I've been coming here since middle school & I love this restaurant, the only reason I'm given this bad review because they made a mistake in hiring Erika. This girl is so rude. She needs to be fired. She doesn't talk nice to customers. She doesn't seem to even like her job. I've called to place an order through the phone & she's clicked on me a couple times where I get so bothered I go pick up food from another restaurant. They need to look at the cameras because I've seen her on her phone while the business phone is ringing & she decided not to pick up. I just think she is bad for Pete's business. read more

On a hunt for a good chili cheese fries spot, this place was surprisingly pleasant! Amazing cheese pull. I added the juice of the chilli peppers and some salt and I'd give it a solid 9/10. What can I say? This place was wonderful. Great customer service. Greeted with a smile and a joke. The only thing I did was had no restroom available for the customers, and I really wanted to go and wash my hands. This restaurant has old school vibes. Remind me of the 80s. I had to deal with this employee named Erika and she had the nastiest attitude for no reason. Rolled her eyes at me, acted like I was bothering her just by ordering, and straight up slammed my bag on the counter. Like excuse me?? If you hate your job that much, don't take it out on paying customers. The whole vibe was unprofessional, dirty tables, no smiles, just bad energy all around. The owner, Jose, was INCREDIBLY FRIENDLY and HELPFUL, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Love this diner! The restaurant itself may look underwhelming but the food is spectacular! I got the chorizo and eggs burrito without the beans and cilantro. The chorizo is sooo good!!! This burrito was big enough for me to bring home too. It also came with a side of salsa which gave the burrito a nice kick to it. The patty melt was also great! The caramelized onions were my favorite part. The toast also had the nicest crunch to it. Also can I mention, the prices are insanely good for the quality and quantity of food here! Parking can be a bit tough since there's a small parking lot next to the diner. If that's full you'd have to settle for street parking. My favorite place to come for a late night meal. I usually order the grilled chicken sandwich, but I decided to try the cheese quesadilla and fajitas plate today. The quesadilla was bigger than I expected and tasted good! The combination fajitas plate came with meat, chicken, bell peppers, fries, onion rings, and salad. The meat and chicken were very juicy and we received our food in about 10-15 minutes, which is the usual wait time. I usually call and order ahead for pick up, but I've eaten a few times inside. We decided to go out for a late breakfast (10 am ) on a Sunday. Drove by our favorite go to restaurant and the line was 20+ people out the door. Our son was HUNGRY and couldn't make the wait so we drove around and found Pete's burgers. The outside of the restaurant looks like a small town cozy diner. Inside is a tad bit underwhelming BUT don't let that deter you. I had the French toast and eggs breakfast. It is a generous 6 slice portion (I ate 5 - THAT is how good it is). My eggs were cooked just right. My husband had the ham and eggs breakfast and cleaned his entire plate. My son had the pancakes with sausage (there is no turkey option) and egg whites. Memories of this place flooded in when my hubby was craving chili cheese fries. I knew Pete's when I was little, and my parents brought our family to have some great chili cheese fries. They were the best around! The hubby took me to the original Tommy's, disappointed by their chili, I remembered Pete's. Next time the craving hit, we went to Pete's. It looked way different than I remembered. The owner updated this little spot. It would be a regular burger joint if they didn't also serve some very delicious fried chicken, gyro plates, steak dinner, and asada dinner. The service is great and the place is very clean. Burgers are on point, and let's not forget the reason we came here, their amazing chili cheese fries. They are soft and crispy at the same time. Their chili is savory, spicy, chunky, and cheesy the way it should be. All it was missing was some sour cream... maybe that's just for chili! The only thing is the fries are seasoned before they add the chili, and so they were just a tad on the salty side for me, but it makes sense for those rogue chili less fries that you can spare for the ketchup! You know it's a great place when the owner sits down to have his dinner at one of the tables next to the guests. Definitely will come back again! Keep the small local businesses alive! 3.9 stars... nostalgia got me. This is where I ate almost every other day when I was going to school at USC over 20 years ago. The architecture school had a studio off campus that is literally next door to this place so we were spoiled to have this over what was on campus dining which used to be pretty lousy. Honestly back in the days there weren't too many options along Fig either. So in this neighborhood this is definitely a local favorite. The chicken dinner and the special burger (with avocado) are what people rave about this place but I always settled for the gyro and the tacos here. The gyro was one of the best I've tasted in the US and the chicken tacos were phenomenal. For this specific visit after teaching at USC was going to be the gyro combo. I was disappointed on how salty and overdone the fries were because I recalled the fries were pretty awesome. The gyro was definitely the saving grace because it tasted as I remembered it. Yum!! For a hole in the wall place this is definitely a must stop if you're in the USC area unless you want to drive a little further north to K-town where there are a lot more better dining options. We ordered cheese burger (less than 9$) and double cheese burger (less than 11$), a total of less than 20$, with tax roughly 22$. However SHE charged a total of 29$.
