HORRID HORRID HORRID!! came in last night after my first dog training class and i knew that they wouldn't be busy at 8:30 and i was only getting an easy walker(that i have never used before) and dog treats. Was not greeted by the cashier who did not have a customer. walked straight back to the collars thinking it would be there and couldn't find it so i asked for help. he proceeded to point to the dog sign hanging from the ceiling and said that they were over there. i said that he was pointing to a whole corner of the store and asked where again. he walked by about 20 ft and said do you see where the Wohl? balls hanging there on the end are? (NO I CANT SEE THAT FAR) i replied yes because of the horrable atitude he had and figured i could find the hanging balls. him "they are there on the right!" i after looking at all the training harnesses i finnallllyyy picked out a red and black one. and grabbed some training treats and proceeded to check out. I reminded him that i had no idea how to use this and that i was just told to come get this. he proceeded just to check me out and ask if there was anything to get for me today. (YES YOU CAN GET MY AN EMPLOYEE WILLING TO EXPLAIN YOUR PRODUCTS) I came in today to return the easy walker after my visit at Weber's Pet Supermarket (please see review). The dog trainer was there. She asked if the easy walker worked. I told her i had no idea but after the service i had last night i went weber's and they where much more helpful. She asked what happen last night. i told her that i came in last night and told the guy that i had never used one and that i didn't know where they were, and how he just pointed over there(told her that he pointed from where she was standing) and did not ask to help me, if i knew how to size this thing, or what it even does. She told me that it is his job to help the client and that we are to size the collars or at least offer to size them. So not every employee is bad but ik i dont want to go find the dog trainer for everything i need. read more

Disgustingly dirty store in Fairfax at 10708 Lee Highway. I had been in the practice of going once or twice a week when I needed supplies for my pets and even during COVID they things used to be good. But in the last 3 months or so things have spiraled downhill fast. Staff is glue to their personal phones while stock is half unpacked all over the place. Dog pee spots are never cleaned up and are still there days later when I visit again, restrooms are disgusting with overflowing trash and the same trash items still on the floors 2 weeks later, ceiling has leaks all over the pack and looks like it's about to cave in at any moment. Caught a glimpse of the employee break room when looking for the restroom and trash was overflowing and some kind of animal cage in there with junk all over the pace. Sad state of affairs and no one seems to care. Not shopping here anymore. The poor animals housed there..... read more

I have gone to this Petco twice in the past month, and I can't believe how rude the workers are there. The first time when I was there, I went to get an aquarium stand. There was no price on the product, so I asked the male worker, "Would you tell me how much this is?" He responds, "No I have absolutely no idea." without smile and did not say anything for a minute after this response. So I said, "Oh,... Okay." Then he said, "If you really want to know, I can find it out for you." and then finally moved himself to the cashier to find a price. The worker's face pretty much said "I don't like working here, and I don't care about what I do." Today, when I went there again to get aquarium supplies, the cashier asked, "Do you have a Petco Pal card?" So I said, "No, I don't. Would it make a difference if I get one?" She SNAPPED at me and said, "Yeah I guess if you feel like saving $5.25 today, you can sign up." I mean, she said it with annoyance. I thought it was just me who took her this way, but on the way to get out of the store, my husband said, "I think it is the last time that we would come to this store." This store alway seems empty. Getting someone to help in the fish department is difficult and often there is no one at the registers. I really can't see how they keep this location open. read more

I came here to buy a decent amount of aquarium supplies for my S.O (about 100 dollars in total) and definitely would have been a repeat visitor. I was giving really bad service from the cashier and associates (not a nice person in the whole store). It was close to closing time and wanted to get one more item but the cashier said that they were closing. I said ok and left the items. I frequent PetSmart at Fair Lakes now for all my pet needs. This place is THE WORST. read more

The staffs are very friendly and professional. They are very knowledgeable and always willing to help. They always do special orders for me when they do not have it in stock. I have shopped at that stores for over five years and I have only one bad experience with one staff. Other than that, it has been an enjoyable experience shopping there. Worst fish department. Staff is rude and thinks she knows more than customers. She asks me several times if I'm sure I want the fish I tell her yes. She then follows me to the register waits until I check out and then writes on my receipt "No guarantee 1/14". Creepy and rude. No wonder the store is empty. This is perhaps one of the better fish departments in the area. So i dunno if the guy Jorge had a new employee help me or what but I think he probably was there with a new employee. You have to look for Spanish guy who knows a lot of fish or a blonde young girl. They are always friendly when I go there. Also if the GM is there he is always willing to give out coupons. You just gotta ask him he is extremely friendly and willing to help out. read more

I love this location... No issues, can find whatever and the discounts using Pals rewards is what brings me back to the petco yard for my cat. I plan on getting a puppy within the next six months so we will see what happens during this time for grooming, etc. Employees are helpful. read more

Bought a cherry barb and 2 "nerite" snails. The barb had ich, which killed all the other fish in my tank, and the snails were actually ramshorn snails, that filled the tank with tons of babies that will be really hard to get rid of. read more

Jeez this Petco is lacking a lot of things. For some reason i remember better times here a few years ago so I wonder what's been going on the past couple of years. We needed a few new toys and leash and collar for my dog and found absolutely nothing. There weren't even options because it looked like the store had been raided. I was really shocked that our trip was only for a brief 5 minutes. I might have to start going to the Petco off of 50 as they seem to be better stocked. read more

I went in the other to look at the fish selection. And there was just one associate working. So I thought everyone was on lunch. So I went home so I called before I came in again to see if anybody could answer question for me about fish. The guy told me it was just him working the sales floor by himself right now because they were short on payroll. How can you help anyone find anything with just one person read more

I visited the Fairfax VA Petco for the first time today and was extremely impressed by the cleanliness of the store , friendly staff ,and level of expertise. Alicia, the store manager, was kind enough to give me an introductory puppy training class with my 8 week old husky before i committed to their training package. She was incredible with my dog, very gentle but firm and even started training my puppy to fetch on command. She also recommended food, treats and toys with reasonable explanations for her choices. I would recommend this branch of Petco without hesitation and absolutely recommend the training classes with Alicia and her exceptional team. read more

This store needs a major overhaul. Dead fish in the tanks, dead mice in cages. The poor caged animals had not had their cages cleaned in FOREVER! Oh and the Parakeets living conditions made me furious!!! Feathers and feces an inch thick in the floor of the cage, no water of fresh seed, more than 50 in a small cage and whom ever "clipped" their wings absolutely butchered them. If I ever come here again it'll be to protest and I'm far from an animal rights activist. My advice to the management of this PETCO: Hire or schedule more employees and see to it they are properly trained and/or doing their jobs correctly! read more

My only experience is in the aquarium side of things. I got a new aquarium six months ago and have been to several fish stores in the Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax areas. The Tysons Corner Petco has become my go-to place. I have found more of the items that I am looking for here and the staff has always been very helpful - especially Tony who works with the aquariums. A few weeks ago, I asked about some particular shrimp to keep my tank clean. Like all the other stores, they didn't have that type of shrimp in stock, but had actually heard of them. They took my number and said they would contact their distributor. I was surprised when Tony called me a few weeks after that and let me know that they finally came in. Now, they are home, cleaning away. In general, I have always been greeted when I come in. On a few occasions, I have had to look for someone to ring me up, but I always find people busy at work - stocking shelves or helping other customers. Honestly, it doesn't bother me since I see that people are hard at work. This is my first Yelp ever, but I am so pleased with my experiences, I had to share. read more

Horrible. I took out dogs to grooming here about few weeks ago. First of all they gave is wrong price quote over the phone and we we got there it was $10 more expensive. We gave them detailed request and nothing was followed. I don't think they even shampooed my dogs. I noticed they had weird odor when i brought them home and their fur didn't feel like fresh after bath. Also they started stink bad on the very next day. Nails were not trimmed, ears was not cleaned, tails were not even groomed! Worst of all, my girl dog started scratching herself, i noticed rash on her and when i shampooed her it was all over her. I was so upset!! This place is dirty and total waste of money! Will never bring my dogs to this place! Worst experience ever!!!! read more

I was very disappointed in the customer service. I was barely acknowledged much less greeted and definitely not offered any assistance. I had my dog with me and I was buying a large bag of dog food, you would think that someone would offer to hold the door open for me before I struggled to the door. I have had much better experiences at other Petcos and it's unfortunate that one of the closest ones to my house is so crummy. I thought that Petco employees loved animals, but the ones here seem like they hate their jobs. read more

Incorrect hours posted for the groomers. We went in twice in one week to get our dogs nails trimmed and the groomer wasn't there. With our busy, unpredictable, and constantly changing work schedules, there are only so many opportunities to come in for this service. read more

Not to keep leaving one star reviews, but I popped in here to see what kind of mouse supplies they had. Literally all of the employees came out in some big gang and just totally ignored me and my boyfriend, they didn't even look at us then start hooting and hollering at some new guy working there (who said hello to us as we were leaving?). I also noticed a lot of the small animal cages had feces caked all over them. They should clean the full cage, not only the bedding. Also I noticed that crazy girl I mentioned in my first review is still working there and for some reason keeps being the only cashier. read more

I tried the training classes at this Petco for my 12 week old (small) puppy. Overall, it was not a good experience. The trainers are not qualified and have no idea what they are doing. Then they moved the day of the class halfway through, and put us in class with a different and MUCH larger dog. They didn't seem to care at all about the size difference of the dogs even though it was a big difference for my puppy. Also, the pet training is right in the middle of the store so adults and children can watch. This is very distracting for the puppies, especially when the children come and try to pet the dogs right in the middle of the class...and the pet trainers could care less. This class was a waste of my money and I definitely would not recommend coming here for puppy training. read more

This place isn't so bad. I don't know why everyone is giving it such low ratings. It's a small store, so things run out quickly, but it has your standard Petco fare. They have an area where the adoptable kitties are and a grooming center, food for various pets, pet beds. That's what I expect in a store, and that what you get here. The people who work here are friendly enough. I've brought my dog here, and they always say hi to him, but not always to me. read more

I've shopped at this Petco for years now. When I was in buying cat food a few months ago, it seemed to have reached an all time low. The employees were nowhere to be seen and once you did find them, they were rude, and the store was not clean. I feel awful for the animals who are living there. However, I went back in a few weeks ago to purchase cat food again and saw some new faces. Maybe these new employees can help turnaround this store. read more

The only redeeming quality for this location is the staff. The fact that they will not allow me to provide shampoo (they used to do this) when my dog has a bath unless I have a veterinarian's prescription is ludicrous! Speaking with corporate they tell me the reason they won't let me provide shampoo is because they are concerned for the safety of my pet. Yeah, right! I think what they might be concerned about is not using enough of the shampoo from the company that they have a specific contract with. My dog will no longer be getting a bath at any PetCo location. read more
