My favorite pet store in Portland. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I am the kind of customer who asks a lot of questions and they always give me a genuine answer without trying to sucker me into buying anything. They always offer to bring heavy packages out to my car -- an offer I usually take them up on. They also have great brands that aren't available at grocery stores. I continue to go here even though I moved out of the neighborhood because it's the best experience I've had shopping for my pet. read more

People here are very friendly and have lots of good advice. The place is very clean and doesn't have an odor like some other stores do. I drive 30 miles to shop here because they are so nice. They will give you samples of some pet food so you don't end up with a 10 pound bag of cat food you can't use because your cat won't eat it. read more

Pet Loft is a great pet store, and I have been to countless stores over the years. Great personalized service and the best dog food prices in town. I feed my German Shepherd "Solid Gold", and Pet Loft is $10 cheaper per bag than the local grocery store I used to buy it at. They have a great selection of toys and accessories, and I have checked out just about every pet store in town. Pet Loft is the best, hands down. Obviously, if I am taking the time to leave a review about a pet food store, it has made an impression on me. Thanks Pet Loft ETA: They also give you a free bag of food for every 10 (maybe 12?) bags purchased, so I basically get a free $50+ bag of food once a year. Love these guys. read more

I love this store! The selection is great, and the customer service is fantastic. The cat I adopted turned out to be a picky eater and the staff were very helpful in providing samples that were within my budget until I found something my cat liked. Another time my cat sprayed in a specific area of my home. The staff provided input about solutions ranging from trying one item at a time to throwing the whole kitchen sink at the problem to solve it quickly. Really excellent! read more

The staff at Pet Loft is so friendly and so helpful. Every time we go in the pet shop its very clean and they have a variety of healthy food brands for your pet. A staff member helped us decide on a new brand of food for Moose, our lab, and he's been on it for 7 months now. So far his coat is healthier, he looks and you can tell there's a big difference on what food you put your pet on. The staff member (I forgot his name) told us everything about where the food was made and it turns out it's a local turkey farm that humanely kills their turkeys. The guy also told us about the importance of joint health for taller dogs, so we bought glucosamine and chondroitin. The entire experience was awesome and that is where we continue to go for Moose's food! read more

These people and their knowledge of pets and pet products are incredible. I know it is hard to believe that a person could be in love with their cat's new litter box but it's true. I wouldn't have bought it but after talking to these folks, I thought it worth a try. Where has this box been all my cat owner years? It's amazing; no tracking, easy to clean and my cat loves it. Although they are generally a few dollars more we choose to support them. They are convenient and nice to have in the neighborhood. We bought our dog a new winter jacket for Xmas. By February the Velcro was coming off. By then we had already thrown away receipts and trimmed off tags. They were very helpful in letting us exchange and they dealt with the company to get reimbursed. Not something any pet store should have done!!!!! I work next door to this place. They do not over price their items which is rare for a local pet store. They are super patient with me going in and rambling about my dog and his separation anxiety. They always have helpful suggestions and they actually know pets very well. I go in at least once a week. My dog is very spoiled. Don't judge me. I go in and say "me again" and I'm sure the employees inwardly roll their eyes but they are super nice and understand my worries over my poor psycho puppy. read more

I began frequenting this store when I first moved to Portland, because it was close to my house- -and in the three years I've been shopping there, I can't seem to sing their praises enough. The staff is all incredibly knowledgable, and they are all geniune "animal people" so, it's a pleasure talking with them about various pet matters. There have been many times where I ask them for help on an issue (as I have two bratty dogs who both have allergies) and they have furnished me with honest answers and suggestions that didn't feel "salesy." When my dogs first showed signs of allergies, I spoke with the owner at length and he revealed himself as a bit of an animal nutrition guru- -but thanks to his suggestions, my dogs are doing much better. The staff and owners of this establishment are the kind of people who will ask you about your pets and who will get out from behind the counter to pet your dog, etc. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially in the name of supporting good people and a local business. read more

Love, Love, Love this place. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They sell my Furball's preferred brand of food - and the prices are great, at least on par with the national chains. They also sell lots of natural brands, which is nice. They always have an area where they do cat adoptions, and are usually doing some sort of animal charity fundraiser. And did I mention that the staff is awesome? They obvious love animals, and they also know their stuff. I was about to take my cats on a 1400 mile roadtrip when I moved from Oregon to Arizona. After talking to the staff about it for a few minutes, they made some great suggestions of ways I could make the trip less stressful for my kitties ( and me!). The best suggestion was to by them wet food to feed them during the trip since they usually won't drink water in the car. This was a lifesaver, I'm so glad that they suggested this. I really wish there was a store like this in my new town! read more

This is the BEST SPOT for fido, kitty and other pet items and discussions. They're a fantastic staff, lots of product knowledge as well as suggestions for those other things you and your pet need to know - dealing with new additions to the home, allergies, where to play in town, upcoming events & fundraisers for animal organizations. They're great community partners, adoption location for Cat Adoption Team, posters for available pups from Family Dogs New Life Shelter, resource material for whatever you're dealing with or need (Feral Cats, Pet Sitters, etc). I have driven by this place many times, but just went in for the first time today. I was so impressed by their selection of dog toys! WOW! I was there to buy a new dog bed, and ended up purchasing a USA made micro fleece bed made by West Paw. The sales people were pretty nice and helpful. I asked some questions about the dog booties (they have many different kinds) and the girl who was working was very informative and spent 10 minutes showing me all the types and explaining how they differed. Prices do not seem overly expensive considering the location, and the store itself was nice and clean and seemed well run. Was told I could bring an item back with the receipt, which i appreciate when shopping at a local business (many have exchange only policies.) It's unfortunate that I work nearby, because now that I know how great this place is, I will undoubtably spend waaaaaaay too much money here! read more
