I've been in the shopping center and didn't even know this was here. Called and made a reservation which was available. I loved the decor and it's so cute inside. Everyone was super friendly. I was excited once I looked them up to see they offer specialty coffee as I'm a big coffee fan, but when we arrived, the menu was different. Not a problem-I get things change and rotate. The options they had weren't really for me, but they let me tweak some thing, it wasn't bad. Maybe they'll have different flavors I like more next time. The food was really good though. We went in on a Sunday late morning so there was about a 15 minute wait. The service was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was hip and cute but a little tight. I'm a very picky coffee person and the gingerbread latte was ok. However- the food was DELICIOUS! I got the breakfast bowl no meat and in hindsight would have asked them to sub with more eggs bc the ratio of eggs to potatoes was off but still sooo good. I love a brunch spot that can hit the mark and then some, pulling off a relaxed vibe from the moment you walk in the door. We were more early birds to the brunch scene (around 9:15am) and had the pick of where to sit. Our server was so sweet and we actually ended up meeting the owner who to our surprise we met when he used to serve at Metropolitan Cafe in Freehold. The wait wasn't long for our food and boy they didn't disappoint. My only critique is to have more poptart flavor options. Besides that, the Nutella poptart was flakey and deliciously made from scratch. You don't find many places that serve shashuka and theirs was hot, which was different than we've had in the past. Still cleaned off the plate. Bacon was crispy and southern style Bennie gave me happy feet (YUMMY). And the stuffed avocado was divine. Highly recommend sweet buns for friends and family alike. Pleasant experience and so many great brunch options at this cute cafe. I love eggs Benedict and was so excited to see such a cool new take on it with the Southern style Bennie with fried chicken on a biscuit! It was delicious! My husband ordered the steak and eggs and he said it was perfect, a ribeye, small salad with vinegrette and the crisp potatoes which were so tasty. Crispy on the outside, mash potato like on the inside! We tried their specialty lattes, he had the tres leches which was delicious and I had the banana bread one which was ok but the banana bread on top made up for it. We ordered pop tarts and buns to go and they were the perfect treat at home. They were reasonably priced which makes eating out to brunch more frequently possible! Will definitely back! read more

We went there today for breakfast and I cannot say enough about this place! The restaurant is beautiful, they had the nicest staff and the food is absolutely amazing. We got the banana bread and pop tarts to start and a mixture of breakfast and lunch foods. Everything was better than the thing before. I can't recommend this place enough! After reading the reviews, Hubs and I decided to come here for brunch. Hubs got the Shakshuka, which is Mediterranean baked eggs, tomato sauce, peppers, onions, feta and grilled bread. Hubs liked it a lot and is starting to like feta cheese now. He had a lot of sauce left, so he ordered extra bread to sop up the rest. It was an extra $3. I got the Banana Bread French Toast, which also has vanilla custard and banana. This was pretty good. I've never had banana bread French toast before. It was our first time having a fruit French bread. Hubs said it was a little sweet but addictive. Hubs said that coffee was great, too. Service was quick and friendly. This review consists of two visits. The first visit, I entered and chose the front tables. They were noticeably recently used, with water-filled glasses still strewn about, but not to a point that it disrupted my eating experience. I ordered the Croque Madame, which I've always been curious about since reading about it. What immediately struck me was that, despite being sandwiched between two french toasts, it wasn't too sweet, as the meat and cheese between it balanced it out. The sunny side up egg on top was also a nice touch. Definitely an overall savory breakfast item. The wait time was around 10-15 minutes, give or take. Reasonable for the dish. Afterward, I decided to order a homemade poptart. I did not get the impression that the poptart was fresh, but rather premade and then reheated on demand. It was still good. My second visit, I wanted to try something else I spotted right next to the Croque Madame: the Shakshuka. I'm generally a huge fan of the tomato sauce and egg combo and thought that if the quality of the Croque Madame was anything to go by, this next one would be equally good if not better. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. I decided to take a seat deeper in the cafe, which I don't suggest if you're claustrophobic, as it's relatively packed compared to similar places. The Shakshuka took about 15-20 minutes to make. Once it was served, I was given two multigrain toasts to dip. The Shakshuka tasted like I imagined, with the feta adding sourness. I did not have dessert after this one. The price range for both visits was around $25-30, tips included. My only nitpick is that the cafe could use a bit more staff for cleaning. Since it's a brunch place that closes at 3 pm, it gets packed and messy quickly. You could circumvent that by ordering pickup or delivery, but I think the quality of the meal is diminished if not partaken in the restaurant. read more

We just ordered take out for the first time from Sweet Buns. We got the corned beef hash, green eggs and ham, Nutella pop tart, kids French toast, and kids pancake. The portions are plentiful and they even threw in some complimentary desserts for us to try. The eggs in the green and eggs and ham are very flavorful. The ham and the corned beef were both well made and the hollandaise didn't separate in transit which is impressive. Planned a breakfast outing to some place new and Sweet Buns was the place! Newly opened, small, friendly staff who was very attentive. The front is cafe like with a small dining room in the back. We started with two cinnamon buns. We could have eaten 12. Soft, warm, not overly sweet and delicious! (We took 2 to go to enjoy at home!) We had two kids meals of pancakes and French toast, the boys enjoyed the butter/cinnamon deliciousness. I ordered the breakfast bowl which had two different types of fried, crispy potatoes, bacon, tomatoes, perfect avocado, cheese and the eggs of your choice. The hubs got a Benedict with fried chicken, hot honey, on fresh biscuits and a creamy sauce. It was also served with the amazing crispy potatoes. Add this to your breakfast bucket list! This adorable place has us coming back every weekend! The food is still fresh and delicious, they have a nice variety of coffee drinks (highly recommend the s'mores which comes with a torched marshmallow and the banana brown sugar latte which comes with a little sliver of banana bread- such a nice touch!) and the crumb cake, cinnamon rolls and pop tarts are heavenly. My husband loves the shakshuka and the corned beef hash and I continue to get the breakfast bowl over and over which include the most perfect breakfast potatoes. The corned beef hash was fantastic and an interesting take on this classic with large strips of delicious corned beef delicately draped over crispy hash brown patties and finished with Eggs over easy and a delectable mustard hollandaise sauce. Creative menu, which gives you an impression that the quality was going to be better than your average breakfast/brunch place. It was not. Started off with a S'mores Latte. It had barely any flavor at all. We sent it back and they added a tiny bit more flavor, but still not enough. Then the BLT, which was supposed to be toasted, was not. Sent it back and this time it was toasted. The chocolate chip pancakes were good, the chocolate chips had a rich chocolate taste. I didn't think the sausage links were very good. For dessert we had the store-made POP tarts. We didn't like the S'more - kinda try, too much pastry. The Nutella Pop Tart was better.
