Great store for your produce needs. They have more of a variety compared to Jewel or Marianos. Eat their produce the day you purchase it. They also have a wide variety of items from various cultures. Pete's Market Willowbrook had one of the most amazing selections of hot food and prepared food items I had ever seen. It looked like they typically had excellent fresh produce also. I was very grateful they had canned soy milk, e.g., Yeo's soy milk. The food was excellent. They have a nice dining area. The store was clean, neat, and well-organized. This was our first time here to shop for some last minute snacks for our vacation to Petoskey, Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. We were very impressed by this fresh market. The variety and quality of the merchandise here is superior to the more common popular supermarkets. They have a great international food aisle. I selected my favorite 16 ounce bag of Dot's pretzels for $6.99. I also selected a 16 ounce can of micro brew cherry soda with honey for $1.69, which I was not impressed with. My total bill for all of our vacation snack food items was $60. We agreed we will shop here again. Now we will stop at Binny's Beverage Depot for some alcoholic drinks. read more

Now it's horrible, no more actual meat counter just prepackaged meats (that are often on the verge of expiring). Aisles way too narrow. This is one of my favorite stores in the area. They literally have everything I could possibly look for. They have fresh juice, sushi, popcorn; literally anything you can think of. The store is bright and clean, they have a fresh food bar, an area where you can sit and eat, if you like and the customer service isn't too bad. I go here often because I like their sushi and fresh juice. They also have a great selection of vegan/vegetarian food, which I love! They just recently started a loyalty program you can sign up for. Coupons don't transfer over , if they'll give you a rain check , it takes at least 5-7 min to get someone to ok it. If they do ok it be careful as they'll try to charge full price anyway. Purchased 2 pre-pckaged rib meat pub burgers...Very, Very Greasy. Noticed a huge difference in in quality lately! The "rib meat" burger appeared to have a large amount of fat prior to cooking. Makes me think that Pete's maybe Cutting Burgers with more fat to add to purchase price. I even tasted pork fat in a beef burger!! After cooking, which took forever and produced small burgers the only taste left was grease ( no fat added to cook). Have purchases rib meat burgers at Pete's before these burgers didn't compare. I'm a sucker for a nice, locally owned market so I dropped in to check Pete's out while in the area. It was even more exciting than I expected! My first observation was the number of employees working hard to keep the displays organized and clean. There are multiple hot and cold food bars with many specialty and ethnic choices offered, from baba ganoush to fried seafood...there's something for everyone! The entire store was well-stocked and again I was amazed at the variety of ethnic options. I decided to get a meal to go (salmon, grilled veggies and rice) along with some specialty kombucha and a middle eastern wheat flatbread called tannour. The salmon was surprising flavorful, albeit just a tad more done than I'd liked (although that's to be expected when baked in volume). All in all, my meal was quite delicious and I was pleased with my other purchases. While in my initial amazed state, I took a few pix of the hot and cold bars with my phone for this review. Surprisingly, out of nowhere two men came up to me and somewhat brusquely asked me to stop, that there was a sign at the front which stated, "no pictures". Honestly, I didn't see the sign and apologized. One of the men asked me why I was taking pictures...I explained to give them a great review, which I felt they deserved. So this is why I'm not posting any pix here. It's also the reason I didn't give the store five stars overall. THIS IS REALLY STUPID, but I got a panic attack from a rude cashier... I come here pretty often to pick up their sushi and usually the employees are very helpful and nice, but today I had a cashier named Gabriela (older lady, dark hair and wears glasses) and she was incredibly rude to me for no apparent reason. I just wanted to get sushi and hot cheetos after a long day at work. I got to the line and noticed two lanes are about to open up. The younger girl waved the next customer to step up, which was me or the young couple next to me. So they proceeded to her's and I was at Gabriela's lane. She just finsihed ringing up a guy and the sprayed her station. I didnt think much of it because I thought she was keeping her station clean because of COVID-19. So I just waited there patiently, and she never acknowledged me or even looked at me.Mind you, I was in no rush. I didnt NEED to be anywhere and I wasn't rushing anyone. I just waited. I didnt care. After a few minutes of me waiting, she shouted over at me "Are you going to put your things down or you just going to stand there all day?!" I apologized at her and said i didnt know she was ready for me because she was cleaning and didnt signal me over. I didnt want to be *that one customer* to put their shit on the belt when the cashier isn't ready. Especially when making sure things are clean, bc AGAIN, COVID-19 procedures. She then gave more attitude saying "well theres no one in front of you, I don't have all day!" I got annoyed and said that she didnt have to be rude to which she proceeded to talk down to me some more. So I asked for her name. She told me her name is Gabriela. At this point I just wanted to pay and leave and just ignore her bad attitude.. So I grabbed my stuff, about to walk off but she grabbed the reciept and said "Here you can find my name right here!" As she circled her name in the receipt. I was so upset I stormed off responding 'ok bye, bitch!' I don't like confrontation and got defensive and left.. Way to add salt to a wound, lady. After I got to my car I called the store and explained my experience with her. Its stupid but I was balling my eyes out and kept hyperventilating bc I got a panic attack from this dumb, small exchange. Idk if the managers would do anything about it or if she fabricated her story. But I just wanted to eat sushi and walk my dog. I know this sounds like me overreacting from the panic attack and to crying, but I have really bad social anxiety. I felt like she singled me out maybe because of how I look or because I was alone. I am embarrassed that this happened with people around. I dont like this drawing attention or conflict. I sat in car trying to calm down for almost 3 hours. Obviously not going to drive with a panic attack going on. My boyfriend came by and tried to comfort me. Seriously! about 3 hours in their parking lot, hyperventilating. It fucking sucks. But its just a shitty experience overall and nothing can be really be done by this. I don't like to do the "let me speak to your manager." Especially since I work also in customer service at my salon and I know we get bad days too,,but don't take it out on other people, Gabriela. Grocery shopping is actually something I dread. I usually go when it is way too crowded, I'm in a rush, or I only need to grab a few things and can never find what I want. But Pete's is different! When you first walk in, you see a large array of fresh items. Fruits and vegetables, both organic and non, from all around the world. They have everything you could want, and you may even discover something new with their vast selection. Moving on, they have a great butcher and fish section. The employees are always fast, friendly, and have great recommendations! The isles are stocked with a wide variety of unique items that you won't find at your average store. Again, they have items from around the world, and everything is clearly labeled for easy navigating. From here, to the frozen section, the deli, and bakery, all are wonderful. They also have many vegetarian, vegan, and dairy free options, which I greatly appreciate. How can it get better? Well, it does! They have a HUGE hot food buffet, salad bar, and made to order tacos, burritos, sushi, and poke bowls! Let me tell you, their steak burritos are no joke! The meat is straight from their butcher, all the toppings are freshly cut, homemade salsa, all for $7! You can't beat it. Keep up the great work Pete's! I will be back! read more

They have some great options for international foods. However, I'm taking off 4 stars for them not requiring masks despite a statewide mask mandate that started at the end of August 2021. Some workers were also not masked. Don't see this at places like TJs or H-Mart or Mitsuwa where the stores ensure safety of customers and employees and where the clientele is a bit more enlightened. In response to Kris, of course I wear a mask. The point is for others to wear one according to current law. I come from a family of doctors, am fully vaccinated, and have no problem protecting others by wearing a mask. Others should do the same in a place you have control over. It's your job to enforce the mask mandate especially for your employees. This is not a new thing and we shouldn't have to explain this as nauseam after almost 2 years. I recently purchased an organic basil plant. The plant looked good and smelled wonderful. When I reached home, the plant was dried out, and when I replanted it it wilted. I tried to save it for about three days and was unsuccessful. I went to the store to see if I can have an exchange and two managers on the evening shift, refused to give me another basil plant. They said this was a perishable item. It's a plant not food. It is very sad how management becomes very petty about a plant which they can replace from the company and I end up losing. All for a plant the management didn't want to lose money. Interesting. This is why I will never choose to go to the store again. Also, about a year and a half ago a person my car in the parking lot next to one of the cameras. Management and upper management and the company refused to give me the footage, so I can proceed with the claim. I filed the police report and filed a complaint with my insurance. The police officers are even went to the persons home and she denied everything. Sadly, because I saw her damage my car. Again, Pete's market management personnel and corporation made me lose $2000. And now I have lost a plant in $2000. read more

This star does not have anything due to Pete's in general. I just want to make sure management gets this. Pete's has the greatest in house smoked salmon. I go there once a week to get it. Well this week I was waiting at the cooked food side of the deli for about five minutes a worker that was cleaning decided after five minutes he should tell me that I needed to go to the meat deli side. So I did and they helped me. I went to the customer service desk to tell the manager. The person at the desk (around 7:00 p.m.) was more concerned ringing up a person that was behind me. I agree this is the best stocked, most diverse grocery store around! Highlights include smoked fish, Sushi Burritos for $10 or $11. Excellent hot food bar(s). They even have an impressive selection of plants! They cater to all types of world, global, ethnic foods. Halal meats are clearly noted. I was at Pete's Market on Saturday morning. I could not believe how many customers had NO masks on. I started shopping the aisles where a woman was stacking the shelves NO mask on. I asked her " Aren't u suppose to wear a mask?" Her reply was she had just taken it of. It was no where to be seen. I went past that aisle a number of times No mask. Finally about 15 minutes later a mask appeared. Many of the men stocking the shelves had their mask under their noses. I waited a long time for this store to open and it didn't disappoint. The staff if generally pleasant and helpful. However on my last trip this past weekend the cashier was rude to the supervisor and complained loudly about being out on a register. Ok I get it, you're mad. But don't take it out in my groceries - I should've bagged my own food because he put frozen food and perishables in with canned goods and put heavy items on top of pastries. And the bags were ridiculously heavy. I emailed corporate shortly after including naming him and suggesting retraining for him, especially regarding proper conduct in front of customers. I still haven't heard back from them; I'm hoping this is due to them trying to resolve the problem with him and/or management and not lack or attention or care. So finally got to the new grocery store in the area! Man this place is still jumping...it's new, it's super clean and it's busy. The produce section is huge and has everything one could ask for. However while everything looks fresh and amazing I did have some items going bad faster then I am accustomed to. For instance I had some cilantro and tomatoes that seem to go bad almost overnight. I'm not sure why this would be and I will continue to monitor things I buy there. The meat section is awesome with great selection and their butchers know what they are talking about. I won't mention the name of a certain competitor where sadly that's not the case. Also love the dry aged section!!!!!!!!!! The overall layout was a bit confusing at times, but I'm sure that just me being unfamiliar with the store. where do I start? Purchase ground turkey, made a pot of chili with it turns out the turkey was rotten threw it all away. Was having company purchased a dozen donuts, all stale threw them away. Two days ago purchased chopped walnuts that were on special. Made cookies for Thanksgiving, turns out the nuts are rancid. Wow!! So clean, new and fresh. Best part, unlike Oak Brook Terrace.. the fresh produce section is warm and lovely. You have to wear your winter coat in Oak Brook Terrace when picking out your fruits and veg. If anyone has ever been to any Pets fresh food then they know about the selection/display/ price point/courteous and plentiful staff/cleanliness/ choices. And on and on. They are legendary and for us rev customers there is nothing new here and for those who have never been then check it out. But this review is the amp up the o derivation another notch. I dropped an entire case of beer ( bottles of course) resulting in a few bottles breaking. This happened right in front of an employee by the name of David. And what was his reaction??? Took about five minutes to clean up the mess since there were broken shards of glass strewn about:them once he assessed the situation and that the floor was safe for passage. Both from falls on the wet floor and from broken glass he proceeded to go and get me another. Age of beer all the while advising me that it was his job etc etc. at no time did he make me feel like a jerk or a bother. Etc Exemplary employee and wish I knew his name. We wandered happily for half an hour up and down the many international aisles before buying lunch from the deli, hot bar and salad bar. I love this store and venture from the city to shop here, as it puts Mariano's and Whole Foods to shame. This store has absolutely everything: enormous, well priced produce section, well stocked seafood and meat counters, fresh juice bar, extensive deli and prepared foods. Not to mention an eye popping selection of international items. Wine selection is a little small compared to the size of the store but it's no big deal. Also there are many cashier stations and they seem to be always fully open so lines are minimal, unlike other grocery stores. Really enjoy shopping here. read more
