So this is the second time I've walked into the store with a mission period. The first time to find a pair of toenail clippers for my new puppy which I ended up buying at around $8. Later that day I found myself in a Walmart and the same exact nail clippers were half the price. I had also bought some snacks for him at around $5 a bag when I found the same exact ones at Walmart for again half the price. Next time I walked in to find a black leash, a standard black leash for small breed dogs. There was not one single black leash in the store unless your dog was the size of the wooly mammoth. The prices are outrageous and the selection is horrible. You're better off going to Walmart read more

This is my third time at this Petco on rainbow for grooming. The first time I had no issues. The second I scheduled an appointment for before the stores open. I arrived on time and knocked on the glass as the lady I scheduled with instructed. I got the attention of two employees who simply ignored me. It wasn't until 10 minutes later that another employee saw me and let me in. At this point we are in the grooming room (15 min past my appointment time) and the woman will not stop blabbing about her pet. After some less than subtle hints that I was ready to leave my dog, the woman continued to talk. I was late to where I was going at no fault of my own and I was angry. I was held up 30 minutes unnecessarily. When it came time to pick up my dog, I did not tip the woman because she had annoyed me so much at drop off. The next day she personally called me to ask if I was satisfied with my service, I thought this was weird and prompted by her lack of tip. On to the third visit. I had an easy drop off. Told the man I wanted my dog shaved all over, short as possible. I came back and my dog had a fluffy face and tail. Now I have to go back sooner to get her shaved because her face hair is so long but if she was all shaved as I requested we would not have to come so soon. The stylist is wasting me money. I am upset and will never be coming back here. Also they set up appointments automatically after a month of your last visit without you picking a date, then later they call to confirm the appointment you didn't make. It is so annoying. read more

I went in there today to get a couple fish for my son's new tank. Well its a 3 gallon tank nothing too big. I picked out some tiny fish that I KNOW will be ok for the size of the tank. Both of the guys kept trying to tell me more than two fish would be too many. These guys are complete imbeciles. The one with the new york accent was a jerk from the start. Talking trash about how i dont know what im doing. I ended up telling them im spending a good amount of money hete to make a starter tank for my 4 year old. One guy tells me, technically im not supposed to sell these fish for a tank that size. "Wtf"! I told him he can just put the fish back that ill go elsewhere. I honestly think they were trying to get me to buy a large tank. Yeah, no not for a 4 year old... I will not return!!! read more

I love love love this location. There is a Petco right around the corner from my house, but I still make the drive to this location ONLY. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. No one seems bothered by my questions, and they are always willing to go above and beyond to help me. I bring my spoiled brat of a Pomeranian in for grooming. Even when she nips and yaps the whole time, all the groomers seem to love her. If they don't, they are great actors! I feel welcome every time. All the employees that I come across always smile and make eye contact. They ask if I need help without seeming overbearing. There is always someone on the sales floor ready and willing to help and answer questions. I gave them four stars instead of five only because the parking lot is a little tight and hard to get in and out of, and sometimes the cashier is alone and needs some extra help. Those complaints are small and would not keep me from driving across town just to visit this location! Thank you Petco, and Princess thanks you too!! read more

I have been shopping at the tropical fish section in this location & many others & have noticed so much neglect in these pet stores particularly in the fish section & I'm finally writing a damn review as I'm sick to my stomach. I've been coming to this particular location for nearly a year now & the only time I've witnessed it actually well maintained was when Grant, Lillian, & 1 other gentleman who's name I can't remember were assigned to work there. Every time I shop for fish lately I see a lot of dead fish, fish getting eaten alive, &/or fish placed with other fish that aren't compatible. I believe the workers need to get paid way more for what they do so that they can actually do their job in these pets stores. I was just in the store & the so called "fish specialist" workIng was more interested in his phone than saving the poor fish being eaten alive in front of us in several different tanks. I get that they're "just fish", & I get that these pet stores get too many of them, but to watch such beautiful living creatures fighting for their lives while chunks are being removed off of their poor little bodies, makes for a traumatising shopping experience & definitely less business for them. As I was shopping on February 5, 2022, at the Spring Mountain and Rainbow location, I over heard two employees talking about some fish. Crystal who I later found out was the assistant manager, referred to the fish as "just fish". This stood out and was a little disturbing. She then turned to me to ask if I needed help. I mentioned to her that I had overheard them speaking about some fish and how she had referred to them as "just fish". She immediately became defensive and said, "well they are just fish". I said, "they are living beings" And once again she said "yes but they are just fish" I told her she was horrible and walked away. She then followed me to the register and continued to justify her comment about them being "just fish". She explained they were sick, and it wasn't their fault. I then said that I understood animals die in their care and suggested she choose her words wisely, as I am a customer and had overheard their conversation. She once again said "they are just fish". She clearly did not care about how her comment about the fish came across and at no time did she apologize for crass comment. I told her I was going to report her to her manager and she said, "go ahead". My concern is this is an individual who works at a pet store and clearly has no heart. My concern are for the animals who are in her care. Again, I realize animals die, but to have such a nonchalant attitude about living beings is very very disturbing. read more

Being a loyal dog owner what is not to love about Petco. They have tons of items for my furry children. We do enjoy spoiling are furry children so a trip to Petco's means some tasty treats and a squeaky toy are in order for our boy and girl. They have a good selection of treats but I have to be honest we are picky about what we give our furry children. Only high protein Made in USA are what we will buy for them. Their prices are not bad but a sale on treats is well worth the trip. They offer online deals with in store pick up which is better than their in store offers. I usually buy from their online sales and pick up locally. They have a good selction of dog clothes which in the winter we like to dress up our dogs. They fuss at first but when it is cold they do enjoy having the extra warmth the clothes provide. Petco always seems to have a good deal on clothes so look for the specials. They have a good selection of fish to include salt and fresh. I used to be a fish enthusiast but it was time consuming and can get pretty expensive if you make a mistake. I always stroll through the fish section to take in all the cool fish they have. Who knows I may get a tank soon. I miss having a fish tank as they are pretty cool. The gentleman running the fish section was so helpful and shared my enthusiasm for fish. He showed me all the cool fish and even found a unique one I had been looking for that I used to have. Petco is a fun place to bring your furry friends along to take in the great selection of items to make their life so much better. I always enjoy a trip to Petco and I know our boy and girl so too. read more

Came and asked to return an unused dog crate. The lady who was serving the "only" other customer nicely told us to wait for 2-3 minutes. So we stayed outside and did not get into the paying line. When she was done with the "only" customer. There were other customers came and got lines. We showed our receipt to get the reimbursement. Suddenly she flipped her face and told us that she would not be able to serve us because we did not get line. OK, we got line "we should get line if have been told". DO NOT TREAT US AND PRETEND TO MAKE US LOOK BAD AS THE ONE CUT INTO THE LINE. Will not buy anything from Petco from now on. read more

I just moved to the area not long ago and visited this Petco location for the first time about a week ago.(Nov. 20th 2017). I bought a collar for my dog and a few dog treats. No complaints. However, I returned a few days later to purchase shampoo for my Dog. When I got home I noticed the "use by" date on the product was 05/2017. Today (November 27th, 2017) I took the product back to the store to get a refund; I was told they couldn't give me my money back without a receipt. Then after I asked to speak to a manager, the manager (who never came out the back) instructed another employee to inform me that I could just switch the product out. Mind you, all of the other bottles also were on shelfs being sold with expired "use by" dates. I've attached pics of the product, and the other single product they had on the shelf that was also expired (04/2017). A month or so I can understand, but but 6 or months past expiration and it's still on shelfs is completely ridiculous. If I could rate a zero, I would. First off, how can a 'manager' lecture and ridicule a child over goldfish, is beyond me. Unprofessional and overall a horrible way to treat any human being let alone a child. There is no justifying the fact that she tried to say that we needed a 40 gallon tank on top of all the other things she was trying to sell. But, when I try to call and complain about the horrible treatment and sales tactics, oh ho ho, it was in fact the 'manager' who claimed "Hmm, That's not how that happened" At my last nerve, I said "How can someone as a manager, belittle a child all for the sake of a poor sales tactic, is beyond me and extremely unprofessional" not wanting to hear her snide voice and poor excuses any further. I would not go to this petco. I will never go to this petco again. I'd say that if you must venture inside that you not under go the fish department managers 'interrogation' and 'horrible sales tactics' and just save yourself and go somewhere else. ANYWHERE else! Lesson learned and we will not be back. So, Thank you PetCo for hiring and training horrible managers that interrogate and belittle customers and their children (If you can't tell my heavy sarcasm then I'm at a complete loss). read more

Ugh...my first time stepping into a Petco, and immediately hoping that it would be my last, but they are the only ones that have the kitty litter I was looking for. Maybe I will change products then... There were 2 customers ahead of me in line, both with their 4-legged friends in hand. Cashier, nor supervisor, paid no attention to the rest of us in line, only the 4-legged friend of the first customer, who had already completed her purchase. Really. I am all for welcoming and loving our pets, but at the expense of customer service? Sheesh! So, then after an extra 2 minutes of cuddling and petting the first "customer," the next customer was already short-tempered. When she asked about some I.D. Tag machine being out of order, the supervisor went on and added "There's a HUGE 'Out of Order' sign on the machine, and it's not working." Duhhh! Thanks for the added explanation! I'm sure that's what the customer ahead of me was thinking. Anyway, she bolted out the door faster than the supervisor could continue on with her suggestions of waiting until it gets fixed. Haha! So, now comes my turn at the register, but of course, I have to wait to be acknowledged, or even turned to my direction, because the cashier and supervisor were still busy with their conversation of sarcasm and criticism of the previous customer. Wow! Talk about crass! You'd expect to find more of that behavior from customers in an establishment rather than employees In Front Of Customers! LOL! To be brief, absolutely no customer service! I mean, seriously, it's as if they hire right off the streets and dump them in front of a cash register in hopes that money will pour in here. It wasn't really lack of customer service; it was just lack of manners, or etiquette really. Luckily, I knew and found what I needed and was out there in no time. SECOND REVIEW....TRIED GIVING THEM ANOTHER CHANCE...Made an appointment one week in advance for my dog to be groomed. Called in the morning to ask about shot records the day of her appointment (if they need a paper slip or if i can email them) they then tell me they dont have my dog in the system. I then thought maybe i made it for petsmart, went through my phone records and shows i spoke with someone on June 30th at 421 pm for 4pm for this location. The manager of the grooming department had no care at all, and told me it would be another week before they could get me in. So you mess up and i have to wait another week? I then asked to speak to the store manager and i was hung up on..called back and waited another 4min on the phone to ask for a manager. Manager on duty then tells me they are short staffed in the grooming department and he'll figure out what happened and call back. Very disappointed. I guess this is why i never go to corporate owned pet shops, shame on me for giving them a try Also i find it very rude that the customer service reps are only responding to the good reviews. horrible.. read more

I can honestly say every experience I have had at my go to Petco has been pleasant. Staff is always incredibly friendly nice and helpful. When I go in I almost always have my two toy Chihuahuas with me and everyone is super nice to them. I've used their groomers a few times and have always had really good experiences. I have gone in for a quick nail trim and been in and out in 15 minutes which is always great. I have also dropped my pups off early for full service grooming and have always been able to get them back quickly. Less than 2 hours. Very convenient and helpful location. read more

I love coming to this petco everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. If you want to buy fish and live plants this is the best store to do so, they have a huge selection on fresh and saltwater fish as well as live plants and corals. Tony is the best!!! he really cares about you and the well being of your fish he always keeps the tanks clean and the fish healthy. I ended up having to House a cute little parakeet and I've never known anything about birds so I obviously needed help. I just happen to stop by on my way home because this was the closest. I am so happy i went in there. Not only did i get everything i need, but i had a very knowledgeable helper, Vicki. She's an absolute sweetheart. From the minute i walked in she interested as to what was in my box and how she could help. I feel as if most people will try to sell more stuff than what is actually needed, but she didn't! I told her the supplies i had already and she walked with me down the aisle and recommended a cage, which i chose that one. She then went above and beyond my expectations she offered to put together my cage, at the store for me and put the bird in the cage. She helped me figure out its gender. My husband and I visited the store last night and although we went in for cat food we ended up purchasing a veiled chameleon and everything to build it a new home! The customer service was amazing!!! Tony was very knowledgeable! My husband and I have owned lizards for years and usually when we go to these stores the associates do not know what they're talking about and just want us to spend money! Tony actually cares about the pets and I love that! He gave us his opinions and we went with what he thought was best! We then found out he was off for the night yet he still stayed around and answered our questions! We appreciated that! Next came Kenya who was also amazing!! I told her how great Tony was and she agreed and talked so good about him--I loved that! She also knew what she was talking about when it came to the lizzies! She educated me on the use of foggers and we will be purchasing that next pay check and this is the store I will go to for now on even though there is a petco around the corner from our house! Not the best pet store in the area but they give good coupons.We complained on several occasions on the horrid reptile keeping and care and they seem to have gotten a handle on that finally. I'm just gonna start off by saying that Jay is the worst employee with the worst attitude ever. We bought a beta last week and it jumped out of the tank and died, so we went to return it. Once we told Jay it jumped out, (note that she has absolutely NO clue on how or what the situation was to the fish jumping out) she INSTANTLY belittled us and made us feel like garbage and basically told us we were stupid. We were changing the water on the tank, took the lid off so we could do it, turned our back for a second and the fish jumped out. This fish was for our kid who is DISTRAUGHT that his first fish died and we feel terrible about it, and here Jay is making us feel more like garbage. This isn't our first fish. We have 20+ fish all over the house and have been taking care of fish for years. We're not stupid. It was an honest mistake and she told us "well why didn't you have a lid on it?" And also said "we can do the refund this time even though it isn't our fault your fish died. But if you get another will you just put a lid on the tank". Not once did we blame the fish dying on them. SHE HAS NO IDEA ON WHY IT HAPPENED. YOU DONT BELITTLE YOUR CUSTOMERS AND MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE GARBAGE. She is a terrible human being with horrible people skills and doesn't deserve to have a job unless that attitude changes. The most unpleasant person I've ever encountered as a customer. read more

The staff was absolutely amazing. They took time to take care of my 8 month old puppy that yesterday had a horrible experience at another grooming facility. This is a great store to find any information your looking for about animals and pet products. Friendly management and people. I've been coming to this location almost every week for water testing, information about pet products and see what new fish they've got in. They have an employee (name-TONY) who is a blast to talk to! He is very helpful and has a lot of knowledge about the care of fish, plants, treatment, exc. He's my go to person at that store for anything, the reason why I keep returning for any needs or info. I absolutely love this store. I used to go to the one by my house on w Sahara and Hualapai but decided to drive to this spring mountain and rainbow location because it was closer to me so I could get there before they closed to get my turtles some food. First impression, very open and relaxed feeling. I met Angie over in Aquatics and what a sweetheart of a person she is. Let me tell you that my second return to this location was shortly after the first because I decided I like this place and the atmosphere. My second visit and every single visit through current I am acknowledged and they know exactly what I'm there for and even offer it to me sometimes but I like to walk around. I tend to only arrive there right when they are closing because I'll spend too much if there too long. Warning. Do not take your baby to train here. I have begged on many occasions to get service after they took my money. Their comment was show me a receipt. Ironically enough is that I got three sessions from the young woman before she quit, plus a coupon a month later. Hey! I paid! I would be driving there and the appointment would be rescheduled or cancelled. Or I would get there, and the girl would be late. The three times we did go there, we walked around a store and bought stuff as a training session. Look at the cameras people! Who did the training? Now my Golden is worse then ever. Then I was told that without training, he would be surrendered. The dog has never bitten a soul. He barks. Then the promises ... I want someone to call me, and my money back. I want an apology for all of your employees behaviors and empty promises just to get me out the door. Many people have my name and number. No one has given me a manager, yet some claim to be.... I went in to get some dog shampoo. A staff member directed me to a shampoo from the Lucy Pet Foundation. I gave it a try as I didn't think there was much difference between shampoos. This one is different. My dog's fur feels so soft and still smells great after almost a week. I'm impressed! I hate when my dogs get the dog smell and transfer it to my bedding. I am so happy that they still smell so fresh! I read about the foundation and even feel better about my purchase. read more
