Undercooked Pete's Super Burger with Cheese

Drive thru staff is unpleasant. I come here once in a great while for memories sake. The frozen fish is good but not great. Fries are limp but go well with the red sauce. Cash only business with an ATM on site.

The Pete's Fish & Chips in Mesa is always popping so I thought I'd finally give it a try (except this location is closer to me). I was surprised to see how low the reviews were, at this location and the Mesa location. It seems most of the gripes are the long wait time. I attempted to call in my order to alleviate this concern however the line was always busy (and I called 6-7 times at different times). Okay, I decided to drive by and see if the line is as terrible as I've read. 7:45 on a Tuesday night and there was only one truck ahead of me. Score! I ordered the 5 piece fish and chips to share with bf. It does not come with tartar sauce automatically so I paid .45 for 2oz. It came out to $10.59 total. Cash only! (A bit inconvenient in this day and time, although there are ATMs on site). It only took about 5 minutes after placing my order to get it. I unveiled the hot goodness when I got home. It came with Pete's sauce which is/resembles cocktail sauce. Not my fave personally. The fish itself is square which is a bit odd/different than I am used to. It was sprinkled with salt. It was hot and crispy and I could taste the fish! The fries were good but they could have used another minute or so. Overall I can see why Pete's is so popular. Definitely give it a try if the line isn't long!

This place is literally the best place to get fried fish, and yes, it is absolutely worth the drive. It has the perfect amount of crispness, and the hot sauce it comes with is just amazing. Please note, this place is cash only; but that is also worth it!

This is a must if your looking for food that can't honestly be healthy for you or your arteries. I love Pete's fish and chips! The fish is always hot and cripsy and this location was no exception. It was amazing. I always get a two piece of fish with fries and a drink. We went through the drive thru and although it was hard for us to hear the employee on the intercom, she got us through quickly. Prices are reasonable. They have other items as well that are a must try!

Wtf is this ???? It definitely doesn't look consistent with the fried shrimp from any other location
    JustMy2Cents S.

Literally have been in the drive through for a full hour waiting on and order of ONE. I'm 7th in line and it has not moved for over 35 min. And it moved by one car in the past hour. This is ridiculous. Seemed like they're paying more attention to things besides the cars in the lines. I can't think of a reason it would take THIS Long for only 7 cars. Get your sh*t together KAREN!

I cannot believe how the shrimp have shrunk in size. They used to be as big as the styrofoam plate lengthwise. Today they are bite size

Tradition Place If you've never been it's a good place I like the one in Glendale honestly this location I have most recently visited the staff were friendly but unfortunately my fries were over cooked literally hard more than a crunch and tons n tons of salt on my chicken tenders I'm allergic to seafood and still come here yet this is my first time coming to this location I doubt I'll be back unless I want high blood pressure lol I'll stick to Glendale forsure

You are nasty Pete, especially here in Tempe. Fast food, that doesn't come out that fast, served by greasy staff in a greasy space.

I'd say - If you want a decent, light on self and pocket - this place wins: the meals are so good that you even have room for dessert and not feel guilty.. you do get the guilty pleasure moment for their standout dish - butter cake. I am little surprised the fish and chips don't get a lot of praise here and it def is praise worthy! Their fried calamari is a little on the oiler side.. but their Clam chowder, oh that compensates well! Now the drinks are another thing I ordered the Two by the sea, oh, for a weekday afternoon that drink was SMOOTH! Going to def the dinner service sometime for sure! I couldn't even get them to soften in the soup. I had to scoop them out. I know they didn't cook the oyster crackers, but maybe pop open a bag every once in a while and test them. Main dish, my favorite, was the Sauteed N'Awlins BBQ Shrimp. I've been getting this dish for years. This time, the shrimp seemed maybe a little overcooked, or something. The meat of the shrimp was becoming a little stringy, but they were still very tender. So, I still enjoyed it. This has always been our choice for a birthday meal, either mine or another family member's. We NEVER tell the staff because we don't want an embarrassing fuss. This year, I had read online that they don't do singing here. So, I mentioned it was my birthday, and I got a free Butter Cake for dessert--another old favorite. Service was top-notch, as always.

Over the years & after multiple visits, there has never been a bad one. The food is always delicious. IMPORTANT NOTE: the pasties are pre-made; you cannot ask for substitutes or to leave this or that item out. Do not worry, however, as I am picky (don't like onions or peppers), but I have never had an issue with finding something to eat here. The house made bread is absolutely aaaah-mazing. Hell, I could eat multiple plates of it alone for my meal. Thick slices of goodness. The drinks are hit or miss, though we have never had an issue with a simple Old Fashioned. :-) It's a bit dark inside, they have a substantial patio on the north side of the building, and the staff has always been friendly. The parking is not bad as it is part of small strip mall, but don't expect to always be able to park immediately close to Cornish (especially during busy times). Food was ready in 15 minutes. We got the lobster roll which is Connecticut style-my preference-with lots of butter! They had a fish and chips special so we got that too. And a pb&j cookie for my birthday! My husband very recently broke his leg so picking up Chulas with some great lobster was a nice treat! It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Being the desert, the quality of Seafood is important, since we are nowhere near seawater and the reputable Chula Seafood is here to serve us, desert dwellers, well. TUNA MELT- it's refreshing to have a tuna sandwich that is not canned tuna. There is a chimichiri sauce that you can get to drizzle on it that really gives a depth of flavor. The bread was a nice sourdough that was not just a cheap white bread and did not get soggy. However, with my sandwich, the bread was burnt so that bitterness ruined the flavor of the delicate fish. My pictures shows a few burnt spots, but on the bottom side was way more burnt and it was like they put the most burnt side on the bottom to hide it and hope I didn't notice. I did not appreciate this. CLAM CHOWDER- creamy and more on the fluid consistency, being made with fresh clams makes the difference. Not the best chowder i've had, but was pretty decent. The fish variety can vary with seasons, but it is nice to get different choices throughout the year. There are limited offerings here compared to the bigger location across town, as far as menu and fish selection. But for a small store it is a good place to get some quality seafood to take home or sit and eat. Check out the great happy hour deals

This place looked like it did a good seafood boil and was located near where our hotel was. Upon entering we were greeted and sat right away. He ordered a shrimp basket while I ordered my usual snow crab. Heads up, all the supplies will be brought in the bottom of the discard bucket like gloves, lemons, and crab crackers. I wasn't aware of this, and placed all the discarded items on top of it while eating bareheaded as I didn't see supplies, and no one was around to ask. Usually places will bring on the side, and I wish I was told that in advance when it was brought to the table. It made for quite the mess, but if we return I'll know for next time. Once our server returned to check in after 10+ minutes that's when we were advised, and I adjusted though I had put my boil bag in there so most had been soiled.
