Reasonable price Our dog is a rescue and Pet Medical Center was their vet so when I had to bring him in and the initial visit for shots etc. was there I traveled from Margate to Boca and I am glad I did. We have had our dog (who was about 4 or so when we rescued him) for 5 years now and I still go to Pet Medical Center. The staff is the best, extremely accommodating and Dr. Hughes, well can't say enough about him, he's the best. It is always well worth the car ride and I wouldn't think of taking him any place else. This center has some excellent doctors but the commitment to the dogs when there is an emergency is poor. They have a schedule where surgeries are done in the morning but if you want to see your doctor because your pet has an emergency forget it. The doctors are unhelpful and discourteous, even if your dog is a long time patient. My dog had two bloody eyes and was in pain. They put me in a waiting room for 45 minutes and even though her doctor was present he wouldn't see her even for five minutes because they say he had a surgery soon. He did have the time though to pay a fast visit to help her but he wouldn't. Instead he had his front nurse call me to tell me they would not service me anymore because I said a bad word to a tech out of frustration. I bought the tech flowers. The doctor never called me or responded. There are other vets in the area close by. I drove to one who saw my do within fifteen minutes without an appointment. They were pleasant, kind and treated her right away. Comparing the two offices I would said her doctor slapped me and my dog in the face while this new one embraced us and helped. So, think twice and don't be fooled by the initial charm you receive from the doctors. read more

I visited recently for the first time with my fur baby, Max. Brought him in for an overall physical and bloodwork. I was more than pleased when I met Dr. Tim Hughes and his team. They were very kind/personable, knowledgeable and answered ALL my questions. And, comforting towards me! (Max, a cat, wasn't taking well to the needle for the blood work. Shocking! lol! Dr. Hughes had to give him a shot to relax him. When Max was in his VERY mellow state, I got a little emotional. I am dork when it comes to my boy!) Because so, we were there longer than expected. I never felt rushed. The office ... nice. The office and exam room ... clean! Administration staff, familiar with them by both phone and office visit, super sweet! As Max was a new patient, they waived the first exam fee. Yay! (Appreciated!) I did, of course had to pay for the blood work. Expected! It took some time for Max to come out of his "mellow" state of mind. I was informed this would be the case. Took longer than I had expected though. I was MOST impressed with a follow up call from this office to see how Max was doing the following day. It meant a GREAT deal. Our pets are like our kids. I expect the same healthcare for Max as I do for myself. I was impressed with Pet Medical Center of Boca Raton to say the least. Hopeful we do not have to visit again any time soon. I can not begin to express my gratitude towards the people who work here!! So respectful and caring! My husband and I unfortunately had to make the hardest decision of our lives and let our baby boy go. We refused to go anywhere that would not allow us to go back with him as we could not let him go alone and scared. They spoiled him with love and affection and were so patient. I asked if they did the good bye kisses and they had no idea about it; that didnt stop the beautiful soul that helped us through this tough moment finding any chocolate she could get her hands on. She brought him brownies, fudge, anything that she could find. Thank you for the kind words in the card that came with his ashes along with his fur and paw print. I was searching for a good veterinary office for my three girls (aka Chihuahuas) I read many, many reviews of local veterinarians and was very impressed by all of the positive reviews Pet Medical Center received. I decided to make an appointment and have been very pleased with all of their services in the past two years. I see Dr.Roof and he is exceptional. The reason I started to see him in the first place was because the reviews spoke of how patient, kind, and thorough he is. He really does take his time during your appointment and addresses all issues and concerns you may have. He explains everything thoroughly and answers all of my questions each time. He never pushes me to make a choice regarding the care of my dogs, and always complies with what I decide without judgment. Plus on top of that he is super compassionate. When I had to put my 17 year old Chihuahua to sleep, he was so kind and sympathetic about it. The staff is always very friendly and kind as well. They also offer a medical savings plan which I took advantage of from my first appointment. I use the gold plan and that gives me an annual check up with all vaccinations, bloodwork, urinalysis, and if needed x-ray. In addition, I get a second bloodwork and dental cleaning each year as well. The best part is every time you make your monthly payment or pay for any other services you accrue points, which then convert to savings. Sometimes when I go in to get my dog her Allergy shot I don't even have to pay a dime. I have recommended pet medical center and Dr. Roof to some friends already and will continue to do so. I am very pleased and would encourage anyone to see Dr. Roof if they are looking for a quality veterinarian. read more

I have had a mixed experience with this vet. They do have good hours, including weekends. What the public sees of the facility is nice. Their dog scale is in the waiting room. We have a dog that was overweight, borderline dangerously overweight, and these vets didn't help. They had a weight loss food in a can that the dog flat out would not eat. Dr. Hughes said he didn't know how to treat her for this problem and suggested the veterinary hospital in Gainesville. I started searching on the Internet for a vet in south Florida who claimed competency in nutrition and weight loss, found one, went to her for a consultation, and she told us no treats of any kind and much more exercise. This did it and she has lost most of the weight she needs to. More recently she had a problem with infection around her eyelids. What he prescribed did nothing, I took her back for a 2nd visit and got different, more expensive drugs which have at least partly cured it. Particularly annoying is that the day after the visit there will be a follow-up phone call from a staffer; the English of one of them is pretty poor. With problems like this, asking the next day how things are going is useless, it takes more than 24 hours for results. But beyond this one call there was no other follow-up. I'm thinking seriously about changing vet. If you go there, expect to be pressed to buy their insurance. They say it makes animal care more affordable; I'm not convinced. Many things are free (routine office visits are), and some supplies have a discount. But they aren't cheap because the insurance premiums exceed what we would have paid if we paid cash. I suspect the insurance, which is central to the practice, is pretty profitable for them. read more

Absolutely awesome hospital! It's a brand new beautiful facility located in a very convenient location in Boca Raton, right off Glades Road. The staff is absolutely amazing! Friendly faces greet you when you arrive, and special attention is given to your pet. Scheduling is not an issue. There are two doctors that work at the location, Dr. Hughes and Dr. Roof. I must say, Dr. Roof is simply wonderful. He gives you his full attention, answers any and all of your questions/concerns about your pet, and has a genuine interest in the well-being of your pet. They have pet plans that are super convenient and affordable, and they help offset the cost of your pets medical care. Overall a fantastic place, and I would highly recommend to anyone! My experience with this veterinary office has been nothing but professional, clean, caring, and all the staff goes above and beyond to help care for both of my pets. I have been there twice once with my cat, and once with my dog to see Dr. Roof. I did an annual check up for both of my pets on separate visits but for my cat it was not economically feasible to sign him up for the vet care plan that this office offers & Dr Roof explained it was more economically feasible to pay A La Carte. When I brought my dog in for his one year check up I ended up signing up for a plan for $29 a month which my breed is a high maintenance breed and I see the benefits of having this plan for my furry kid. I can tell you that I was extremely impressed with the vet tech that was helping me with my dog as they requested his records from another office and the information did not make sense and she continued to follow up until the proper information was sent in before the appointment. It is very rare that an office will give a new patient a first office visit discount which they did. I will say also this is a very very clean office with state of the art equipment and tests were run that I was not able to have at another office. No one introduces themselves. I had to ask the vet tech and the doctor for their names. The tech was pretty nice, but the doctor bothered me because he seemed rushed, didn't greet me or my cat and he was uninterested in answering specific medical or financial questions. They must have tried to sell me pet insurance 20 times. I felt held hostage there bc the first appt is free, but if I needed to consider my options financially the price goes up next time. Idk. They weren't terrible, but I felt like the whole appt was focused on selling me their in-house per insurance plan....which didn't seem like a good deal since it didn't even cover medicine. It felt like a used car lot and I felt upset bc I love my pet and not sure what I can afford. I felt very pressured. I ended up walking out in tears. I know some of it is because I'm worried for my pet, but there was no empathy from the doctor and that isn't cool. Follow-up: I went to another vet today and received amazing care. The vet and tech shook my hand and introduced themselves when they walked into the room. The vet spoke through her diagnostics and thought process, making sure I understood everything she was considering. At no point did did I feel pressured to buy an over priced pet insurance and I left feeling whole-hearted and reassured that my cat was in good hands. STAY AWAY FROM DR.ROOF. read more

The experience I had yesterday at the Pet Medical Center was not pleasant. I had been going there with my dog for grooming sessions regularly for quite some time and I always felt that the quality of care for both pets and their owners had been at least professional. Usually it doesn't take longer than 90 minutes, sometimes less for the completion of a grooming. This time I waited much longer for my dog to be returned. What was most disconcerting was that the staff was completely cold and indifferent. When the groomer finally appeared with my dog she stated "he's getting too old for this" and that he now has to be "hand dried" whatever that meant. She said when she used the dryer the dog started freaking out. First of all, no one wants to hear that their dog was "freaking out." I bathe my dog between grooming sessions continually and he never has a problem with the dryer. Either it was too hot or he had a problem being there for so long. A dog should not be so distressed during grooming sessions. I will now look for a groomer and a staff that can communicate far better. read more
