The blueberry pancakes with the lemon butter
    Angelica O.

Came here on my way to a couple of museums. You can tell that is a local favorite, and I can see why. The food was delicious. I ordered blueberry pancakes and it came with a lemon butter then when melted, the pancakes soaked it up and it was the perfect counter flavor. The service was great, everyone was attentive and we got sat down pretty quick. The restaurant ran cold so I'm glad I had a thicker sweater on.

The "very LA" or something like that, I forgot what it was called but it's the crepes with lemon butter and seasonal fruit

Jack and Joe where have you been hiding all these years? They had me hooked for breakfast this morning when I saw that they had Portuguese sausage on the menu, but I'll be a returning customer because of their crepes with whipped lemon butter. Truly the best crepes I've had in Los Angeles, reminded me of how grandma makes them in the old country. Soft, delicate, and delicious. These though were topped with a luxurious whipped lemon butter that was creamy and surprisingly citrusy. The whipped vanilla butter on my husband's French toast was just as good. Jack and Joe are churning out butter for the gods right under all of our noses. I write about this often but Portuguese food is hard to come by in LA and any representation a restaurant might have is always a pleasant surprise for me. The Portuguese sausage here is like a mild linguiça, slightly sweet and charred perfectly. The French toast is made with a "Hawaiian" sweet bread which is also identical to Portuguese masa - real ones know about the significant Portuguese influence throughout Hawaii so this tracks. I don't give 5 stars very lightly but this place has earned them even though the eggs and potatoes were truthfully a little bland. Some spice in the potatoes would certainly go a long way. Next time I'm here, which will be very soon, I'll try the regular pancakes and some hashbrowns perhaps. Will have to get the Portuguese sausage again though of course. Jacks N Joe feels like a small town diner but is surprisingly modern. The counter of police badges from all over the country seems a bit out of place in this south LA breakfast nook, but luckily I was face to face with a lovely picture of a dog (and my husband ig) instead.

I can't believe I've never tried this place before! Came on a Sunday morning with a party of 3. We were told it was going to be a 35-45 min wait. It ended up being close to an hour, which was not a problem. It was also parents weekend at USC that day so we were expecting a wait. As soon as we sat down, staff was very fast and attentive. We ordered right away and got food right away! The pancakes came out super hot and fresh! I ordered the Brooks Blues, and my friends had the Aloha Boy and WTF. We all really enjoyed our pancakes! Super unique flavors and overall just an awesome experience. Also just extremely affordable! Can't wait to come back!

I don't know who Jack n Joe are, but they make excellent flap Jacks with a cup of Joe lol jk. With a name like Jack n Joe, those two items have to be hitters and they did not disappoint. Came here with family for the first time and everything was delicious. I got to try the dakine French toast, roo chocolate chip pancakes, and the loaded potatoes (secret menu item) which were all so good. What I ordered was the combo 1 which included 2 eggs, 2 pancakes (upgraded to ruby belle), 2 bacon (or you can choose sausages), and hash browns (also able to choose jnj potatoes). The place was packed but the service was on point. The server was really nice and the food came out in no time.

I knew that Jacks N Joe was a popular spot as the wait can become long, especially over the weekend, but thankfully, when I went (on a weekday) it was pretty empty and I was able to find parking despite the very limited parking around. I thought the customer service was decent, the prices were reasonable, and the food came out pretty fast. I know these pancakes are often talked about as being some of the best, and I thought they weren't bad, and I was glad to try them.

Jacks N Joe have a great breakfast spot, and ode to classic diner breakfasts with a mild culture twist. It's worth an experience there. The vibe was very simple , open space, with a cornerstone of your favorite fur babies. You can tell this place has connections to dogs and I'm all for it as my dog Bucky is my rock and I love places like this. Service was great, and everyone was very amazing, we had MJ and she made sure we were always tended to. The food came out in good timing and it was all foood. The food was pretty good, but the big stand out for me was the pancakes lol... they were complete perfection. My eggs and hash browns were pretty good though my eggs were not cooked all the way through when I mixed them in everything it all worked out. I did enjoy their potatoes more than the hash browns though. In a nutshell jacks and Joe is a great traditional breakfast diner and we would definitely go back for more.

I was there few months ago, on one of the weekends. The restaurant seemed busy, and lots of good reviews., so I was excited to try their brunch. However, I was very disappointed with the food, it tasted bland, and soggy potatoes, salty egg etc.. The pancake was just okay, nothing tasty. Wouldn't recommend this place.

We came here on a weekend just before 9 am but there was already a line. The parking lot was also full so we had to park a few blocks nearby and it was sort of a trek to walk there. There was a 15-minute wait for a 2-person table but we opted for seats at the bar counter where there was no wait. Our waiter was kind and helpful. But the food was just okay. My partner got the French toast with the Portuguese sausage but the sausage was overcooked and on the tougher side. The avocado toast was very surprising because it was simply avocado on toast with no seasoning or shreddings on top. It was not what I expected and neither did it taste good. The side of mixed fruit was nice though. Overall, it was $40 for our food plus tip, so it's more on the pricey side and for what we got, I'm not sure we would come back and if we did, we would definitely try something else.

When my son has swimming on Sundays at USC, this is a spot that we like to stop for breakfast. The service is quick, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable enough in todays expensive restaurant scene. The pancakes are my favorite, so I would definitely recommend those. The potatoes sound great, but they seem to not be executed to perfection. I think that they may need more seasoning or something. Sausages are also quite good. Overall a nice quick breakfast, but parking is a bit tough. There are only a few spots in the complex, but there is also a tire center next store that is closed on Sundays. If they are closed, I was told that it is OK to park there, so that is what we did. It was not a problem. Very casual atmosphere, open kitchen, good food, and quick service. What else could you want for a fast Sunday breakfast!

    WTF pancakes

Surprised to find a brunch restaurant that's so crowded just near USC! Right across my apartment!!! Why didn't I find it sooner? TAT I will come back again! We had the WTF pancakes-- really good! Ordered an omelette-- also good! The smoothie tastes also great!! And they're not that expensive. The place was so crowded on Saturday morning, but the line was not too bad -- we waited for 15-20 minutes to get seated.

i thought this meal was very underwhelming. i ordered the eat your veggie omelette. i don't like it when the ingredients aren't incorporated into the egg because then it's just flat eggs wrapped around veggies. also, the eggs were rubbery. i thought the potatoes were just okay, nothing special. service was great. we were seated right away and food came out fast. there's a small parking lot which is a huge plus. i won't be coming back though.

Neighborhood spot for breakfast located near the West Adams area. Serving up all of the traditional favorites such as pancakes, omelets and breakfast sandwiches, some with a new twist like Hawaiian Bread French Toast, Oreo Stuffed Pancakes and crazy combos. This place gets crowded often, and quick, especially on Saturdays. The parking lot is small but the food is great. There are high and low tables with booths along the walls. There is also a counter. I like making my own omelette, the red velvet pancakes and the Jack and Joe potatoes but everything is good here. .

    Jacked up breakfast sandwich.

We couldn't be seated right away given that we were late, and the wait ended being an extra 15 minutes longer for our party of 7. They really made it work for us, so we were very appreciative. Parking: Our group split up between $8 and $10 nearby lots for the whole day. All within a 5 minute walk away. Location: Right across the street from the Original LA Flower Market warehouse. Fun activity to do after eating. Also had a bunch of other flower and plant shops nearby. Restrooms: Shared with the Flower Market. Clean, and no need for a code. Just push the door. Food: Last but not least - scrumptious food! Plating is beautiful, and food was very satisfying. I got the chicken + waffles, and it was delicious with the honey and butter glaze. They focus way too much on what the food or reels look like and forget that they still need to serve the customer. The service was slow. Our server, Brea, treated us like a large group (which meant an automatic 20% gratuity), but she didn't take all of our orders at the same time. Instead, she made us wait as if we were separate tables. She took the orders from two sections of our group and then just left. We thought she was simply putting menus away and would come right back. Nope. She cleaned other tables, cashed out another table, and we eventually had to wave her down just to place the rest of our order. The food was good, but not good enough to overlook the service. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The first few bites were delicious, but after a while the grits became a little too salty for my liking. Overall, I'm glad I tried it at least once. My husband ordered the Waffle Chicken Sandwich, which was really good. The sauce tasted similar to buffalo sauce, and it paired well with the sweetness of the waffle. Unfortunately, the wait for our checks was just as bad. Our server would make eye contact with us and then continue doing other things. It was ridiculous how little she checked on us after taking our order. The tables and chairs were already uncomfortable, so having to sit there even longer waiting to pay was frustrating. The only reason this is a 3-star review and not lower is because the food was really good and well seasoned. I would not come back again. Javier was the one who finally helped us pay our check and get out of there. I wish we could have removed the automatic 20% gratuity based on the service we received, but at that point it was what it was.

An Absolute Masterpiece of a Lunch!…read more My friend was visiting from New York, and I wanted to take her somewhere truly special for lunch. Since it was our first time at République, we didn't quite know what to expect, but we were completely blown away! From the atmosphere to the service and, of course, the food--everything was flawless. The Main Event Blueberry Pancake: My friend ordered this, and it was huge and incredibly delicious. A total crowd-pleaser. Filipino Pork Belly Adobo: I ordered this and was so impressed by how rich and deeply flavorful it was. Absolutely delicious. World-Class Service & Hospitality The service here is incredibly efficient, but what really made our day was the staff. Rambo took care of us and he was fantastic--so pleasant, attentive, and proactive with everything we needed. We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting the owner! It was so impressive to see her on the floor working just as hard as the rest of the team. She was incredibly nice and you can tell she truly cares; we watched her personally ensure the quality of the dishes was on point before they ever left the kitchen. That level of dedication explains why this place is so successful. Do Not Skip Dessert! Before you leave, you must hit the pastry counter. We grabbed a few things to try, and they were sinfully good: Kouign-Amann: Flaky, caramelized perfection. Basque Cheesecake: Rich, creamy, and beautifully baked. Chewy Chocolate Cookie: Perfectly textured and decadent. We had such a beautiful experience here. République lived up to the hype and then some. We will definitely be back, and we're bringing our friends and family next time!

The food was INCREDIBLE and I was SO pleasantly surprised by how much food there was! We ended up with soooooo many leftovers! Family style meals always make me a little nervous, but the portions were plentiful and all of our guests left completely stuffed. The bread and butter was a standout, as well as the corn puff pastry appetizer (I can't remember exactly what it was called!). The steak and chicken main courses were to die for and the strawberry tiramasu was incredible. I could go on and on about the food. It really exceeded our expectations. Jared, our server was WONDERFUL. He was so attentive and on top of things. He communicated with my husband and I whenever he needed to and made our entire dinner so seamless and fun. The only downside to the experience was in planning the evening. I struggled a bit when it came to communicating with Sandra in the days/weeks leading up to our dinner. I didn't feel like we were a priority and often had to call or email multiple times to get a response. I found that to be very frustrating, especially because it was such an important part of our wedding and in the days leading up to getting married, the last thing I wanted to be doing was waiting on an email from the restaurant or hunting down a response about our beverage menu. I was also really bummed to see that when we got to the restaurant, our dinner menu had the wrong date printed on it. I wanted to bring one of the menus home as a keepsake, but it felt pointless when I saw the typo. There were also drinks on the beverage menu that we had never discussed, which was another disappointment. It ultimately didn't ruin our overall experience, but I think it's worth noting for other people planning larger dinner parties at Republique because I do wish a little more care had been taken on the restaurant's end while planning our dinner.
