We frequent this Petco for dog grooming services (mostly face/feet/fanny trim and nail trim & buffing) and to get doggy snacks, toys, dental care items and we have nothing but praises for this Petco. Our dog is a rescue and probably was not exposed to regular grooming when he was a puppy so he gets super nervous with strangers in general but especially when it comes to grooming done by a stranger. We have been going to Danielle consistently for nail trim/buffing for about a year now and noticed our dog was getting more comfortable with Danielle so we recently started getting face/feet/fanny trim in addition to the nail service. It takes about 17 minutes for nail & face/feet/fanny trim. The store has windows allowing you to see the grooming in progress, which I really appreciate, but I stay hidden so he doesn't see me while he is on the table. Danielle has been wonderful, kind, and patient with Jax and we really appreciate the excellent care she provided for our boy. We have had worked with other groomers from this Petco and all of them are wonderful and kind as well. We hope that our boy will one day be comfortable enough with Danielle for full grooming. Of note, the price of nail trim and buffing went up by 33% recently. read more

I only have the best things to say about Julie, our groomer. A year ago, we adopted our miniature poodle, Nora, who had been rescued from a puppy mill. When we got her, she was traumatized beyond belief not only from the environment she was raised in, but also from being shuffled around from multiple foster homes. She had lost trust in people and was terrified of everything and everyone. As she became more comfortable with us and settled into our family, we decided it was time to take our little friend to get a much needed bath and haircut. When we showed up with our pup for the first time, she was matted and her coat was out of control. We had never had a poodle before, and had tried bathing her in the tub (which only made things worse). Julie greeted us with a smile, and instead of judging us based on the condition she was in, educated us on how to properly care for her type of coat. She was nothing but patient and kind when Nora pooped on the floor out of fear before even being taken in. She took her time with the appointment, and then called me to tell me that she was unable to finish her groom. Julie felt that based on her behavior, it seemed like she had enough for the day. Because she was so scared, Julie asked if I could bring her back the next day so that she could finish at Nora's pace so as not to traumatize her further. I was so taken aback and touched that she was so considerate of our dogs situation and behavior. I happily agreed. We now go back to see Julie regularly. Her work is exceptional and Nora comes home looking (and smelling) beautiful every time. Nora loves Julie and is so much more comfortable with the grooming process thanks to her patience. Not only does she look wonderful, but her experiences at Petco/with Julie have helped her grow into a more confident and trusting dog. Thank you Julie for your kindness, patience, and understanding! If I could give this location half a star...I would. This was my puppy's first professional grooming and the experience was not what I expected. For reference, I have a 5 lb Yorkie mix. As I said, this was my puppy's first time being groomed by a professional. However, she is used to baths at home - and does quite well. My appt was at 11a and I was told it would take a few hours for them to finish. I left my baby full of excitement anticipating how cute she'd look afterward. I received a call just shy of three hours telling me she was done. I guess the person I spoke to on the phone attempted to do damage control before I arrived by saying, my pup was really freaked out and they couldn't do anything other than trim her nails and face hair. I arrived to pick up my pup and aside from the face/nail trim, she looked exactly the same! She smelled the exact same and her fur didn't even look like it had been brushed. That was confirmed when we got home and I discovered fur clumps in her tummy area. So you mean to tell me that between the 3-4 workers I saw in the grooming area that day, you couldn't handle a 5 lb Yorkie mix?! Also, I was very unhappy with the service I received and even more unhappy that I was still charged $55 for a ghost bath and nail/face trim! NEVER AGAIN! read more

I stopped there unexpectedly while doing other errands. The staff was very friendly to my 6 year old son and got out a lizard for him to hold. At the checkout I asked about the cost of Frontline flea medication. The in store price was a little pricey. I said, "well, ok let's just get it." The Assistant Mgr. said, "Wait, I can give you an online deal sometimes our website has a better price." He saved me like $60!! I was so impressed that he bothered to take the extra step to be so helpful. I will definitely consider coming here for other items in the future now because of this experience. read more

I went to take my 2 yorkies to get groomed and it didn't go well at all. My puppies needed their hair cut and a bath. There was matting in their fur, but when I looked through the window at them cutting the first pups hair everything looked fine and the first pup was very relaxed and letting them groom him. I left the store and 5 minutes later I'm getting a call to say that the pups aren't letting them groom them. I left with one shaved pup everywhere but his head and the other one 1/8's shaved. Although they didn't charge me anything, I feel like they could've put more effort into trying. There were 3 people there the puppy was a mere 10 pounds. I just left this location in tears. Noone on the staff would tell me where I go to get my dog vaccinated. The guy who does them walked right by me several times and heard me as someone else. I was completely ignored as I walked about the South Weymouth location looking for the place where you give the vacination. finally, one of the workers I asked said "stand at the podium in the front of the store. My dog has never been to a store like this, so he peed. I wanted to clean it up, and a employees points me to a wash station with only bags. So, I'm off again trying to find an employee. One kid that worked there gave me an empty bottle and watched as I cleaned up, like all the other employees, completely ignored me and what was going on making me feel very embarrassed at the situation. After all that, I went back to the podium and there were 3 people ahead of me. My appointment was at 10:30. If someone who worked at this PetCo location South Weymouth was so kind enough to help a paying customer I wouldn't have had to wait another 20 minutes in line while the person at the podium made me wait, I think, purposely, for another 10. We took our dog here for a groom. We are always nervous about how groomers treat animals since they can't tell us. Firstly, the animals are groomed in a glass room visible to the public which is comforting. But the groomer, Morgan, was phenomenal. She was very friendly and was great with our dog. They called us two hours earlier than they quoted to tell us he was finished. When we saw him we were thrilled. He looked beautiful, and Morgan told us he was one of the best dogs she ever worked on. We will definitely be regular customers here. Just a warning, they do require the animals shots to be up to date and they ask for the paperwork to prove it. read more

This is definitely one of the best Petco stores I've been to, and by far the most innovative spot for any pet supplies throughout a ten miles radius. If you've ever been to other Petco locations, you'd know that none of them are that great, in terms of cleanliness and "the times". Most of their stores (specifically Norwood and Avon) look from the 80's, and are in desperate need of renovation. Now, being that I like getting the best deal anywhere on anything (I'm a bargain hunter!), Petsmart is great.... but Petco is normally cheaper on most items. I only go to Petsmart with coupons or if it undeniably convenient in comparison to Petco. VERY FEW Petco stores are up-to-date, or in the future, like this one. Clean, organized, and modern are the best words to describe the Weymouth store. Don't bother going anywhere else for your pet, the Weymouth location has grooming and is completely full stocked with any supplies, food, or toys you may need. They have got a full section of fish and you don't get that "get me out of here" feeling in the Weymouth location. Prices are pretty good, and they much Petsmart coupons. Staff are friendly, and the store is barely ever that busy. I hope this is the way the Petco company anticipates to make all of their stores, because some of the others need a drastic change! To date, this Petco and the Needham location are the only ones I've seen renovated. 5 stars for the Weymouth Petco. Great store! read more

If you need something quick go there. It's definitely a good place For that. If you want quality maybe try somewhere where they are more experienced. My dog just got back and they really messed up his tail big time. They cut it practically to the tip. He is a golden. In the past the few other times I have not been super happy either. I enrolled my puppy in training with Joe at 8 weeks. As a first time dog owner I felt it was very helpful to go to class every week and learn about positive behavioral training. Joe is awesome! My puppy absolutely loves him and gets excited to go into the store the minute we pull into the parking lot. Joe was very accommodating with my schedule as a nurse, which I appreciated greatly. I went to this location to return a gifted aquarium filter. I was told outright without any questioning that i needed a receipt to make the return. The website says that returns can be made without a receipt. I called the customer service line and was connected to the supposed customer service line. The agent told me that policy was discretionary and they had the right to limit returns. So in other words the policy means nothing for the consumer under his interpretation. When I asked him to clarify what he was stating he implied the item I wanted to return could have been stolen and referenced areas that would have a large client base of African Americans and high theft issues. I told him that i felt he was implying I was a thief told him I would provide this review and i ended the conversation. The item I had is only a 20$ item it was purchased and given to me as a gift. i wasted more time on the phone and traveling to the store than the item was worth but it the principle. again implying that the item was stolen and that is why they would not make the return and then using certain demographics to defend his policy decision which I thought was racist and offensive. This review is about my experience with one person at the Weymouth location. I purchased an item online. I received an email confirmation of my order and then a shipping confirmation. When the package came in the mail, it had a packing slip. The item did not work out for my dog so I went to the Weymouth Petco to return it with packing slip in hand & price tag intact. I also had the email confirms on my phone in case they were needed. Since the website says returns can be done in store, I expected this to be a quick & easy transaction. Sadly I was wrong. Apparently it is really complicated to return something with a receipt, packing slip and price tag still on. Not only is it challenging, it warrants the manager being rude & condescending while she tried to figure it out. Not sure of her name (blonde woman), but based on her rude attitude I will never buy anything online from Petco again or shop in the store. After 15 minutes of her telling me that the email I received from the company SHE works for is supposed to have a link in it for returns but didn't (like I had control over this?!) she finally decided to credit my Amex. In the future I will be sure to go to PetSmart. read more
