We went here on Easter for breakfast. Their service was quick to sit us and make the food once ordered. It took longer for a waitress to take our order but almost every table was full. And they were quick to come around and refill coffee and water. Despite it being so busy the atmosphere was still enjoyable and it was not too loud. The majority of the seating is 4 person tables so it may not great for larger groups. They also have some limited bar-style seats. For the food, the huckleberry French toast was fantastic. It was clearly made with a different batter because the toast was pink and had the sauce on top as pictured. But note that this was one of the specials that day. The strawberry French toast on the regular menu did not come with any sauce. It was just topped with strawberries and came with butter syrup. This is my second time coming here and I will have to say the price for the food you get is a SUPERB deal! We came during prime brunch time (which is when I went) you have to wait outside and the wait time wasn't bad, we only had to wait 15-20 min for a table. I love no frill greasy spoon breakfast spots and this one fits the bill! The only downside like most breakfast places is the wait. Arrived on a Saturday morning at 11:30 didn't leave the restaurant till 2pm. Ordered the Chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. It was great! I like how big their chicken fried steak is and that it comes with 3 eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit (i opted for sourdough) for $13.95, that's cheaper than other places ive been to in the Seattle area. I always ask for my gravy on the side because I like to dip, however their gravy is very peppery and I am not a huge fan of it. The service was good and our waitress was nice. There were several times where we asked for things that were forgotten, however I think that's because we were at an outside spot. I would definitely return. Went to Pete's Egg Nest for an early Mother's Day breakfast. PEN is a cute little restaurant that sits along Greenwood Avenue. Parking can be difficult, but if you go early enough, you won't have a problem. We arrived around 8:30am and the restaurant was only about half full. It took a little bit of time to get our order submitted, which was a little puzzling because the restaurant was only half full, but we were willing to wait it out since the food was supposed to be fantastic. The restaurant filled up in the 20-30 minutes that we waited for our food, plus there were quite a few food pickups. I say all that to say that the key is getting to the restaurant early! The food was delicious. The portions are definitely worth the cost. The cost is comparable to most places in Seattle, but you get a lot more food. I got the bacon and egg scramble. It comes with hashbrowns and toast. Jam is provided as well if you'd like. My partner got the chicken fried steak scramble. He said, in between giant mouth fulls of food, that it was amazing. The restaurant is small, so the space is a little cramped, and it can get very loud, very quick, so if any of those things bother you, I suggest eating outside (they have a few tables) or getting a to-go order. This is a local cafe that I went for breakfast during a weekday, cozy ambiance. Had a "Bacon and Cheese Omelet". Service was very good and welcoming. My omelet was very tasty and filling. A good way to start out the day. For portion size I would say it was a good value for the money. No parking lot, only street parking. Bacon was 2 huge slices, not to salty, and just crisp enough without being overdone. The French Toast was the star of the show. Every seat was filled in the cafe but we moved to a table after a short 10 minute wait . The staff is efficient laid back and friendly. The food was great with hearty portions and the menu complete and predictable . Some items that I don't see on the east coast were featured on the menu Swedish pancakes, a Gyro meat filled omelette a Mexican breakfast, also huevos ranchero's. They have seating inside and outside but since we're here in December, no tables were set up outside . My only issue was that the coffee was on the weak side - that might of just been our serving. We got there about 9:30, which turned out to be perfect timing because there were a few people waiting for tables by the time we left an hour later.
