I am giving the lowest rating because I brought my maltipoo in to be groomed, spent $90.00 only to watch Hailey power grip my sweet Oliver's legs because she was impatient because he was struggling a little due to the fact she was bending his leg back in a way that bothered him. She yelled at him to stop, and jerked his leg back more all the while he was yelping. I was about to break through the doors when she stopped her behavior abruptly. I had to calm myself because I wanted to jack her up! I kept my composure so I didn't get arrested, but made sure to make a complaint about her. Hailey...if you cannot find patience in a struggling dog without becoming frustrated, than you are in the wrong field of work! Had an appointment for my new dog to be groomed yesterday. I brought in my dog's vaccination records and the guy working the counter looked at the papers and said my dog was not up to date on her rabies shots. I attempted to inform him that she was and he said "no she isn't. She needs the 3 year and only has the 1 year". He refused to hear me out and I left the store. I went to the vet today and they said my dog was up to date and the employee was looking at the expiration date of the vaccine. Im a new pet owner and didn't know better but I knew my dog had current shots. I do not remember the employee's name but he should not be working around pets! I lost a lot of time and money due to his actions. Please ensure your employees are trained how to read vaccination records if they are supposed to verify said records. read more

Last month during the visit they inspected our dogs teeth and noticed some purulent discharge. I brought my Shiba in yesterday to buy a brand new collar and leash for her. Walked in and was greeted and asked if we needed help. I love that they provide pick up bags for your pet's dropping and a cleaning station. After I took some time to try on some doggie collars and find one that was good for her, we went to pay. I have always done my 2 small dogs nails, baths and haircuts so I was nervous to take them to have a a full bath and haircut. I booked my appointment and showed up a few minutes early to see through the window Allison working on a small dog and the dog was just wagging her tail and Allison was talking to her. So after I introduce Timmy and Amore to her , I had a good feeling about her and also the lady who did the baths. When I showed back up to pick them up through the window I saw Amore staring into Allison's eyes and wagging her tail and Allison was talking to her and she even let Amore Kiss her on the mask. I brought my dog here for dog training and I really enjoyed the classes with Jackie, but I felt it was overpriced ($110 for 6 weeks of training, once a week for one hour) for what my dog learned. She taught how to sit, lay down, look into the owners eyes, leave something alone, stay, quiet, etc... Mostly basic commands. My dog already knew how to do most of the commands so I don't think I gained much from it other than free treats each lesson and a goodie bag on graduation day. :p Jackie is really knowledgable about the stores products and is very helpful. The other workers I've dealt with are pretty helpful too. Some were not too knowledgable, but they were always able to find someone to help me. I wouldn't recommend buying products from this store though... It is overpriced and you can find cheaper stuff online on Amazon or something. I am very please with the grooming done on my cavaliers at this Petco store. We have been thru a couple different groomers, but my babies always come out looking adorable. I don't do a fancy cut like most cavaliers, but a #7 all over. Their coats look smooth, not choppy. My dogs love going in. My male cavalier gets frequent ear infections, and the guys take great care when trimming his ears. A big thank you to the guy at Petco grooming. read more

Christian and Jake absolutely amazing ! Two days before Christmas and they are still able to take last minute call ins for grooming cheerfully and gracefully!! I am so pissed!! My wife dropped of our dog this morning around 9:45. I get a call from my wife saying that the groomer said that our dog pooped and threw up in the kennel twice! Our dog has never done that at a groomer!! We brought him here like 2 months ago and had no problem getting him groomed. The groomer asked my wife if there was something wrong with our dog and she told the groomer there is nothing wrong with him. I am so shocked this happened. So my wife goes and picks him up and they half way washed him didn't clip his nails and give him back to her wet. Then the groomer says we can never bring him back here!! I took my dog here two weekends ago for a bath and haircut which should have also included a blow dry, nail trimming, and anal glands. My dog was under their care for two hours when I got a phone call explaining that there was some mats on his ears and they would need to completely shave them. He's a maltipoo and mats happen sometimes with how thick and curly his hair is, so I agreed and stated that wasn't a problem. Roughly 15 minutes later I received another call stating that they had found mats in his toes and he seemed very uncomfortable in the tub, so they would not be able to finish. They gave me no further explanation, and returned my dog to me like this. They had shaved him completely, except for his head, and shaved his ears. They did not perform any of the extra services I requested such as the nail trimming or anal glands. It has been almost 10 days now, and my dog has been extremely depressed and not himself. He wasn't eating on his regular schedule, wasn't interested in playing, he just wanted to sleep all day wrapped in a blanket, and would often start crying for no reason which is extremely out of character. My dog is extremely social, and well behaved. He is very submissive in the bathtub. I am baffled as to why there was any issue, and I genuinely feel like my dog has been traumatized by this experience. I was very concerned about there possibly being mats in between his toes as the groomer had suggested, (she told us they were so bad that we would have to take him to a vet and have him sedated to get them removed) so that night my fiancé and I went through every toe on every paw with a fine tooth comb, and found nothing. Our dog had no issues with us messing with his feet for an extended period of time either, so he clearly was not uncomfortable or in pain. I've included a before picture of my dog for reference. They destroyed my dog's coat!!!! I have a Golden Retriever and they shaved half of his hair off and left the rest undone and longer than the other half, it was so an even! I adopted a cat through OC Small Paws from this store a few weeks ago. I was in the store twice.... Once when I originally met the cat, and then again to pick him up. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The store is clean, and it is easy to find merchandise. I was given a coupon booklet of items with my adoption, but I was not able to use any of them on items for my cat. I purchased a cat carrier and pad, and food from here as well. The only complaint I had, was the womens restroom. I dont know why, but it smelled horrifically. They had a few of the cone air fresheners in there, so its clearly a problem. GROOMERS: Very friendly, and helpful, they didn't mind I didn't have a carrier for our cat. They did a great job, they gave him a flea dip, brushed, groomed, and had his nails done. Poor little guy split a nail and was bloody but he didn't seem to be in pain. I was very glad they showed me immediately when I got there. They suggested a type of brush to buy for him, to help with shedding, they were thorough and I am sure were pretty grateful that our kitty was so calm. STORE: Immaculate! Well organized and every thing spaced out and easy to find with huge sections for each animal, I loved that they had cat harnesses and even a potty training seat for your cat! I bought Chaka all kinds of goodies and everyone was very helpful while I rang things up. This is my favorite local Petco to go to. Jay is always extremely helpful and ready to have conversations about my cats. He never fails to go above the call of duty to help me find things for my cats especially if the item is not in stock. Lately, it appears that most Petco stores haven't been receiving their replenishment stock quickly so he always checking on certain items to see if they are getting it in. Like my cat litter that I use appears to be having delays or possibly being discontinued so Jay is kind enough to look into further for me and get back to me later. Plus, he is nice nice enough to help keep an eye out for my cat's favorite toy to come back in stock. I need a backup to it. Basically, I want to give kudos to my favorite Petco employee for always making the time I spend in his store great! =) read more

Grooming review: I've been going to Petco Grooming for about 3-4 years now. The last 3 times that my pup has gone, I've needed to 'fix' his cut at home. He comes back with uneven ears, tail and butt. We ask how it went at pick up they say great/good/okay (no actual complaint or statement to say my dog was a challenge) and then he comes out looking uneven. The last time we went he has razor burn all over his belly. That was the last straw for me. I can deal with uneven cuts that make him look funny but they hurt him this last time. He wouldn't lay on his tummy for 2 days. Anyone have any recommendations on local groomers?? read more

I'd give this a 0 star if I could. I have never had someone try to ruin my business before at a Petco. I've had fish my whole life and a woman working there tried to tell me how to take care my fish. She also called me selfish for wanting to buy the fish.... Umm it is my money and if you need to sit there and be a PETA advocate than go be one outside of work. Apparently you need to have your fish tank running for 31 days before you can put fish in it. In my whole 28 years of living and having fish my whole life I have never known or done that or known anyone who leaves their tank empty 31 days to prepare for fish. Then she wouldn't help me after I said I am buying the fish anyways. She told the next worker who was trying to help me I could only buy 10 fish, so I had to go to another store to finish my purchase. I have never had someone tell me how many fish I can buy either. I am the customer if I want to buy a million fish it should be okay. I have never been so disrespected in my life at a store. Or had someone talk back to me THE CUSTOMER in my life. Have been taking my dog to the grooming here in Westminster on Goldenwest for at least 2 years now, always had pretty good service in the grooming dept except for today. First off the girl Alyson needs to find another job or get better customer service training from Petco. Absolute rudeness on her part. They lost all my dogs vaccination records, then after we provided those again told her what we needed his ears checked (because he has been scratching one of them internally) and cleaned, nails completely done, and glands done. As she came around the counter to put the Petco leash on him, my dog backed up a little scared and slipped out of his collar and she saw it ( completed accident ) and immediately said" You need to keep the collar and leash on your dog at all times until we transfer leashes!" Me being a little taken by her statement replied " didn't you just see him slip out of it by mistake "? She looked at me and I told her again " didn't you just see it? complete mistake and no response from her...Then her thinking she was a going to make a diagnoses from her limited training looks at his ears and around them and saids "his ears look fine"... I'm like, that's it ? No looking into the ear canal or cleaning them ? Ha ha ha she immediately took him into the back room to do his nails and glands comes out a few minutes later to give him back to me and his nails were just clipped & not buffed. I let her know that I needed a complete nail job done as requested and not just clipped, she threw a little fit and said "you didn't say you wanted a buff", I responded that "I asked for a complete nail job." Maybe I should of been more clear, but she should have also asked me being that's her job. Listen, I'm not trying to be a complainer or a Karen, but if I'm a customer and you are taking care of fur son, you had better talk to and show me respect as I do with you, Period. So this is probably the nicest Petco I've ever seen. It was clean (just don't look up above 12 feet), well lit and everything appeared to be where it belonged. In the pet clothing section (yes, we are "those kind of people") there was about half the selection as the HB store on Warner. But the HB store on Warner is best described using the politically incorrect term that starts with an S and the second half of the word is "hole". The other thing is that the employees were better than I've ever experienced at Petco. When we asked if he could check other inventory, the fellow we asked not only checked other stores, but actually ordered the item online for us. No big deal, we could have done that, but he went above and beyond. Most employees probably would have told us what is on display is all they have. Now the only thing that could improve that store is to move it out of Westminster. Especially Westminster Blvd. with it's 35 MPH limit and annoying traffic. Hmmm, can I rate Westminster on Yelp? The whole city... Anywho, good store, at least one excellent employee and plenty of parking. I might start coming to this one rather than the one on Warner. read more

Do not take your dog to these groomers, they lack respect, have no compassion, and are just plain rude. I have taken my dog to PetSmart every month for the last 2.5 years and never had a problem. I decided to try Petco since this location is close to my place, but after my two experiences, I will never step foot in a Petco again. My dog does not like blow dryers, as many dogs don't. At PetSmart since they know my dog doesn't like the drying appliance they will hand dry her or let her dry out in the crate. Jayke at Petco was extremely rude from the first time I stepped foot into the salon. My dog gets a little scared when going to the groomers but eventually warms up. He immediately asked me if something was wrong with my dog. He then when on to ask me if I lived alone because my dog did not seem social or loving (which is completely opposite of how she is. She is the most loving and kind dog and plays with all the dog's at the complex I live at). I attempted to bring her the second time and they called me in the middle of the session saying she was aggressive towards the blow dryer and they would no longer be able to see her at any Petco and that I needed to take her to a vet to get checked up. I wrote a complaint and the manager Jeremey replied saying my dog was choking herself in the restraint! As I said before, PetSmart never put my dog in a restraint/choke collar. My dog came home that day and was having throat problems for 3 days and throwing up. I will never take her here again. I brought my dog here this past Friday 10/20/17 for a nail trim they had a special going on for $15 for bath and nail trim decided to leave him. My wife and I went away for the weekend and left him with a family member. My dog has been hacking and wheezing since Saturday. I'm sure he has kennel cough which sucks because I would hope Petco would check dogs coming in to make sure they don't have something that other dogs can get. I took my dog to the VetCo clinic. I told them I needed vaccines and flea meds. The vet did a "check up" consisting of nothing. My dog got his shots and I was sent home. I had to go back in to get flea meds which they charged me another fee for another "check up" and did nothing. I got 1 prescription and was told I could get more later. I ordered from Petco online and they cancelled my order telling me I need another vet visit. Vet Co is a total scam now. They are a fun group of people that seem to care about animals a lot. The store is very clean and the reptile area is usually pretty clean too which is uncommon for big chain pet stores. I consistently have a problems when ordering their so fresh kitty litter they have two items interchangeable and they never keep the item stocks counted correctly.
