This Petco is hit and miss and can be frustrating when you stop for a specific product and they are out of it just like today. I also informed an employee in the aquatic department about two fish that I bought here at different times that both died after a short time. I have a lot of fish and only the fish I have purchased from this store have died! I will just continue to by my maintenance items needed for our 75 gallon Aquarium however will not purchase fish ever again from this store. The staff is friendly and the store is clean and the location is close to my home so I will continue to shop here for convenience reasons. I also like that their exchange and return policy is lax because they guarantee product purchases. After we adopted our new addition, we needed to get the essentials! We stopped by this PetCo because its close to the house. We'd been here before, but not for our OWN dog, so this was exciting for me. They have a good selection, and prices are pretty good. Jack had a little accident in the store, and I explained to the girl who brought me over the cleaning supplies that we just adopted him...she came back with a HUGE coupon book! We saved a ton of money on dog food, a bowl, a leash, and a collar! The staff was pretty nice, except for the lady in the dog food section who kept trying to convince us to buy a 6 pound bag of "organic" dog food for $20, and all these "breath supplement bones" to help with bad breath. We ended up getting the dog food, but only because it was close to what he was being fed before, and we had a half off coupon. I am very upset visiting Petco, 6120 N Decatur blvd on Friday, 08/16/2019 because: The price went up to $87, it's twice more than other grooming places in Las Vegas but i drove 25 minutes and agreed to pay this price because expected to get perfect done job and happy cat. In fact what i got: they did not clean Diego's eyes and ears his neck and head were haircuted really bad, very uneven, like it was done in a rush. And after this time Diego was so stress outed that spent the rest of the day under the bed shivering. It's very frustrating, i love my cat and want him to feel maximum comfortable during this not the most pleasant for pets procedure and even agree to overpay for it and drive to the opposite side of the city but i expect to get perfectly done job and happy cat. My 1st order was promised to be delivered same day between noon and 3pm. It was delayed. Is 4pm to 9pm acceptable? Another delay. How about a different date? They are bait and switch masters and I wouldn't trust them as far as I can spit. And I was paying not only nearly double the cost of the product but almost $15 for delivery fees and tips. The review is for 3.5 stars. This is the one we go to the most, compared to the rest of the locations. Once we got a huge bottle of dried shrimp for our turtles, here, but it was a closeout (the product changed). I also really like the bulk dog treat section, close to the registers, where you choose your biscuits, but I can't remember what the cost is- very similar to the candy places- per quarter pound. Since Petsmart is our first choice, this is our second choice for pet food and pet supplies. But we manage to stop by if we are in the area. Always trying to up-sale people. I went there once to get a ball python but the the manager Rebecca won't let me take it home. I had picked out a 20 gallon because that was what I could afford at the time. I had also planned to get a 60 gallon when it got bigger. She told me that I would need a 40 gallon starting now. I told her I was going to buy it a bigger tank later on but she won't listen. She told they get full grown in 2 months so I might as well get the 40 gallon. For her information, They aren't full grown until 4 years of age. For being the reptile specialist she knew nothing about snakes. She kept auguring with me until I left. So disappointed. I had a special cat scratching post to buy that only Petco carries or I wouldn't have come here. I give the store three stars simply because they had what I wanted. Other than that, the place is small and the selection of most items is limited. While here, I bought a new hummingbird feeder. They only stock two kinds. The one I took was discounted because the top was lost. Since I don't hang my feeder (Las Vegas winds always knock them off the tree and to the ground) this was perfectly OK. This is a place to go when I need that special something for the cats that I can't get elsewhere. They have their hearts set on the 63 inch cat tube. My Best friend.... Forever loves this place! Every time we come here he just won't stop wagging his tail and wants to mark every little corner as his own. I also enjoy it too, this is the only store that I can bring my dog in with me without having to pretend I'm blind, or a celebrity. I ordered a leash off the app a day PRIOR before i picked up, they opened at 9am.. so I click the "I'm on my way, parked and here" button on the curbside app. No response, they've already opened their doors at exactly 9am so I try calling & NO one picks up the phone, then when I go inside I ask two women for help to just pick up my order and they tell me to hold on and take their time, then turn around and say we couldn't find the leash in store & they're going to work on refunding my order.. horrible customer service & they should work on getting better employees who are time efficient. read more

I always get great service in the store. It's close and convenient to me and I like it much better than PetSmart. I think I prefer it cuz it's more to the point instead of all really things they keep trying to sell me. Better for pet needs. This store is disgusting. Not clean, employees have no social skills, and they avoid working by coming up with reasons not to help you. It was like a ghost town when I went in there. You would think that would mean you could get quicker and better service, but they literally are not anywhere to be found. I waited 30 mins for anyone to even talk to me about my grooming appointment, only to find out that the groomer didn't want to groom my dog and told me she wouldn't do it. She didn't want to "ruin his hair, and that he was a puppy and too excited". Some guy from an office in the corner next to the grooming salon came out of his office looked at me and then continued to ignore me and walked off. I've been to this location a lot, and it used to be a three star place, they seem to have stepped up their game. The fish tanks look incredible! No algae visible and packed with fish! They have hard to find Kribensis, pretty Discus, and quite a few I've never seen. I wanted the Electric Rams, but I've been searching for Kribensis for years, so I stuck to it. The guy working walked me through some of the prettier ones that would do well in my tank, and had some great ideas. The rest of the store is clean, and has a bigger variety than it used to. I was checked out quickly and the friendly cashier made sure I had all I needed. The outside was clean, big enough to make it easy. They have adoptions on weekends, and a nice overhang so the pets are in the shade. I'll be returning to this location a lot more now, saw some Bettas that caught my eye and I have several rooms at home with no Betta tank. Gasp, the horror! read more

The aquarist (Tony) is one of the most knowledgable and helpful specialist I have dealt with in Las Vegas for my fish tank needs. He has always provided great information and service without the pushy salesman attitude. A fish tank and the fish are supposed to be very relaxing, but when we have numerous tanks ranging from 125 gal to small breeding tanks, it can become stressful. Having someone like Tony to give good advice, takes away the stress. If you have questions or need fish and supplies, go ask for him, The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the fish selection only gets updated once a week so the fish you want might already be sold out unles you get there soon after they restock the tanks. read more

I normally get him Weruva at the specialty natural pet food stores but sometimes I can't get there in our odd night schedule. Theres a few chunky selections here, Solid Gold, Petite and a few others I cant recall which somehow my neighborhood location doesn't have. My pugs chew like pitbulls so I get the big thick "throw" rawhides and long bullysticks here. Their fish area at this store is particularly nice of a selection and the staff is knowledgeable. It shows off in their display tanks they did around the store- a nice saltwater, a freshwater with a ton of live plants, and another fresh tank showing how to do a proper basic tank. They have live saltwater corals and plants and I dont normally see much selection of these at the other Petco. I've been wanting a fish setup and I'll probably grab a few things and advice here. I love Petco! Specifically and especially their grooming salon. This Petco is a bit far from my home (but the closest Petco) so I don't go to it for my dog's supplies but only for the salon. I wish there was a Petco nearby my home as I'd prefer to go to Petco for supplies rather than PetSmart. When I do have spare time though, I'll definitely check out the store and update my review on that. The staff for their grooming salon are wonderful and friendly! My two (and now three) dogs love them as their staff are more sweet and patient with the dogs. When I brought one of my dogs to a PetSmart grooming salon, he was misbehaving (like usual) and when it was time for me to pick him up they charged me a little extra because he was misbehaving (I don't know if they still do this or not). I don't mind being charged extra...but honestly, the Petco grooming staff, as I've mentioned previously, seem and are much more friendly, sweet, and patient with the dogs. My dogs are and always will be regulars here. I'm moving homes, and we have a PetSmart almost walking distance from us, but no matter how much further I have to drive, Petco will always be my first option. read more

Only 3 ferrets were available... I got the younger female ferret but when I got home I realized how underweight she is... I don't know how or why she could be almost all skin and bones, but I'm guessing their care was not good on their animals... Since I got home yesterday she has been eating more than I have seen any of my other ferrets eat on a single sitting... And she's had many sittings since then ... More than normal... The store was clean ... But the staff was just very scattered and unorganized ... I asked about the warranty they gave me and they told me that it only applies if you but certain a food brand and even then the cashier told me that they won't work with me and it's hard to get them to do anything ... I like to get the unscented refillable litter here once a month, it's an easy stop and the store is always clean and well-maintained. Out of all the so-called "unscented" house brand litters I've tried over the years, this is one of the better ones although it is a bit dusty. But you can't beat $6 for a 16lb tub. read more

I seem to have bad luck with my fish tank lights and often have to return them to Petco for one reason or another. Today I needed the full hood and light fixture. I had the right size and they had one on the shelf with and open box. I picked it up and the lady assured me it was just because someone wanted to look at it. Yah, that sounds about right so I buy it. Get home and find out it had been used, broken, and didn't work. Great, had to return to Petco. Walk in and the lady at the register says, I'll take it, you go get what you need. The only other one they had was $20 more, so I grab it and ask if they can even exchange it since it's the only one they have, and I realize they will probably say no.. I am giving this three stars because, as the description says, it's A-OK. They carry a decent amount of pet supplies for my beautiful baby cats which are of high quality including their litter box liners and dry food for our Russian Blue baby. They've also started to carry more high-end foods which tend to be less full of processed crap and contain more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and high quality meats. Given the option, though, I really prefer to shop at local places, simply because they're local and this town, more than any, needs locals' support. I went to buy some PH balance for my fish tanks. I went 30 minutes before closing since, I figure I'll quickly drop in and out. After taking about 5 mins debating which brand or enhancement I should choose; a lady with short hair, glasses and, a slight heavy set comes and says "if your not going to buy anything please leave, the store is closing." Alright so I was still thinking was this a good kind? Because I want the best for my pets. Before walking to the register I was thinking that, with a glare she huffs "are you going that buy that!?" In disbelief looking at my phone to find 15 mins before they close, I understand you had a long day and things may not be well in your life. However, when you open a business state what times are opened and closed you should be living up to that statement. I decided that this is not the right place to spend my moneys worth thus, I set the item back and left. The only thing preventing me giving this place 1 star is a gentleman on a different day kindly helped me get my fish and aided me to the register. This is my local PetCo. I could go elsewhere, but they are close and the prices are good. We have 2 cats and a dog, so we spend our fair share of cash on our animals. We like to buy good food for the animals, but cannot spend a ton of cash on the ultra special premium extra fancy food found at specialty stores throughout the valley. Here we can get good quality food for a good price. We can also pick up those other necessary items like cat litter (they have a refill station which I like because its less expensive and more friendly to the environment). I've found the staff here to be friendly and helpful, though they always seem to be understaffed. read more
