Came to this petco for the first time, this petco is huge. There is also a grooming salon inside. For some reason there are a lot of people products at this store lol, including clothes that say "dog mom". We came today and had teddy pick out a treat since it was his birthday today. The staff was friendly and helpful.

They had what we were looking for. Our new dog gravitated towards some bones and chew toys and we were glad for the options. Some of the aisles had pee on the floor though, and that should be mopped up immediately so owners and dogs don't step in it. The cashier was also not super friendly or understandable when messing up our rewards phone number and asking to do 2 separate purchases. Wish we would be more incentivized to come back here with our dog, but wasn't a perfect time.

Very helpful staff. Nice, clean aisles. Variety of merchandise for all of your pets. Adoption available. Rewards program.

worst experience ever. I will never ever bring my dogs back again. I have two Newfoundland dogs, I brought one in and they did an ok job for a decent price. so I decided to bring in my other newfie, she had some mats on her chest so they said they needed to charge a little more $$ to cover the added time need to remove the mats, so they charged me $120 and all they did was shave my dogs chest and left the fur around it the original length. Also upon returning home I noticed that my dog had a limp that she did not have before going there, it has been three weeks and she is still limping. WTF DID THEY DO TO HER to make her that injured

Adryn (I hope I spelled her name right) was so helpful with my pending pickup order, I ordered 4 items around 9:30 am and it was supposed to be ready by 1 pm. So then I made a trip out of it, took me mum to lunch and stopped by Petco Brea by 1:30 pm. I was baffled to find that the pickup email never came through, and my Petco account on the website says it's pending for delivery. Very confusing. So one clerk called the manager for help, they searched for my order, and it's not in their system. So the manager (Adryn) called the Petco hq to push my order through so they can give me the items. While on hold, she picked the items out for me, and they're ready as the hq woman told her that my order will take time to get through. Smart and savvy Adryn then decided to ring my items up in the store, gave me the same discount that I got online, and then she'll cancel the pending online order once it's thru to their system. Best solution to a logjam that we were experiencing. My pup and I would like to thank you again; to the manager and staff of Petco Brea, best customer service ever! -red.

Jasper's post grooming from Bridget and pre-Christmas card photo shoot.

I almost stopped taking my 68 lb. Husky, Jasper, to this grooming salon about a year ago because his groom was hit and miss (mostly miss) and they didn't do the things I specifically asked for (teeth cleaning, sanitary, and blueberry facial) but still charged me. I also got major attitude, hang ups, and simply no callbacks when Jasper was done from 2 groomers in particular there (their names started with M but I really don't remember the names). The real sticking point was when one of these groomers said my dog was 'aggressive' when I was waiting to be helped (she hadn't even touched him to evaluate him yet) which simply isn't true at all and it really insulted me, he's a big, tall boy but so docile and will pretty much let you do anything to him. After all this I stopped bringing in my dog in. However, Petco Grooming's price points are really hard to beat. I brought Jasper back a few months later with a lot of reservations. I called to make an appointment and Bridget just so happened to pick up. I shared with Bridget the way the other groomers had treated me and my dog in the past and how the quality of the groom was inconsistent from month to month. It just so happened she did my dog the few times he actually had a great groom and she said she enjoyed doing Jasper because he was easy-going about most of the groom (aggressive, my a$$). I resolved that as long as Bridget was there to groom (or at least supervise the groom) on Jasper I'd be happy. At some point those 2 horrible groomers I mentioned left the location, so that just makes it all the better. Side note: Jasper got his teeth around a skunk early one morning and I had to do an emergency bath on him myself. Yes he was a very good boy but he's big and shakes A LOT. After all the soap, vinegar, and baking soda facials from that bath and the 45 minute long blow dry and brush session I realized that I don't tip Bridget nearly enough to do what she does. Bridget notices all the little things going on with Jasper from month to month, sometimes he gets scabby elbows from being at doggy daycare, small patches of hair missing from old scabs caused by allergies (he likes laying in the grass), his occasional extra dirty coat, or even the faint smell of skunk spray (see sidenote) from a month old encounter. What makes her special is she notices all of it and tailors his groom each time to help with those scabby elbows, his shedding, his hay fever, or extra face washes to get the skunk smell gone. I appreciate that the most. Thank you, Bridget (and team).

I left Maltipoo to get groomed and the lady that checked me in at Petco (Adrienne) was rude off the bat! As soon as I said I have an appointment she said YOU'RE LATE I said well I went to Petsmart in error. She assessed my Maltipoo and said she is matted I will need to shave her. She said you should bring her every 4-6 weeks I said I'm busy and getting an appt is tough she said do you work 7days a week? All rude!! I should've just left! But my dogs bday is 4/23 so I wanted her to look pretty. After 2hrs they called me to tell me they injured my pup and had to take her to the VET!! They didn't even call me. They left a message saying this is the 2nd time we call (not true!) we brought your dog back we cut her. We couldn't finish the grooming she said!! Uh!! Not only did they hurt my pup they mangled her grooming! One Paw was shaved and the other 3 were not plus her face was full of fur!! Uh!! Worst groomer and grooming ever!

Its a great deal for unlimited classes. It's a treat based training system, which works great for food. She teaches "faking the dog out" in order to get them off the treats, but honestly this hasn't worked for me. My dog is much too smart for that. But It Seems To Work for Other dogs. It takes a lot of work to train your dog. She lists a lot on what she'll teach in each class, but I don't feel she covers everything. You really do need to ask if you need something specific. It'd be great if she offered classes not always Saturday morning too, I understand it, but it's limiting. I also think it'd be pretty cool if she taught thing like putting away toys. :D useful My dog has learned some things, I personally have learned more! It really is a great opportunity, but you have to follow through at home. It's not easy. Compared to petsmart, this is more bang for your buck and teaches you more. It's more up and close and Cindy is the sweetest! This is my experience-go try out a first class for free and you decide!

I soon learned that I could do whatever I wanted to do and I could make all the rules in household. I could nip at my owners ankles, hands, arms and whatever I could get close to. Sometimes I even drew blood. I thought this was fun. I barked whenever I wanted to, which was most of the time. If the door opened I would run outside and not come back even if I was called, it was great fun. My owners decided to send me to Stephanie for boot camp training. I was only 14 weeks old and didn't really want to go. Even though I was totally in charge of my household I agreed with my owners to spend two weeks with Stephanie. The first thing I learned was to only bark when it was really important. I learned to sit, stay, and heel. I learned how to walk on a leash in public without jumping on people, barking at people, or snapping and barking at other dogs. It turned out that Stephanie was really cool. She never yelled at me or hit me. Instead when I did something right she would love on me and pet me and tell me what a good girl I am. While I thought I would miss my owners being away for two weeks from home, the two weeks went really fast. When they came to pick me up I was really proud To show them everything that I learned. The couple of weeks later Stephanie came to my owners home to teach me "perimeter training". Of course I learned this really fast given the fact that I am now a smart girl with a college education. I would give Stephanie a five star rating. She is the best. I would like to go back and see her again and maybe even stay some time with her but I seem to know everything there is to know already. My owners call me the best dog ever! My owners just bought another Labradoodle. His name is Tucker and he's a big brute but he is only nine months old. He was also incredibly supportive of me, helping me work through my own fears and nervousness. Because of his guidance, I can now actually play box with KB without the fear that he'll suddenly react toward me. We covered so much ground, including: * Command & Muzzle Work: Building a foundation of safety and communication. * Boundaries: KB used to be glued to my side whenever I answered the door. Now, he can stay calmly on the couch while I greet someone, and he stays indoors even when I go through the patio door. * Safety & Care: Tony was always so accommodating with scheduling. If it was too hot for an outdoor session, he would proactively suggest changing it for KB's safety. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed with your dog's behavior, go to Tony. Working with Vladae will!…read more We've been working with Vladae for about four months with our now six-and-a-half-month-old Golden Retriever, Coach, and it has been one of the best investments we've made. What sets Vladae apart is that he doesn't just train dogs, he teaches owners how to build a lifelong relationship with them. Every lesson leaves us with practical tools, clear direction, and the confidence to continue the training every single day. Because of that, the progress doesn't stop when the session ends. Vladae has an incredible ability to understand dogs. Watching him read a dog's behavior, body language, and mindset is genuinely fascinating. He knows exactly how to communicate with each dog in a way they understand, and it's clear this comes from years of experience and a deep understanding of canine psychology. He's also one of the most invested professionals we've ever worked with. Throughout the week, he encourages us to send videos, provides thoughtful feedback almost immediately, and is always available to answer questions or jump on a call if we need guidance. You never feel like you're figuring things out on your own. He truly cares about both the dogs and the people raising them, and he always follows through. Every recommendation Vladae has made, whether it's training tools, techniques, or daily routines, has become an essential part of Coach's development. We trusted the process from day one, and the results truly speak for themselves. (See the videos! Coach is only 6.5 months old in them.) Our puppy is happy, confident, well-mannered, and genuinely loves learning. We receive compliments on his behavior everywhere we go, and we owe so much of that to the foundation Vladae helped us build. We also had the opportunity to work with Erica, who trains alongside Vladae, and she was absolutely wonderful. One session with Erica is included in the program, and it was incredibly helpful. It's clear she shares the same passion, knowledge, and dedication that make this training program so special. Vladae brings unmatched energy, professionalism, and passion to every session. He genuinely wants every dog and every owner to succeed, and that level of commitment is incredibly rare to find. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs and is committed to setting both you and your dog up for long-term success, I can't recommend Vladae highly enough. Coach has become an incredible puppy, and we're excited to continue into adult school because of the foundation he's helped us build. We're so grateful we found him!
