Always had good experiences with this Petco. Anytime I needed help looking for something or asked for recommendations, every staff member has been friendly and helpful. The reason I really wanted to write this review is for their trainer, Michelle. I signed up my puppy for puppy class so that I could learn how to understand and best train my puppy. After 5 weeks, I have seen a huge improvement and can say that Michelle is an exceptional trainer. She's also one of his favorite people. Note that there's also free puppy play on Saturdays that you can sign up for which has been a great way to socialize my puppy with other pups. He loves going there. This is a big Petco! Well stocked, organized, and has lots of fun items aside from necessities. Easy parking and friendly service. I liked that I was able to look online for what they had in stock before I stopped in. The only thing I wish was there were more people on the floor. When I asked the cashier for assistance of where to go, she rudely belittled me by rolling her eyes and asking me, "Don't you know how to look? You don't see them??? I see the nurses right there!" The only reason I'm giving the location a more negative review is because of a recent grooming visit we had that was a little lackluster. For $100, my dog came out with hair still in her eyes, a choppy body, and uneven legs. I had to go back to get the hair cut away from her eyes--something I had explicitly asked for. I've never seen my dog have such a bad haircut and am kinda aghast, honestly! It looks like only parts of her body were cut and others weren't. Super expensive and truly a hilariously bad haircut. We wanted a trim and for her to get a sanitary cut, and they quite literally shaved my dog, except for her head and tail when I picked her up I actually was dying laughing because I had never seen such a horrible haircut in my life. Daniel is amazing! I purchased a gorgeous betta before I got the nitrogen cycle going. Everyday I would come home praying that Bailey betta was still alive in that tiny cup. I rushed into Petco 10 minutes before it closed. So neurotic that I nearly bought most of the items that were on the shelf. Daniel patiently explained to me what I needed to do so Bailey would make it. This guy is incredibly knowledgeable. He knows his fish stuff. This place is absolutely filthy. We went in to browse and noticed at the entrance there are dog pee and poop stains everywhere. From the potted plants to the walls to the door, all soiled with dog filth. We thought, ok it's just the outside, it's cool. Went inside, IMMEDIATELY noticed dog poop smears just about every other step. So we walked around the stains and started noticing random fluid puddles on the ground every so often, which looked like dog pee. Then the absolute worst thing happened. The lady walking in front of us had a dog on the leash. Cool. But the dog started dropping a trail...A TRAIL...of poop right in front of us and the lady paid it no mind. I spoke up and pointed out the poop, and she must've felt "bad" and went to clean it up. But still left the trail of poop stains. Then we find out that that lady actually WORKED at the Petco! So we were disgusted and headed for the exit, tiptoeing around more fresh stains and a fresh puddle of Gatorade colored dog pee. The best part? We went in at 10a, right when they opened, and we ended up leaving at 10:05a, meaning they didn't bother mopping/cleaning the floors before opening. So all that filth just accumulates and no one ever cleans it. Oh and I forgot about the stack of pillows on display for sale that's drenched in dog pee. Place is gross. Would not recommend. I wish I could give them zero stars. We have been taking our dog to various Petco grooming centers for years, but our recent experience at Culver Irvine was awful. The staff behaved aggressively towards our dog right from the moment we handed her over. They charged us for a full grooming package, which was supposed to include anal gland expression, but they didn't perform this service and didn't inform us about it. When I asked about it, they claimed that our dog didn't allow them to do it and tried to bite them. This is impossible because she's used to having this done monthly, and we've never encountered similar issues at other Petco groomers or our veterinarian's office. After reading other reviews, it appears that this might be a tactic they use to skip their responsibilities and return pets to their owners sooner to accommodate more clients. This is ridiculous and unacceptable behavior for a professional grooming service. read more

Please hire better or more qualified staffs including the manager to maintain the business. Things there are so dusty, animals weren't taken care of (I've bought fishes before they all died/sick and spread it around the tank), staffs don't seem to care about customers and be a know it all. We first met her when my boyfriend and I brought out husky pup to get his nails cut for the first time last year in June and she made the process so quick and easy! Our pup hated having his nails cut so I warned her beforehand he may be difficult but she made it look so easy! He didn't even try to fight her haha. After that, we have taken him to get groomed twice so far and only ask for Jerri. She's always ready for us when we get there and does a great job at going over what will be done. Our pup is very social so he goes with her no problem lol. She's so quick too! Both times he's been done after about 45 minutes-an hour. read more

She answered all my questions and helped me make a decision that I'm happy with. My complaints would be that the display kennels are bolted down on a high shelf so you really can't see what you're actually buying. Also, there are no prices. I was thinking the kennel would be around $50-$60, so I was shocked at checkout to find that it was $120. So make sure you ask about prices! read more

I placed my order around 1:20 and received the notification that the order has been received, but not quite ready. Because the online store said pickup could be ready within an hour, I decided to do some grocery shopping next door. Boy, what a mistake! I did arrive a bit earlier than anticipated, but when I was at the cash register inquiring about the order, the guy said it would take about 15 minutes to pack the order. That didn't seem like a long wait, so I asked, "Do I just wait here?" He says, "Yeah, wherever." I waited and waited and stood around the entrance like an idiot for a solid 20 minutes. So I thought, why don't I just walk around and see if I could grab the order myself? The prices online were way different from online, so I just thought, okay, maybe I'll check in with the guy. The guy did indeed pack some orders, but they were other orders that sat on the counter. If it's based on order hierarchy, I get that, but why tell me it will be 15 minutes if you're gonna pack other orders? I asked him again after 30 minutes of waiting and he said "your order is next, but I have to help these people in the store." Well, that took an additional 30 minutes so I continued to walk aimlessly around the store making mental note of where to find my order should I need these items again. You know, so when I need to "pick up", I could find it myself in store. Anyway, I come back to find my order on the side, but not bagged. When I walked up to him, he said my order was ready, but said that because they are short staffed, pick up orders will typically take a little longer....as he handed my order to me. I checked my items and one thing was missing. I asked him about it and he said it's out of stock, so he did cancel the item in my order. BUT LIKE, bruh...you could have saved me the feeling of impatience and frustration had you said this in the beginning. If given the option, I would have canceled the order, or picked it up at a later time when it would have been more convenient, or you know, when the order was actually ready for them to pack. So much for trying to do stop in for a quick pick up. Next time, I'll just order online and have it shipped. Not down with this process. At least they had my dog's food in stock for a reasonable price, so I guess one additional pity star for local convenience. read more

Went to buy a pet pen, based on price with advertised Save Labor Day discount. When I went to pay I asked if the coupon was good and showed him my screen. He said no, you have to use their app to get the discount. I found no mention of this, it said in store or online and there was a barcode for the coupon. He refused to give me the discount. So i paid $79.99 instead of $59.99. I told him the ad should say so, I wouldn't have bothered to drive over there on the hottest day of the year if I'd known. If I could give negative stars I would. For those unfamiliar with reptiles, this is EXTREMELY unsafe. One of the reptiles becomes dominant, and resource guards; while the other becomes submissive and will stop eating, drinking, shedding, etc. This practice is extremely dangerous not only for the snakes, but for the people who choose to purchase and support this terrible company with horrible husbandry policies. If you buy the submissive snake, you're buying a snake more than likely on its way to death- that will refuse food. And if you buy the dominant snake, you're buying a potentially extremely aggressive snake. These enclosures are also ridiculously small for just one animal, and two were crammed in there. I filed a complaint, and like always- nothing is being done. Please support local breeders/ or reputable reptile shops. Petco should not be allowed to sell reptiles EVER with how dangerous their housing and husbandry practices are. read more

I am very disappointed in the customer service in this store. I am watching a livestream on the Chicken Andy channel on YouTube. He and Andy Dick, the comedian, were treated very poorly in this store by a manager who was condescending and rude, refusing to help find a suitable habitat for their pet lizard. The manager saw them enter the store already filming their livestream, but after a few minutes followed them to the aquarium section and instead of making gentle suggestions of appropriate habitats she insulted their selections. The manager walks away for a few minutes and returns to assist Andy Dick and Chicken Andy find a terrarium for the llizard and had an extremely more helpful and friendly demeanor. It turns out in the meantime she had realized or been informed that the older man was, in fact, Andy Dick. She walked them around the story to look at a few other pets and escorted them to the register for checkout. After checkout, she was sure to take a selfie with Andy and Chicken Andy. It's funny how this woman's attitude changed entirely when she learned that an eccentric customer was actually celebrity. It's great to be a celebrity in this Petco but anyone else will be treated like complete crap. read more

The worse Petco around - you get stalked. My wife and I went into our local Petco to pick up some dog food. We called MULTIPLE times to see if they had it on stock. No one EVER answers the phone at this location. I even tried "I'm here to pick up my order" phone number. It rings 30-40 times. Nothing. We wanted to research dog food ingredients because our 4 show dogs have developed the itchies on the food they are on and we are thinking of switching back to Acana or Royal Canin. As we were discussing the food, we noticed a worker staring at us from a distance. We were like, um ok that was weird. So we continued comparing ingredients and finished shopping. We checked out and asked the cashier if she had any advice on food allergies. When we left, the worker staring at us was by the door, still staring. I starred back as we left. When we got in our SUV and drove past the store, she was obviously FILMING us as we drove past. I was like "what the...". So I parked the car and went back in and asked her why she was filming me (note: I was filming this interaction). She claimed she was NOT filing me, but then asked "why were you doing something that you should have been filmed for?" Excuse me?!? This is inexcusably rude behavior from ANY employee of a store. I told her I am very protective of my image and if she was recording me, she needed to delete it now. She again denied filming. Yeah ok. You know how someone pans with your movements when they record? That's what she did. I asked her name (Star supposedly). and started to leave. As I did, she said "and you're filing me". I said "yes I am. I am protecting myself from your actions" Out in the parking lot, I saw the plaza security and spoke with them about the incident. They informed me the manager had an issue the week before where a customer was confrontational and threw stuff at her. The police and paramedics were called. I can see why a customer would be upset with her if this is how they were treated. Imagine being treated like this when you are happily getting something for your beloved pet. That's the LAST TIME I swing by this local Petco for food for my pets. Online is much easier anyway. I don't even want the costume we bought because it comes with negative feelings. I'm calling corporate ... I'm not comfortable with some crazy person having my image. Who knows what she will do with it. read more

I'm writing this review based on my experience in the hamster section of the store on August 3rd. I wish I could give a zero if I could. 1) the hamsters there were living in a horrible condition. The robo hamsters were squeezed into such a small section. 2/3 robo hamsters were having repetitive behaviors where they pacing back and forth in the cage nonstop. I'm concerning that they have neurological condition. Definitely no a good place to get healthy hamster if you wish in the future. 2) All the Syrians and GP are so young and skinny in the store. Seems like they get them right after mine not the after birth to the store. Many looks weak and tired. I shared my experience with my friends who also have hamsters later that day. They went check out the hamsters and found out more horrible situations. They noticed in one cage the robo hamsters were put in with a Campbell. They were fighting and biting each other nonstop. Things with hamsters that you can't put different kinds of hamsters in the same cage because they can't share space with others. My friend contact the store staff and they say like they don't have the key to open the cage as an excuse. My friend stayed there like an hour but the problem were solved at all. In conclusion, if you want healthy happy hamster for a pet, don't come to this store. If you want to view the newest tragedy in hamster world. Come on in! read more

I came in @ 9:40 a.m today 5/16/24 to pick up some pet supplies. Upon reaching the register, there was no cashier. I waited a few minutes, looked around, didn't see anyone. Another customer told me the cashier was outside. I thought maybe she was helping a customer but nope, she was on the phone, on company time arguing with someone. I walked to the door and waved at her and whispered, "can you check me out?" She put up her finger and told me to wait. No problem. I went back to the counter and waited, she finally walked in and went behind the register as if she was going to help me. I put the items on the counter and then she looked dead at me and yelled at me. She said "IM ON THE PHONE" All I did was put items on the counter, I didn't say a word to her. I was willing to check out quietly so she could finish her personal phone call. She never assisted me, she walked off and yelled across the store demanding that someone take over her register because she was on an important phone call. Whomever she yelled to told her she was busy. She went back outside to talk on the phone without making sure I was being helped. I usually shop at petsmart and not once I've had a negative experience. The staff members in all different locations have all been extremely helpful. However I've been to Petco 3x in the past 3 years for specific emergency items that petsmart didn't carry and not once the staff were helpful or pleasant. Not sure why this location is still open! The shelves are always empty and out of stock, staff members are all rude and not helpful. I approached the manager as she was walking and simply said Good morning and instead of responding " Good morning how can I help you? " and if she was busy all she could've done is to say GM and mention I'll be right with you! But instead she ignores and passes me.
