    Combination Burrito
    Katherine G.

Second time here! Ordered a single bulgogi burger & combination burrito! Food: First time trying the combination burrito and it was thicckk! It had a sweet & spicy flavor- they didnt skimp on the fixings! Intended to save half for later and realized I was already down to the last bite. Oops! The bulgogi burger is just as good as the first time I tried it! For a single burger, I felt like the portions were perfect, the flavor of bulgogi leaves a smokey sweet taste! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: no frills. A couple bar style seating and a few tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: The service is quick & straightforward. The lady (may be the owner?) also suggested some rice bowls to try for next time. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu.

Tried this place for the 1st time today and man it exceeded my expectations! I ordered the boneless rib bowl (comes with rice) The lady at the register was so kind to us as well. Definitely will be coming back!

When hot food is packed into a sealed to-go box, it tends to get soggy over time, which really affects the flavor and texture of the rice. Using vented containers could help keep the food fresher. The Teriyaki Shrimp would be even better if it had more of the distinct teriyaki flavor that matches the name, and the Chili Burger would taste great with more chili sauce on top. Our group of about ten people had a hard time enjoying the meal this time, but with fresher ingredients and a few small changes, the food could be much more enjoyable.

    Grilled Pineapple Burger (Single)

The Short Ribs bowl is the best in town -- tender meat, great sauce, and perfect with rice. The large size is big enough to share. Friendly staff and consistently great food. Highly recommend! The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The grilled pineapple burger is also excellent -- well balanced, with the pineapple adding a refreshing touch. Fries are good, but the onion rings are especially delicious.

Food was good. Prices are exceptional. Service was good. Cashier was nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean and organized dining space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No complaints. Tight parking lot tho.

The small drink and watered down ranch

Tried to give this place a fair shake. But let's just start with the order Double Cheese burger with fries n a drink. When I asked for ketchup and mustard added they said they can only put it on the side... what? Um okay. Get my food and the drink was the size of a toddler sipping cup. I ordered a side of ranch and I'm almost positive it was watered down. The burger it self wasn't fresh, you can tell it's like a store frozen patty cooked. The bacon was Burnt, it just simply wasn't worth $14+. Lesson learned. Buy at your own risk

    Yummy!

It's a walk-up bar, which already gives it a unique, casual vibe--but what really makes it stand out is the crowd. The people here are eccentric in the best way: a mix of creatives, professionals unwinding after work, and groups just looking to have a great time. It creates an atmosphere that's lively, interesting, and never boring. The bartenders deserve a shoutout because the service is consistently on point. They're friendly, attentive, and know how to keep things moving even when it gets busy. You can tell they take pride in what they're serving. One of the best features of Bar Prank is the layout. There's a ton of seating, which makes it perfect for just about any situation--whether you're coming solo for a quick drink, meeting friends after work, or pulling up with a big group ready to take over a section. Add in the TVs around the bar, and it's an easy choice if you want a laid-back spot to catch a game or just hang out. Now let's talk drinks. During Golden Hour, the Old Fashioned is an absolute steal at $10. I tried it both smoky and regular, and both versions were excellent--smooth, flavorful, and well-balanced. You really can't go wrong with either. The food also holds its own. Whether you're grabbing chicken strips or just looking for something to snack on with your drinks, it hits the spot and complements the overall experience. I used to frequent Bar Prank a few years ago when I lived downtown, and coming back recently, I can honestly say it's just as good as I remember--if not better. It's one of those dependable spots that delivers every time. If you're in DTLA and looking for a fun, versatile bar with great drinks, solid food, and a memorable crowd, Bar Prank is definitely worth checking out.

This past visit I came with a large group and was still seated immediately. I didn't realize just how large it is inside, as I usually am towards the front or on the small front patio. ANYWAY The Korean wings were very good but admittedly could have been a bit spicier. The loaded fries had a bit too much melty cheese on top that oversaturated the other ingredients. The chicken quesadilla was I enjoyed but was a little basic. Last time I was here before this I had a chicken tikka quesadilla which I think was a more inventive dish that is certainly more memorable than this one. Small critiques but I do very much enjoy District and will one day come not just for happy hour. The cocktail of the day is usually good!

I wasn't a fan of their margarita with a splash of soda, so they made another one without hesitation and it was terrific--well balanced. It wasn't too tart nor too sweet. I had been to The Bloc several times before but I had never noticed District's location until I took the Metro train and exited the station and passed it. No rooftop view or wonderful food can change the way you are made to feel. I knew it wasn't just us when a nearby table made a comment "good luck" when trying to get our server, Tony, to come back to finish placing our order and another table with a similar comment when we needed a pen from our server who seemingly avoided for 15+ min after our check was tossed on our table with no thanks or any words. Sad, because the food here.. 5 STARS!!! Hands down some of the best food! Other staff also... 5 STARS!! So welcoming and friendly like the entire hotel staff being guests at the hotel. Our server Tony was 2 stars as he started off ok but ran away mid order thinking it was the loud music and did get drinks delivered very quickly. When he returned with drinks my son was able to finish his menu order that was missed. Tony did explain the small kitchen and items would arrive at different times.. all good and things came out quicker and in sync more than expected. Allergies were noted and accommodated so that was appreciated. After food was delivered and we had time to enjoy our meal, the manager (I presume) was welcoming and interested in asking how we enjoyed our meal. It was all wonderful and told him so.. once he left however, it was as though we didn't exist or were of little importance. Tony came back and tossed the check on the table and turned away quickly, never stopping to see if we actually needed anything else. Had to get his attention to order dessert. My son ordered the strawberry cheesecake bar and I ordered an espresso martini.. this wasn't on the menu and I would NOT recommend an espresso martini. One of my favorite drinks I've had from MANY places. This one was all VERY strong espresso. It looked like a martini but there was NO sweetness of vanilla, chocolate or any other sweet flavor. There was no smooth finish of vodka... literally very harsh espresso with nothing else. I put it to the side hoping our server would come back. My son finished his dessert entirely and we waited... and waited. My drink sat full on the side of the table and Tony tossed our check down without question and turned to run away. I had to nearly chase after him to get his attention when I explained my drink was not good and just wanted it removed from my bill. He asked if I wanted them to remake it and I said no, I wasn't even sure it was the drink I ordered. He did have it removed but literally came back with the check and tossed it on the table and ran away quickly again without a pen so we couldn't sign to our room and leave. It dragged painfully on and on ruining what could have been an amazing experience. My son had to finally get up and ask for a pen which Tony gave him with no words and seemed annoyed. So odd and lacking in hospitality. Is this normal at an upscale restaurant to not care if your customers are satisfied? Coming from the Bay Area and dining at other upscale restaurants I just haven't ever felt "less than" like I did here. I sill left 20% but Tony, I am a 30-50% tipper and you judged us wrong. We may not have been in sequins and tux's after coming off an 8 hour drive and in comfort clothes, but deserved better. Serving is a demanding job, and I appreciate hardworking hospitality professionals as I was once one in my younger years. Customer interactions significantly impact a guest's experience and a server that is dismissive or unfriendly does not reflect the level of service I would expect from a business with such a great atmosphere. Food: -Cara Cara chopped salad - honestly best salad I've had anywhere hands down.. flavor, crunch, zest -Golden Hour Burger for son commented on how juicy and flavorful it was even cooked Med-well -Truffle Mac n cheese was the item that didn't get ordered as Tony ran away too quickly, but was ok. Was drier than expected and not as creamy and cheesy as expected. -Ragu tomato pizza had a most light and flavorful crust, my son loved it more than I did so he finished it as the tomato sauce was a bit much for me and I was more than happy to keep to my chopped salad

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. There's street parking and something that resembles a parking lot around back but I'll just say - if you know the area, have fun and good luck. Sat at the bar so service was excellent. Friendly. Attentive but not in a hovering sort of way. There's only so far to walk behind the bar so looking at the levels of drinks isn't really a stretch. There's other seating too - tables and booths. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was eating my food in this establishment several months ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is kinda small and tight. Good luck with street parking if you can't find any spots in their lot. They also have valet parking for $13. Tip: Make your reservation 2 - 3 months in advance to get great seating because they get booked up very quickly. Food and Drinks: One of my close male friends and I came here to celebrate both of our birthdays. Bestia is hands down one of the best Italian restaurants here in SoCal. For drinks, my friend and I got the Poderi San Lazzaro. This is a dry red wine from the Marche region of Italy. It is known for its intense ruby color, red berry aromas, and a palate with juicy acidity, soft tannins, and a distinct saline minerality. It's a good pairing for roasted meats and grilled steak. And as for food, my friend and I ordered the roasted bone marrow, oxtail alla vaccinara, 26 oz Margaret river wagyu ribeye, and fromage blanc mousse. To note, all pastas were cooked perfectly al dente. The roasted bone marrow is a signature appetizer served over a bed of spinach gnocchetti. We got to scoop the rich marrow from the bone directly onto the pasta and mix it in table-side. The marrow coats the gnocchetti to create an emulsified, glossy sauce balanced by toasted breadcrumbs and aged balsamic. This was a life changing and mind blowing dish. The oxtail alla vaccinara is a renowned, elevated take on the classic Roman braised oxtail stew. This decadent pasta dish features tender braised meat, wide pappardelle, rich brown butter, pine nuts, and a touch of cocoa powder. The richness of the meat and brown butter is cut through with creamy dollops of burrata cheese and crunchy pine nuts. So yummy! The 26 oz Margaret river wagyu ribeye is a dish that features a massive 26 oz cut of Australian Wagyu, served with burnt onion, fermented mushroom cream, radish, and poppy seeds. This had a melt-in-your-mouth kind of texture, and savory earthiness from the mushroom and onion accompaniments. The ribeye was unmistakably rich and buttery flavor. Get this and you won't regret it. The fromage blanc mousse is a seasonal dessert. This is an incredibly airy, semi-sweet dessert that lands halfway between a light cheesecake and a ricotta. It is served with a pecan graham crust, and candied quince. It's like a fancy smancy cheesecake. Staff: Radu was very helpful, kind, friendly, and attentive to my friend and I.
