Undercooked Pete's Super Burger with Cheese

Drive thru staff is unpleasant. I come here once in a great while for memories sake. The frozen fish is good but not great. Fries are limp but go well with the red sauce. Cash only business with an ATM on site.

5 piece fish and chips

The Pete's Fish & Chips in Mesa is always popping so I thought I'd finally give it a try (except this location is closer to me). I was surprised to see how low the reviews were, at this location and the Mesa location. It seems most of the gripes are the long wait time. I attempted to call in my order to alleviate this concern however the line was always busy (and I called 6-7 times at different times). Okay, I decided to drive by and see if the line is as terrible as I've read. 7:45 on a Tuesday night and there was only one truck ahead of me. Score! I ordered the 5 piece fish and chips to share with bf. It does not come with tartar sauce automatically so I paid .45 for 2oz. It came out to $10.59 total. Cash only! (A bit inconvenient in this day and time, although there are ATMs on site). It only took about 5 minutes after placing my order to get it. I unveiled the hot goodness when I got home. It came with Pete's sauce which is/resembles cocktail sauce. Not my fave personally. The fish itself is square which is a bit odd/different than I am used to. It was sprinkled with salt. It was hot and crispy and I could taste the fish! The fries were good but they could have used another minute or so. Overall I can see why Pete's is so popular. Definitely give it a try if the line isn't long!

This place is literally the best place to get fried fish, and yes, it is absolutely worth the drive. It has the perfect amount of crispness, and the hot sauce it comes with is just amazing. Please note, this place is cash only; but that is also worth it!

This is a must if your looking for food that can't honestly be healthy for you or your arteries. I love Pete's fish and chips! The fish is always hot and cripsy and this location was no exception. It was amazing. I always get a two piece of fish with fries and a drink. We went through the drive thru and although it was hard for us to hear the employee on the intercom, she got us through quickly. Prices are reasonable. They have other items as well that are a must try!

Wtf is this ???? It definitely doesn't look consistent with the fried shrimp from any other location
JustMy2Cents S.

Literally have been in the drive through for a full hour waiting on and order of ONE. I'm 7th in line and it has not moved for over 35 min. And it moved by one car in the past hour. This is ridiculous. Seemed like they're paying more attention to things besides the cars in the lines. I can't think of a reason it would take THIS Long for only 7 cars. Get your sh*t together KAREN!

Bite size Shrimp

I cannot believe how the shrimp have shrunk in size. They used to be as big as the styrofoam plate lengthwise. Today they are bite size

Tradition Place If you've never been it's a good place I like the one in Glendale honestly this location I have most recently visited the staff were friendly but unfortunately my fries were over cooked literally hard more than a crunch and tons n tons of salt on my chicken tenders I'm allergic to seafood and still come here yet this is my first time coming to this location I doubt I'll be back unless I want high blood pressure lol I'll stick to Glendale forsure

Just picked up an order. It's not what it used to be. The fish is pretty processed it was nice and crispy but they forgot the tarter sauce.

I rate this a 4.7/5 on yelp. They start you off with a soft sourdough, and the butter.. ohh the…read morebutter, just magical. I'd say - If you want a decent, light on self and pocket - this place wins: the meals are so good that you even have room for dessert and not feel guilty.. you do get the guilty pleasure moment for their standout dish - butter cake. I am little surprised the fish and chips don't get a lot of praise here and it def is praise worthy! Their fried calamari is a little on the oiler side.. but their Clam chowder, oh that compensates well! Now the drinks are another thing I ordered the Two by the sea, oh, for a weekday afternoon that drink was SMOOTH! Going to def the dinner service sometime for sure! But, don't SKIMP out on this place when in Tempe marketplace. The seafood is fresh, the atmosphere is amazing and old schooled inside and the service is quick!

I couldn't even get them to soften in the soup. I had to scoop them out. I know they didn't cook the oyster crackers, but maybe pop open a bag every once in a while and test them. Main dish, my favorite, was the Sauteed N'Awlins BBQ Shrimp. I've been getting this dish for years. This time, the shrimp seemed maybe a little overcooked, or something. The meat of the shrimp was becoming a little stringy, but they were still very tender. So, I still enjoyed it. This has always been our choice for a birthday meal, either mine or another family member's. We NEVER tell the staff because we don't want an embarrassing fuss. This year, I had read online that they don't do singing here. So, I mentioned it was my birthday, and I got a free Butter Cake for dessert--another old favorite. Service was top-notch, as always.

Could Pier 88 be my new favorite local spot for seafood boil???…read more Yes... yes it is! We ordered three pounds of head-on shrimp. Spice level was medium and went with the 88 Special seasoning (a combination of cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper) - AMAZING flavor!! Perhaps my favorite aspect was that their seasonings were not overly salty - I feel that most other seafood boil restaurants just include way too much salt in their seasonings... but at Pier 88, you can really indulge without feeling like you're going to end up with high blood pressure! Extras included corn, sausage, and potatoes... and those were all delicious as well! I couldn't have been happier with this meal... so I will definitely return again soon! Being celiac, I did not have to worry about gluten being in anything we ordered! Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS***** Gluten-free rating: *****FIVE STARS*****

This place looked like it did a good seafood boil and was located near where our hotel was. Upon entering we were greeted and sat right away. He ordered a shrimp basket while I ordered my usual snow crab. Heads up, all the supplies will be brought in the bottom of the discard bucket like gloves, lemons, and crab crackers. I wasn't aware of this, and placed all the discarded items on top of it while eating bareheaded as I didn't see supplies, and no one was around to ask. Usually places will bring on the side, and I wish I was told that in advance when it was brought to the table. It made for quite the mess, but if we return I'll know for next time. Once our server returned to check in after 10+ minutes that's when we were advised, and I adjusted though I had put my boil bag in there so most had been soiled. As for the food, he liked his shrimp while I thought the crab was okay in flavor/spice. It didn't really standout out like other places I've been to recently, but overall I would return if I was in the area.

Happy hour specials
Kitchen open late

We were seated immediately, and our hostess gave us some of the nicest service I've experienced…read more The Japanese beers are a must, especially off draft. We were able to snag happy hour deals for the chili edamame and the Las Vegas and spicy yellowtail rolls. The rolls were very tasty and came out in less than 5mins. The edamame.... THE BEST edamame I've had to date. These are a required must-try for anyone going here. We decided to try a hot pot for the first time and went with a fan favorite spicy seafood pot. I was scared it would be fishy, which I don't like. But it was in a tonkotsu broth (pork bone broth) so the seafood flavor was just in the seafood itself, which was perfect for me. It was so good. Not very spicy though, and I think that would level it up a bit. Off happy hour, it is a bit pricey. A hotpot is $20 but easily feeds two or three people, but the rolls are about $7-$14 a piece which adds up. Happy hour is a good time to be there. It's also more refined inside, a nice glow of the lights and high end tableware and chopsticks. Not too fancy, which is perfect for an impromptu night out like we had.

If you're not a fan of strong flavors, I would recommend asking for lighter seasoning on some dishes and a little extra water in the soups. That balance worked well for our preferences. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. During the hour we were there, the restaurant wasn't busy. There were only a couple of tables being served, yet our drinks were never refilled, our table wasn't bused, and our rice never arrived with our hot pot soups even after our server asked if we wanted it. It seemed to be forgotten. What really stood out was that we ended up eating dessert with a table full of dirty dishes still sitting in front of us and empty drinks that had not been refilled. I also noticed that the table next to us appeared to receive much more attentive service. Their drinks were refilled, their dishes were cleared promptly, and staff regularly checked on them to see if they needed anything. In comparison, our table received very little attention. I don't know why there was such a difference in service. It left me wondering whether we were being treated differently, though I can't say for certain. Overall, the food was excellent, but the service was disappointing and significantly affected our experience. (Server was Dhillon T.)
