The minus two stars are for the last few awkward encounters I've had with (I believe) a new manager being overly chatty and sociable in an insincere/gushy way and the unprofessional banter I've heard standing in a very short line to buy a single item. I've also been given long sales spiels at the grooming salon, had to request they remove a service from a bill that I didn't ask for, and after being pretty specific- my dog's cut had a couple really odd deviations. I recently got a kitten and this Petco was extremely helpful! I was in the cat aisle and an employee greeting me asking if I needed assistance. She gave me very helpful information about kitten care and food! She even went to the back and got me a coupon! There was a great variety of toys, food, scratchers, etc although the reason why I didn't give it a five star rating was because they were completely sold out of Royal Canin kitten "instinctive" wet food. If you're just going to buy products and go then its fine but if you have to interact with the staff for more than just a check out then you're more than likely not going to have a great experience. I came in yesterday to pick up my order (which was very easy, I recommend it) and I was interested in a Ginny pig the sales associate Jesse was so nice, and informative about them. He had great customer service and was very kind! One of the other associates was pretty upset I think he was wearing a back brace, saying loudly "Jesses been with the same customer for an hour" there was two people in line so he needs to stop worrying. We've (me and my three dogs) have gone to many groomers, PetSmart, local ones you name it. But here they played with my dogs a little bit to get to know them and be comfortable with them. Then my dog just went with the girl. This is a big deal since my 80lb AmStaf is a huge mommas boy! Was so happy she was able to get his nails shorter and rounded than most! If only I could put 0 stars I would because the service was terrible. There's only 1 stylist and the rest are students which left my 2 dogs (poodles) deformed. They hurt 1 of them in the nails and they seem clumsy with dogs and what really concerns me is that there is only 1 certified stylist, who knows what are the rest. Never take your dogs because if they don't know how to cut a dog or a puppy's hair, I don't want to imagine how they do it to other dogs. Extremely risky and a possible waste of money. read more

I came into the store today to get pet grooming tools for our cats. We have been waiting for the past 15 minutes for someone to come and open up the locked cage for the grooming tools. (There are 3 associates present ). After waiting 15 minutes he then proceeds to make an announcement for another cashier to help ring up customers . Multiple customers including us have been waiting to get items that are in lock up in different areas of the store. We been told multiple times by cashier manny "I'll get to you guys soon" but never came to help. Several people have left because they do not help the customers that need help getting items. After finally getting help we were informed that the person that was helping us was the manager (employee with long braid . They said in a rude tone (from behind the register ) "oh did you ask for help " ? and we said yes we keep asking the cashier( Manny) and he said he would get to us and kept taking customers. The employees at this store are very rude and unhelpful. The store is completely understaffed, no sense of urgency or any respect for the customer shopping at their store. I'm not thrilled that my precious pup is placed in a cage before being groomed, but we typically reserve the first appointment of the day in order to mitigate puppy lock-up. It was very understaffed I tried asking the guy at the front for help but he said he couldn't leave register and had to find me someone else. I came in on a Saturday morning for a few things. I was looking for a few things for my gecko and a specific cat food. They must have been doing a spay and neutering event because there were a lot of people were asking for that and the grooming area. The employees seemed particularly busy and didn't seem to have enough of them around. I went right to the reptile section and got what I was looking for. Then I went over to the cat food area and I need a specific cat food that I had never gotten before. I looked around for staff and there were non to be seen. Petco is still not taking returns! They just like taking money from customers and not giving it back. They expect me to keep a defective item that was $100, beyond ridiculous! Our Govenor is not doing that, Petco is. As businesses reopen, most retailers are now accepting returns. There is no real reason since they have the same contact customers while making the return as they do with purchase transactions. How do customers know if they are touching something that was contaminated while in the store? The stories about how long a virus could live on items was overstated and inaccurate! There is no real justification for a reputable retailer to do this except to keep money of others unlawfully! I called and they can't even tell me when they can accept refunds. Poor management. They should be keeping their employees advised. Well guess what, I am filing a credit card dispute and it will get charged back! read more

This is a pretty large store. It's never too busy, however as most Petco's, they tend to be understaffed and hard to get assistance. They do have a huge selection of items. My dogs all have food allergies, so their selection of grain-free food is much appreciated. But because of the difficulty of getting help, you need to know what you are looking for, or plan on spending time looking around. read more

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with this store. 3 stars instead of 5 because they are expensive and didn't price match with Home Depot. If you want a better deal you can find it elsewhere, however, if you want to be helped by people who love animals, you should go to Petco. I brought my pup in, and she promptly decided to do a #1 on the floor. :( I was so embarrassed. More my fault than hers (I was a new dog owner too). They were so quick to offer to help me clean up. They would have done it for me, but I wasn't going to let that happen. Afterwards, I had a good 30 minute conversation with one of the managers about her and her pit bull. It was so informative. We talked about toys, she had recommendations for my breed, along with things to stay away from. I didn't feel pressured or anything. Yes, it was more expensive than it would have been if I'd have gone online, but worth it for the conversation. If I had one other suggestion, it would be this: We bought a very large crate for our dog to sleep in. Turns out the exact crate is 30 dollars cheaper at Home Depot. (who would have thought Home Depot had dog crates?) Anyways, they wouldn't match the price because it was not another pet store. That was disappointing. I was there to look for a pet rodent and was sad to see all of their cages were very dirty. There was poop everywhere, even stuck on the inside of the wheels. To top it off, they called after 6 PM Friday evening. I didn't agree to get random calls from them. When I told them I wouldn't take the survey the guy got pushy with me insisting they needed me to take the survey and it would only take 2 minutes. I like the stores, products, staff and prices but, they should NOT be calling people to take surveys. you know, i kind of want to hate petco. i want to be all like ugh it's a chain store. but i just can't. first of all, they have shit tons of dog food. seriously. shit tons. so many options. you can get organic crap or stuff for dogs on a diet (aww!) or regular ole alpo. they also have a decent sized clothing section for doggies which is so cute. obnoxious, but cute. ok now for the groomer. so i decided on a sunday at like 10 am that my pup needed a groomin'. i called and got an appt. for that afternoon. what luck! i took her in and was real nervous since this was her "first time." it only took about 45 minutes and i came back to my beautiful, clean and good smelling sweetheart. the woman that did the grooming was friendly and helpful. AND it was only $22. that's a serious deal. also, it's like 3 days later and my dog still smells good. i shall definitely go back. one more thing: they have tons of other animals for sale. hamsters, guinea pigs. a TON of fish, snakes, bearded dragons, frogs, turtles, birds, mice, chinchillas and probably some more i'm forgetting. read more

The staff at the arden petco store is amazing. Lynda was so helpful. And so knowledgeable. All my needs were met. I recently adopted a rescue dog from their adoption center(a little poodle mix) and they had everything I needed. Even had a check off list and lots of coupons that saved me alot of money. Even a free bag of dog food to start me off. This is my very first dog and I wanted everything to be perfect. The staff at the arden petco made my experience A++ apparently they are in the process of getting a new dog trainer? She's supposed to be really good. I can't wait for Leonidas aka Leo to start!
