops are everywhere but this looked like a fun choice for an after pick-me-up. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but it seemed mostly like a to-go spot. We each got various hot coffee drinks on a cold day. The staff was welcoming, mostly younger people. Our favorite coffee spot when visiting downtown Eugene! Nestled in with a bunch of other interesting shops with lovely lighting, which is especially delightful at the holidays. The staff is so friendly, drinks are hot and delicious, and plenty of good swag. I had the veggie breakfast bowl on another visit and it was restaurant quality, I was so impressed. It's been a long minute since I have been to Fifth Street Public Market and so this was a new one for me. It is a well lit open plan space that also manages to be comfy. I was hoping for a spinach and feta hand pie, but sadly they were all gone. Instead I got the avocado toast which was as tasty as it was pretty. My companion got the granola and yogurt with jam and loved it! My coffee was also pretty and tasty. We also took advantage of their little "post office" where you could send one of their postcards (which were lovely) to someone (they pick up the postage). We put it in the little mailbox, but I haven't heard yet that it arrived at it's destination. First, the positive. The staff were friendly and efficient. The coffee drink and savory scone were very good. However, the turkey sandwich with bacon (at an additional cost) was awful. The detest sandwich I have ever had even though it was supposed to have mustard aioli (at best, there was a whisper of that). In addition, the bacon was cooked within an inch of its life. A nice walk through the market and stopped in for a great cup of coffee. The flavor recommendations were perfect and the service was great.

Service was horrible. Got my coffee order wrong multiple times, the music being played not only does not belong in a coffee shop environment but was also far too loud to enjoy the ambiance. On top of that, the barista made insulting remarks in a joking manner as I walked away. If you have any self respect for yourself, you will stay far away from this establishment. read more

I came in here with my husband yesterday because he needed a snack while we were out. So this was his choice. He ordered a s'mores pie, I ordered biscuits and gravy and my one fall pumpkin spice latte for the year. Food was okay, and I think that's generous. Pie was good. Coffee tasted burnt. Maybe I've been spoiled by Black Rifle brand coffee, and that's what made this gross? Not sure, but it had a distinctly burnt flavor. Biscuits and gravy were underwhelming. Biscuit was good. Buttery, light, and fluffy. Gravy wasn't gravy. It was spackle with sausage added to it and tasted about as good as it looked. Neither my husband or I could stomach more than a couple of bites. Customer service was hit and miss. The guy taking our order was bland and boring. But the one who served our food clearly enjoyed his job more and was actually really nice. We elected to eat outside, as it was busy inside and I wanted a space that was a bit quieter. But it seemed decently clean and organized inside. Would I return? Probably not. There was nothing egregiously wrong with this place, but nothing special about it either. I'll be honest and say that if I hadn't gotten a receipt to know the name and written this review, I'd have already forgotten this place existed. I really wanted to like this place but it unfortunately fell a little short for me. They have nice outdoor seating areas, I appreciated the patio umbrellas. I got a lavender lilac blueberry lemonade and it was very pretty and tasted nice. I also ordered the spicy avocado toast and added a poached egg on top. It was unfortunately underwhelming to me, the bread was thin and not super flavorful, plus the thinness made it get a little soggy under the moisture of the avocado spread, harissa, and egg yolk. The egg was perfectly poached. The whole dish was a little bland, I think a little bit more salt and lemon juice would have livened it up. It was also a bit cold. I took a roadtrip across Oregon and I would say this a must stop Coffeeshop in Oregon! Located in the quaint college town of Eugene and part of the 5th market which has lots of shops and eateries. Parking on the meters are free on weekend. I tried the snickerdoodle latte, which wasn't my first or second choice but they ran out of the food I originally wanted. It was surprisingly pleasant and good. Why this place is a must stop is because they let you mail out post cards for free! Yup, you do not even have to buy the post card or pay the postage. I really liked the overall ambiance of this shop. The employees were really kind and the food was good. I wasn't a big fan of the amount of pork in the gravy but that's definitely a personal preference. The rest of the biscuits and gravy were good, as well as the pumpkin pie. Ooohhh, this place is cute. Fits very well within the new 5th Street Public Market Alley. This coffee shop has a very interesting industrial/ 50s dinner vibe, which I am living for. They are a bit on the pricey side, but I promise you that their product is worth it. I ordered their egg biscuit that, at appearance, looks super simple but it's anything but. It's a square, first of all. Never have I seen a square breakfast biscuit sandwich before. A very savory eggs-leek frittata sandwich between a buttery and perfectly salted house made biscuit. I also got their espresso cream soda. Now, this isn't for everyone. My husband made a very adorable sour expression after stealing a sip. It's sweet yet rich with espresso all at the same time. Wow, I have craved the coffee since I had it. The cookies are the size of a small nation and could feed a family of 4! The inside is Instagram worthy with wonderful magpies painted on the walls. This place offers beverages (coffee, soda, and alcohol), snacks (pastries and prepackaged one), toasts, salads, soups, and pies. I was able to try the Magpie Salad with an Espresso Cream Soda. The salad is definitely a must try. If you're a fan of goat cheese and pesto, this is the salad for you. I did add chicken, which I think went well with it all. Located in the new section of Fifth Street Marketplace, (right in front of The Gordon Hotel) Magpie is a new coffeehouse that has a clean, modern vibe with hard surfaces, cement floors and lots of light. This is not a quaint cozy coffeehouse with wood counters and tables, like the name might conjure up, but it is surprisingly welcoming because of the friendly servers, vibrant sounds of coffee brewing and milk steamers going. I had one of the chicken tarragon hand pies, which was very tasty and flaky. I was still hungry, 'tho. My friend had the egg sandwich, which came out as a yellow egg square surrounded mostly by bread. She said it was, "ok." Frankly, by appearance it looked a little strange and bare on the white plate it was served on. A few slices of fruit or garnish would have made it look more appetizing. My other friend ordered the wisest choice, (breakfast bowl), which looked the heartiest and most delicious of the three. Hers also came with a biscuit. She loved it. We met for breakfast and were all pretty hungry. I was disappointed that there weren't more choices: i.e. egg dishes with protein, potatoes, etc... The coffees were delicious. My favorite thing was the chocolate peanut butter mini pie that we all had a tiny piece of. It was super yummy, and I'd go back just for that...or to try another one of their pies. Well this place takes that to a whole other level--like the less we cook something the less cooking destroys the nutrients (I guess is what they're going for?). Guess that's why everything is extra doughy, extra soaked in the natural store air (read: stale). Extra burnt........ oh wait.... that doesn't fit with the cook less, less carcinogen thing..... Or maybe they just should fire their chefs. 1. Classic Avocado Toast with Seeded Multigrain Bread $7.50 (one slice): The only thing "classic" here is if it is reminiscent of your alcoholic parents waking up from a crazy binge and suddenly realizing they need some toast to offset the hangover... and half drunkingly, half painfully, half inserted their toast into the toaster, cranked to high, knob broken off in the process. Oh.... and they accidentally dropped the bread into the sink on the way, and it sat there for about 30 seconds soaking in detergent water and refuse. Yeah, so, a half burned toast that tasted like a half cooked dough ball. Smeared with avocado on top (which was fine.). For a little less than 8 bucks. 1/10 2. Orange Poppy Muffin $4: For muffins I always suggest the Costco rule: like, if your muffins don't taste better than Costco's 12 pack that we all love, don't fight it, join them! Just sell Costco's like most mom and pop coffee shops, right??? But certainly, don't serve STALE as F muffins, all doughy and yucky like yours. Hell I couldn't even separate it from your paper. It was that old. It was so bad my kid wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't eat it, my gf wouldn't eat it.... So the trash bin ate it. 1/10 3. Chicken Hand Pie $7.50: To be honest it's getting hard to type this on my phone. Thumbs getting tired. I'll just make this one short: it's 50% vegetables (frozen?), 49% mystery gooo, and 2 pieces of 1" cube chicken. The crust was okay tasting but ugly--a blackened middle top looked as if it had an accident about 7 days ago and has since dried up. Some edges were burned too. 1/10 4. Blue Magpie Latte $5: Gotta give them credit where credits is due. No, it's not to my taste, but I do think it's a great idea for a latte-alternative and relatively well executed. So this is some kind of no-coffee latte, naturally blue color. I think I'd say it's closer to a Chai tea but without the spiciness. But mixed with milk it does sorta feel like a latte. Unfortunately, or fortunately, there's too much milk. Normally this would be a deduction for a real espresso latte but I think if there was less here the herbs would be too strong.
