I've been taking my small dog to the San Marcos location for awhile now. It's on the way to work. He always comes home looking great and exhausted from playing at the doggie day spa. They don't place your dog in a small crate, they use kennel style dog runs for them to hang out with all the other dogs. Mine takes advantage of the doggie social hour. We have been taking our dog to Pet Cuts since he was a puppy on our vet's recommendation. He is five now and as a giant breed is considered a senior dog. We have always had a great experience with Pet Cuts, and their North County Dog Boarding Ranch. We just love John and we board Finn at "The Ranch" any time we're out of town or out of the house even for the day. Prices and care are great. He has so much fun playing with the other dogs that he gets all dusty, so we get him groomed at the end of all his stays. He's a Great Pyrenees so he needs a lot of hair-care! They are absolutely the best. Nothing at all could make my dogs love the grooming process, but Lisa is so fast and they don't put the dogs in little crates. They are extremely diligent about trying to get the undercoat of my female Akita off so it doesn't all land on my carpet. My girl did not like to be dropped off at PetCo for grooming. Lisa has my dogs bathed and brushed with their nails clipped in a third of the time that PetCo used to, which is much appreciated since my house is not the same without my dogs here. After reading some other reviews on yelp and finding out the price for de-shedding, I decided to take my shiba inu in for a desperate grooming. I got a same day appointment and they did a great job. When I took my dog in, she was shedding handfuls of hair everywhere. Now I can actually pet her again without immediately being covered in hair. We have been using Pet Cuts for about a year. Our dog is a Mini Schnauzer and we like her face to be more of a puppy cut with a short skirt and shorter overall Schnauzer cut. Desire' has done an excellent job in taking our requests and giving our dog the look we want. Schnauzer cuts are rather complicated anyway and not everyone can do this cut well, so we are really happy we found this groomer The price is reasonable in comparison to other places we have tried in the past. We like the fact that the dogs are not locked in a cage out of sight. All the dogs are in plain sight in small group pens so they can socialize together. Much better idea. read more

My Dad owns a teripoo who is almost 16 years old. She's almost blind and deaf and has warts so it's really hard to find a good pet groomer that doesn't upset her. I've been taking care of her and my Dad for the past 4 months due to some cardiac problems that he's been having, we went to Petcuts and they were SO accommodating! They asked me if she preferred to be left alone or with other dogs her size, when I asked them to leave her alone they did what I asked, Taffy was SO happy after her cut and she looked adorable. I'm sure that any feedback that they received that was negative was due to a bad day or a fluke, this place is great! Taffy's nickname is persnickety poo and she would NOT have liked them if they were not nice to her. LOL read more

Took my fur baby Luna for her first groomers appointment, everything was awesome apart from the fact that they trimmed her nails after I had asked for them to not be cut. I understand it's for safety of employees just wish they would have informed me because I specifically mentioned it twice to employees upon check in and nothing was said. Other than that Luna got the bath and hair cut she really needed and feels soft and refreshed cause all she does now is sunbathe by the window and sleep hehehehe. I have a little Yorkie and he can be a little feisty when it comes to grooming, but the times I have taken him to Pet Cuts, they do such a great job and he always walks out of there looking great! I work around the corner, so I can't complain because I can always walk and take him, so their location is convenient for me. I met Lisa when she first started as a young woman at Lake San Marcos. When I took my 3 fur kids there they always looked great. I moved and took them to other places but the past 2 years have been unhappy no matter where I took them. They always looked chopped and NEVER smelled clean. I called Lisa and I could get my 3 fur kids in the next day. They were there not even 3 hours. Other places I had to have them there at 8:00 AM and I wasn't able to pick them up till 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM. Too long of a day cooped up in a cage. Been going there and referring people for a long time and had worst experience with owner who refused to honor a referral credit. Not only did she not want to honor, but she gave us an attitude for even asking. WOW Suggested that for the amount of people we referred and amount of money we have spent, that she 'should' honor, but instead received a full on attitude. We make at least a dozen weekend trips and have been trying to find an overnight boarding center in North County for quite some time. After about a year we found Pet Cuts and John the owner. We love our dogs like our kids (maybe more!) so are always wary about new boarders. Our dogs are super happy and tired when we pick them up and LOVE to come back. I stopped by this place to check it out and was surprised to see the same woman who had groomed my dog at Petco. She did a great job last time, so I made an appointment for her to be groomed again at pet cuts. Note;last time we asked her to pull our dogs ear hair which is a common practice with poodles, and she got an ear infection after in both ears, we asked Petcos associated vet to look at her and pay for the expense which they graciously did. I also spoke to the manager and explained it was not the groomers fault and she did what I asked. Anyways I think she maybe got trouble over that incident or held a grudge against us because when I got my dog back she looked awful. She cut off the cute leg poofs that I asked her to keep, and she cut her top knot flat! Everyone we see says "what happened to your dog!" I'm sure that this was not a case of the groomer just not knowing how to cut poodles because she looked great last time. I called to ask why she looked so bad and and they said she was matted. I know she did have some mats which I regularly brush through and we discussed her problem areas. Even if she did have mats in her leg poofs I think they should have given me a call before hacking them off. Also, why would mats on her top knot cause her to give her a flat head??? read more

My partner and I haven't had the best of luck when it comes to getting our dog groomed.We came across Pet Cuts and saw all the great reviews.It's quite a drive from San Diego,about 35 minutes on a good day with no traffic.We called Friday and spoke with the owner Lisa.We explained we had a elderly Scottish Terrier and wanted to be sure she would be well cared for because of her age.Lisa explained to us the cage free boarding they do and assured us our dog would be just fine.Our appointment was set for the next day!We dropped our dog off in the morning and met Lisa.She introduced herself and asked us what we would like done.We explained what we would like and she made sure to go over what we asked for.When we got the call to pick up our dog she didn't even notice we had arrived.She was so relaxed in her setting.When she did end up coming over to us she looked beautiful.The cut was perfect and everything we had asked for.Overall this was the best grooming experience and we will definitely be back.Thank you Pet Cuts! read more

Love this place! I've been going to PetCo for my pups nail trimmings and baths, But when I almost took him there to get groomed (this was my first time grooming the pup) something just didn't feel right and my dog was shaking uncontrollably, like he was petrified. Anyways, they quoted me 55$, and not to be mean, the lady just didn't seem put together at all and almost seemed annoyed to be working. SO, I walked out and made a phone call to pet groomers in the area and came across Lisa's place. She answered the phone right away, was super nice and helpful, and quoted me 46$ and said I could come in right away! Which was awesome :) Took my dog in (he's a long haired dachshund) and he fit right in with all the other dogs and was in a open area waiting for me. Not in a teeny tiny cage in the back (how PetCo 'stores' your dog) My pup looked super cute and fierce after his haircut and was done in 2 hours. PetCo takes like 4 hours.
