After months of outdoor dining I took a step inside today to visit my favorite Downtown Eugene breakfast place. I am happy to report this very spacious Eugene landmark is thriving and still offering the best and healthiest breakfasts in town. The oatmeal is the tastiest I've ever had. The bagels and breakfast specials are super. And the coffee is remarkable. Shared with Whirled Pies the very large space offers plenty of healthy room between tables. Hitting the road early and looking for a bite and a pint, of coffee of course. This shop has such a cool atmosphere inside. Well spread out with fun jazz in the background and awesome decor from murals on the wall to neat lights hanging from the ceiling. Decided to go with the classic breakfast sandwich which features ham, egg, cheese, and pesto on a croissant. The croissant was perfect; buttery and flakey. The pesto was a delightful addition that I wouldn't normally pair with my breakfast fare. Cold brew coffee was good. I've had better, but I chalk that up to the selection of roast. It is brewed fresh there which you don't always get. The spicy chai was very solid. Had a good amount of spice to it but was not overbearing. Definitely would come back and recommend to anyone. read more

Theo is verbally abusive to his customers and I have witnessed him throwing dishes into the sink when upset by a customer whom accidentally put a used spoon in the clean spoons. I just love this place. So. Yeah it's a little dirty. Yeah maybe the couches have lice. But so many good progressive things happen in that building and I love sitting around people watching. Every 2 weeks when I go downtown i pop into theos for breakfast. It's a relaxing place to get coffee or a much prettier yummier cup of wake up. I either get a coffee or a raspberry vanilla creamose/my favorite breakfast croissant sandwich (minus the pesto for me) or a lightly toasted cheese and jalapeños bagel w/cream cheese and when my fiance joins me he gets the cinnamon and sugar French toast which is also so equally delicious. But if I truly get a sweet tooth and just want something small I will choose from one of the choices of baked goods that they get from local bakers. Coffee cake is one of my favorites I've tried. Today I went for a slice of a type of apple bread pie and some hot chocolate. I think if I asked for cool whip cream on top would have made it just perfect. This place is the perfect place to grab a nibble a bit, some coffee, or latte etc Italian soda, creamosa or whatever you set your mind on. You can kick back and enjoy your food /while reading eugene weekly or you are on your phone or labtop watching youtube videos or finishing some paper work. Or you are spacing off at the beautiful mural. This has been a sanctuary and a resting relaxing stop as well as a meeting place where our friends could meet and commun. I came here for a couple hours during the pandemic looking for a nice place to get some virtual work outside of my dining room table, and loved Theo's! It was really nicely spaced out, I felt really safe and taken care of, especially during the Pandemic. I got coffee and breakfast sandwhich, delish. I also really loved the murals around the interior and the music selection, it was low-key indie/folk/bluegrass type music and was a great backdrop to get some work done too. I'll definitely be back to hang out with a good book soon read more

Coffee House/ Club: Downtown Eugene Oregon It was a Mother's Day 5/14/17 and while in search for a breakfast spot in Eugene- we found lines out the door most everywhere. While wandering just outside of downtown, we came up on Theos, which was virtually empty! Hooray!! The interior is a converted warehouse- as are many cool funky cafes, restaurants & pubs in this adorable charming town. I ordered a Caprice- with delicious pesto, cheesy bread and an Americano. My better half got oatmeal he claimed was soft & wonderful. My only (small) gripe - was with the coffee- only soy milk was on the counter to add in my coffee, which I realized too late- thus killed the taste. Since canister was unlabeled- this cow loving gal didn't' really love her drink much anymore.... The atmosphere here is amazing, look up and admire the stunning converted washing machine drums, note in photos and dryer drums! I really am falling hard for the recycle/upcycling all over Eugene. This cute - clean little town impressed so much. Was I a resident, this would likely be my most fav. hangout read more

I have been a patron of Theo's Coffee House for six years. The staff is very friendly and they get to know their customers. Doug and Brian are two of the nicest guys you're going to meet in Eugene, and they make a mean chocolate hazelnut espresso shake too! (By the way, if you go to Theo's for the first time, you are morally OBLIGATED to try an espresso shake! Best beverage in the city for under 4 bucks!) Theo's doesn't only offer the standard coffee shoppe favorites, although they DO thoroughly cover all those bases. They also serve the best bowl of oatmeal in the city, as a recent Best of Eugene article in the Eugene Weekly described in detail. There are two versions of the oatmeal: basic and deluxe. Get the deluxe. For like a buck-fifty extra you get fresh fruit (whatever is in season), and real cream on top. Either way it's amazing. They offer other delicacies for breakfast as well, and they have a limited but hellatasty lunch menu as well. The atmosphere of this place is quite cool too. They went to a great deal of trouble to convert this old warehouse into a comfortable place to hang out. Murals decorate the walls, banners hang from the high-ceiling rafters, and comfy couches are strategically placed to be intimate without feeling too cramped. The concrete floors are an interesting contrast to the lavish decorations that adorn the walls and dangle from the lofty ceiling. The patrons of this establishment run the full spectrum of people in this town. From teenage runaway mallrat to elderly retiree, from college student to white collar worker, from habitual knitter to aspiring musician, it's truly amazing the variety of people that appear daily at this cafe. An odd roast or an odd treatment of coffee. My iced latte was strange tasting, watery and bitter. Cavernous area for tables, but it was sort of dank and cold. The man working there was pleasantly indifferent. I interrupted his reading with my order. He responded with a latte that tasted like the book he was reading. I do not think most of his clientele drinks iced coffee, because he would not keep them with what he served me. read more

This review is based on the fact the place is hardly open when I need a cup of coffee. Hours are sporadic and out of step with the rest of the building. I've stopped in three times during the day to catch a shot of coffee and no luck. The hours listed on the door are apparently estimates of when it will be open. I've been left standing around when the place is supposed to be open. I'm not giving up but when the rest of the building is open serving pizza, tunes and other things you would think the coffee would be flowing. The wife and have been coming to Theos for 5 years now. The weekend routine would not be the same. I really like the mix of people from the very young to the well traveled road worriers. The staff are friendly and remember our order to the point they almost have it ready when we walk in. If your a family unit you should come on down, have oatmeal and coffee or tea and then head to the farmers market on Saturday and Tuesday's. Hope to make new friends soon so come on down! read more

This coffee shop is huge! And the decor is wonderful--murals and all. They have a variety of treats, including smoothies and pastries and bagels, so it's great for breakfast and brunch. I visited last summer, June 2008. I love the spacious yet comfy atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly, the tasty coffee & delicious pastries. The wifi & internet cafe' are handy. The bookstore in the basement was a neat place to browse & buy extremely affordable used books. It's located in a large warehouse style setting that has computers to rent by the hour (Indras Internet Cafe) and an all organic pizzeria (Cosmic Pizza) located in the same room. As well as comfy couches and a stage. There are shows nearly every night ranging from music, poetry, plays to political events, and my favorite every 2nd Thursday the "Science Pub". Coffee and drinks at Theos, and Pizza and beer at Cozmic, perfect combo. The computers at Indras are loaded with software, basically anything you'd ever need from adobe cs3 package to a wide range of video games (a lot of WOW players in daily). I've had pretty good coffee from this place but there isn't much parking so on busy days you have to park a few blocks away so it's not convenient for coffee on your way to work. For a lazy Sunday morning though it's good. The food was good but not great. The most annoying thing was when I asked for jam for my toast they told me it cost extra. Extra for jam! Really? If you are going to offer gourmet jam for an upgrade you should also carry regular old free jam as well. read more

You will get it faster if you opt for the vegetarian version. I get the rice bowl more than anything else. I love it. It has black beans, tasty salsa and avocado.
