I live less than 3 minutes from this location and would absolutely loooove if the grooming place ever once answered the phone and/or if online booking actually worked. I've lived here for about 5 years and have taken my dog maybe 5 times. I have to walk in to talk to someone to make an appointment for a later date. I typically drive across town to get my dogs hair groomed, every couple of months, because that groomer answers the phone. The convenience of setting an appointment over the phone and/or online out weighs the inconvenience of having to physically walk into a location only to set and appointment for a later date to then come back. I drive 15 minutes across town when I have a groomer, I can't use, across the street. It's frustrating and unbelievable that it's bern 5 years and still the same results. read more

Disappointed with the service I've gotten lately and I probably won't return to this location. I've taken my pup to the same groomer every visit because he likes her and she's able to handle his sass when it comes to teeth and nails. I've never had an issue before but there have been a few instances that have rubbed me the wrong way. I dropped him off on my day off to get a bath and haircut, long story short, they never called me to pick him up. I looked up the time they closed and decided to head over anyway because it was close to closing time. I sat in my car waiting for the call until finally I walked in and asked about him. They said they were calling me and I found out they were calling my old number that I had previously asked several times to delete. They have called my current number before to pick him up so I'm not sure why my old one popped up again. The groomer left and left it to the kids that work there to reach me. Okay... odd but okay. I was pretty upset that he was just sitting in a crate in the back. No one did anything but act awkward and just had no customer service training whatsoever. A few times now I've gotten to my appointment and the groomer was on break... 1. why have a slot time when your break is scheduled for that time and/or 2. if you see you have an appointment at a certain time, why take a break right at that time? They told me they can't fix the scheduling on the computer. Okay so question 2 then. I got there at 11:45 and she wasn't going to be back until 12:15. So realistically, if you have a 30 minute break, she literally went at 11:45 when I was scheduled. That's pretty rude and inconsiderate since I drive the distance just so he can see the specific groomer. When I asked to speak to a manager, told her the story, she was insistent on fixing the number that has already been fixed. She literally didn't address the current issue of her staff taking breaks in the middle of a shift and not even letting the customer know. Basically, she did nothing and no one gave two s* about it. Extremely disappointed. Especially since I've been going to the same girl for a while now and not even she reached out to explain the situation. I've missed a nail/teeth appt here and there but nothing to get this treatment. If that was an issue to be so upset about, use your words. If there were any issue, again, communicate. We came in today at our wits end with our 7 month old hound (stubborn)-pointer (smart). We spoke to Rachel in lengths who knew so much about food, behavior, and all natural fixes. After doing our best to not crate her, it was now time as our pup was now unlocking doors while we weren't home, chewing wires and eating anything she could. As much as we didn't want to, this was the only solution. She recommended we get Cali some calming drops and a Himalayan chew. We also talked about he constant itching and she recommended salmon strips or changing food totally. No matter our question, Rachel had the answer and was happy to help and extremely pleasant. I brought my new rescue dog here and have only had amazing experiences. From Yolanda in grooming, to Dr. Ledesma and the other vet techs, they were all so great, very helpful and knowledgeable. The vet staff explained how to administer the medication for my dog and Yolanda did an amazing job with the fur issues my dog has. Although I have only had a handful of vet experiences, I really like the staff at this location and can trust them. read more

I had two terrible experiences this year with their groomer. I won't ever go back. The groomer is young and inexperienced. She is also stressed out and in over her head. Do not take your dogs there, my dogs had a bad hair cut, she razor burned all 3 of them and they had severe anxiety when I picked them up. I complained to the management in a survey they sent. The survey said the manager would be contacting me and they never did. So management is aware of the problem and has no desire to fix it or reach out to in happy clients. read more

I find this place consistently dishonest. Example #1 They mail me a coupon for dog food I buy the dog food and hand them the coupon. They scan it and act like they took it. After i get the receipt I see the coupon wasn't taken off. I am told the discount in the store was more than my $5 coupon so I got the better discount. 1. I expect the coupon to be taken off the price any bozo walking off the street gets 2. So the place is clean and nothing is out of place. The layout is a bit awkward but I think that is due to the locations physical limitations. The employees are ok, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them exceptional. They show up, clock in, do their job's minimum requirements and click out. It is what it is. The only thing that I can say was exceptional is that we "discovered" Lucci's next door. They were closed so we'll have to come back another day for that. Crossing my fingers... My sister took her sweet fur baby to get pampered for the day. She's a little mutt and needed a good grooming. My sister was so happy after she talked to Virginia on the phone and Virginia was super sweet when we dropped off Willow to get cleaned up. Unfortunately Willow was attacked last year causing her to lose almost her whole tongue. It's advised she gets her teeth cleaned more often because there could be a lot of bacteria in her mouth now. So my sister got the whole package deal: teeth brush, groomed, nail trim and even a blue berry facial ! Virginia was so sweet about it and we left feeling really assured Willow was in great hands. This was our first time taking one of our fur babies there and now I can't wait to take my other ones ! It's a tad pricey but just about the same every where you go. Even if it was more I would pay more. Virginia made it all worth it! It means a lot knowing your pet is safe where you leave them and I had no doubts leaving sweet Willow there. My family and I love this Petco. Our two rescue boxers went through training when Rachel worked there and they loved it. Every employee truly loves their job and always says hi to all the furry customers and humans of course. I've always been pleased with this Petco compared to other pet stores. Today was my first time visiting this store for the groomers department I scheduled an appointment for my dog. I had unpleasant time in meeting Brian he was very unprofessional and poor customer service. As soon as he saw my dog said he had to cut his hair short. Keep in mind he wasn't matted, Brain ran his comb and saw it was a lot hair. It just seem like he didn't want to take his time in actually give my dog a proper grooming. I was upset he wouldn't take my dog in, I wasted my lunch time. I asked him multiple time and he said he wouldn't take him in. Petco please do a better job in hiring good groomers with better attitude and has good customer service. read more

No offense Petco but you are definitely not keeping up with the competition. I don't know who would want to leave their baby here to get groomed when I took a peak at the back and everything looked so old and dingy!!! The main reason why I dropped by Petco today was because I wanted to quickly grab a new leash for my dog since his was looking like it was about to fall apart. Unfortunately, I left empty handed because the selection was so small compared to what I'd seen at Petsmart and I wasn't able to find any that I liked because they only had the generic looking leashes. I knew I would be happier if I waited until my next Petsmart visit. I swear I'm not sponsored by Petsmart or anything but it's like comparing Nordstrom to Walmart. You can notice a definite difference in shopping experience, without having to pay higher prices. No one greeted my pup or asked if I wanted help finding something like they do at a certain other pet store *ahem* I'm a confirmed Petsmart fan after today's Petco visit. There are a lot of Petco's out there. I think it's safe to say that they are pretty much all the same. They all carry the same stuff and the layout is eerily familiar. The thing that separates this Petco from the others is the staff. I walked in for some flea meds. That's it. Nothing more. I went right to the case and looked for one dosage for a puppy. A nice young lady asked me if I needed help and I explained that I just adopted a puppy and wanted one dose of flea meds to hold her over until we gathered everything she needed. She stopped me right there and said "YOU ADOPTED A PUPPY?! CONGRATULATIONS! What's her name? What rescue did you use? Here is a book of coupons to help you get her everything she needs!" Sure enough she hanged me a coupon book just for people who choose adoption. She was so cheerful and happy I couldn't help but get happy too. I did just get the flea meds, but I made it a point to come back to this Petco to make more purchases. It really makes a difference when the staff is happy and love their jobs. read more

This Petco location has Excellent Customer service!! They have changed the store layout and now have less exotic animal supplies. However, this Petco had no problem special ordering my fuzzies favorite food and giving me a courtesy call each time the order is ready for pick up. I don't even have to call it in each month; they already have my special order programmed to automatically ship on a scheduled basis. The staff at this location are very helpful and friendly. I'm glad I don't have to worry about searching around for my fuzzies special food anymore. read more

Came in to this location yesterday looking for a specialty item. They had it. Cashier was helpful, actually as I walked in, he made eye contact and asked if he could help me find anything. So far so good. Picked up my items and left. Got home and my friend looked at the receipt and said, "Wait a minute....this is too much" So I looked online and sure enough it was half as much. Well, knowing that retail outlets don't always match their online pricing...I checked around...and sure enough...price was also half as much at walmart. So the next time I was out I stopped in and mentioned it to the cashier. He pulled over the manager who mentioned that while their policy doesn't allow them to match their web specials....it does allow them to match other stores. So I showed him the Walmart price on my phone and he went and called to verify and took care of it. The best way to judge customer service is how they act and treat the customer when things AREN'T going smoothly. And they passed with flying colors. Both the manager and cashier made me feel comfortable and at ease through the entire process. As far as the store? Well stocked with a great selection of products and supplies. read more

My 75 pound dog, Romeo, just had the best nail trimming of his 8 year life. He's not aggressive, but he is very strong and pulls away easily from his groomers. Half the time they don't get all of his nails completed. This time, I decided to try Petco on Adams and I'm glad we switched!!! Franchesca worked miracles with Romeo. I've been here a few times for grooming and had another great visit. I originally book my appointment for Saturday but at the last minute had to cancel. When you need to cancel you have to call and I did. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule and yes I did. I rescheduled for the day after with Jasmine. I went in and she was friendly right from the get go. She also had all my paper ready for me so I just had to sign. In an hour I got a call that my pup was ready to be picked up. Super fast! My Olive was smelled so good when I got her. Reasonably priced. Will be back. read more

This has to be the smallest petco I have ever been to. They had no selection of pets(unless you count a feeder tank of gold fish and like 4 rats). So, unless you want dime a dozen goldfish or a rat, don't go to this store. (They probably have pet adoption events, we just didn't go on the day they had any animals, apparently). Their stock also wasn't that diverse. We were shopping specifically for a water reptile and didn't find anything we needed. We also weren't greeted or helped by the staff(not that we saw anyone). Not a great Petco. I thought they were all pretty much the same but this one is seriously lacking. When shopping there, you get the feeling that they're about to go out of business. My kids were disappointed that they didn't have animals to check out. I was disappointed that the brand of dog food I purchase for my dog was $50....$12 more expensive than I used to pay for it at at Global Pet Food Outlet in Torrance. So, until I find a local affordable pet supply we're still buying from Torrance. On a very positive note though, they did an excellent job trimming my dogs nails. I like taking her to Petco because they don't require me to make an appointment for nail trims and have never made her quicks bleed. I took my dog in for a nail trim a few months ago, so this is a delayed review (for a good reason!) We always go to Petco for nail trims but this was our first time at this particular location. Two minutes after we dropped him off, the groomer called us back and said she couldn't work with him because he had "too much anxiety" and told us to go to a vet. 1. My dog is the LEAST anxious. He doesn't give a shit when we leave him alone and loves being around new people. 2. As I said, we had been to other Petcos plenty of times with no problem whatsoever I told her all this, but eft anyway. Today, I went to a Petco in San Francisco asking for a nail trim and the groomer told me there was a note on file about how my dog should go to a vet for nail trims because of his anxiety. The groomer gave it a try anyway because I told him we had no problems at any other Petco. Afterwards, he told me everything went fine and that he would erase that note from our file. We have a german shepherd who needed the deshedding treatment and she is a CRIER!!! The girls were very patient with our dog, and still friendly and patient with us as being the owner - LOL. Highly recommend this grooming department - will definitely be back - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GIRLS - you are hard to find. Just some history: We had been going to the Petco grooming department in Costa Mesa (Harbor & Newport) and was never treated with a smile! Finally I had an issue with rescheduling my appointment and was given a hard time in doing so. UGH! Even after speaking with the manager, I was still not satisfied and disappointed in the customer service there - so we have left and have found a new "home" Petco in Huntington Beach. Very convenient location to pick up quick dog items. The staff is so super friendly and helpful. Have been in several times and never experienced what some previous reviewers write about. Melissa is one employee who has always gone above and beyond with trying to find things for our new pup, but all the people have always been very nice. Hoping to sign up for one of her dog training classes this Summer. Do wish they carried Cannidae dog food. read more

The customer service is really good, and although they are a little young, they are super helpful and nice! They are great answering questions too. From fleas prevention and treatments, to good quality pet food to awesome puppy classes, this is our go-to pet store. I dont know if the other people that have rated this store decided to go in on a busy Saturday and decided to get waited on hand and foot, but these guys are all great. ((Oh and they never get mad when our excited puppy tinkles in the store. They clean it up right away ! )) We took our dog to the 8 week puppy class and definately got our monies worth with Melissa, the trainer. She is super sweet and very good with our dog. Well I don't think it will be here... We've been here twice once with a puppy, getting over $200 worth of stuff for his new home with a friend and the 2nd with our little guy for the collar, shampoo, treats, toy, litter box, litter ect.... everyone was pretty helpful with the puppy, when we went with our kitty in a kennel we had a hard time and people were not so helpful...so that is landing in the middle with 3 stars. On my way out of the store I saw three young employees gathered together in deep conversation too busy to assist customers. Went to PetSmart on Goldenwest and got what I needed. This place is great, majority of their employee are well educated on what they have in the store. Would recommend products that is great for you pets at home. They carry a lot of different products for any pet needs. One thing I would like them to do is remodel a bit and update the store. This is by far the worst place you can ever take your pet. The employees lies, curse and very aggressive toward customers. I wouldn't ever trust these groomers with any dog. My dog came back looking worse than when i dropped him off. Plus when they couldn't complete the service lied about my dog called me a jackass and continually used the F word. I have never seen an employee act the way they do. If they treat customers that way what are they doing to the pets who cannot talk for themselves. read more

I get my dogs groomed by Miranda all the time. They love her! She is THE BEST. Perfect haircut every time. They look forward to seeing her. When I pull into the parking lot they drag me through the store until they see her. She is so gentle and patient with them I will NEVER go to another groomer. I also take them to Keriann to get bathed in between groomings, my dogs have really sensitive skin and they are very prone to hot spots. Keriann takes extra care and since I've been going there the hot spots have disappeared. If you love your dog take them here!!!!! read more
