Tried this place for the 1st time today and man it exceeded my expectations! I ordered the boneless rib bowl (comes with rice) The lady at the register was so kind to us as well. Definitely will be coming back!

Cozy little place! First time here and I felt very welcomed , the teriyaki was amazing definitely coming back here

Second time here! Ordered a single bulgogi burger & combination burrito! Food: First time trying the combination burrito and it was thicckk! It had a sweet & spicy flavor- they didnt skimp on the fixings! Intended to save half for later and realized I was already down to the last bite. Oops! The bulgogi burger is just as good as the first time I tried it! For a single burger, I felt like the portions were perfect, the flavor of bulgogi leaves a smokey sweet taste! Ambiance: no frills. A couple bar style seating and a few tables. Service: The service is quick & straightforward. The lady (may be the owner?) also suggested some rice bowls to try for next time. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu.

When hot food is packed into a sealed to-go box, it tends to get soggy over time, which really affects the flavor and texture of the rice. Using vented containers could help keep the food fresher. The Teriyaki Shrimp would be even better if it had more of the distinct teriyaki flavor that matches the name, and the Chili Burger would taste great with more chili sauce on top. Our group of about ten people had a hard time enjoying the meal this time, but with fresher ingredients and a few small changes, the food could be much more enjoyable.

Yummy!

Grilled Pineapple Burger (Single)

The Short Ribs bowl is the best in town -- tender meat, great sauce, and perfect with rice. The large size is big enough to share. Friendly staff and consistently great food. Highly recommend! The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The grilled pineapple burger is also excellent -- well balanced, with the pineapple adding a refreshing touch. Fries are good, but the onion rings are especially delicious.

Galbi Short Ribs (Plate), bulgogi bowl, Shrimp Basket
Zoey K.

The short rib plate and fried shrimp basket were so good!! The bulgogi bowl was also good, but the first two mentioned were my favorite. The portions are pretty generous, and the employees were friendly. Would definitely be back to try their burgers as well!

Galbi Bowl

Walked in during lunch and walked up to the cashier with no greeting. I spoke to her in Korean for the Galbi bowl for here. She immediately lit up asking me, "The one with the bone in, right?" I told her no the one smaller portion. Within an instant she spoke in a condescending tone of voice, "Oh, the one with the less meat." I kept a friendly composer and asked why she would say it like that. Without taking accountability of her actions, Christine or Christina blamed it on her lack of Korean proficiency. At that point, I didn't want to continue the conversation and sarcastically replied, " Is that so? " When the food came out, she had packed in a bag for to go when I had told her I wanted it for here. Again no apologizing or acknowledging the mistake, her tone of voice flattened again as she said, "I'll take it over it to you." The food itself as you can see in the picture isn't much. Perhaps 80% rice 15% meat and those sad pieces of brocolli and two chilies for $18 and some change. Some pieces were purely fat pieces and tough too. I used to come here all the time when it was under the previous owners, it was always packed and busy with hospitality existing. Money hungry business owners tend to forget about that basic principle nowadays. I won't be coming back.

We walked-in on a weekday brunch but def recommend making a reservation to make sure things are smooth. FOOD Look, a lot of hotels gave up on their food (especially for the ones who know their place is aesthetic). Cara Cara didn't give up on their food taste and quality, it's a vibey brunch spot for sure. I love the wide variety of selections on the menu, there are plenty of options. Short Rib Barbacoa Tacos (4/5): Decent, quite yummy. Comes with 2 tacos originally. I add extra 3rd one as server were asking, thought I may as well add it. Meat is quite tender and soft, not bad, would have asked for hot sauce to make it better. Porcini-Rubbed Steak (4.2/5): Not bad! Had it in medium rare, quite tender (didn't expect it to be tender as most hotel over cook their steaks). Comes with chimichurri sauce, nice. SERVICE Queenie is the best!! She is friendly, attentive and knows around the menu. Delivers up to standard hospitality, no pretentious attitude from receptionist either- nice! I hope they maintain their service quality. AMBIENCE I personally prefer the view in here over the Perch rooftop, it's not as spacious as Perch's rooftop, but the interior and decor are better- in my opinion. Curious to come back at night time for a cocktail or two with the view in DTLA! OVERALL I give this place a 5 star not because it's just a very nice place to sit down nicely- have a brunch or some drinks and admire the view. Both of the brunch spots in Beverly Hills Hotel are gonna cost 2x what you pay in here and you still get no city view, and also food quality and service sucks there. Food here is not disappointing at all, it's definitely not one of those "food is disgusting, views are all they got"-kinda place. Their food is delicious, we didn't hesitate to clear up our plates. Worth visiting at least once, if you don't like the food, get a picture and you will still be happy! Definitely coming back to check out the views at night over a cocktail or dinner.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

There's street parking and something that resembles a parking lot around back but I'll just say - if you know the area, have fun and good luck. Sat at the bar so service was excellent. Friendly. Attentive but not in a hovering sort of way. There's only so far to walk behind the bar so looking at the levels of drinks isn't really a stretch. There's other seating too - tables and booths. Music playing - not so loud you can't hear others in your party talking. A TV was on, but I don't recall if there was more than one - mentioning it in case you're thinking of going to watch sporting events. And food is served. See pics. It's not gourmet but definitely great as bar food. I inhaled the pepperoni fries and the tacos weren't bad as well. But I was there for drinks and I love the two for one special. The pizza was even better than described, with mozzarella, fontina, truffle peccorino, creme fraiche, truffle mushroom pate on a perfectly cooked crust. This was topped with a soft cooked egg and freshly shaved Sabatino black truffles. Although the truffles were shaved across the large restaurant, we could smell it from our table! I normally prefer to avoid most "truffle" anything due to questionable quality and its tendency to overpower any other taste, but this one was the OG! The fresh truffle shavings along with the truffle pate added a pleasant earthiness to the rich and salty cheeses. We accepted the waiter's offer to spread the egg yolk over the pizza. Best to let the pro do it. Adding a soft cooked egg to almost anything will elevate it. I definitely recommend this pizza! The portobello fries had a yummy thin crust that stayed crispy throughout the meal. They were placed upright in a holder so also stayed warm. Of course no visit here would be complete without going to the bakery. We got some macaroons for the road, including a giant raspberry one with fresh raspberries that provided a bit of heaven during our flight home. Still stands-up to the hype after all these years…read more If "Trendy" was a restaurant, Bestia would easily be in top contention, even after being around for more than a decade. That says a lot. Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. I would definitely come back because of how amazing Radu & Dani are. Years after the hype, the vibe is still very much happening at Bestia.
