Parking is very easy to find in this lot. I stopped by on my route to pick up a new bag of pet food for my foster dog, however this location did not have it. They do have a wide selection of dog foods but it was interesting that the specific one I was looking for wasn't stocked. This was ok, I walked through the aisles and found a specific dog toy I've been looking for. I also stopped by the fish area, all the fish in the tanks look healthy and swimming around, however when I looked at the beta fish that are in the cups, multiple were passed away. I was there to possibly get one for my 10 gallon tank but then I did see a couple options in the healthy tanks that I was considering instead. When I asked staff if someone is available to help me in the fish area, he said "I don't think so, we are really busy." I looked around and I only saw one other customer in the whole store with me. Granted, this employee seemed to be alone as well, I didn't see any other employees anywhere visible in the store so maybe he was really busy by himself, but I really was considering to get one of the fish that I saw in the tanks swimming, but when he said the comment that they're so busy I changed my mind. He did take a deep sigh and then he walked over to the fish area with me to answer some questions, but he kept looking over his shoulder and all around like he was nervous so I didn't want to take anymore of his time and I paid for the dog toy and left. read more

Came in tonight and a item didn't show up as priced and didn't get a receipt. Was a bit peeved the price was increased and there was no communication as to why. I called to ask what happened why I didn't get my receipt. And if they are aware of how Weights and Measures works with pricing. And that you can't Willy Nilly change prices and not communicate that to the customer. The person I spoke with on the phone happened to be the same person who caused the issue and we had a back to back on why you don't do that. And why you need to communicate to customers what's going on if prices are adjusted or not properly inventoried to correct price sku. I hope going forward they communicate transparent pricing on items to avoid these kind of kerfuffles. Retail folks, kind reminder your employer may not explain to how weights and measures works in California. If you encounter items priced lower than adjusted higher at checkout: California BPC §12024: It is unlawful to charge more than the posted or advertised price. BPC §17500 (False Advertising): Misrepresenting the price of goods or services is considered false advertising. For reference item showed lower price on customer facing screen, then showed a higher price after adjustment. Not trying to be difficult just put yourself in the customers shoes. If you see two people communicate to raise the price of an item and act like your aren't even a person in front of them. You'd be pretty ticked off as well. Moral of the story if the price is wrong in store you have to own and honor your wrong pricing. Then fix it so it is correct and not lose money on items. You don't do it in front of a paying customer. Because California BPC §12024: It is unlawful to charge more than the posted or advertised price. Update: Also fun fact item doesn't even appear on their website if you scan it with the app. So clearly not staff fault but proof pricing at corporate needs a serious overhaul. Sorry for being upset on the phone but the situation. But hopefully you do read up on weights and measures and call corporate to fix your sku's to avoid issues going forward. I recently had a very disappointing experience with a customer service representative named Stephanie. From the beginning, she seemed uninterested in helping and responded with a rude attitude whenever I asked questions about my issue. Instead of listening carefully or trying to resolve the problem, she interrupted several times and made me feel like my concerns were not important. The lack of professionalism and poor communication turned what should have been a simple interaction into a frustrating experience. Good customer service should make customers feel respected and valued, but unfortunately that was not the case during my interaction with Stephaine. I will come a different day and hopefully give this store another chance. The store looks organized and clean. One cat she was not interested but my male cat loved it. How did Gabriella make it to a manager position? Came in today to sort out a little situation, instead of getting a refund I got charged again. Had the receipt and the bank activity. The lovely associate greets me, looks at the receipt and calls for a not so lovely manager Gabriella (who was the one who charged me instead of issuing the refund in the first place). We wait... and we wait... he is apologetic, gets help from another associate to cover the register and then walks to get the manager. And here she is gracing us with her presence, the Goddess bothered by walking or working or living in general... I'd imagine you'd start the conversation with identifying a problem?! (Besides the courtesy of greeting) Because I do already see the transaction, but as a charge, not a refund. Also, it was ran July 31st and today is August 8th, -I say. - "BUSINESS days" goes Gabriella. Ok, but honestly, is she AI?! Because the permanent scowl and irrelevant responses are pretty solid! I try to show the charge on my Amex app activity, reiterating that it has already been posted, but as a charge and not a refund. She takes a look at the receipt and then the app and decides to take this opportunity as a great teaching moment for me, explaining that if it was a charge, it would show up in negative. I set up an appointment for my doodle and when they asked if he had any medical issues, I told them he had a minor nail accident 3 months ago because of this they told me I need a Veterinarian note that he is able to be groomed. I am deeply saddened that I have to write this review but here we go. I have taken my golden doodle, juju, to this location numerous times with no issues. He usually gets groomed by Gus or Gio and they have done a good job. Today, Lenny was the groomer (although the appointment was made with Gio) they switched it on me last minute. After 3 hours I get a phone call from Petco and I'm thinking my dog is ready for pickup. Nope. It's Lenny telling me that juju is deeply matted on his legs and he won't be able to brush him out so my options were picking him up "matted" or shaving him. I was shocked that this phone call is happening 3 hours later when he was supposed to be ready for pickup and also that no groomer has EVER called to tell me that juju was too matted. He actually just got groomed less than one month ago and was not matted at all. Jessica, "manager" gets on the phone (after 10 minute hold time!!!!) with an attitude. No apologies no solutions, just attitude. Telling me that I shouldn't bring juju to them anymore. Ummmm excuse me? They messed up and they are trying to tell me where I can go? To make matters worst, when I picked him up. Neither Jessica or Lenny came out to show me where the so called "Matts" were. In actuality, there are ZERO matts on my dog--seems like an inexperienced or lazy groomer just couldn't do their job. This is the closest petco to me, I come thinking it would be most convenient but I think I'd rather drive somewhere else now for appointments. I like everything about it and the staff are always nice. My only complaint is the Doc is always late I've had 4 appointments here at 10:05 am and the staff always apologize that the Doc is running late and I'm not seen until 10:30-10:40. This seems like a regular occurrence not a one off. My cat gets stressed out about these things it would be nice if there was some consideration not only for the people that take time out of their life to come in for these things but for the pets too! Update: I was seen at 10:45 today my cat was feeling a little stressed now because she's been sitting in the carrier with a line of Dogs now waiting. Whichever Doctor came in was not as professional as the last and they weren't even able to give my cat the shots and told me I have to go to a Pet Hospital to sedate her to finish the shots because my cat is too stressed for their process. I've never had this issue with my cat until today. She's always good and everything goes well. Didn't even offer any type of comforting for my cat either no food motivation or anything just kind of told me they can't do it and sorry.... This review is specifically for Vetco within this Petco location. I am a first time cat owner. Brought my cat to Vetco to get her preliminary shots. Scheduling online is wonderful as there are many slots throughout the day. Although the appointments do fill up so make sure to plan ahead. These preliminary shots required three visits. One at the 8 week, 12wk and 16wk. At this location there isn't a specific section designated for Vetco. The check in is a small stand with someone attending. Once you are checked in the representative asks some basic questions and based on the age of your pet they will offer some additional items if needed. When you're done just hang around until you are called then you queue in a line waiting to be next. Once called the time spent is very quick. You get your paperwork and head on out. The problem I have with this location is one of the additional items they sold to me was flea medication. They offered me 3 month supply and the problem was my pet was going to out grow the dose sold way before the 2nd month arrived. I wasn't able to return the extra doses and felt stiffed for some extra cash. I also think there should be a dedicated section rather then huddling around a stand inside the Petco store. The Petco of Valley Glen is tucked away in the Victory Plaza of V.G. on Victory Blvd and Ethel Ave and is truly a hidden gem for your pet care, pet love, pet training and pet supply needs. While the store is pretty close to immaculate, the layout is truly something modern and simple as well as easy to navigate about and through. There is grooming and assistance on the right side of the store when you walk in as well as displays for information, programs and perks at Petco. I wanted to check out some dog beds for my roommates pups and the prices here are a little steep for those however the quality is top of the line! Once you make your way to the other side of the store you might get smitten with a few awesome animals waiting to be snatched up and given a home. It's something I'm definitely considering, but a little challenging with already three pets in the home belonging to my roommates. The blue parakeets definitely called out to me, as did a few reptile pets. Not sure I could ever be a tarantula person, but I do respect those giant arachnids. They have a lot of fish including a tank of koi fish and a wall of several different varieties. There's just about every pet accesory, food and product stocked and easy to spot. The Petco Valley Glen crew is very kind and personable and definitely enjoy their job. Not very fond of this location. While the staff are decent, I always find myself avoiding this particular store, due to it always being short on cat supplies. There's a ton of stuff for dogs... like 3/4 of the store in fact. But cats get a small 3 aisle section in the massive space. You'd think it'd be easy for them to keep their inventory in the cat section stocked, seeing as it's the smallest part of their inventory. I was shocked to walk through the aisles to buy cat liter and notice ALL THEIR SHELVES WERE BARE! Cat liter was completely gone! How can this business find this as acceptable?! Even if I wanted to buy a different brand, I couldn't because there was none! When a company you already don't like makes it that difficult to spend your money there, that should tell you to take your business elsewhere. Kinda messed up that a grocery store was more accommodating of my needs than a damn PET STORE! If a grocery store has the simple things you need for your pet and yet a "pet store" which specializes in pets alone doesn't, then smart people who read this should be able to make a logical decision on where not to spend their money. read more

I told him I needed her done by 4:30 the latest. I finally called them at 5:30 when they decided to answer the phone and they say she's done by the time I got over there my dog was left alone in the dark. About a half an hour ago, an extremely rude person in the aquatics department gave us the worst service we've received. I believe his name is "Martin" but can't be certain--he had unkempt, curly hair and is tall. This person worked at the slowest pace possible and disregarded the presence of the only customers asking for assistance. After he mustered the courage to acknowledge us, he responded in barely audible nods and "uuhs." We requested 20 small fish, but understandably, he couldn't accomplish this feat and was capable of only counting to 19. Great attempt, but two of the fish in the plastic bag were dead after a 10-minute drive. Is it possible to give zero stars? read more

DONT GET YOUR DOG WASHED HERE. They washed my dog and 3 or 4 days later we saw that he had some horrible abscess then scabs on his back then legs and face. Took him to the vet paid over $500 in tests and medicine. The vets wants to do an biopsy which is another $500. I saw another review with very similar issues. They claim to use "Well & Good ProStyle" products but I cant find who makes this product its probably rebranded junk made in China or something for Petco. This is for the dog grooming department. I've been a longtime customer of Petco, mostly by delivery. But with all I order, they sent me a coupon for a free nail trim. It's always a hassle to cut my dog's nails,so I was looking forward to it. I went in there with my proof of rabies vaccine that I've had done at Low Cost Pet Vaccines the past few years; they have 4 outdoor rotating spots, but I go when they're in Van Nuys. I had the sticker right off the vaccine vial on the paper (the one that says the dose expiration, plus how long it's good for) along with the vet signature that administered it. And he'd only had this new dose March 2021. Well, the staff REFUSED to accept as a valid proof of vaccination, even with all that! Said I had to go and essentially get all the info I was already showing them, on a form from a veterinarian office. He was vaccinated by a vet, signed and dated! With a vaccine label! So basically they refused service for not having my legit vaccine proof on a fancy piece of paper. Not sure why anyone would go through so much trouble to falsify a rabies shot, but apparently the staff here think it's a very likely scenario I'll be rethinking where I have my animals' recurring prescription food orders after this, and am certainly not trying the groomers again. read more

Gabby was really awesome. It was 15 to 9 and I had 15 minutes to make it here and she was able to get my dog food for me and hold it for me in the front. Right when it turned nine ,she opened the door for me, and she let me come in and buy my dog food. So my puppy could have dog food. Three years later and this is still a dumpster fire of a Petco. I'm huge on animals and have three dogs (two rescues), a bird, and also keep freshwater fish at home, in aquascaped, planted tanks. All in all for my aquariums, I'd like to say I've spent close to $1000 on the everything for the three tanks, filters, fish, plants, etc. at this point. The following is what prompted my updated review. I bought a 45g CO2 cartridge for my 10 gallon so I could carpet my Betta's tank. When I screwed it in, nothing happened. Which tells me it was manufactured and sealed empty, probably due to some factory error. Lost the receipt and must've forgotten to punch in my Petco ID when I paid for it. I figured no biggie since I've never had an issue with returns at Petco before. Whoever the lady working the register was (and I'll find out who she is), had the absolute NASTIEST attitude towards me for seemingly no reason at all. I swear on everything that I was polite, patient, and didn't care at all that it was taking a long time to figure it out and even told her I appreciated her helping me out. The entire time we interacted, she had a horrible attitude towards me, and was disrespectful with her responses to my questions. I usually don't say anything in situations like this because I figure that person is probably having a crappy day. But this was wayyyyyyy outta line and when I confronted her I said, "you've had an attitude with me the entire time this has been going on, did I say or do something wrong?", And she snapped back at me with something along the lines of, "you lost your receipt and it isn't in the system and you're standing here trying to rush me to do this".....I literally never said a word about the time this was taking, and even resorted to quietly answer some emails since it was taking so long. So I have NO clue where she decided that I was rushing her to finish. Regardless, the point here is that this employee shouldn't be allowed to behave towards a customer like this, ESPECIALLY when it's COMPLETELY unprompted. Oh, and two years later, their aquatic section is still barren and isn't restocked for at least three weeks or so at a time. At this point, I would literally fire every single person working at this dumpster fire and re-hire an all-new staff. This is ridiculous. read more

It shouldn't even be running, management must be nonexistent or disconnected from the staff, because they are trained here to treat every customer like trash, and to sell broken items, in my case of broken pet tag, EXPIRED cat food AND dog food IN THE SAME TRIP. I don't think I've ever even seen expired pet food in my whole entire life but somehow this store managed to sell me in the same day for two separate species, expired food. I honestly was disappointed when i got three fish and the guy put tap water in the bag instead of tank water. When i saw this i said something but he said "oh this water is from the tanks but filtered." Bullshit dude. Its been like two hours and they are already dead and on top of that i knew this would happen. I also received a half printed receipt at the register saying they can track the products via my account. Every time ive went they need a physical receipt. Lets hope tomorrow morning they can just give me my money back and maybe work on their practices. Truly disappointing that he would just lie like that. I don't think I have ever left a review solely based off a single interaction at a store let alone a Petco. But today, I was COMPLETELY blown away by the service I was provided. Today, my spouse and I went to Petco to set up an aquarium and had NO idea what we were looking for, we started picking some things out for the tank and decided to ask for some help because we were interested in snagging some new fish for our new tank. That is when we met Korbin. (I think I spelled that right? or maybe Korben) For the sake of not misspelling his name repeatedly ill refer to him as K. K walked over to us and saw that we were buying a tank and the typical starter stuff and inquired if this was a first time set up and we told him yes. This, is where it all began. First off I want to say that this man is KNOWLEDGABLE about what he was speaking about. He gave in depth descriptions of ALL the products we spoke about and gave us tips on what to do when it was time to move our fish from its current extremely small bowl to its new tank. My spouse and I have over 10 years worth of customer service experience and we have NEVER been blown away by service at Petco, or any other store at that. Polite, patient, to the point, and professional, Korbin completely knocked it out the park with his stellar service. I called the store to speak with the manager to compliment K and his immaculate service and sadly, it was him who was the manager. So here I am in hopes that someone from Petco can see this and please, acknowledge this mans work ethic. Korbin, if you see this. Thank you. This is the second time I've brought him to this Petco, first of all they don't do a good job at all for a basic bath. I brought him here again because my groomer was booked this whole month. Yesterday I brought my dog in PERFECTLY FINE! And when I received him 3.5 hours later I noticed that he kept rubbing his eyes with his paws but he seemed fine so I left him at home with my mom to run errands and when I got back his eyes were completely shut with mucus and they were really red and he would not stop rubbing them or open them. I took him to the vet and they said something went into his eye and irritated him now he has ulcers and has to be on medication every 4-6 hours and has to wear a cone!!! I understand accidents happen but this shouldn't have happened! They were not careful enough or something else happened and they aren't telling me. Just be careful. The groomer that groomed him is named Kiara! And I still have not received any apology! I wish I would have read the reviews before!!! read more

I really like this location!! I don't know how I haven't been to this location before, but I'll definitely be coming back. There is tons of parking despite being located in a strip mall. They have a big store layout that is nicely set up and from what I saw, shelves were stocked with products. There was lots of open space. I didn't feel crammed. It was very easy to walk through the store. I came for a collar for my German Shepherd puppy. I brought her in with me and since the store wasn't all that packed, we took over the collar section!They have lots of colors and designs to choose from, plus different types of collars, chokers and harnesses. We got the pink! Maybe now everyone can stop assuming she's a boy. Also, a big win was that the floors were very clean. Since dogs are allowed in, accidents happen all the time and from my experience at other locations, not all teams are as quick with clean up. read more

She refused to even check the vaccines just because the card doesn't look like the only ones she can read, I don't know if she can read or she was lazy today or she wants to schedule an appt for another dog and wants my dog spot, or just wanted to keep warming up the stool!.. It is upsetting because today was my dog 3rd grooming appt at PETCO(2nd at this location) and also took training classes for 12 weeks (same store), he was boarded twice in 2 different locations and going to a doggy day care multiple times, and he did all of that with the SAME vaccine card that I showed today! THE SAME! So WHO is the person who can NOT read vaccine cards??... It is NoT worth it to have a Nice Store with that Kind of Cr@/(#y employee. I kind of feel bad to write this review because (the trainer and the lady that did my dog first Grooming were Awesome) but sadly they weren't there today, So..... TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE TO BE MORE OBJECTIVE AND LESS SUBJECTIVE!!! You should start paying them by every dog that they groom not by hours and let's see if they keep canceling appointments... read more

These employees don't give a f&$@ about customer service. Just drove here for 30 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes before the store closed and was not allowed in. Guess I won't feed my dog tonight! Go to petsmart read more
