My aunt took her two dogs to petco for grooming, bath..etc. when she took the dogs home four hours later their nails weren't cut, ears not cleaned, teeth not cleaned, and anal glands not taken care of. She called the manager (his name is Nicholas) and he said you can't bring your dogs back (well why would my aunt take em back to petco, they did a horrible job). He agreed to give my aunt back 94$ but he mentioned don't bring the dogs back. Nicholas doesn't own petco, he has no right to refuse service to customers eapecially when petco did a nasty and horrible job with the dogs. Petco lost a customer and many more potential customers. Never going to a petco again. Horrible customer service. read more

I've gone to this petco for maybe 10 years, and although it's been sometimes sloe at times, it generally draws in the craziest types of people. I was looking at fish decorations and overheard this customer yelling at a manager. I looked over and could only assume she was intoxicated or worse, she wasn't able to hold still. I started to listen and heard him apologizing to this really rude lady about how the receipt printer was broken and he needed to print one from the back office, and she started recording him like he was a criminal! He leaves to go to the back to get her a receipt and she starts a verbal fight with another customer. I was surprised at the professionalism of the manager and appalled that a customer could act like that. With how kind that manager was, I don't think I'll ever shop at another store! read more

So I went to Petco with my girlfriend today to try and see if I can get a fish for my tank. So I go and I try to get a fish and then once the lady who was in the fish section told me I couldn't get it because of my tank size. Now that is some crazy stuff because of the fact she TOLD ME the other fish in tank KILL the species of fish that I was trying to get. On top of that the fish I was trying to get was in a SUPER SMALL TANK that is even SMALLER THAN MINE!! and she wouldn't sell me it because mine was small? I only have 1 fish and it's a 8 gallon tank. How does that make sense? The fish was suffering and getting bullied in the tank and SHE EVEN TOLD ME THEY DIE BECAUSE OF THE OTHER FISH IN THE TANK! How does that make sense when I'm essentially trying to save the fish. Terrible service definitely racists. On top of that, the little kids next me got their fish and the person DIDNT EVEN ASK ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR TANK (hence they were white). The worker was a white female and I just have to say what she told contradicted herself and I will never go to this Petco again and I URGE EVERYONE to stay away from this Petco. If you look in the fish tanks there are DEAD FISH EVERYWHERE! And she refuses to sell me one because i'm trying to save it from bullying because of my tank size? FWI i'm an experienced in raising fish and what she told me was so stupid and totally contradicted herself. Terrible place STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Nice and clean store. I mainly go in for the fish and the needs of the aquariums. The fish I've purchased here have died rather quickly then normal. Selections of accessories are not that great and the shelves look empty each time. There are a lot of different of fish available. There are also a few employees that are helpful or kind. If I was in the area and in need of something I would go back. read more

This was my pet store until they changed management. Now i pay less with chewy.com and they have very helpful agents. The people at this Petco location are not friendly and give you the "screw you" attitude and look. Nick, the manager, is especially not helpful and very rude. He has no customer service skills and simply doesn't care about customer satisfaction. read more

I took our 17lb Pekinese, Bongidas in for grooming this morning, March 3rd 10am to the Buena Park Petco grooming. When l picked him up l didn't notice the groomer burnt the sheet out of his breast. This is the second occurance at this location. I spoke to them over the first occurance and the one after was fine. However this time they burnt him again, No one said a thing, they just brought him out. This leads me to believe they hire people with either little or no experience. They lost a long time customer. I'm so upset!!! I took my dog into the groomers and told them specifically NOT to cut her hair too short and that I like her shaggy - that she just needed a trim and I did NOT want her to get a poodle cut. I said it more than once!! And what did I get - a dog back that I barely recognize. My poor dog has a poodle cut and she looks absolutely ridiculous. I don't know what I could have said that made it more clear!!! They didn't make me pay for it, but now I have to look at my dog who looks nothing like the dog I'm used to! Don't take your dogs there unless you want them shaved. read more

We are regular customers at Petco and so far we like what we see. We've been bringing our pup here for grooming and last Saturday, May 30 was our 3rd time. We did our Obedience Training here, which we like a lot and can't wait for the July schedule to come out. Our first time visit for grooming was awesome! Karina is excellent. When we picked up our pup he was looked really clean and smelled so good. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for our 2nd visit, which another person helped us...No bueno =( We decided to give Petco a chance and try for the 3rd time, except w/a different groomer. Different from our 2nd visit. We picked up our pup on Saturday and he looked more relax. He wasn't scared. He gave us the same affection as he did on his 1st grooming experience. Trust me. I was being very observant. I did smell the shampoo, checked our pup's body and ears. Jordan did an amazing work with my pup. What I especially like also is Jordan was very thorough over the phone explaining to us about our pup's behavior during the grooming session. We're happy that our pup is smelling and looking clean. The customer service here is great but, puppy training was horrible. The young girl during both of our sessions was yawning the whole time. Our dog was the only dog in the training. The 2nd visit she said she couldn't train our puppy and refunded our money. However, she said she would be willing to train her privately for cash, hummm...odd?? We are now fans of Petsmart, excellent trainers. read more

Staff nowhere to be found, I just needed to buy crickets! I normally go to Reptile Island, a quality place to buy reptiles etc, etc.... but since it was just crickets, and I was heading home from work, I'd thought i would give this place a try. BIG mistake. Ended waiting 12 minutes in line JUST to order the crickets.....1 worker at the front, with a line building up.....processing (1) bag of dog food for $20.99. Fast forward nearly 20 minutes of waiting around for less than a dollar worth of crickets, I found that they charge a ridiculous 15 cents for each measily starving, dilapidated looking crickets. SERIOUSLY?? Unless these are royal crickets from the bizantine bloodline, that are only fed sweet ambrosia, it's ridiculous that they charge that much. I had to walk out of this place just on principle.... I'd rather just drive the extra time to go to a locally owned, reputable place where they won't have you sitting forever. read more

I will start off by saying this is the closest pet shop to my house and i commonly go there to buy food and medicines for my fish. Well they are having their $1. a gallon aquarium sale and i was looking to buy 4 tanks - 3 20 gallon long tanks and a 75 gallon but i needed measurements of the tanks to make sure they would work out for my planned location for them. I found the 20 gallon tanks and saw the sign saying the sale was for up to 75 gallon tanks so we asked an employee and he came over to the fish section and he seemed kinda irritated we were asking about the 75 gallon tank and in a rude tone pointed to the sign and told us to look at the fine print saying a 75 gallon is in select stores. So we asked him what local stores would have them, if this store doesn't stock them, well i guess that offended him and he quickly said "I have never seen them in the Southern California area before" In reality that may be true and I wont know till i call around but if i ask a question like that, YOU being the employee that would want to help a customer should go ask a manager if you do not know of any stores locally that have it or look it up in the computer. The tone of this employee completely offended me as if I was asking something that shouldn't be asked .. it is on the big (4inX15in) tag on the shelf .. the response and attitude that was given was not warranted for the simple question we were asking. I ended up walking out not buying anything. Guess i need to drive 1 mile further from my house and go to a Petsmart instead at least they will price match the $1 a gallon sale and I wont need to support a store that has lost their customer service skills since they have remodeled. the moral of my story is yes i was asking for items that were on sale and i am sure at those prices they do not make much profit if any but i would have needed glass tops LED lights, filters,heaters,and gravel to set them up. i had planned to spend $400-$450 tonight if the 75 gallon was a 48in long tank. in the end i went home empty handed and very disappointed in the customer service. Went to this Petco one night while it was pouring rain because I needed to get my cats some food. I walked up to the store and noticed it was closed 30 minutes early. I didn't come very close before an employee inside screamed at me, "We're closed!" He also told me to F-off and leave. I wasn't trying to bang my way in even with rain pouring down on me. I had not even been inside the store and I was already treated poorly. Definitely buying my cat food online from now on. read more

Awful store, awful customer service, awful dog training! Do NOT take your puppy here for training, it is a complete JOKE! We went to 2 out of the 6 sessions we paid for and then stopped because it was such a waste of time. The girl struggled with our puppy because she could already sit on command and do some of the other things they were supposed to "teach" her. Then one time she had the nerve to say our pup was hyper...well no kidding she was a 4 month old puppy! read more

I used to always come to this Petco to get my dog groomed, I had moved away for a year and now that I'm back in the area I figured I would go back to the same place for groomings. I should have known it wasn't going to be a great experience when the people I talked to on the phone weren't very friendly... But i brought my dog in and the people in the salon weren't friendly to me, or my dog, who is always timid at first when I drop him off. I came in for a basic wash and teeth brushing, at the Petco I had been going to for the past year if you bring in your dogs toothbrush its only $5 for a teeth brushing, so I normally only pay $25 total... this place still charged full price for the tooth brushing. I can't believe I just payed $34 to have rude people give my dog a bath! I guess I have to find another groomer, or just wait till I visit home to have my dog groomed at the nice petco! read more

I go here once a month for dog food. Feels different than petsmart. They are way friendlier and ask if you need help. They also carry prescription food and have a banfiend vet. If my other two pets didn't pass away within two years of each other, I would certainly keep going to petsmart even though it's a farther drive read more

I have been going to this Petco for many years. I have a lot of pets of my own plus I am a dog trainer and I pick up stuff for clients. I have mostly had positive experiences there but have had issues several times with product not being in stock and one time was treated very rudely by one of the female managers. I was very upset to hear that two great employees are no longer there: Mike and Brittany, they always upheld high customer service values which is hard to come by these days. I noticed the bulletin board by the exit has been removed which is dreadful, lost pets were posted on there as well as rescues available for adoption. The removal of this board is wrong on every level. The ONLY saving grace to this location at the moment is an employee by the name of Nolan AND my 5 star rating is for him and him alone. Nolan has worked there quite awhile and ALWAYS has a smile and HELLO when you walk through the door, HE helps with any questions and concerns, HE is the definition of customer service in my opinion and it is a rare find in this day and age. I am very surprised that the company has not taken an employee like him and trained him into management. They would be very fortunate to get a person of his caliber as a manager and I hope they ensue that option. I choose to continue going here because of location and Nolanl even though prices on average are lower at their major competitor. read more

I recently took two of my dogs here to be groomed. The service there was amazing. The groomer that handled both of my dogs, name was Jim. He was very helpful when recommending the type of cut, and the type of shampoo that would be best. He also did both of their teeth and nails all for a very very reasonable price. Although the two other girls that were working that day, weren't very friendly or helpful, Jim defiantly made up for their lack of customer service. All in all, this experience was a great one and i will defiantly be returning again. I highly recommend Jim as a groomer! read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT FISH!!!! I usually enjoy going to Petcos, however this place is the worst experience I have ever had. There is one lady employee, whom I believe is a manager, that is especially VERY RUDE. I wanted to get some fish, the employee never asked if i needed help even though I had tried to get her attention twice; she finally walked away after the second try. Went to the cashier to get someone to help me with the fish; the same employee that ignored me came back. I asked her for the tropical fish and she questioned me like an FBI agent whether I knew what I was doing. (Honestly I have no idea how old she thought I was, I know i'm asian but I don't look that young. And there was no need for the oh you're just a kid that knows nothing voice.) Told her I've had the tank for a while and had everything set up, i just wanted more fish. She replied with asking how many fish i have currently and yet again if i had EVERYTHING set up... honestly if I said it once you don't have to ask again woman. I told her not a lot and there was more than enough room, but i guess she wanted an actual number, so I told her. (we had only 5 yeah only a few danios which are very small fish.) She said that I shouldn't get more fish because that was already a lot for a 10 gallon tank. I honestly don't know what she is talking about but I HAD TO CONVINCE HER that there was enough space. At this point i gave up trying to be nice, which she realized and replied "oh we have to ask these questions" which i doubt since i've never been asked at ANY petco before. Of course she fishes out the worse fish possible in the tank, the nice and sluggish ones and finally gave me the fish unwillingly. Only one fish survived, the rest died the following day. Didn't want to talk to that employee again so i didn't go back to get my refund. Went to PETSMART the next day and bought more fish, those fish are still alive and its been more than a week. (we also have frys -baby fish-growing now!!) Also met an ex-petco employee from that location who informed me that Petco doesn't care for their fish and other animals nor are they trained to care for them. read more
