So I just got a dog. Well, the wife got a dog. I didn't have much say in the matter. But what's important is that now I'm stuck walking him and have dedicated my free time in training him. Luckily for me we have this Petco like 2 miles away from home. The store itself is fairly big with tons of dog treats, training tools, dog food and toys. I was able to pick up a bully stick for the dog, a few kong plushies, puppy poop bags for his walk, a leash, a harness, food and water bowl, a dog clicker for training, treats, dog food and even peanut butter spread for his toys. Needless to say, whatever your canine needs are this place can meet them. He's still too young but there are grooming services offered here. Not bad. The employees have always greeted me and been very professional during my visits. And with the whole pandemic thing we've got going they've heightened their cleaning procedures and disinfect their conveyor belts after every guest. Which doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks! I'll be back. I'm sure. This puppy goes through toys and treats faster than I'd like. So keep those shelves stocked for my next visit. Which I'm sure will be soon. read more

Let me start off by saying that Rebecca and Megan are the worst managers I've ever encountered, Rebecca has an extremely horrible attitude and both are so unprofessional that they give such a bad image of this company. Purchased 2 Conures here. Took them home and one died days after. Came to find out one of the conures they sold me was extremely underweight for his age a clear sign of illness in birds. I bought two because they told me the other one needed a buddy and without his buddy he would just be devastated. I return the dead one and I asked If they could help me get a buddy for the other one because he is very sad and non stop screeching all day . They said they can't and that he doesn't really need a buddy. Uummm what??? Isn't this the reason why they sold me two??? But now that they have to order a new one and replace the dead one (making them loose money) now the other one doesn't need a buddy. Rebecca the one that addressed herself as the "manager" was very rude. Constantly making me feel like if I'm lying to her about all this. I clearly told her. I have records of all this. This bird was sick. She then told me she was not the actual manager that there is someone else named Megan and she is the actual manager of the store. She passed on all the information and said she would give me a call. Never got a call not even out of courtesy. Megan never showed her face to deal with this situation, which makes me think, why would they hire such incompetent people. I was very patient and never ever yelled or made a scene or any of that sort and yet Rebeccas response to my concerns was of annoyance,rudeness, disrespect and no help. Now I'm stuck with a very sad conure that is screeching to this day. And because of them worried about loosing a couple dollars they were unable to help even though they were the ones that sold me a sick conure. My eight-year-old dog has been getting groomed, her whole life, but every time I take her to this location autumn tells me two hours after dropping her off that she can't groom her. We took our dog to petsmart on lake mead in henderson because we moved. & they wouldn't even take scooter due to their lack of knowledge on how to handle dogs. This store has low stock on all the essential items needed for stocking up for your new dog. They had such slim pickings on leashes, collars, and appropriate sized crates for small dogs. I happened to adopt a dog that was being shown at the store and the dog rescue required that the dog have a collar and leash before the dog can leave with you. If I was in my right mind, I would have walked across the parking lot and purchased those items, or all necessary items at Walmart. Petco had approximately two collar styles to choose from that fit tiny dogs and I believe 2-3 leash colors in stock that are appropriately sized for that size collar. Prices are extremely high, and there is no staff to help you on the floor to provide you with guidance on the things you'd need for home. So, why two stars? Because the cashier was kind and friendly. read more

This is for Vetco! I have taken my pet to there multiple times. Had great experience! Recently, in May, my dog involved in a fight. Took her in for clean up and suture. Paid almost $1200. The vet told us to come back for suture removal. Returned on time. I was like, okay - everything should be okay now. One month later, I found a missed suture on my dog forehead! Took her in again and questioned the clinic why they missed and can we remove it now? They tried and could not remove it at all. Then told me they have used dissolvable suture. Will be gone in 2-3 months. ..... I was like - if you have used dissolvable suture, why you asked me come back for removal ?? They only can apologize. Today 8/22, I found another missed suture on my dog's body!!! They only sutured my dog 6 times . And now they have already forgotten to remove 2! Oh man. As I am a reptile lover, I have no problem buying a reptile that is in need of a home. I stop by here to see what they had when I noticed they still had the same panther chameleon that they had for the past couple months. It is still at a high price, but yet the chameleon is stressed out, also not in the proper set up, which is really abuse to chameleon which needs the proper set up to hide and feel comfortable. It has been sitting in it take for three months without the right proper set up and they're wanting people to pay full price for a sick Reptile, being affected the longer it stays in the tank. The other Reptile I seen that they had not in the proper set up is a baby Uromastyx which is another overprice lizard that they are not taken care of properly. It was sad because I was willing to buy the reptiles from them so that they could go to a happy home and not have to stay in those small tanks with the incorrect set up the manager Dennis didn't care. I said it was policy, and that he wouldn't change the price to see the animals go home and get the proper care that they need. If this is policy for Petco to not have the proper set up in the proper care for the reptiles is animal cruelty, to be sending pets here just to be waiting here until they die because their over priced and get sick because they're not in a proper environment. Aside from small, independent stores- PETCO is my go-to pet store. They have reasonable prices and a knowledgeable staff. I also love that they help rescue & shelter pets. They also have environmentally responsible toys- like ones made from recycled plastic bottles. And they have bulk cat litter that you can refill the containers later, saving money and plastic. They also sell shoes, toys, apparel and other clothing to raise money for their Petco charities. Watched one of their trainers today. He was very professional and patient, using positive reinforcement and rewards to teach the dog and owner to do a sit/stay. read more

Brought dogs in for grooming today and was told that we were called to reschedule. This already happened on monday to have an appointment today. Was told we were called again which was a lie as there was no voicemail or phone log. Telling the person working the counter, she was not even apologetic just kind of said sorry. She just kept blaming short staff instead of trying to solve the issue with us other than we will call you as soon as the stylist is back. This is not the first time we have had to reschedule or brought the dogs there and had to take them back. These dogs deserve better and now I wonder how they are treated after we leave. I saw a ZenCone advertised online from PetCo that I wanted for my puppies PostOp so I went to the store to purchase. There was a very nice and helpful customer service rep that greeted and helped me find the product. The store was small but well stocked. Lots of parking and easy to find location. They had a large selection of winter wear for dogs. Prices were a little high but joining discount club was simple. I would shop again and I am very pleased with the ZenCone, as the one the vet provided was very uncomfortable looking, so this cone is an excellent alternative. It's soft, connects easily to collar and isn't as restrictive as vet cone. Very happy with store experience. Only 4 stars because the store is small and did not have a lot of toys and treats vs other stores. read more

A Review for Vetco at this Location: Our 18 year old cat had spent a Saturday night at the Animal Emergency Center and needed to be transferred to another vet on Sunday. Our regular vet is not open on Sundays. The Vetco had 2pm appointment so we booked it. Our cat was discharged from the ER at 9am and we brought him directly to Vetco. We had never been to this Vetco office before and we were arriving much earlier than our appointment time. Everyone welcomed us with open arms and gave us such great, fast, caring and personal service. It meant so much, especially after the night we, and our cat, had at the ER. Dr. Van Der Walt is intelligent and very kind. It was a rough situation. The personal service she gave us and our cat was amazing. Our cat spent the day at the vet and the Dr. and staff took great care of him. He was ready to go at the end of the day. We were pretty sure, we would have to let him go to kitty heaven in the next few days, but he did a 180 and cashed in another 9 Lives! The care and advice we got from Dr. Van Der Walt played a key role in him getting better. It's been almost 3 months and our sweet old boy is still doing great. After being a frequent customer/petpal rewards member @ this Petco location for seven years, today is the last! Each month I purchase dog, cat, fish & tortoise food along with all my supplies from Petco. Ive never needed customer service as I typically get my needed supplies and leave the store, until today. A few days ago I purchased 3 fish, all which died that same evening. The clerk Lillian reminded me "you can get a replacement if the fish die within 30days". Ive never had a fish die suddenly nor have I ever taken a fish back in all of my 52 years. Today, I drive across town to my Petco and was treated like a criminal by the manager Dennis. I had my receipt plus my dead fish and he wanted nothing to do with me- without a water sample I can't help you! He wasn't even friendly. He was so rude when I explained how long I've shopped at this store, I asked him to look up my petpal history to see that I've never returned ANYTHING! He laughed at me! I then told him I wouldn't be back and would shop elsewhere....He said that's good This is your a Manager Petco - Fairwell! Yeah most of these chain locations pretty much fall in the same Petco experience and it's always okay for emergency purchases, but it's never satisfactory. The enployees always seem to be airheaded. Set up an appointment, "oops cuz it wasn't in the system for grooming or nails." Question on inventory or items in stock? Many "professionals" will have it in on the phone, but sell it right before ya get there or never had it at all. Problem with particular employees with frequent mishaps or rudeness to you and a guest shopper, they never know the names or what the mistake possibly coulda been or ever think it could be their fault. I recommend you do a lot of research and take your time to be very thorough when setting appointments for the grooming, general questions, or operation involving anything relating to you, the customer. I wouldn't ever shop here and haven't in years. Trying to decide whether or not I just had many poor experiences by chance or if it were some employees and they are no longer there. It's just Petco and the chain formula in hiring people to make them money that usually don't care about work ethic, the pay, or animals. There are a few good folk that do a job well done. But that's one person every now and then. A business this large with so many locations seems to fail in most cases involving animal care and product. read more

I guess every Petco is generally the same: They have everything I need, but they need more cashiers when the store is busy. I have no problem with the employees. Everyone who has helped me so far has been very nice. I just don't understand why they can't have two cash registers open when there is a long line of 5+ customers waiting to pay and leave. Frustrating!! Especially when you get stuck waiting in back of people who did not carefully read their coupons and try to argue with the employees that they want a discount. OR people who just love to talk and have no respect for the other customers who have been patiently waiting! Another thing that annoyed me was back in the summer when they were having a pet adoption weekend. We all know how hot it gets here in Vegas during the summer. They had dogs in cages OUTSIDE of the store! It had to be 100+ degrees out there, are they crazy?!?! We felt so sad for those dogs, why make them suffer? I'm not sure if I was being recorded for a hidden camera show or if Moe from the Aquatic Dept was serious when he approached my family in the check out line saying we could "complete our purchase today, but would no longer be welcome in the store" which he said was because of "colored people". Context? There was none. We were simply told we couldn't come back because of "colored people"...mind you, I'm with my mixed race children, who were shaking and scared, confused as to why Aquaman was following us and talking about "colored people" when we had just finished browsing the COLORFUL Beta fish. We had fish tanks, decor, 3 fish and 2 children all with armfuls of supplies to purchase, totaling well over $250. We left with my 9 year old son, crying because Moe was following us around the store after giving a talk to my 9 year old about a .22 cent feeder goldfish needing a 40-gallon tank. Now, if Moe was working an undercover PETA operation, this amount of demoralizing my children would make sense. But we were simply filling a starter fish tank for my son, after he spent weeks planning how to prepare his tank (by using goldfish to build the tank and prepare the environment). When my partner approached the manager, Justin, Moe was no where to be found and no apologies for terrorizing my children were attempted. If you have children, stay clear away from this pet store. We drove 2 miles down the road and received apologies from PetSmart, who picked up the pieces and gave my son a pick of the feeder goldfish, which are now happily swimming in his desktop tank, with no 20 minute goldfish-university on what would otherwise become turtle food. I rarely write reviews, but I am appalled this person is working in a venue where he can continue to terrorize children, let alone potential customers. read more

We wont ever have our dogs groomed at this location again. They thought they knew more about our pets (one in particular) based on having her for very little time. She has an medical issue with her back legs, which we disclosed and is in her profile, but per her neurologist and physical therapist, we don't use assistive devices. She needs to use her legs. When they brought her out they tried wrapping a towel around her waist and carrying her back legs, without asking us or letting us know they thought she was having an issue. When I saw them doing this to her, I was waving and yelling for them to stop, because she was confused and scared, because we have never used assistive devices with her. We take extra time, we let her lean on us so she can stabilize herself, all per vet recommendation based on her condition. When we dropped her off, the woman at the desk asked, in a snarky tone, asked if this was the first time she has been groomed, even after looking at her profile in their system. Knowing her age and seeing her profile, why in the world would we have never had her groomed before? The most rude thing. Icing on the cake was, for our other dog, they tried to charge us for "shaving.... Etc..." (Can't remember what the whole thing was) but a service our dog was not provided, saying it was because they had to have extra help trimming his nails?!? If that's a real charge, then why not have that in the system? We've been going to petco for years (6+ years, between several states) for grooming services and have never been charged an extra fee because our dog doesn't like having his nails trimmed. read more

We got a bad bag of very greasy and nearly expired food and they would not exchange it, even though Royal Canin said we must've run into a poorly run store. So, ROYAL CANIN sent me a new bag of food as they are $60. The store at Sahara and Hualapai deserves 10 stars and it's worth the few mile drive to be treated with respect and they have a customer for life. read more

Took my baby chihuahua to the vet there yesterday. She had very long nails which I was apprehensive to cut because they are black and I didn't know how far to trim them. One had also split and caught a blanket which would not release. They took care of her right away. Nails are cut and blanket piece removed. Very thorough and caring. Will go back. read more

The negative stars are for the employees. I love bringing my pet to Petco and have for about 8 years now. I've extended my pet parenting to aquatic life and a cat (that I need to purchase items for). This location is usually well stocked and organized. I like the fact that it's not a "super store" because those give me anxieties. So again the negative points... The employees!! Only about 1/2 of them are properly trained and most are not friendly -- just there. The sale signs are 90% wrong (i.e. they keep sale signs up that are expired -- sometimes by weeks!). The registers are old (not the employees fault) so they don't automatically ring up proper discounts; you always have to be sure you receive sales prices. Not to mention sometimes it's hard to find an employee and 80% of the time, I feel as though I've bothered them. The managers are friendly enough but I need to get the names because only about 5 employees total are worth a check from payroll. The grooming department is always nice and friendly. Not to mention, they always find a way to fit my dog in for nail trim without appointments that I'm very appreciative for. read more

I like that they have many options for pets as a whole. They have pretty much whatever you need. Sometimes you can catch a sale which brings down the ticket a bit other times I'll find the small bags of ferret food for example higher than the large bag. Staff is somewhat helpful but usually nowhere to be found as they seem to be occupied doing other things so they are like short of staff at times. read more

From the manager with the chick w the dreads to the rest of the staff they seem over worked or hating their jobs because it reflects on their customer service. Then to over hear them talking about how they wouldn't offer price match and laughing about it w other employees. Plus i bought fish from Petco at another location 3 days ago and it died but i was in the area running errands and hoping they had stock for what i was looking for and they didn't... surprise surprise... I used to come here a lot but now they have just gone down the hill. I went here for some betta supplies and they had an army of poor betta fish all dead floating in their bowls in the fish area. They were probably disposing them because they died but it's really not a pretty sight. I came in today. It was really busy but they had a lot of workers, mostly tied up with guests. A lady with bright teal hair helped me find a new brand of food and some treats for my dog Winston. She was very pleasant. But toward the end of my trip I started having second thoughts on my dog food choice because we had discussed a few options earlier. The girl who helped me from before was working in grooming. so I found another worker. I don't know her name either, sorry. This lady looked like an old crack head basically. Shoulder length brown hair, very thin. She recognized me and that I was asking for help, her cell phone rang and she picks up the call while I'm in mid sentence. She proceeded to text while I'm trying to talk to her and then she tells me that I need to find someone else because she's busy helping someone else very rudely, and storms off...... Luckily I was able to find a gentleman that was able to answer my questions and the people at the registers were very friendly. I just think people like that woman shouldn't be working in retail if they treat the guests like that. She could of been polite at the very least and had a coworker help me. As a customer to monster fish or predatory fish, it is nice to know that the aquatics lead personnel Grant is the man and can help you get whatever you need to get your tank up and running. Parking is always open right outside without any problems. Would've been a 5 star but it's a hit or miss if you're looking for a certain type of product and they're out of stock at the moment. This review is for their grooming services: I have a 8 month old spaniel puppy, this was his second grooming experience. One of the groomers( not the person grooming him) called me stating I needed to go pick him up due to them not being able to groom him. I was questioning the reason why and she said it's due to him moving too much and being to much to handle. She stated that he was moving too much and that required another person to hold him down. When I went to pick him up they were still grooming him and he looked perfectly fine, total opposite of what the lady was telling me over the phone. She said due to his behavior he was no longer welcomed to get groomed. I asked if he was being aggressive or if she can clarify the behavior and she made it seem like he was wild when I personally was seeing other wise. I believe I was the last appointment of the day, if they didn't want to groom pets at the end of the day they should say so and call and cancel instead of banning my pup from getting groomed. read more

Had a small issue in the store. I almost gave a 2 to 3 star review. I almost didn't call. I'm glad I did. I called and spoke Courtney. She was polite and very meticulous. She addressed my concerns and got back to me in a timely manner. Her and Keith completely fixed the issue. I went into the store and even offered Keith $20 and asked if I could buy him lunch. He refused and just asked that I give Petco another try. With employees like these 2, I am more likely to return than prior to the issue I had.
