It's a Petco. The items are expensive but when you need to get something at short notice, it's the place to go. They have multiple cash registers available but somehow they only open one at a time. Maybe they do open more but when I'm there, it's only one lonely register. The lines get long and somehow it takes a while for the staff to initiate the opening of another cash register. This one time I was there, a lady in front of me was like asking all sorts of questions about how to open the water bottle, about how to loosen the leash, about how much to feed her dogs the dry food. She bought two of everything but when the total came up, she was like "Ohmygod. Are you sure it's THAT much?" Hello!? Have you seen what you bought? While this was all happening, I believe there were 6 people waiting in line behind her. We're in here almost every day. When you have a rapidly growing puppy, you tend to go through things very quickly. Everyone in the store is VERY friendly. The cashiers are always great! The trainer, Robert, is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have while your browsing the store. He also has a flexible training schedule so if you decided to sign up for a class, there are many options. I haven't had him groomed here yet but when I came in to inquire, Raylene was their to answer all my questions, gave me her card and even wrote down all the info on the back of it that I needed. When I'm ready to get him groomed at PetCo, I will definitely ask for her. She was super nice, energetic, and genuinely seemed to enjoy her job. Although I can usually get my puppy's food cheaper from their competitor, they price match! So I can just bring in the ad to get a price reduction. One time I called the store because I found his food over $10 less while browsing at the competitors store and they refunded me the difference I paid the day before on my next visit. My pup also likes all the different cookies in their treat bar. It's the only thing I let him eat that isn't gluten free :) I will say that unfortunately they don't always have what I need. But the people make up for it and I do like that they are open late every day. With my schedule, I usually have to shop an hour before closing. read more

I've been a Petco customer for over 15 years. When we came across a Petco Adoption Ad we decide to go with Petco since it is a reputable company.  We met with a female subject in question inside the Petco store in Buena Park.  We were told by Petco employees including Dan, the store manager that she had been in their store for an hour before we got there.  They also mentioned that she looked suspicious.  The female subject in question has been scamming people all over the LA area off of Craigslist and Hoobly posing as a Petco partner by using a Petco Adoption Application form asking for $350 or more.  She is black, 5'4"-5'5", 125lbs-135lbs, has a stud piercing underneath her chin and on the side of her cheek, blue contact lens, black shower cap, blue mask, long false eye lashes, long finger nails posing as a Petco employee wearing blue scrubs, and a work badge.  We shopped inside the store with her as well.  She had us fill out a Petco Adoption form and received $350 from us to adopt a puppy.  Dan, the store manager informed us that he had found the female in question online posing as a Petco partner.  When asked if he gave this information to the police handling our case he said that he didn't.  We found this completely unprofessional and peculiar that he withheld this information from the police.  We were hoping that we would be compensated by Petco in regards to this unfortunate incident that occurred in their store.  Petco refused to take any accountability in regards to this matter.  They did not offer compensation despite the fact that it happened in their store.  We would have liked to continue to be a loyal Petco customer but unfortunately cannot do so after being disappointed with how they handled this situation. read more

This spot has consistently disappointed me for the past 2 years for the grooming service. The staff never picks up the phone when I have questions or other inquiries. I would drive if I have failed to receive any feedback. When I finally get there, I stand patiently for 25 minutes waiting for someone to attend me and they never do. When I finally get one of the ladies to assist me, they are rude, egotistic, demeaning, unmotivated and just plain have terrible customer service. I have given each visit many chances hoping the next would be better but it keeps getting worse and worse. read more

Reylene was by far the best groomer but now that she is gone don't waste your time on their overpriced grooming unless you like people to be mean to you. I haven't gone to this Petco for other than buying pet supplies and fish, so don't get all butthurt if you don't like that I gave them a 5 star rating. Usually when I come here everyone is nice and awesome. There was one time when there was a rude female cashier that helped me and I wasn't fond of her, but thank god I haven't had to deal with her since that time. They usually have everything that I need, so their shelves are stocked with product. There have been a couple Rome's where I wanted to buy fish and they were in quarantine.. the workers were nice enough to tell us what was happening and that they didn't want to sell us fish just Incase that batch was sick too, so we REALLY appreciated the honest help. I went into the store today wondering if my dog can get his teeth brushed and a 15 min brushing (they're walk in no apt needed) so the lady who approached me said they were booked but would see if they can accommodate me. She then walked into the grooming station where it's clear glass windows and she had mentioned it to another worker, Alexa who then told her by reading her lips "No we can't" with an attitude then looked at me with a dirty look. Alexa (blonde girl) was very rude and she wasn't even the one helping me but just by that dirty look she gave me was very unprofessional on her behalf. Sam was very great with explaining and even suggested my cat (chicken) to start off with a bath rather than straight to haircut since it was chickens first time at a groomers. I've been coming to this Petco almost my whole life and never really had a problem until today so I'll give it one more star than my experience tonight. Came in to buy night crawlers and their only box was bad, I had an associate check to confirm. Since I made the trip I figured I'd pick up some shrimp while I'm there, I just wanted ghost shrimp and I saw a couple, but the tank was labeled for amanos which are $3 each and the ghosts probably jumped over. Ghosts are 50 cents, but the associate refused to sell them to me for a ghost shrimp price since the tank they were in was labeled for amanos and he stated he can't sit there and spend time debating whether the shrimp I wanted were ghosts or amanos. I keep both types of shrimp at home already and they were CLEARLY ghosts. I also heard him talking to a lady before me about how he's kept tanks since he was 10, so I assume he had the knowledge and can tell the difference too. Anyway I left the store with nothing cause I wasn't going to pay $3 for ghost shrimp. Really disappointed and wasted my time. read more

The workers here are very friendly and helpful! Parking is easy to find as well. You're able to bring your dog in, but i make sure to keep him close by. Sometimes there's training going on in a secluded room which is always interesting. They have a wide variety of things to choose from. I usually go here for my dog supplies. read more

Kimberly at the Buena Park location has been lovingly grooming our dog for years. He absolutely loves her and enjoys his time with her. She is very thorough and treats our dog as if he were her own. We love her and the excellent job she does so much so that we drive two hours each way to have her groom our dog. We know 1000% he is safe and in good hands!!! read more

I have been shopping at this store for years. I have spent thousands of dollars on my dogs, buying them supplies, dog food, treats and dog toys. However over the past few months I have seen a steady decline in customer service. For example tonight I went in there and not only did the cashier barely even acknowledge me, he and his coworker were discussing girls coming in wearing yoga pants. I understand they are young, but this could be discussed somewhere else besides the cashier desk at a place of employment. I may need to find somewhere else to shop. read more

Murphy is my pet turtle, and he's the love of my life. When his heat lamp first went out, I replaced it with a spare bulb. It didn't work, so I thought the lamp itself was broken. I went to Petco and bought a new lamp, tried it at home, and it still didn't work. I brought it back, and KELLY, the cashier, was really nice and asked if I wanted someone to check out the lamp to see if it was broken. I said, "Sure," and waited for the guy to come out. I THINK his name was Kyle, but I'm not sure. He actually tested out the lamp, said it works, but that my spare bulb was the culprit. He then tested out a new bulb to make sure it worked, and it did! He was really helpful. He suggested that, if you're going to buy a bulb, ask someone to test it out to make sure it works! The only reason I deducted a star was because the first time I went in there (to purchase the lamp), there were 2 cashiers available- the younger one was right in his checkstand, the older one was busy sweeping near his checkstand. Naturally, I go to the cashier who's not doing anything, but what does he say? He says, "Oh, that guy over there can help you." You lazy piece of shit. You're standing right at your checkstand not doing shit, and you're making me go the guy who's sweeping? What an asshole. Thank goodness for nice people like Kelly and Kyle. read more

The employee Tyler working on 01/15/2017 around 6:50 p.m. is the most disrespectful, rude and unprofessional individual that I ever met in my life. He was smirking basically making a joke of the situation that my family and I were in regards receipt printer not working properly at that moment. He took advantage of that situation which brought incovient waste of time. In the front of the cash register there is no sign posted about not accepting checks which state of California laws dictate there should be a sign posted in front of the register. My grandfather tried to pay with check but they refused. So I took pictures of before and after to show how vindicated and unethical this employee was with my family and myself. Secondly another petco customer decide to take things in her hand and not know why I took the picture of the employee she started verbal assaulted me and my family. Also the female employee that was working there was very aggressive with me defending her coworker who created the chaotic situation. This is my go to place for our fur babies. We wanted to find some harness for them and we weren't sure how the gizmo worked lol. My husband found a sales associate who quickly taught us the easy method of placement. We were in awe of his friendliness, his professionalism and his patience. He's one of many wonderful people here who love their job. There was another employee, a young black man, who was extremely knowledgeable concerning the puppy training classes. Took my 6mo old Coconut (Maltipoo) for her first hair cut today. I have to say the staff is wonderful! We were greeted with smiles and friendly faces. My Coconut was a little shy at first but the staff quickly made her feel comfortable. Nikki was the gal who did her cut. She was very patient and treated my baby with love and kindness. I highly recommend getting your babies groomed there. I will absolutely be back in a few months for her next cut. read more

I don't normally write bad reviews because I don't like complaining but I came in here yesterday just to waste some time and maybe try to get something for my pet... It's a pretty clean place and most animals are doing well but when I saw those baby ball pythons, they looked like they're being neglected. I can clearly see the spine on one of them with his skin just hanging out and the other one has a respiratory issue and is not fully shedding like they're suppose to. That's the only problem i can see with this store so please take care of that problem immediately. read more

I had gotten a coupon from Royal Canin for a free bag of dog food (I just had to pay the taxes). I went to the store and picked up the bag and got in line to pay. The line was long and moving very slow. After 10 minutes it was my turn. The coupon was not scanning, the dates were valid, but it just wouldn't scan. The employee called her manager who ended up being a total jerk. He looked at the coupon and asked me a million and one questions, he pretty much insulted me and acted as if I was lying about the coupon, he was rude and accusatory. He asked me if he could go to back and make a copy of it. He then returned and said I could not use the coupon because it wasn't scanning. He was a total jerk, he could have just said no to the coupon from the beginning since it wouldn't scan. He didn't have to make me wait another 10 minutes while he made a copy of it and accused me of shit. I was supposed to buy some other items and ended up so upset I refused to give them my business. Since my dog still needed dog food I decided to take my business to another Petco. I got the bag of dog and other items and went to pay. When I was about the pay the cashier saw my coupon in my wallet and asked me about it. Since she asked I gave it to her. She tried scanning it and it did not scan. She called a manager who came and accepted the coupon after looking through a folder. I just paid taxes on it and paid for the other items and that was it! What was the other managers problem?! This other Petco had no problem with it! I told them about what this store and they apologized for him. They said this was not Petco policy and that I should call and complain to Petco. Filthy ass men's restroom (literally). There was fecal all over the toilet and wall tiles. There was no toilet paper, and urinal had thick crust of urine acid residue. The floor, sink, and mirrors were dirty too. Men employees must have their own private restroom, including the "General Manager," since they don't care much about providing cleaning facilities for customers. A multi-million dollar establishment that cuts back on janitorial maintenance is a shame.!!! My wife spent good money on our pet here today, but I will make sure WE ban this place. read more

This PetCo won't sell you their animals. So we came in for a pet and decided to get a chameleon. We asked the employee, which happen to be the manager, and she said we could not BUY** it because we didn't have the right habitat for it. She was hesitant to sell it to us. And then we said we would buy the correct habitat for the animal and the MANAGER said she had to ask her "manager". After about an hour of waiting she told us we couldn't buy it and kicked us out of the store. This manager was very rude and disrespectful. Very bad management. Service may be good, but I've noticed for a couple years now that this Petco and the one in LB Towne Ctr, probably all Petco's, have been changing doggie treats. It's gotten to the point that the only treat left at Petco that my dog likes are the Greenies dental bones. I'm only writing this review because I went to the PetSmart in Los Al and they have a wider variety of treats that my dog has liked. I have two cats, a snake, and a large Algae Eater...I know,,,such a random family of pets!!! This Petco is just a couple minutes from my house. Im going to say right up front: I don't like Petco. ANY Petco. Its not just this location. This review is an overall review of nearly 20 years of dabbling in Petco locations. I AM a fan of Petco's competition,,,and they are where I usually shop. But,,,as I said,,,this Petco is just around the corner from me,,,,so on occasion, I make a run for my pets needs. Tonight,,,I needed food for my Algae Eater. So,,,I ran in. This place just always seems to be a hot mess. It took me like 5 minutes of wandering up and down the fish department isles to find what I was looking for. I finally found a couple brands to choose from. Nobody asked me if I needed help. Nobody has ever asked me if I needed help at Petco. Ive never, ever been to a Petco that has more than one register open. So,,,,I wait in line. The person at the register always look like they are forced to be there. The place just has no good energy flowing...... My overall experience is just not good. Customer service,,,bad. I think I will just stock up from now on,,,,,,at my regular pet store. By doing that,,,,I can avoid anymore emergency visits to Petco. read more

A couple days ago I asked if they sold Russian Dwarf Hamsters. She said she had never heard of them and said that they had Campbells Dwarf Hamsters. Well, it turns out, Campbells are a type of Russian Dwarf Hamsters. That was the only time one of their associates didn't know about what they sold. Other than that, is an awesome place. Last time I will ever step into a Petco! I went in to purchase Oxbow rabbit pellets, but they didn't sell that brand, they only carried Kaytee rabbit pellets. Oxbow is a good brand and I'm used to only buying Oxbow pellets for my rabbit. It's a pretty common brand for small animals. The stupid sales associate never even heard of Oxbow, was pretty useless with helping me out. All of the pellet bags that they had were pretty dirty too with cobwebs, the rabbit hay bags were pretty dry too. This is the reason why I only shop at Petsmart or Pet Supply. Petco doesn't carry a lot of brands and the items on stock are not that great quality. Don't bother going to Petco. read more

My aunt took her two dogs to petco for grooming, bath..etc. when she took the dogs home four hours later their nails weren't cut, ears not cleaned, teeth not cleaned, and anal glands not taken care of. She called the manager (his name is Nicholas) and he said you can't bring your dogs back (well why would my aunt take em back to petco, they did a horrible job). He agreed to give my aunt back 94$ but he mentioned don't bring the dogs back. Nicholas doesn't own petco, he has no right to refuse service to customers eapecially when petco did a nasty and horrible job with the dogs. Petco lost a customer and many more potential customers.
